Sara Sullivan doesn't have an easy life. Falling in love with the wrong guy at an early age is now keeping her from really living. Sara is still legally married to Tony and he just got released from prison. Ever since Sara left him she has done nothing but hide. She isn't making sure he can't find her, instead Sara tries to keep him away from the people she loves. Tony will not hurt her directly, but he will hurt her by taking on everyone around her.

Sara lives in a small apartment now and has her own barber shop, which is doing pretty well. During her spare hours Sara is studying for an upcoming exam, because she wants to get the degree she should have had all those years ago. There is only one person who knows the truth about Sara's past and he is the brother of her best friend.

Cooper has been away for two years on an assignment in Singapore, but now the time has come to return home. The first person he sees after getting off the plane is Sara. Cooper is wondering what she is doing here and he is not happy with the fact that she is close to his family. Several years ago he tried to get Sara's husband behind bars for murder, but he failed to get the right evidence. His assignment now is clear. Get the evidence he needs and try every possible resource.

Cooper has always felt attracted to Sara. She is beautiful and when she lets her guard down she is a fun person to be around. When Cooper finds out Sara has a math exam coming up he offers to help her out. For him this is his way into Sara's life and hopefully he'll get the evidence that will put Tony behind bars again.

Sara is a very sweet person with a big heart. She made the wrong choice when she was young, but she is trying to leave the past behind her. I was amazed by her strength, her determination to get her life back on track and by the kindness she shows others. It must be horrible to live in so much fear and I admired the way she copes with that. Cooper is big and handsome and he's a badass cop. He would do anything for his family and for the people he loves, which made me like him straight away. I really enjoyed reading about the main characters of Copping It Sweet, they're interesting and easy to like.

Copping It Sweet is a beautiful story about coming back from a dark past and finding the light again. The way Anna Clifton told this story grabbed me immediately. She pulled me in and didn't let me go until the very last page. If you like to read about crime, close family connections and finding love again after hiding from it for a long time, then Copping It Sweet will be the book for you. This story delivers it all.
