Who doesn't want an eager employee? Her boss is clearly an idiot.
Get it in writing.
Aw, he's an animal lover with a soft heart.
Ewww. I can't even handle Port-a-Potties.
Who doesn't like kids?
Ew, powdered eggs?
She should have an "off-the-record" signal, like a reporter. Maybe then he wouldn't be so touchy.
Remind me never to go to the woods.
What the heck is Denali's problem?
Wow, when she decides to have sex, she really goes full-throttle.
How can she be so nice to her kidnapper? Then again, it's not she can run away from him with a twisted ankle.
Dirty trick, but effective.
Staking a Claim was an okay read for me. I didn't love it and I didn't hate it. It started pretty slow for me took a while to get to any real relationship then it ended abruptly. Blake was a jerk for most of the book and Although I like me some jerks he didn't really have enough nice moments to balance it out. Sam I like but I felt like she should have stuck up for herself a little more. Blake would be a jerk and she would just get over it like it never happened. She would bounce right back after he would hurt her feelings like a boomerang. Both Blake and Sam did have their good points, but by the time I warmed to them and was looking forward to some real romance the story was over. HFN not HEA and no epilogue. I feel like it would have been a great story had it been longer. As it is it was decent book with very little drama. A nice quick, easy read. This is the first book I have read from Devon McKay but I liked it enough I would give her another shot.
This book was sweet, funny, romantic and an easy read - perfect for an evening in with a glass of wine. The scene is set in detail, the characters are realistic and the plot is good - if a little hurried.
Overall a fun and quick read. A little predicatable, and some of the dialog was a bit forced, which got a little annoying. Still cannot see why the company sent her there, as she was the least capable person to be sent into the wilderness. I guess that was the point though, and of course she has one incident after another, and falls in love with a hunky guy. Typical of course, but relaxing in that way too. Sometimes it is nice to know what is coming and just enjoy the ride. I recommend this book for a light summer read.
A big thank you to NetGalley and Wild Rose Press for the ARC for my honest review. First time reading this author. I give it a 3.5. It took a while for me to like the characters one minute Blake is Inc.. and accommodating the next he is a cranky pants. I didn't feel the connection. I liked that it was based in beautiful Alaska. I say give it a go if you like romance. Maybe it will click for you. Enjoy
