Description
Attorney Quinn Jones is in over her head. Her husband, Jordan Chang, Annapolis grad and superstar businessman, has been found dead outside their Greenwich Village brownstone. He’s wearing clothes that aren’t his, and was last seen at a place he never went while consorting with people he shouldn’t—and he’s vastly richer than he ought to be, Quinn discovers. Since NYPD has labeled Jordan’s death a suicide, Quinn is on her own to uncover the truth. Courtrooms, Quinn knows. Chanel No. 5, horses, martial arts, and frizzy hair, she knows. Murder, she doesn’t know but she’s learning fast in order to stay alive. With a few clues to work with, including a photo of Jordan with a stunning unknown Asian woman and a copy of a 1986 check payable to Jordan for twelve million dollars, Quinn stalks the back streets of Chinatown, haunted by the need to know what happened that day and why.

Quinn Jones had it all: a successful law career, a loyal dog, a perfect apartment, and a doting husband. But, as with most things wonderful, things are not always as they seem. When Detective Backus interrupts her otherwise typical work day at the office, Quinn is forced to realize that her perfect life might have been the ultimate ruse. The official report is suicide, but Quinn knows better. The further she digs, the stranger the circumstances that evolve. When she discovers that Jordan left behind a young daughter, the equation becomes survival times two. With the help of a newly acquired team of unlikely friends, Quinn Jones fights against all odds to bring her husband's death to a satisfactory resolution.
The Rage of Plum Blossoms by Christine M. Whitehead is a fun, mainstream mystery that includes entertaining dialogue and vivid scene descriptions. The characters are realistic with their diverse attitudes and unique personal qualities. There is just enough uncertainty intertwined into the main players of the story to encourage the reader's desire to read to the conclusion. This is a very satisfying book. The Rage of Plum Blossoms is recommended.
