Description
In this third title in the Faithgirlz Glimmer Girls series by Natalie Grant, Miracle in Music City, the Glimmer Girls are at it again—looking for a mystery to solve. Gloria wants her daughters to learn they aren't too young to make a difference, so she gets them involved in her annual benefit and auction. But as things often do with the trio of smart and sassy sisters, they get themselves and their nanny Miss Julia involved in a lot more than just helping mom raise money for a worthy and wonderful cause.

This series continues to delight my children and exceed my expectations! The girls loved the first two books so much that I quickly signed up to review book 3 in exchange for a complimentary copy when I saw it come up on NetGalley! I didn’t feel like this book was quite as good as the first two as the plot seemed a little weaker and more predictable to me (an adult); nevertheless, it is a good book that I feel great about my girls reading over and over again – which I know they will.
I did really enjoy the introduction of a new friend who was currently homeless. The Glimmer Girls meet her at the shelter where they volunteer with their mom, and I appreciated the way the girls’ anxiety and nervousness were portrayed and that they stepped out of their comfort zone to befriend a stranger and were rewarded with a new friend who I hope we’ll see more of in future books! This part of the story reminded me a lot of one of our favorite picture books, The Braids Girl by Lisa McCourt (and illustrated by my friend Tim Ladwig!) These two books would be a powerful combination for introducing your kids to joining you in ministry!
I also appreciated the focus in this book on how important it is to continually check our hearts and make sure we are using our God-given talents for His glory and avoiding the powerful temptation to show off. There were some great quotes on this topic as well as on making a difference which I’ve shared in my blog post review of this book, including some pinnable image quotes! http://mommynificent.com/2016/05/08/glimmer-girls-book-3-miracle-music-city-natalie-grant/
I highly recommend this series for girls ages 5-12 (our age range here). All three of my girls give it a hearty two thumbs up!
