I enjoyed this book set in the Cotswolds - not too festive for those who do not like reading books with Christmas in the title before December. I was surprised to discover the author is American as I thought she captured the Cotswolds quite well. I enjoyed the love story between Anna and Colin and it left me wanting more - so it's a good job this is the first book in a new series. I would like to thank the author for a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review although I have to say my kindle didn't like the format and I had to rotate the screen to see all the text.

Anna Vere has been having some tough times in her life so she has decided to make an escape to the Cotswolds for Christmas. When Anna's reserved room at a bed & breakfast is flooded though she's not quite sure what to do until she gets an offer from sexy local carpenter Colin Heath to camp out in Willoughby Close.

What started out as merely helping someone stranded turns into a lot more as Colin and Anna grow closer the more time they spend together. Anna has a secret though that she thinks will keep Colin from wanting a relationship with her on top of the fact she is only supposed to be visiting and will need to return home.

A Cotswold Christmas by Kate Hewitt is a lovely little emotional Christmas romance. The setting seemed to be an odd one to start to have to camp for a holiday but I really began to enjoy the story as I got to know the characters and found the setting to also be quite nice in the end.

Anna had been struggling with a lot when she chose to take her trip and it was good to see her begin to overcome the things worrying her. With being a novella I had wished there had been a bit more depth and getting to know the characters but still good even with the faster pace due to being short.

Anna has fled New York for a Christmas holiday in the Cotswolds after the disintegration of her long time relationship. She hopes to lick her wounds in a quiet country inn, but when she arrives, she learns the inn has flooded and she has nowhere to stay. The innkeeper calls a friend, Colin Heath, believing he can put Anna up in one of the cottages he’s restoring. He agrees to help out, but the cottage he brings Anna to is far from finished and she ends up camping out there in Colin’s sleeping bag. It’s far from ideal, so why is Anna enjoying herself so much? As Anna and Colin grow closer, she wonders if they will have any kind of future once he learns the truth about her. This is a sweet British Christmas novella that readers will enjoy

Anna has been having a very hard time and decides to head off to the Cotswold for Christmas to have some time alone. Things don't go according to plan as the bed & breakfast she was to stay at is flooded.

With no where else to go she ends up staying at Willoughby close. Which is being renovated by local handy man Colin. Well actually she ends up camping here as they house is so unfinished!

As the story progresses Anna and Colin become a lot closer, but Anna has a secret and she is worried that its a deal breaker as far as getting into a relationship is concerned.

This is such a lovely story and very emotional. The scene was so lovely and I would love to read more about Willoughby close!

4 - "This is a much better Christmas than I ever envisioned having." Stars!

Kate Hewitt, starts her new Willoughby Close series with a Christmas Cracker, in the telling of Anna and Colin’s story.

IMAGE.

This was a relatively quick novella to read, but it wasn’t lacking in story or development for me. Anna Vere has traveled from New York to spend two weeks in the peaceful surroundings of a B&B in the Cotswolds, unfortunately those plans go awry from the moment she arrives in that her room at the B&B has been flooded out, so she ends up spending the night in a partially completed, furniture free converted stables…

It wasn’t the holiday she’d anticipated, but maybe, she thought as she snuggled into the sleeping bag, just maybe it would all work out after all…

Not the best start to your Christmas break, but it does bring her into contact with Colin Heath, general nice guy, and contractor responsible for the work being undertaken on the conversion of the stables at Willoughby Close.

He wanted her. She felt right here, in his life… in his arms.

Two weeks spent together over the course of the Christmas season, bring this couple together and expand their feelings for each other very quickly, but how do they look to start a long term committed relationship when they live on opposite sides of the Atlantic ocean...

It was scary, really… how quickly she could see herself slotting into his life.

I really enjoyed A Cotswold Christmas, I can’t really say there is anything massively different with the tropes used, but Kate Hewitt’s writing is extremely agreeable, her characters are easy to get along with, and the drama was well paced and not overdone. A great little opener to what looks like will be at least another four books in the series to come over the coming months.

Anna Vere needed to be alone this Christmas so she left New York and headed to England where booked a room at a B&B in the Cotswolds. When Anna arrives at the B&B, she is informed there has been a flood and she wouldn't be able to stay. Being so close to Christmas, there were no vacancies anywhere close by either. But the innkeeper has another idea. Anna could stay with her cousin, Colin Heath, in one of the cottages he was renovating. The next thing Anna knew, she was being kicked out of there too. So Colin offered Anna the guest room in his house. Anna's Christmas getaway was not going as planned.

