Description

When successful model Ciara Kelly wakes up in the hospital, remembering nothing of the weeks she has been missing, her only clues are the ugly words carved into her skin. According to the police, she was a victim of the Cutter, a serial killer who has already murdered three women. For her protection the police and her doctors give a press conference, announcing that because her amnesia is organically caused, her memory loss is permanent. But, whether her memory returns or not is anybody’s guess.

Overnight, Ciara’s glamorous life is gone. Her scars have killed both her modeling career and her relationship with her rich boyfriend. With nothing to keep her in New York, she returns to her home town of Seattle, moves in with her sister and goes about building a new life. But when her sister lets it slip that Ciara’s memory is returning, the killer comes after her again. If Ciara is to stay alive, she must keep one step ahead of the Cutter.

I love when a story begins right in the middle of the action. Scar Tissue did not disappoint - it grabbed me right at the start and held my interest all the way through. The plot was somewhat predictable and the "twist" was no surprise, but it was an entertaining read that made me feel more like I was smart for figuring it out rather than feeling like the author gave it away too early. I understand there is a sequel coming out...given the way this story ended and the things that happened to the main character in this book I would imagine future books will take a slight sci/fi bent, which I am very much looking forward to.

Ciara wakes in hospital with no memory of what had happened to her or why she's there. The police tell her she had been rapped and tortured by a man they call the cutter and is lucky to be alive as he is known to have murdered some woman. The last she can remember is being at a photo shoot where she was a top model, after that nothing. The cutter has carved words in to her body and for her own protection the police tell the press she has amnesia and it's looking like it will never come back.
She has now not only lost the job she enjoyed but also her wealthy boyfriend who doesn't seem to want to know her any more
The police try to protect her but she has to go on the run as the cutter seems to be hot on her trail. Even after changing her name and appearance she doesn't feel safe until one day the cutter grabs her again. Will she get out alive or will she be tortured once again and this time killed once he has finished with her.
This book kept me hooked and I can't wait for the next book to come out.

SCAR TISSUE is a great suspense novel. It will keep you reading into the night and guessing until the very end.

I really enjoyed this book. Even though it's pretty easy to tell who the "serial killer" is, it doesn't take away from the action, which is pretty constant, or the romance factor towards the end. I really liked the main character, Ciara and the book was very well done. All in all, the fast moving book was a pleasure to read. I look forward to reading more books by this author.

This one will keep you awake all night wanting to find out the end

She had it all, beauty, a wealthy boyfriend, a successful modeling career and life was nearly perfect, until she lost it all at the end of the Cutter’s blade. Ciara awoke in a hospital bed, only to find she had not only lost weeks of her life to amnesia, but those weeks were as a captive of a twisted serial killer and she was “lucky,” she was the one who got away. Ciara did not get away unscathed, she was broken, battered and her looks had been stolen by the heinous scars that were carved into her body and now she has lost her boyfriend. She did, however, gain something that may serve her well, if she can just grasp the reality of it!

With only her sister to lean on, she moves across the country to Seattle to heal, recreate herself and try to move on, knowing the monster is still out there, and he may find her again to finish what he started. Only her sister knew her memory was returning, and the slip she made to the wrong person has put Ciara back into the crosshairs of the Cutter, who is determined to finish what he started. As Ciara’s life once again becomes a terrifying nightmare, she has no one to trust, no one to help and a growing suspicion that the killer was not running the show, but merely a puppet being controlled by someone she may know.

Do you like to feel so smart by figuring out who the villains are? Good luck with this one as M.C. Domovitch tosses out clues like breadcrumbs in the woods! SCAR TISSUE is one of those suspense-filled reads that defies to be unraveled until the author is ready! Far from a plastic doll or a shrinking violet, Ciara becomes a woman of grit when the odds are stacked against her. No, she is not an avenging angel now, she is, however internally strong and she may not even truly see it, herself. Her ex-boyfriend’s family could be the poster children for the words dysfunctional, self-centered, conniving, well, you get the picture. Clearly money cannot buy humanity. This is Ciara’s story, her journey, her tale of fear, danger and leaving the woman she was behind for a much better version. Now, if only she could learn to trust and love again.

Cover to cover suspense! The shadowed villain, the double-crosses, the lies, they are all here and M.C. Domovitch has woven a dark tale that will keep you guessing the entire time! I changed my mind three times throughout this tale, and yep, I was still wrong!

A New York model is kidnapped and tortured but manages to escape. In a coma for days when she wakes she cannot remember anything. Leaving her old life behind she moves in with her sister and her sister lets it slip that she may be remembering what had happened to her. She begins a new life and when she touches a corpse she can see their last moments and thoughts which scares her because her grandmother had always been alittle fey. Then the attacks on her life begin again and she goes on the run back to New York disguised as a murder victim she has taken for her new identity. Can she discover who is trying to kill her before they succeed. Great read. I would like to thank the Publisher and Net Galley for the chance to read this ARC.

