Description
Here come the Cream Puffs! Nate and his baseball team, saddled with the most embarrassing moniker in Little League history, want to show the world they’re not just a bunch of cupcakes. But it won’t be easy. Their opponents mock them. The local sports section misprints Nate’s name—THREE TIMES. And now, on the day of the big game, illness and injuries have the team facing a crushing defeat . . . unless the unlikeliest Cream Puff of all can come in from the bullpen and save the day.
With a softhearted pitcher who channels his inner panda, a vengeful girlfriend who swings for the fences, and a healthy dose of Nate Wright mojo, the Cream Puffs just might have what it takes to stage an epic comeback. So grab a glove, smear on some eyeblack, and get in the game. You don’t want to miss a single moment of Revenge of the Cream Puffs!

Everything you want from a Big Nate comic book. Lots of time with his friends, with Jenny and Arnold, with Kim, and with Spitsy. We also get to see Big Nate interacting in school and, of course, in detention. We also learn that he is terrified of cats. A fun book. Four and a half stars This book comes out September 6
Yes! Another book I will never have to shelve. These books are so popular and to be honest--I'm as excited about a new one as the kids are.
Another selection of weird and droll comic strips from the world's favourite 'goofy tweenaged male disaster area not called Wimpy Kid.' While some of the subjects of the strips in their daily format, that amount to full two- or 3-week stories, can be unusual (case in hand, the local newspaper misprinting Nate's name), there is a lot of familiarity in the content, and it all works as a reasonably entertaining glimpse of this humorous world.
Big Nate is up to his usual antics at school at home - he always try to figure out a way to do less and get more and it usually lands him in hot water. This year, his baseball team is sponsored by Cressly's Bakery and have been stuck with the worst name ever - the Cream Puffs. They don't get a lot of respect with a name like that but manage to persevere. When it's time for the big game, the team is riddled with injuries and sick players and they're forced to turn to their bench.
Even though they're aimed at middle grade readers, I'm a big fan of Lincoln Peirce's Big Nate books and was excited to read the latest book in the series, BIG NATE: THE REVENGE OF THE CREAM PUFFS. This book did not disappoint. Nate has an over-inflated sense of importance and is always trying to figure out a way around things. Things rarely go the way he planned so he stays in trouble. You can't help but like him, though, because he's earnest and really does have good intentions. I think the real appeal of Big Nate is that most people see a little of themselves in him.
Another great episode in the World according to Big Nate. My son is a a huge Big Nate fan. Has read all his books. I gave this to him. He is the appropriate age, twelve. He loved it. Actually he loved it 4 times so far. I recommend this book to all the kids who dig Nate and his buddies.
Another great collection of strips. Funny as always. Enjoyed by all my children.
Would recommend for ages 7+
Despite the baseball team mentioned in the title, most of this takes place in school, where Nate—who is definitely not that big—spends all his time in detention, which leads him to write a romance novel. Other plots include a “Yo Momma” showdown and a grudge chess match, where Nate pulls a move out of my playbook; hope none of my usual opponents read this.
He’s a bit of a butt monkey, so there might be some cringing, especially with the big girl who thinks he’s her boyfriend, but luckily it’s usually laughable. Nothing goes over the top, which I think is a good thing, although some people would disagree.
Big Nate and friends are back with fun & sun. Love this series for my kids and know every time I pick one up for them to read we will all be laughing out loud at the gangs shenanigans.
Big Nate: Revenge of the Cream Puffs by Lincoln Peirce. This is a graphic novel series about a young boy, Nate, in middle school. As Nate goes through middle school, he encounters many trials, from losing in a baseball game to getting embarrassed by his dad.
The artwork in this book is simple and consistent throughout. As I read I felt like I was watching an animated movie. The drawings of the characters, the settings and even the speech bubbles are cute, and creative.
This book is geared for middle grade readers. Nate goes through common experiences that every student experiences; such as, flunking a test, having ideas that he thinks could make him a millionaire, having verbal very stupid battles with his best friends and facing his fears. The characters in this book are funny. All the middle school stereotypes are played out truthfully.
I give this book a 3 out of 5 stars because I really liked it but it was not all that extraordinary.
I received this book from Andrews McMeel Publishing via Netgalley in exchange for a honest review.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an Advanced Reader Copy in exchange for an objective review. My kids and I have enjoyed all the Big Nate books, and this was no exception. We highly recommend it!
It's Big Nate, need I say more. In his super hilarious comic strips he's always trying to be a little wiseguy. You'll definitely get a laugh or two out of it. It's aimed to children, BUT, as an adult I still enjoy them very much, so I'm gonna go with the five on this one.
Kids love these books. I guess they can relate to a lot to Nate’s strife’s with school and chores.