Colin was known by his sisters as someone who always took on projects to but never finished them. His friends accused him of being the dreaded serial monogamist. He doesn't don't do flings. But with Anna staying with him, something in Colin changed. He wanted Anna and he knew she wanted him too. But Anna was only there for a short while and she was still getting over her last relationship. Will the magic of Christmas cast a spell on Anna and Colin and give them the gift they both desperately deserve?

From the beautiful cover, to the story, I was glad I read this book. At first it was hard to believe in a relationship that started out so fast when both characters had emotional scars. But the author did a good job bringing Anna and Colin together. So also fit a lot of details into this short book. It is a sweet and inspiring story.

Excellent holiday story with great descriptive writing that painted a beautiful picture of the English countryside during the holiday season. American Anna Vere needed to get away. After a broken engagement a holiday vacation in the Cotswolds, far away from her messed up life seems perfect. It starts out well but when the B&B she is suppose to stay in is flooded, she's stuck looking for somewhere else to stay. She's grateful when a local carpenter, Colin Heath, offers up a manor house in nearby Willoughby Close. Then when that doesn't work out she finds herself staying at the home of the very sexy carpenter. These two have a very intense connection but past hurts make both of them afraid to risk getting attached. As her time to leave comes closer it becomes obvious that their hearts have gotten involved. Will they be brave enough to find a way to make this work??

I highly recommend this one.

2.5 "It’s just… this has all happened so quickly." Stars

There's not really a great deal I can say about A Cotswold Christmas because it is fairly short, and, if I'm honest, didn't really give me that much time to become invested in the characters. But it is romantic and sweet.

"Maybe toppling headlong into a serious relationship after forty-eight hours wasn’t such a good idea."

Anna and Colin were likeable and Kate Hewitt does a great job of bringing the small village feel to the book and introducing you to characters that I'm sure we'll see in the future books, but it was lacking a little in the festive feel for me. Had this been that bit longer with some deeper character development then I'm pretty certain I'd be rating higher. As is was, everything was a little too insta for me. But if you're looking for a quick closed-door romantic fix, it does do that.

A Cotswold Christmas is a lovely introduction to the Willoughby Close series, which at this date has four additional stories to the series. While this is a short novella, it certainly packs a powerful emotional punch.

Life hasn’t worked out quite as Anna had dreamed. Now reeling from emotions that won’t stop pestering her, she’s decided to escape her life in New Your for a bit and travel to the quiet, lovely countryside in England. Almost immediately disaster strikes with a flooded room and nowhere to stay. Anna can’t seem to get a break.

However, the sweet owner of the Bed & Breakfast where she was supposed to have a quiet, charming Christmas does have a solution. Definitely not the holiday Anna had in mind, but one that could certainly work out well in the end.

Colin comes to her rescue with the offer of staying at the in process renovated building that will be rented out in the new year – for now, it’s empty and could be a very ‘back to the basics’ type of accommodations. It doesn’t hurt that Colin is also charming, a bit shy and simply a nice guy. What started out as a disaster soon begins to show signs of a possible romance as Anna and Colin move into friendship then perhaps desiring more. But they live on different continents, so how in the world could a romantic relationship possibly work? Not to mention the unspoken secret that Anna is keeping.

I found A Cotswold Christmas to be a charming, interesting story with believable characters and a quaint setting with a charm of it’s own. Taking a risk on love is always a challenge, but Anna and Colin face more than the average couple in this decision. Rarely do we find perfect in life, but for this couple fate and love work hand in hand. Completely enjoyed my time with these characters, and would not hesitate to recommend this story to any Romance reader, especially those who are addicted to Christmas Romance.

A sweet little snowmance novella. Perfect read to curl up with a big mug of tea or hot chocolate and relax. Enjoyed reading about the village of Wychwood-on-Lea as well as the backgrounds of both Anna and Colin.

The ending seemed a bit rushed but I am looking forward to reading other books in this series.

In A Cotswold Christmas a Willoughby Close prequel by Kate Hewett, Anna Vera travels from New York to the quaint Cotswold village of Wychwood-on Lea. She plans on celebrating Christmas alone in order to heal after a break-up with her fiancé and have time to adjust to her dashed dreams of a family of her own. When she arrives though, her room at the B&B is flooded and there are no other rooms available for the holiday. Anna finds a room in Willoughby Close, homes newly converted from stables and she also finds a sexy carpenter, Collin Heath. At first what starts out as Collin merely helping out a neighbor, quickly develops into a lovely Christmas romance. They find an unexpected chemistry and understanding between each other as though they had known each much longer. Each though, has secrets and problems that could end their relationship.

