‘They're battery operated and remote controlled by Satan.’ ~Elvis, on June bugs

Humour books are not usually my forte. I prefer fantasy, hist-fic, and archaeology for the most part. Every once in a while a book of humour will snag my attention, though, and this was one of those books whose humour I could appreciate.

In Breaking Cat News, Dunn gives us a glimpse inside the minds of her three furry companions- Lupin, Elvis, and Puck. She does an excellent job of portraying each kitty’s unique personality, especially Elvis, the Siamese! Lupin looks to be a fluffy white Persian, and Puck a black shorthair.

This lovable, high-energy trio gets into everything! Cats can be so curious, and so full of energy. And always on the wrong side of the door! I loved the segment where the Woman is in a room with the door closed. First Puck is there, being generally nosy, and batting under the door. In the next frame, all three are there. Ohh, I've so had that happen. My goofy goober cat follows me everywhere.

The segment where the woman is trying to make the bed is hysterical. Sephie loves being a lump under our covers like that. We have to be extra careful not to sit on her. * snerk * Elvis looks like a lion when he puffs up, and he puffs up at a lot!

Anyone who is kept by cats will appreciate this little gem of cat-centric humour. Breaking Cat News by Georgia Dunn is a must have for cat-lovers everywhere.

Very cute book for cat lovers

What a treat for cat lovers. A book of cartoons that are mostly sweet observations of cat behavior. I like cats, but am not an enthusiast, and some of the comics made me laugh out loud. An analysis of carpet being the perfect place to throw up to make it hardest to clean comes to mind.

A great gift for any cat lover, especially if they don't picture every cat as a sarcastic Garfield.

As a cat enthusiast and an owner to a couple of cats, this book had me in stitches. This could not have been a more accurate description of cat behavior.

The illustrations were great, the breaking news was witty and all in all this was a very enjoyable book. Anyone who has had cats or loves cats will immediately fall in love with this book. This would make an excellent gift or coffee table book.

Sooo cute! I loved the news stories the cats reported on. The stories really are things that cats would be interested in. I definitely going to buy it to add to the collection.

Sweet and simple book that gives us a cat's eye view of the world as reported by 3 house cats. A great book for family reading. I really liked the artwork and the stories but I probably won't buy this book because I don't think the appeal is wide enough for my library where comic strips are not wildly popular (except with the librarian!)

Oh how I loved “Breaking Cat News.” I still have a smile on my face just thinking about it and am going to buy a physical copy the next time I am in a bookstore. Any cat lover is sure to see their own cats in the news team, and it will make a perfect gift for anyone in your life that needs some cheering up. It’s also appropriate for children and is sure to get everyone laughing together. Highly recommended!

I loved this delightful illustrated book about three cat journalists on the CN (cat news) network who report news of interest to cats. The kitties - Lupin, Elvis, and Puck - are housecats that live with 'the woman' and 'the man.'

The book is filled with entertaining scenes, so I'll just give a few examples. The woman goes to the bathroom and closes the door....and the cats immediately rush over with their microphones: "CN news, ma'am. What you doing in there?' The cattarazzi proceed to claw at the door and stick their paws underneath as they keep calling, "Ma'am?" "Ma'am?" "Ma'am?.....and the woman just sighs.

Seeing that the woman has a frosted cupcake the cats immediately swarm her. One asks "Do you remember when you let me lick frosting off your finger, ma'am?" Another inquires "Do you remember I'm an excellent boy who deserves frosting?" When the woman declares "Cupcakes are for people" the cats are appalled....but get smiley again when they discover 11 more cupcakes on the kitchen counter.

The woman is under the weather and lying on the sofa (spooning with Puck). A reporter cat observes: "People recover from illness with giant mugs of hot tea and hours of British mystery shows." Later the woman is obviously pregnant and a newscat observes, "The woman has been increasing in size. This week her size has pinned her to the couch where she now lives with Puck watching British mystery shows." [Puck can't comment because if he misses the first ten minutes of the show he won't know what's going on....so true...ha ha ha.]

When the man and woman finally bring the baby home a cat reporter observes that "The people have brought home a strange creature that they force to wear tiny hats." The cats think the baby is a human pupa...and their labeled illustration of this is hilarious!

This book would appeal to everyone who likes a laugh, especially cat lovers. Highly recommended.

