Description
A beast. A beauty. And an unexpected baby.
When Lilly Graham visits her father in Scotland, she finds the villagers are close to rebellion against the new lord. Disturbed to hear the man has locked himself in his castle with a stash of liquor and guns, she won’t let him hide. She lost a good friend to depression and can’t be party to letting another soul lose the fight and die.
Iain McPherson avoids meeting anyone or any expectations about being a hero. He shouldn’t have been a Royal Marine and he shouldn’t have been given authority to lead. Disaster happened, leaving him a broken man. All he wants is to be left to his drunken self.
But a pesky, persistent lass won’t let him off the hook and no amount of bellowing or baleful threats will drive her away from his castle. Iain can’t escape from the past and he’s no longer sure he wants to escape from the present. Or the lass.

I received an eARC, from NetGalley and the publisher, in exchange for an honest review.
'Lord of the Isles: International Billionaires VIII: The Scots ' by Caro LaFever This is the story of Lilly Graham and Iain McPherson. Iain is dealing with some sever depression and seems to be getting worse. Lilly has lost a friend that she felt she should have helped more. Now she hears of Iain is cutting himself off pretty much from everyone and is drinking. This was a really moving book besides being a good love story. I enjoyed having the chance to read and review it.
Thoroughly enjoyed this!! Looking forward to reading more of LaFever!
Can you save a man that hurt you as a child? Lilly knows that she can get through to Iain before it is too late but can he let her in? A really enjoyable read
Wasn't sure what to expect here, but I found so much more. Both of them have issues, her with struggling to fit in after her parents divorce and he with PTSD. Tie that all in with being on a Scottish Isle and it just gets better and better. It is such an issue here, so it was interesting to read about this from another country. I really was pleasantly surprised by this book and I highly recommend it. Hard to put down, and makes a wonderful read. It had me feeling sadness, laughing and numerous emotions. What more could you ask for?
A story of forgiving yourself, finding love and redemption in a new live. Excellent tale of tue journey of Iain and Lilly toward love In Scotland. A new author for me and pleasantly surprised. Will be looking for the rest of her books.
Ebook from netgalley and publishers with thanks.
This book is pretty brutal. It's LONG and the trauma that Iain went through and continued to put himself and Lily through was painful to read. Honestly, I would have much preferred this book to be a little more happy and little more concise. Don't get me wrong, it's not a bad book. It definitely has its high points but the not so good parts dragged on for what felt like forever.
The Good: Lily is a freaking trooper. She is bound and determined to help Iain and that is admirable.
The Not So Good: Length, pacing, trauma of Iain's PTSD, and Lily's ability to expect him to change and then when he did she spooked.
The Verdict: 3.5 Stars
Scotland always set a mood for Lily. But something was off. Lily was a photographerand she had been in India taking pictures of elephants and cobras and the market place on market day. Lily always had a monthly visit with her dad Malcoln McPherson had passed and the first male of the line would inherit the islands and all the businesses that went with them such as th fishing licenses for a lot of the sea and the land where the Highland cattle grazed and the two crameries that made the famous McPherson cheese and others. But also the mythical title of Lord of The Isles. Lily had met Iain - the latest lord- once when she was ten. Meeting Iain that one time had shattered her fairy tale dream. When Lily’s parents divorced she spent one month of the summer with her father on Somaire and she wasn’t surprised he moved there after he retired. The new lord had shut down the golf course and had not renewed the fishimg licenses so men were out of work. Eventually the island community would die if something wasn’t done. Lily went to the castle and to the secret back door Iain had showed her the one time she had met him when she was ten. Lily went inside and confronted who was drunk but he also mentioned how he suffered from nightmares from. Lily ewas determined to help him as she had a co-worker suffered from PTSD and depression and she hadn’t said or done anything and two weeks later he had committed suicide. Lily could see Iain was depressed and being tortured by his memories of being a Royal Marine. Lily is determined to be there for Iain and see him get help. She didn’t plan on falling for Iain and she didn’t know if he cared for her at all.
I loved this story. Ut just warmed my heart Even though she didn’t have a good memory of the one time she met Iain she was still determined to help him get back on his feet then he could do right by the islanders. It made me feel great to read this story not Iain’s problems and depression but how determined Lily was that Iain get help and start living again. I love the characters. I love the plot and writing. Ialso love the ins and out of this story.I highly recommend.
