I was very intrigued by this book. One question kept plaguing me through out the book and that is, "Why doesn't she contact James' family?" He said that they would do anything for her. I can't imagine giving up a child without trying everything including your fiances' family for help. Other than that I liked the story and the characters. I love reading about history.
I'm not sure why I requested this book because I don't like war era books at all usually but I do love out of wedlock period pieces because that struggle with society wishes and personal conflict fascinate me and that must be why I requested the arc to begin with. I'm glad I did. Return to Me by Carolyn Menke was a good book, the first I've read by this author. There are some areas that lag and a few areas I almost gave up, but I finished it. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for a honest review.
