An Affair of Honor By Heather Boyd

I'm a huge fan of the unconventional romance. The one where the lady falls for the groom or the commoner. The one where the Lord loses his heart to the servant or the courtesan. I enjoy reading the unexpected romance and this story by Heather Boyd fits perfectly into that category. She gives you a story of convenience that could lead to more even though society doesn't agree with the Lords and Ladies mixing with the common class.

The heroine is a servant who just wants to do a good job. She is determine and committed. And when he boss comes home from a battle near death she is determined to make sure he doesn't die.

The hero is a grandson to a Duke, and Navy captain with a particular sexual interest. He has had an unnatural attraction to his servant and even though he knows it's wrong he can't help himself.

When he asks her to be in love with him to avoid marrying a woman he can't stand, she reluctantly agrees. But things take an unexpected turn and they end up married, Neither of them wants it but it's necessary. They make an agreement that it's temporary but will it really be?

Will she get the divorce she wants or will their hearts become involved??

There is BDSM in this story but it is written so that the heroine maintains her dignity and it's very erotic. It is a beautifully written love story that will capture your emotions and leave you wanting more.

The characters are multi dimensional and not your typical romances hero and heroine. There are some twists and emotional upheaval.

I am looking forward to reading the next book

As one door closes another opens for Captain William Ford. Forced to leave behind his life of sea-faring command, he seeks to settle into a less adventurous role of society living. Easier said then done. Thrown into a sea of scheming marriage minded women he's at a loss on how to navigate these potentially lethal waters until he meets Matilda and comes up with a plan that will help them both. Matilda seeks the security of making her own choices and not having to answer to anyone or beg for anything. William seeks protection from societies vultures seeking a man of means. A mutually beneficial marriage of convenience is just the ticket to give each what they want. Protection, an expiration date and financial security was the plan but fate had other ideas. I received an ARC of An Affair of Honor in exchange for an honest review. No matter how many I read, Heather Boyd's novels are always at the top of my historical romance lists.