Thanks to Netgalley, the author, and the publisher for a copy of this book.

Breaking Cat News covers the daily lives of three housecats who report the things that matter to them. Some of their coverage includes disrupting their owners' naps, the horrors of moving, and the excitement of early morning marathon races through a quiet house.

This hilarious volume is a must have for cat lovers, who will likely recognize some of their cats' antics. The irony is not lost on me that while reading this digital edition, my cats repeatedly crawled on my laptop and interrupted my reading.

How could I have NOT heard of this webcomic before??

I don't live with cats, but I'm somewhat familiar with them because I have many friends who are cat slaves, and I used to work at the local animal shelter.

Georgia Dunn's cast of three cats - Lupin, Puck and Elvis - report on the hard-hitting issues such as "The People bought some stupid-looking thing for the dining room", and "The house is under attack from a mysterious red dot", or "The Woman is trying to use a laptop". Cue some extremely predictable cat behaviours with deadpan commentary and the seriousness of getting a job done.

Bonus points: I'm a journalist... a newspaper one, but a journalist nonetheless and I can relate to the importance of being on top of current issues such as being at the scene where bacon is being cooked or entertaining great suspicion when you are told you're not allowed to be somewhere.

I love this book so hard. I read it at least two more times and bookmarked the website so I can catch up with the latest news, which is further along than where the book ended. I showed this galley and gave the URL to a couple of colleagues who have cats AND a Human Pupa. This is probably my best discovery this month.

If you are an animal rescuer or support your animal shelter, the reporter cats have a wonderful Special Report on shelter cats here which is worth passing along: http://www.breakingcatnews.com/breaking-cat-news-special-report-shelter-cats

Breaking Cat New is a simple yet funny book. It really shows the life of a cat and what is truly important to cats. As a cat owner and lover of cats I could not help but smile while reading this book. I believe that any person who loves cats will see their own cats in the new team. This comic book is able to get the attention of adult and children alike.

A delightfully accurate series of comics in which cats report on the world around them. The book is full of a great cast of kitties and adorable drawings. This is definitely a purr-fect counter book to stock at the store!

I was given a copy of Breaking Cat News by Netgalley for an honest review. Let me start by saying that this book is unique. Who would have thought anyone would come up with the idea to from their cats be newscasters telling the stories of everyday happenings in and outside the house.
There are three cats, Lupin, who is the anchor and reminds me of Dan Rather, Elvis a to the point no nonsense reporter and Lupin the other reporter. Whatever goes on in the house or outside the window these three have it covered! From a June Bug getting into the house, to the spare room door being left open to bacon has been spotted at the breakfast table, this book is wonderful and fun. The drawings are great and it kept me laughing from beginning to end. If you're a cat lover or know someone who is than get them a copy of Breaking Cat News. Also be sure to cehck out the website, breakingcatnews.com

I absolutely LOVED this! I thought the jokes were very humorous, whether you own a cat or not. They were subtle, yet very true and real to what cats act like and reading along, as if we could understand their thoughts and comments, was brilliant. I liked the news cast setting and felt it really added a unique touch to the read. The artwork was excellent and really matched the style of jokes and wording, in the read. I felt the whole thing came together to make a really brilliant book and I hope to see more, no only from this author, but from the News Cats!

Definitely one for the cat lovers in your life! It's a sweet and childlike look at how cats see their world, with the author's three cats depicted as news reporters commenting on topics such as bees, houseplants, what the humans are up to, and much more. I thought it was lovely!

A preview copy was provided by the publisher in exchange for a review.

'Breaking Cat News: Cats Reporting on the News that Matters to Cats' by Georgia Dunn is a series of comic strips parodying life with cats and the nightly news.

Our three reporters are Elvis, Lupin, and Puck, and they are the author's real pets, but here they are wearing neckties and holding microphones. They report on all the unusual things that happen in the house. Breaking news includes fireworks, the outside, the noise of the vacuum cleaner, sleeping humans, and even a baby.

Of course, the humans are quite annoyed at times by cats that are doing what cats do, and that's where the humor is. Obviously, familiarity with living with a cat will only heighten the humor here. The drawings are cute, but the comics are adorable and often hysterical. Buy it for the cat fancier in your life.

If you have cats, then you can just imagine what they would report as 'breaking news' in your house. This book envisions everything house cats would find as news-worthy, and humorously delivers it.
