Description

A caged man looking for escape. A woman in disguise searching for a precious jewel. Two lovers destined to destroy each other or tear apart the bonds of the past.

Jennet Douglas doesn’t do anything other than play it safe. Learning to be passive gained her a foothold in her grandfather’s house and it’s become second nature. But the burning, passionate nature she refuses to acknowledge has finally met its match. A match that lights a fire inside her she can’t deny.

Cameron Steward lives for adventure. Getting stuck in the wilds of Scotland, with an angry son who hates him, wasn’t part of his plan. But a crazy, dead wife and a demanding, dead mother had other ideas and now, here he is—desperate to find something to alight his interest once more.

With Jennet tied to a family demand to steal and Cameron bound by long held beliefs, both are caught in a maze of past hurts and future fears. Only the flash of a match made in heaven can light the flame of love in their souls.

A caged man looking for escape. A woman in disguise searching for a precious jewel. Two lovers destined to destroy each other or tear apart the bonds of the past.

a very good unique story. I liked the plot and how the author brought the story to a close. Good writing.

I wish I could say that I loved this book but alas, I did not love it. That's not to say that it was bad it was just kind of vanilla. I couldn't cheer for Jenny or Cam because I never felt emotionally tied to either of these characters. You would think based on the character's pasts, it would be easy to feel empathy for both or either one. I can't put my finger on why but it just didn't do it for me.

The Good:
The setting. I adore Scotland and the descriptions of the home and the loch.
Robbie, Rob, Robert, whatever... I loved this kid. From his quirky outfits and the way he played; he was all boy. He brought a much needed humor to this book.

The Not So Good:
The way Cam calls Jenny "Mouse"...I hate it! She may be insecure but no one wants to be called a rodent!

The Verdict: 3 Stars

Jen is on a mission from her grandfather. She had to find a ring he gave to his lover. She applied for a position with Cameron as a transcriber. Cameron has some emotional baggage and just wanted to write his book and keep his secret. As they get closer she finds it hard to complete her mission. Enjoyed reading how Jen and Cam's relationship developed throughout the book. I enjoyed reading this sweet story about second chances.

Lion of Caledonia: International Billionaires VII: The Scots by Caro LaFever. This is the story of Jennet Douglas and Cameron Steward. 3.5 stars

Jennet is applying for a live in job with Cam so that she can search Cam's house for her grandfather. Jennet is on a mission to help her grandfather get back a jewelry that had once belong to his family. Jennet grandfather has always been there for her and now she thinks this will be the way to help 'pay' him back for all that he done for her. But Jennet has a hard time dealing with things due to her past...so she is struggling to hold it together. Cam too has issue from his past that he tries to keep quite about. Cam in attracted to Jennet but feels she is a 'mouse' with her scared attitude. Can these two overcome their past and secrets so they might have a chance at love?
