Description

In the original Snow Queen story, the queen did much more damage than simply freezing a city.

Gia’s stepmother was cold and distant, a woman with very definite ideas of what was acceptable and not—especially for her son, Colin. Her cruelty hurt both children but was worse for Colin, making him blind to his talents and his passion.

Colin put as much distance as possible between his mother and himself as soon as he could, but the damage she inflicted was done. His art, something he once loved to do, now caused him pain. He had found success as an actuary and stayed in touch with Gia, but creating art was no longer a part of his life.

Gia, a high school teacher, knows Colin is not doing work he loves. He should be painting. She watched him draw in secret for years, his talent overwhelming. Deciding she’s the only one who can help him, Gia gets Colin to agree to let her stay with him for her summer vacation. She claims she needs time and space to write, but she has two other goals as well.

Her plan is to reintroduce art to his life and pose for him, hoping that this will change his life, and determine once and for all if his passion–and theirs–have a chance.

Her Frozen Stepbrother by Rachel Kenley - Romance A Once Upon A Stepbrother Novella.

Gia had idolized her older step-brother Collin who was 5 years older than her but at the tender age of 8 he seemed to her an adult. Collin loved to create and Gia was proud of him and his ambition. Colin's mother could be cruel. No son of hers would be an artist! When she finds out he has been taking art classes instead of her choice of classes, she gathers everything he ever created over the years and destroyed it all, while berating him, leaving Colin beaten and his dreams shattered.
Seventeen years later.
Colin is a good looking, successful man, but seems closed off when it comes to relationships. Learning from the age of 16 never to be hurt again he can't open up to people. Gia has plans to bring back art to Colin life while encouraging him to see her as a woman. More specifically His Woman. A cute novella. I love the antics Gia comes up with to engage Colin and his hesitance of reclaiming his dreams. It adorable his reactions to Gia and really seeing his baby step-sister. A sweet story of overcoming your history and believing again.

This is a very good short romance with a lot of heat.

Gia & Colin have always been close, despite the coldness of Gia's stepmother, Colin's mother. After a particularly horrible incident, Colin is irrevocably changed, and becomes stuck in a seemingly never-ending nightmare, lost without his art. Taking matters into her own hands, Gia decides to reawaken Colin's passion for art, as well as get him to admit that they could work as a couple.

I received a copy of this novel in exchange for my review from NetGalley.
