Lennox Cooper was a cop until her partner died while Lennox was trying to save her lovers life during a shooting. Pulling herself together she starts her own Private Investigators business. Doing surveillance work, she is bored wishing she was a cop again. Until she gets a call from her mother Aurora who's at the home of her wealthy friends and the man has just died. She is hired by the widow to find out who killed her husband. Lennox is thrilled to not only use her detective skills, but hopes to redeem herself in the department's eyes. A definite page turner. You will not be able to see the ending.
I would like to thank NetGalley and Diversion Books for allowing me to read this advanced copy. I am so glad to finally read a book where the main character is a strong, smart woman. Lennox Cooper is my hero! I like the way Lily Gardner not only is an excellent writer but she also makes you feel part of the investigation. I am excited for the next Lennox Cooper book!! Thanks Lily Gardner, your the bomb diggety 😀
This is a well written thriller with the characters having plenty of depth and great interaction.
Well worth a read and I will certainly be on the look out for more from this author.
Lennox Cooper has become a private investigator after she is thrown off the force when her partner is killed trying to protect her while she goes against protocol and places everyone in danger as she tries to protect her injured married policeman lover. Now she is struggling to make ends meet and playing poker to augment her income when the jobs are scarce. Her socialite mother is attending a party when her friend's husband is murdered and they blame the wife. Of course. Lennox gets herself hired as the case investigator hoping to get back on her feet and establish herself as more that just a PI that follows cheating husbands. As the case progresses and she starts to uncover family secrets of her mother's friend and her own mother the case turns dangerous and she could be next. I thought I had it figured out but the plot had a little bit of a surprise ending for me. Great read. I would like to thank the Publisher and Net Galley for the chance to read this ARC.
Enjoyed Gardner giving us another installment of PI Lennox. Felt the story had a lot of depth and Gardner kept you guessing on how the story wold unfold. I felt the level of violence towards Lennox was a bit much. A male PI would never encounter violence towards them of that nature. The character of Lennox seems to lack a sense of self preservation. I enjoy that she is flawed but she can also be written as smart, savvy and a badass.
Looking forward to other adventures of PI Lennox