This was a short novella that appears to be the start of a new series. The two main characters are fairly well developed for such a short book, but the other characters are only really introduced. Even short it was an enjoyable book that can be read in a day. As an introduction to a new series, it works. Hopefully I’ll be able to continue with the series to see how the story progresses.

Anna Vere wants to spend the Christmas holidays alone. She has too many issues to deal with. She going to the English Cotswolds. Her plan is perfect until she arrives to find her room is flooded and that there are no other accommodations available. When The owner of the Bed and Breakfast asks her cousin for help, Anna finds herself staying in a partially renovated cottage in Willoughby Close. Colin is always helpful and goes out of his way to make Anna comfortable. Attraction simmers between them. Is this the beginning of a forever love? Anna is fragile. Life has dealt her some hard blows and she needs time to recover. Colin Heath is a good man. He may not handle social situations with perfect finesse but he tries to do what is right. I enjoyed seeing Anna and Colin grow close and become romantically involved. I was caught up in their story. They both were burdened by loss and guilt. It wasn't easy for them to take a chance. I wanted them to find happiness together. I could feel their love. I just wasn't sure how they would overcome the obstacles. The setting is perfect, the story is emotional and the dialogue is tender. Who could ask for more? I'm looking forward to the next book in the Willoughby Close series.

This beautiful cover makes you want to pick this book up and escape to a comfy armchair infront of a roaring fire and just lose yourself for a few hours.

Anna is escaping for Christmas and disaster strikes when the room she's booked is flooded. She's offered an empty cottage to sleep in and although not the height of luxury, the charm of the Cotswolds wraps itself around her. You can just imagine yourself opening the door of your own private cottage and taking your dog for walks around the village.

Colin takes pity on her and the romance takes a delightful turn. I really loved the heartwarming feel of this book and the delightful scenery that is described so beautifully.

A sweet Christmas romance. Anna needed to get away from the holiday's after a broken engagement. She leaves New York and heads to the English countryside of Cotswold. She has booked into a quaint B&B, but upon arrival finds she can not stay there. The owner has offered her to stay else where, when she meets sexy carpenter, Colin to come to her rescue. What starts of as friendship develops into much more. Both with previous hurts can they trust each other to move forward.

A short story, with a great introduction into a new series. Loved the descriptive writing of the English countryside. I must say, "that kiss" was the perfect first kiss. I highly recommend this book. I received a copy from netgalley for an honest review.

Perfect Christmas vacation in English Cotswolds becomes Ann's worst nightmare. When she arrived at B&B in Cotswold, she finds out she no longer has a room due to flood in her B&B. She wanted a quiet vacation for herself but she is faced with this situation in worst possible way. Frances, B&B owner suggests Ann can stay with her carpenter cousin Colin.
Colin is working at stable turn into small cabins. Some of the cabins were close to finish and when he heard Ann needed a place, he offered one of the cabin that will be rented out in January. It wasn't The Plaza, but Ann was happy with scenery and fresh air.
But that didn't last long when owner of Manor found out it was occupied, Colin offers his guest room. Ann is escaping from her previous relationship. Ann has a secret and that gets in the way of opening up to Colin. Both are getting comfortable with each other and it is close to Christmas.
However, Ann has hard time opening to Colin and she is afraid of taking a leap. Her condition will be in the way. (But it seems like too much at times).
Will both open up to each other and find happiness???.

A Cotswold Christmas (Willougby Close, Book 1) begins a sweet heartfelt new romantic series by Kate Hewitt. Thanks to an unfortunate incident Anna Vere has no place to stay after flying all the way from America to spend Christmas in the Cotswolds. Enter master carpenter Colin Heath who finds her a place to stay; a friendship begins. While I thought this part of the story felt a bit contrived, the characters were wonderfully drawn with a natural attraction, so in the end I didn’t mind at all. I enjoyed the setting, the community people and Colin’s family. If I was to spend Christmas away from home this is exactly the kind of place I would want to go.

Because it is novella in length it flows quickly with Ana and Colin moving from friends to so much more swiftly. Still it honestly didn’t feel rushed or incomplete. The six months later epilogue was a big reason why the story felt as if it came to a satisfying conclusion. So now, I look forward to the next book in the series.

A short sweet read, “A Cotswold Christmas” is a picturesque novella that makes you feel good and warm all over.

