Describing Catch Me Cowboy as light, fun and flirty would be a step too far, but this is a really good read, if a little angsty. It's very much a story of second chances for both Shelby and Ty, who parted company four years earlier when career paths and family loyalties got in the way. Set in and around the fictitious town of Marietta Montana, this is a small town story with all the heart that goes with that sort of tale. I liked both Shelby and Ty, though I kept wanting to tell Shelby to lighten up a little. I enjoyed the flow of this story and I liked the way things worked out. I zipped through the pages and really enjoyed the journey. This story is perfect rainy day reading.

Catch Me, Cowboy the 1st book in the 78th Copper Mountain Rodeo Series was a great read. Sexy cowboys, second chance love, and a sweet Gramps what's not to love? 4 years ago Shelby and Ty broke up and it hurt them both. He wanted her to come on the road with him while he was in the rodeo and she wanted him to give up the rodeo and stay. They went their own way. Years later Ty is back in town and he wants to pick up where he left off with Shelby.
From the start of this book it was clear to see that Ty and Shelby were still in love with each other. They were both deeply hurt over their break up. For the first few chapters I was right there with Shelby, angry at Ty for choosing the rodeo over her. I wanted her to give him hell. To keep him at arm's length, and she did. But as the story went on I found out that he wanted her to go with him and that if she didn't go he still wanted to be together. She was the one that made him choose her or the rodeo and then broke it off with him. That was when I softened on Ty.
Ty was so sexy. After 4 years he still loved Shelby and wanted her. He was stubborn and he was going to do his best to win her back. I love that he was true to himself and was honest with Shelby. As the book went on I was more on Ty's side.
Shelby was scared. She lost her mom and watching Ty riding scared her. So she pushed him away. I can understand it but at times I was frustrated with her. She was very strong in some ways but she had major abandonment issues. She loved Ty and it showed but she was so scared to lose him that it was like she was straddling the fence when they got back together.
Ty and Shelby together had an undeniable connection, but they had some major relationship drama. Some push/pull in this book but it wasn't over the top. I really liked Shelby's Gramps. I thought he brought something special to the book. I was disappointed that even though they loved each other, I don't remember any I love yous being said. I really enjoyed this quick sexy cowboy read. I liked the rodeo aspect of it. I kept hearing Garth Brooks's song Rodeo in my head the whole time I was reading this book! And the ending was very cute!

A wonderful beginning to this multi author series, with great characters and a easy flowing storyline that will reel you in from the very first page!

Catch Me, Cowboy brings together lovers separated by four years and a lot of angst and heartache. Ty made a decision based on his needs at the time, and Shelby has never forgiven him, or recovered from being the disposable part of his life.

Torn by choices of the past and what they both want now; Shelby’s reluctance and fears to take another chance may see them on the road to a replay of their previous relationship.

Love can move mountains, but can it repair the fractured trust of an independent and wilful young woman?

I look forward to the Marietta Rodeo every fall. This year’s series starts out strong with Catch Me, Cowboy (The 78th Copper Mountain Rodeo, Book 1) by Jeannie Watt. The true mystery of this story is rather Shelby will give Ty a second chance. There is enough of Shelby’s POV to make me want to side with her and warn her that he is only there because he has no other choices. Still life does give us second chances that should be taken.

The real life portrayal of life on a working horse training ranch made this story an interesting read, along with the character of Shelby’s Grandfather. In fact, I wondered early on as to why he had been so hurt by Ty’s leaving. It seemed to me that going on the rodeo circuit would be a long range goal not something just decided on the spur of the moment.

The story flows quickly since this is a novella more than a full fledge novel. However, I was impressed with the character development as Shelby and Ty face each other as mature adults. Their story is a reminder that forgiveness is divine and that love can conquer if not all, at least the past.

In Marietta, Montana we find that Ty is returning to town and meets up with his old flame Shelby. Both have to work through trust and past feelings to find their pathway to love. This is another great addition to the series.
Ebook from netgalley and publishers with thanks. Opinion is my own.

Welcome back to Marietta Montana for the running of The 78th Copper Mountain Rodeo – hold onto your hats and hearts, it’s gonna be an interesting ride.

Catch Me, Cowboy is an emotional ride where one moment you’ll be on Shelby’s side, then you’ll “get” why Ty made the decision he did – but most of all you’ll ache for two people who obviously love each other still. It’s been four years since that final phone call, four long years without the other person who made them each stronger. Four long years since an ultimatum tore them apart. Now, less than a year since Ty was involved in a career ending ride, he’s back and planning on stepping into the arena again… and on winning back the woman he’s always loved. He’d worked hard at his recovery, even his doctors were amazed at how quickly he’d healed up. Yet, he needed one last ride, one last chance to sit on the back of an animal who was just as determined to toss him off. Right now, he didn’t know if the circuit was for him again, but he needed to know that if it was available that he could ride again. Maybe he was crazy, driven… and maybe he simply had to make the choice to walk away from it on his terms.

Shelby knew Ty was back before he’d driven up the long gravel driveway. Marietta’s main gossip had done her job well. Didn’t mean she’d looked forward to this, didn’t mean that the hurt at his decision had healed. No, it was just one more day to get through. One more time to face the man she’d loved and try to figure out how to live in the same small town with him.

Circumstances, or fate had conspired to toss them together far more often than Shelby was comfortable with. But Gramps needed help, and Ty was well versed in handling the older gentleman.

In the coming days Shelby would have to face some harsh realities, deal with her fears and make a choice of loving Ty or watching him walk away again. Ty had something to prove to himself, but he also needed Shelby to face the part that she had in his decision back then. He knew they would have torn each other apart… but that happened anyway. There were reasons that he was just now coming to see, and if he couldn’t help her face them and get past them – then they had no chance at all.

It’s always a joy for me to return to Marietta, Montana. And the kickoff story to The 78th Copper Mountain Rodeo series was an amazing start. Ultimatums rarely lead to happy endings. This was a lesson that Shelby learned the hard way. I truly did ache for this young woman, especially as the story continues and a better idea of why she made that ultimatum in the first place emerges. Ty had been caught between a rock and a very hard place, he was mature enough back then to realize that if he stayed it would tear them apart – and knew that when he did leave it would also end what they had. So, even though it’s easy to put the blame on Ty early on… his choice was the right one, for maybe the wrong reasons.

Catch Me, Cowboy is a heart wrenching second chance love story. You may pick one side or the other, but you won’t walk away unemotionally from this story. I would highly recommend Ty and Shelby’s story to any Romance reader who needs the deeper connection, the reasons behind the decisions – and charming, believable characters. If you haven’t visited Marietta Montana before, this would be a lovely introduction.

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this novel. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this story.*

Love this series. Hot cowboys and sassy strong women make an wonderful book to curl up with on a cold wintery day. Throw in the thrill of the rodeo and Montana and you have this story. Ty and Shirley have a history and both have to come to terms with their actions of then and now to go forward. Highly recommend this book and author. Not a new twist but a fun ride just the same.
