Tema? Scarpe! ;)
I received this book in exchange for an honest review from NetGalley. In Their Shoes is a collection of fairy tales from all over the world. The stories are all tied together in the fact that each story has shoes in the central theme, or shoes become a large part of the story. These stories are a mix of stories I grew up with and stories I have never heard before. It was a delightful assortment of stories and I would highly recommend you pick up this collection.
A book with the retellings of different well know (and not so well known) tales. At the end of each story there is a little note about it, who wrote it, when it was written, little tidbits like that. I like that, especially since there are some stories in there that I had never heard of before.
This book is a fantastic resource for use in the classroom for different topics, such as traditioanl tales, tales from other cultures and countries, and obviously fairytales. There are many children that I would recommend this book to, but I would certainly suggest that adults take a look as well, particularlly if they have an interest in fairytales.
This was a very cute re-telling of several classic fairy tales - all with the binding thread of being related somehow to shoes! If you're a fan of fairy tales, or just have a shoe fetish, this is a good, quick read. I especially liked the re-tellings that I was unfamiliar with, such as the very first short story.
This is a nice collection of fairytales, literally perfect for the sub-unit I am teaching later this fall. I look forward to using this book in the classroom for research as my students select fairytales and retellings to study!
A beautiful collection of beloved fairy tales re-told! I love that at the end of each story there is a historical snippet, telling of the origins of the story and about the author.
This would make for excellent bedtime story material - although I would recommend it for 6+ years old, just for the sake of story length and content.
Nicely done take on classics. I can see a lot of students reading and enjoying this book.
Excellent book with a selection of fairy tales & folktales that every school library should own.
With 2 versions of Cinderella, teaching staff can share them with their students for comparisons instead of searching for other books.
I'm sure I'm not the only one that had not read some of these versions.
The stories inside are literally, featuring shoes. In all forms. Cinderella's dancing shoes, puss in its boots, the twelve dancing princesses and their shoes and some more of them. It may seem to be a little odd but the author has creatively picked up the stories containing the magic of shoes and traced back their origins and presented a great collectible.
Some stories are quite different from the Disney versions or even Grimm versions bordering to folklore.
The book makes an interesting read when these stories come together.