The book follows New Yorker Anna Vere and Wychwood-on-Lea native Colin Heath, who met under the most unusual circumstances. Anna unexpectedly found herself without accommodations for her Christmas vacation at the Cotswolds and Colin just happened to be the man who saved the day.

What happened next was also unexpected – Anna and Colin have a mutual attraction to each other which can become serious if the Atlantic was literally not an ocean to cross for them to find their happily ever after.

A thoroughly enjoyable read, and like what I said earlier it is a very short read. Still, the best part is that the Cotswolds is so much part of the story it is almost a character on its own. Author Kate Hewitt described it so vividly that it made me put it on my bucket list of places to visit. The Cotswolds Visitor Bureau should include this novella in its press kit.

“A Cotswold Christmas” is Rated T for Teens. There are no sex scenes in this book but it is implied that it happened.

This is a very atmospheric seasonal read but at the same time it is not overly Christmassy. I really enjoyed the atmosphere of the little village and the Cotswold.

A Cotswold Christmas is the prequel to the Willoughby Close series and it made me really curious about the actual series.
Some things felt a little bit rushed, especially the relationship between Anna and Colin. They are both stating this throughout the story but I really would have liked to read more about the two and I hope we will see them again in the actual series.
Colin was my fave character in this book. I liked how much he was down-to-earth and caring about friends, family, and even strangers. Anna felt a bit distant to me, she felt like a typical New York business woman but I could start to feel how she was warming up to the rural village and Colin.

The writing style was very enjoyable and I will look out for more books by Kate Hewitt.

Life for Anna has been quite tough and so she decides to have a break in the lovely Cotswold village of Wychwood-on-Lea, but as with her life this doesn't run smoothly and the B and B she has booked gets flooded out.

Rather than go back home she accepts and offer from local carpenter Colin to camp out in Willoughby Close, the stables that he is converting into cottages, and gradually as they get to know each other the attraction appears and we find out what is wrong in Anna's life and why she is here

A lovely little novella that has given me a taste for future books that are due to come in the series

This quick and easy holiday romance was cute, but not as satisfying as I’d hoped. Maybe its brevity precluded some of the depth I’ve come to appreciate in cozy romance novels.

Anna heads to the Cotswolds from New York City, hoping for a respite from the pressures of life: relationships, work, and family. What she finds is no room at the inn, and a second-rate offer by the innkeeper’s cousin Colin. Colin is a happy go lucky guy who forms an attraction for Anna.

I won’t spoil it, but when two roads diverge in a yellow wood, Anna and Colin don’t have too many choices: they fall for each other or they don’t… someone moves halfway around the world or someone doesn’t.

This is book one in a series, and it definitely seemed like an introduction. I wanted more substance, some subplots, and a more memorable hero. But it was charming and well-written, and a nice way to familiarize readers with a new setting… especially for the price ($2.99). Here’s hoping book two hits me right in the heart!

After a 4 month stressful period in New York, only child Anna plans a quiet Christmas holiday in the Cotswolds. Unfortunately her room in the booked B&B is flooded, so there is literally no room at the inn. Through various tangled relationships she ends up using the spare bedroom of the local capenter Colin. despite her strained feelings, Anna and Colin have an instant connection and it's nice to have narrative from both in the couple as to how the relationship is coming along.

The romance comes along fast - it's a matter of days before they're sleeping together and she's meeting his family for Christmas - and some reviewers find this a bit unrealistic. I do find that it makes the book rather short and a little lacking on the character development, especially for the seconday characters. It seems theee are other books in the series, and I'm wondering if this story could have been combined with another one in the series.

This might imply that it was a bad story - it wasnt, just a little short on character development - e.g. the owner of the Willoughby Manor and her nephew are given short shrift and are made out to be rather unpleasant. There's an indication that she is lonely and bitter towards her nephew, but there's no expansion on this and no indication that this will be covered in another book.

In short: a short book that can be read one afternoon, perhaps after a heavy lunch, and which will not offensive or too taxing.

Kate Hewitt has written a charming and heartwarming story in A Cotswold Christmas. Anna has escaped a New York family Christmas in favour of a quiet one by herself in a sleepy little Cotswold village, but arriving at her B&B after a long and tiring journey to find her room flooded is not quite what she had in mind. Colin is roped in to help find her somewhere to sleep and thanks to a few more glitches in Anna's plans the two of them find themselves enjoying a lot more of each other's company than they'd expected. These two are gentle souls and the possibility of a long distance relationship doesn't come easily to either of them, and Anna has a lot of personal issues to deal with. Watching them growing together and learning to love was enjoyable. This is a really lovely Christmas story.