This thriller about a model who is suffering from amnesia after being attacked by the "Cutter" was an engaging short read. Some of the plotlines were predictable and there was a lot going on at once but I would still recommend this to fans of thrillers that like a short read.

What did I think of it:
5 stars
This book was a hole lot better then I thought it was going to be, right from the start it had me hooked and pulled in to the story ,so much so that that I had to keep reading , just could not stop reading even if I wanted to, it mad you feel every thing that Ciara went though , plus it keeps you guessing on who would want Ciara out of the way , this is a must read ,once again I have to say that did its job so well that it kept me pulled in to the story to the ever end,and kept me guessing though out the story because of the conflicting clues , plus I liked how it was told though out the story. With that said I would love to say thinks to Netgalley for once again giving me a chance at reading a really great book, in a change for my 100% honest opinion,

A model what's the harm in that? What did she do to wake up one day in a hospital? She remembers nothing from the last few weeks, that in itself is terrifying! She tries to go on with life and fails, someone is after her, her friends, she goes under deeper and is she safe now? You'll have to read the book. It is well written. I read it at night when I couldn't sleep. Its a fast read. It has its jumps here and there but its not a SCARYYYY book.

In Scar Tissue (CreateSpace 2017), first in MC Domovich's two-book Mindsight series, Ciara Kelly, a successful fashion model on her way to supermodel status, is kidnapped and tortured by a madman who carves profanity into her skin. She finally escapes only to be run down by a car and end up in a weeks-long coma. When she finally awakens, she can't remember anything that happened after the completion of her final photo shoot. Her physicians have no idea if or when she might recover her memory, but do note that she has unusual activity in a normally quiet part of the brain. Without her memories, the police can't track down her torturer and Ciara starts a new life as a cosmetician for a mortuary, far from New York where it happens. What she hoped would be a peaceful separation from the horror she experienced ends when she accidentally touches a dead child and relives her last moments in full detail. Concurrently, she begins to remember what happened during her captivity. Getting her memory back is not something the torturer will allow so she again must flee, using every cerebral and physical skill she has to stay at least a step ahead of the man who now wants to murder her.

This is a clever, story as much about the hearts and minds of those involved as it is her flight to freedom. And it has a zinger of an ending you won't want to miss. This is well-recommended for those who like murder mystery mixed with a dab of romance and a touch of the paranormal.

She had to keep running if she expected to escape her captor even though Ciara didn’t know how much farther she could go. Ciara hadn’t had any real food in days and only had sips of water. Ciara seen headlights she ran into the road and was hit by a car and was now in a coma. When she came to her sister Diedre was there. Ciara had been in a coma seventeen days and had been missing eight days. Ciara couldn’t remember anything after getting in the new BMW Brent had let her borrow to leave the photoshoot then Ciara woke up in the hospital. Ciara had a feeling something was being kept from her. From the day Ciara had signed on with Goudreault Modeling Agency Ciara’s dream had been to work with world renowned photographer Ivan Hearst. His shots graced the covers of cosmopolitan, Harper’s Bazaar, and even Vogue frequently. The photoshoot had gone great Ciara had her makeup done by Ethne- the most famous makeup artist in NYC. ciara felt Ivan would ask for her again as he put her in the forefront of all hs shots today. Being one of Ivan’s favorite models would ensure Kiara a long and successful career. All ciara remembered was climbing in Brent’s BMW then nothing. Ciara had a cut that was only a few hours old when Ciara had been hit. Ciara had been the victim of the Cutter. The Cutter was the name the media cave a rapist/murderer after three girls had been tortured to death. Ciara had seen an ad about self defense lessons and took some to get her life back. After Ciara knew her career in modeling was over she decided to move with her sister in Seattle. Ciara took a Ciara took a make up artistry course and ended up working in a funeral home because of the jobs market as she owed her sister for paying for her daily needs her course and all the things she needed to get for the course . She alo had medical bills left to pay. Geraldine- brent’s mother who had never liked Ciara with Brent overheard him talking to Deidre and heard about her starting to remember. Then Geraldine made a call of her own. Lars got the call about Ciara and he knew he had to capture Ciara again. Nothing had felt so good as those eight days he had Ciara in his power. Ciara was doing well at the funeral home and two little girls came in= sisters killed in a farming accident. Ciara touched one of the girls hands without her latex glove and saw how the girls had died. To Lars Ciara was the only victim that mattered to him - she was special. Lars had brought a van off Craigs list and did his prep work and waited for Ciara as she walked home from work. He did catch her but Ciara fought and got a rock and hit him in the head and he passed out and escaped . Lars came back got into their house and ended up killing Deidre and Ciara was again on the run.
A good story and I enjoyed it. I liked how Ciara fought back and refused to just be taken a second time even after she found her sister murdered by Lars. I also liked how Ciara got over her dislike of the funeral home and liked working there. It was great to see Ciara keep her head together and do whatever she had to do to survive. It was a little slow at times but you wanted to keep going to find out what was next and who the murderer was. I loved the character and the ins and outs of this story and I recommend.

