good writing for the most part. Interesting and unique plot.
Bedeviled Angel

A fun, fantasy love story for fangirls who always wanted to know what Super Heroes/Heroines got up to in their spare time. It is billed as Paranormal Sci-Fi, but there is nary a fang, furball or ghost in sight. There are those with Paranormal Powers and Cyborgs galore, so I would have placed it in Sci-Fi Romance.
As someone who spent part of the late 1980's wondering when Bruce Wayne(Batman) and Celina Kyle (Catwoman) would finally give in, and spent most of the 1990's riveted to the Gambit/Rogue romance in X-Men, this is just my style. Complete with silly costumes, code names and butlers who know too much, Ms. Miller gives us a cheeky love story while winking at those of us who salivate at the chance to go to ComiCon.
Jack is a tragic hero – not quite as damaged as say one of Sherrilyn Kenyon's heroes – but still wounded by the betrayal of a man he thought was a friend or at least a friendly co-worker at ULTRA, the agency that monitors the Superpowered folk. Kind of like what was proposed in Captain America: Civil War. Jack was one of the good guys who stumbled on the bad guys' plot and lost everything. He lost his beloved wife (also an Ultra Agent), his freedom (he was found guilty of Carol's, his wife's murder) and he lost his limbs due to a horrible beating in prison that led to cybernetic implants that he has to maintain himself since he is still on the run.
Misty is a member of the Paranormal Powered all girl team – the Angels. She has a privileged life, regardless of her extracurricular activity. She is able to dematerialize and reform. And meeting Jack turns that life upside down.
The writing is above average and moves at a steady, quick pace, making the reading keep turning the pages. Everything plays out as it should and there is a HEA. No great revelations. This is book twoin the series, so they seem to work as stand alones. A great end of summer read, on that last trip to the beach or for recovery from back to school shopping.