This novella is a perfect sweet and charming Christmas read. It has everything that I like when looking for a holiday read; a beautiful festive cover, a quaint setting, very likable characters, and a romance that seems realistic and not over the top. Anna heads to the Cotswolds for Christmas to escape her life in NYC. Local carpenter and handyman comes to her rescue. The place she intends to stay is flooded so the owner finds her a room in Willoughby Close. This is the first of 4 books in the Willoughby Close Series and I look forward to reading the next installment.

I'm a self confessed Christmas romance novel addict, and this didn't let me down I'm pleased to say.

Anna's escape to the English countryside failed to go as planned, so in stepped Colin, the hoteliers cousin and the electricity between them was there from the start.

Beautiful storyline set in an idyllic setting ...bliss! My only negative is that the storyline could have done with being longer.

I received a free copy from the publisher through netgalley and voluntarily reviewed it

A Cotswold Christmas was a short and cute read. Sadly it fell a bit flat for me, I did enjoy reading it, but there was nothing that really stood out. I only had a few issues, but I just didn't quite care about anything. This book is about Anna who is going to visit the UK for a Christmas vacation, the Bed & Breakfast where she was supposed to be staying got flooded and so she ends up camping in a small cottage that isn't quite finished yet and meeting Collin who helps her.

From the cover I would've expected a lot of focus on snow and Christmas charm. There was very little Christmas charm, yes it takes place during Christmas and there are some mentions about Christmas activities, but it didn't quite come alive. Which was too bad as that was what I was hoping for when I picked this one up. I do think that makes it easier to read this one out of season as the Christmas part is only a small part. And it snows only once. So no snow covered walks like the cover suggest, which also was a bit disappointing. I had hoped the setting would come a bit more alive and while it was said how cute and small and pretty everything was, it didn't quite come alive in my mind and I had trouble imagining things vividly.

Anna and Collin were nice enough characters I guess, I just didn't quite care about them. I do like how the author tried to make their connection feel real and even in the short time they know each other they did open up to each other and the story touched upon some deeper issues as well. Collin is someone who likes fixing things, he's a bit of a perfectionist and has lots of unfinished projects lying around. Anna has had some bad news recently and is trying to deal with it. I didn't quite warm up to either of them, although I did like Collin more than Anna. Collin seemed real and down to earth, while Anna spend far too much time making assumptions that had no basis in reality. There are some scenes where she convinces herself so much that something is true and she acts like they are, but there never was any reason for her to believe that, she just assumed it was true.

There is a bit of drama and conflict, but mostly it was a cute romance. Things do progress quickly and the ending felt a bit rushed, but besides that the pace was well done. I didn't quite care for the conflict and in the end they still don't quite solve it. I also didn't quite care for Anna her attitude, she did nothing at a certain point, but did expect things from Collin. Luckily she did realize this eventually, although she still did nothing about it. I wish she would speak her mind more often or ask questions, instead of making assumptions and not checking if they were correct or not.

To summarize: this was a cute and short read, sadly it didn't quite hit the mark for me. The setting didn't quite come alive and sadly no snow covered walks like the cover suggests. The Christmas elements are quite light. I didn't quite warm up to the characters, although I did like Collin a bit more than Anna. Some of Anna her behavior and how she constantly made assumptions bothered me a bit. But both characters did seem realistic, I just didn't quite like reading about their type of realistic behavior. The romance was cute, it happened a bit quickly and things at the end felt a bit rushed, but besides the pace was well done. I liked how the author tried to add a bit of depth to their relationship and made it feel real. There is a bit of drama and conflict that I didn't quite care for and one of the conflict points doesn't really get solved. All in all it was a fun and cute romance set around Christmas time.

Review: A Cotswold Christmas by Kate Hewitt

I loved this book. The setup for the story is a bit absurd - in real life you should probably never do what Anna did. The bed and breakfast she booked for Christmas was flooded, so she goes off with Colin, a relative of the owner - thinking he's got a vacation cottage where she can stay. Turns out it's not a vacation rental, but rather an empty, unfurnished house. Colin feels bad about the situation, realizing Anna is alone for the holidays and her plans have been ruined, he does his best to try to make her comfortable in the empty house. The two quickly hit it off, feeling comfortable in each other's company, despite barely knowing each other.