This book was eerie and creepy and I loved it! The main character can't seem to catch a break as she is hunted through the years by a mad man who can't get her off his mind. I found myself rooting for her because she had a picture perfect world that crashed down on her and you just want her to come out in the end on top. This book certainly set up the main character for more mysteries and become the unintended hero.

Ciara Kelly, a successful model, is abducted, held for weeks while being tortured by a man the media now calls The Cutter. He likes using a knife and carving words into womens' flesh. Ciara is not his first victim ... nor will she be the last.

Somehow Ciara escapes and she wakes up in a hospital. She remembers nothing of her lost time. In order to protect her, the police and her doctor give a press conference stating that she has no memory and the loss is permanent.

Ciera returns to her home town and moves in with her sister. When her sister tells someone that maybe Ciara's memory is returning, the Cutter comes after her again.

Ciara finds herself running from the killer, running from the police.

Fast-paced action. Very suspenseful situations. Lots of suspects. Killer is really nasty. I had an inkling who the killer was, but that didn't distract from the story. Story line was well thought out with definitive character development.

Model Ciara Kelly wakes up in a hospital but she remembers nothing of the weeks she had been missing. The only clue she had were the words carved into her skin. The police think that she may have been the victim if the Cutter, a serial killer who has already murdered 3 women.

Ciara's life has now been changed completely. She has lost her looks, rich boyfriend and her glamorous lifestyle. She has now returned to her hometown, is living with her sister and has a new career doing the makeup in a funeral parlour. Now her memory seems to be slowly returning, Ciara's sister accidentally tells someone this. Will the Cutter set out to find her.

I had no idea while reading this book who the Cutter was. I would compare it to finding a needle in a haystack as we are diverted from the truth often.
This novel is so well written that I had my heart in my mouth at times. Ciara is such a strong character, the storyline would not have worked otherwise. A definite must read.

I really liked this book it didn't click for me until more than 80% through the book (don't want to spoil it for anyone). When I read the blurb it sounded thrilling to me and I was not disappointed. Ciara was very real in her thoughts but am glad she had a future with her guy. I would have been upset if he were involved in anyway. So sad about her sister. This was my first book by this author and would read more if available. A must read if you like mysteries

I am a bit mixed on this one. I liked the premise quite a bit and the main character Ciara, but I like to be surprised by the mystery in a thriller and I had almost all of the whodunit figured out which was a bit disappointing. There were some misdirects tossed in that I was hoping would lead to a different villain so I could be caught by surprise but that never happened. Also there were a few too many coincidences within the plot and characters that rang a bit false and I didn't think needed to be there. On the positive side and why I ultimately ended up liking it--the story moved well, the plot and pacing kept me interested and it was a quick read. The ending and the slightly paranormal spin to part of the story seemed like it could be setting up for another book with the main character and I would definitely give it a try.

This book was absolutely riveting! Once I started it I couldn't stop and it was done in two days! The story-line hooks you in right at the beginning and the whole time you are trying to figure out who is involved. The ending is fantastic and only added to the enjoyment I felt reading this book!

Scar Tissue is definitely a page turner, and was very hard to put down. Ciara's Kelly's life has been totally turned upside down after she escapes from a serial killer called The Cutter, with no memory of her captivity or her captor. She loses her modeling career, her fiancé, and doesn't know where to turn or who to trust, other than her twin sister. The killer is determined to recapture Ciara and finish what he started, and nothing will stop him, even mistaken identity. This book is a complex thriller and leaves you, like Ciara, wondering who to trust and also wondering where her new psychic abilities have come from.

I highly recommend this book as a fast paced thriller with twists and turns that will keep you guessing until the very end.

Wonderful read! What you reap, you will sow! All kinds of scripture is worked that is relevant is worked into this novel. It's a very steady read, and I throughly enjoyed it. I moved right onto reading the sequel. Claire wakes up with words carved into her. Her memory muddled and she is the only living victim of the Cutter.

Excellent read. I'm off to leave my review of the second book. My copy came from Net Galley. My thoughts and opinions are my own. This review is left of my own free volition.
