This story moved me to tears, stirred my thoughts, made me smile, and really opened my eyes to what life is like for soldiers returning home and the struggles they deal with. Noah has faced far more in his life than one person should have to, and it was uplifting and inspiring to see him never let it defeat him, if anything it only made him stronger. He is a truly a remarkable man, with a very courageous spirit, and true example of an American hero!
I watched him on Dancing With The Stars and American Grit, and often said he should write and book, because I knew it would be a very inspiring read and I have to say it truly exceeded all of my expectations and left me in complete awe! Reading his inspiring story was a very memorable experience for me, one I know that will linger with me for a very long time!
Highly recommend you pick up this book, it is a remarkable story of resilience and a true testament to the unwavering strength of the human spirit!
ARC requested through NetGalley, and kindly provided by FaithWords / Center Street Publishing in exchange for a honest and unbiased review.
I received this from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This is what a True Hero is. Not just for serving his country, but for his strength in all he has had to endure in life. He told his story with such honesty and rawness that I admire. Some of my favorite moments were with his parents and there way of dealing with his injuries. They were incredible! This is a must read.
Noah Galloway is my new hero!! I highly recommend this book to anyone who needs to be reminded they do not have it as bad as they may think they do. This man not only has shown courage as a soldier but as a man who had every right to be bitter. He has made the best of his circumstances and come out the other side showing those of us who do not have a disability that we should be thankful every day for all of our blessings. I would like to thank Noah Galloway for his service to our country and for this very inspiring read that makes me want to be a better person. This story read like he was telling it to me himself and I could almost reach out and touch him. I would also like to thank the Publisher and Net Galley for the chance to read this ARC.
Like many people, I had never heard of Noah Galloway until he was a contestant on Dancing With The Stars. With his appearance on the show, I was immediately struck by the fact that he didn't expect special treatment because of his disabilities. He showed himself to be hard working and upbeat, obviously well-liked by the other contestants, and willing to try moves in dancing that would have been difficult even for someone who wasn't missing limbs.
This book reflects the Noah we came to know on DWTS. His co-writer did a good job of coming across as totally his words, his story. The book isn't afraid to show the less than heroic side of Noah. He doesn't shy away from admitting his faults in his relationships and some of the actions he's taken in his life. None of that detracts, however from this brave man's GOOD qualities and actions. We all have problems in our lives, but reading how Noah has handled himself with his injuries, his depression, and his recovery, puts everything into perspective. He's truly a role model and inspiration for all of us.
I received a copy of this book from Netgalley for my honest review. The first time I saw Noah Galloway on Dancing With The Stars I wanted to know more about him. His biography was very well written and honest! He gave us the good and the bad of his life! Thank you for shining light on depression and it can affect anyone. Learning about how he conquered obstacles after his accident made me feel blessed with my life. There is always someone else who had it rougher than ourselves. Mr. Galloway was honest about his errors in life, his triumphs and his love of his family! I finished this book in one day since I could not put it down! Thank you for your service to our country Noah! This is one of the best biographies I have read in a long time! I don't think you will be disappointed in this book.
A excellent autobiography by Noah Galloway whom I hold in high respect. This is a man who survived incredible odds only to defy his injuries received in the war and overcome to reach a higher pinnacle in his life. He is a person to be admired for his positive attitude and his encouragement to our veterans. He has danced on Dancing With The Stars which left me in tears with every dance.. Watching his journey on Dancing I saw him never give up, never falter and his positive attitude was inspiring . He is devoted to and a model for all veterans . He has a great positive attitude that serves every reader well and is food for thought. I was incredibly touched to read this book , inspired to do better in my own life and left with a magnitude of respect forever for this man. . Well Done Sir, Thank you for your service to our great country .
Thank you to Net Galley and FaithWords/Center Street for the e-ARC of this title. It was just what I needed. I struggle with depression and anxiety, and this book came at a point I was worrying about many things. It was life changing, seeing that Noah could've been bitter, he could've wallowed in his problems...but he was positive and remade his life. I thank Noah for his service. My son in law is in the Army, so it's a subject that hits close to home. Highly recommended.
Really liked this book. Great insight and first hand experience from a soldier. His journey through his injuries and getting past his own demons was inspiring. Easy to read and entertaining. Highly recommend.
Wow. Living With No Excuses has got to be one of the most, if not the most inspirational book I have ever read.
I feel like I could say so much about how inspiring his story is but I feel like I could never do it any justice. Noah was very honest about how loosing 2 of his limbs affect him not only physically, but also mentally. He details his battles in such a way that he makes loosing 2 limbs not sound like the end of the world, even though to most people it probably would be.
Even if books about people who actually exist is not your thing, I would highly recommend that you read Living With No Excuses anyway as Noah Galloway’s story is now that you should not miss.
In his inspiring autobiography, Living with No Excuses: the Remarkable Rebirth of an American Soldier, Noah Galloway tells the story of his harrowing journey from his horrendous injuries on the battlefield to his unlikely success on Dancing with the Stars, and the heroic struggles in between. Galloway pulls no punches as he discusses the difficulty of recovery from his catastrophic injuries. In his characteristic frankness, Galloway records his battle with depression while maintaining his role as a husband and father. He also goes into great detail about the physical challenges of being a double amputee. Galloway is open about his faults and failures and what they cost him and those he loves.
Told from a purely secular viewpoint, Living With No Excuses is told in an engaging style. Galloway is both humorous and cynical, but brutally honest. He tackles difficult issues head on and does not apologize for his personal opinion or perspective. One cannot help but admire his perseverance and determination to overcome the obstacles in his path, including his own shortcomings. However, Galloway’s drive to success often comes at the expense of relationships, specifically marriages. This disturbing pattern is repeated throughout the book and may be the result of the trauma he experienced on the battlefield. Readers may find his use of language objectionable.
Despite these drawbacks, Noah Galloway’s story and service are not only eye-opening but deserve our respect. Living with No Excuses: The Remarkable Rebirth of an American Soldier is a true-life tale of human bravery and perseverance in the most difficult circumstances.
I was given a free copy from the publisher in exchange for my honest review.