This is a sweet story, very romantic and sexy without being explicit - which seems to work well in this story. This is the perfect, feel good holiday romance. An American attempting to run away from her heartbreak and be alone for the holidays meets the perfect man - who isn't at all what she ever would have considered to be perfect.

I liked this story a lot and would readily recommend it to anyone wanting something sweet and romantic, and quick, as it isn't a very long story. Perfect for an afternoon or evening read when the real life holidays get to be too much.

I believe this is the first in a series of books set in the same village. I'm looking forward to reading more. This is a very nice beginning and introduction to this area and characters.

I haven't read many books by Kate Hewitt but those that I've read I really loved, so I was really excited when I spied "The Cotswolds Christmas" on NetGalley. The festive cover, the lovely title just scream Christmas, don't you think? It is also a prequel to Kate Hewitt's new series, Willoughby Close. The setting was gorgeous, and the idea of renovating the cottages was also brilliant, and I personally can't wait to see them when they're finished. I'd only feel sorry that it snowed only once in the story.

The writing style was brilliant, just the way I like the stories to be told. It was warm and inviting and - simply - I liked it. In comparison to the slow pace of the whole story, the end felt much too rushed and it wrapped up so quickly. Anna and Colin are this kind of characters that you don't feel any connection to, so as a result you also don't care much about them, and it's a pity, because there was a lot of potential and their stories were interesting. I don't know, Anna seemed so impassive, expecting Colin to take matters in his hands and fight for her. It's OK, of course, but there are always two sides, two people, right? She just made assumptions and jumped to conclusions. I think that with more depth and development to the characters I'd enjoy them much more, I just had a feeling I don't know them well enough to like them more. But I still enjoyed them, and I also liked being introduced to all the other characters that I hope we'll see in the future parts of the series.

So actually yes, in theory everything was OK with this book but it just didn't quite hit the mark for me. There was in fact not much happening and the whole romance/falling in love/feeling the attraction bit felt flat for me - don't get me wrong, it was cute and lovely and quick (but as much as it was cute, it was also incredibly quick - I mean, after only three days of being together Anna and Colin started to plan their life together and wondering who should give up on their previous life. Yes, sure, lovely and sweet and romantic but somehow rushed) but I didn't feel the sparkles. and somehow I also couldn't warm to the characters, I am not sure why, I just had a feeling they both really don't know what they want. There is also not as much of festive feeling, as I have expected, judging on the lovely cover. However, brownie points to the author for adding the more poignant moments and giving the story more depth and touching upon some sensitive issues. It made the story much more realistic in my opinion, as it was not only bed of roses but some real troubles and problems as well. So altogether, "A Cotswold Christmas" is a lovely, emotional romance, but it was lacking in the festive feel for me, as I expected tons of snow and Christmas trees. But it was romantic and cute and yes, I liked it, and I will be for sure reading the other parts in the series.

A very enjoyable romp through the cotswalds. Light reading and just what was required to while away an evening in front of the fire.

A sweet story of Anna and Colin's romance. Anna is an American who has come to England to escape the overwhelming reminders of her broken engagement and her lack of fertility. The last things she wants is to be around the joys of children and festivities. With one thing after another, she ends up meeting and being rescued by Colin, and the sparks go from there. I liked this story, and read this one second (although I believe it is first in the series). Love the characters and the story line. Highly recommend this book and author.

This book was great I enjoyed reading it.
We are introduced to Anna who wants to spend Christmas in the Cotswold instead of back home in America with her family. Things don't go quite to plan and she ends up not on her own but with Colin who is her knight in shining armour.
A great Christmassy book and I can't wait for the sequel.

Light hearted Christmas read. Good story line but with little to think about.

This is a sweet little story that is actually an introduction to a series set in the small village of Wychwood-on-Lea in the Cotswold. I was a little tricked because the others in the series are all variations on Willoughby Close so I didn't realize this was the first in the series until I went looking.

Our heroine is an American, Anna Vere, escaping to a B&B in far off England to escape Christmas after a year where all her dreams were dashed. Only the B& B has been flooded and there is no room at the inn. So to speak.

Colin Heath comes to the rescue with somewhere to stay, an empty cottage in a building project he's working on. Colin is around the same age as Anna, in the mid-thirties and there is an instant connection between the two of them.

Thrown together, Anna meets Colin's family and when she has to move out of the cottage, she gets to experience life close up and personal with Colin.

A very sweet story with two likeable people and broader cast of characters in the village.

Sadly, this one was a DNF for me. I just couldn't seem to connect with the characters. I made it halfway before calling it quits.
