A Note From the Publisher

Vella Munn writes contemporary and historical romances to satisfy the insistent voices in her head. She’s convinced she has the best career in the world. Also thanks to those voices, she no longer has any other marketable skills.

She’s had more than 50 books published and is beyond exited to have joined the Tule Publishing family with a contemporary romance series set at Lake Serene, Montana. The series draws on her love of the wilderness as backdrop for new beginnings and love.

Vella lives in rural Oregon, is married, has two sons, and four grandchildren. She’s owned by two bossy dogs and is working on her master’s degree as a certified hermit.

Taming His Montana Heart is a thoughtful, slowly developing romance… or maybe the word I’m looking for is cautious. Through the course of their story Shaw and Haley will go through the boss and the employee relationship, them move on to a light friendship with an awareness of each other. Eventually their attraction for each other will become too strong to overlook any longer. And then they have to make a choice – to go any further will involve being painfully open to the other about their pasts… and that’s not going to be easy.

Both Haley and Shaw carry a heavy emotional burden from an event in the past. We get hints of what has happened to them, but that is more of the reader filling in the left unsaid things between them. Eventually we will get their entire story and it is as painful, if not more so than anything we could have imagined. They are both living in constant emotional pain that rarely ceases for long. Healing is what they both need the most but until they can share their burdens that’s not likely to happen. This story is their shared journey of getting to the place where they can trust enough, forgive themselves enough to let someone special in to their reality. Their sadness is countered with lighthearted moments, their tentative steps toward each other are almost a mirror. They want what the attraction is drawing them to, but they are afraid that sharing what made them as they are today will be too much and they’ll lose this chance of being together.

Taming His Montana Heart is the story of two broken souls who discover love can heal most anything, if you give it a chance. I enjoyed my time with Shaw and Haley. This is not a light romance, it does go deeper at a slower pace that makes perfect sense for people who carry the burdens that they do. The wolf sighting is a special, unique touch. He almost becomes their spirit wolf here in the magical Lake Serene area. And I’ll admit to watching out for signs of him throughout the story.

*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this novel. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this story.*

He's Shaw Chamberlain, an ex-cop who resigned after a traumatic event. He's the Lake Serene Resort manager, striving to develop it and turn it into a lucrative business on behalf of his Uncle She's Haley Walters, she's also got tragic trauma in her past but is loving her job running the snowmobile hire for the resort. Both are endeavouring to find the tranquility in their lives that Lake Serene promises and come to terms with their past. Both are wary, reluctant to give their mutual attraction a chance but in the winter wilderness, love and wolves may help both of them heal and find love.

This is a delightful wintry romance. It explores the winter wonderland of the area, has a great range of characters and is a brilliant romantic read to escape into, whatever the weather! This is the first book that I have read in this series or by this author and I'll certainly be looking out for more in future!

I was gifted an ARC of this novel via NetGalley with no obligation or requirement to review it. This is my honest review after reading the ARC.

I haven’t read all the Montana Lakeside Series by Vella Munn but I have liked the ones I have read. Taming his Montana Heart, Book 5 reminded me of the first book. Not in the plot but in the two characters who have trouble moving forward from their past but desperately need to do so. It is a story of healing, forgiving one’s self and learning to enjoy life again which includes being in a loving relationship.

Shaw Chamberlin and Haley Walters are the kind of people that you would like and wish them every happiness. Their sober demeanor clue the people surrounding them that they have burdens from their past weighing on them even if others could not know their thoughts like the reader can. Ms. Munn did an excellent job developing these Shaw and Haley, even with not revealing everything about them. Also, the relationship between them was not rushed, no instant love here. It starts with a working relationship to friendship until their wariness is overcome so that trust and love is solidly built. It is a thoughtful story which I would recommend.

Taming His Montana Heart continues Vella Munn's Mintana Lakeside series with the story of Lake Serene resort manager Shaw and Snowmobile Operations Manager Haley. It is a stand-alone novel, though if you've read other stories in the series you'll already be familiar with both the setting and the secondary characters.
Both have faced traumatic events in their pasts and coming to Lake Serene has been a healing experience for each of them. Because of their pasts, Shaw and Haley are both self-contained and inclined to hold their cards close to their chests, yet each of them is lonely and when they are together for whatever reason there is a spark.
This is very much a story of healing, a gentle story that unfolds against the backdrop of an icy Montana winter. Set at Christmastime, it also contains a message of hope, and a strong sense of family. I think this is one of my favourite Vella Munn stories. I hope you'll enjoy it too.

We are returned to Lake Serene, Montana in this 5th book for the story of Shaw and Haley, his employee open up about their secrets to find common ground for the future. Loved the description of the surrounding wilderness and the wolf pair. This is a series to go on the keeper shelf.

Ebook from Netgalley and publishers with thanks. Opinions are entirely my own.

Haley Walters immediately thought her new boss, Shaw Chamberlin, the manager at the Lake Serene resort was one sexy man. Haley knew she needed to keep to her work managing the snow mobile rentals knowing she needed to prove she deserved the job opportunity.

When Shaw calls for a meeting to be updated on Haley’s department and any changes that need to be made the pair find themselves both drawn to one another but with each having a rough past the question is will they allow themselves to find love?

Taming His Montana Heart is the fifth book in the Montana Lakeside series but will read perfectly fine as a standalone novel as with many of these Montana romances each feature different couples with only brief mentions of previous characters or situations.

Haley and Shaw each had a traumatic event in their past so they easily became a couple that you can’t help but root for to find their happiness. My only complaint was waiting so long to hear the full stories these two had to share with their tragic pasts but it’s also nice to have a slow build between the pair as they got to know one another.

Overall, lovely couple in a lovely setting, would definitely recommend this edition of the Montana Lakeside series.

I received a copy from the publisher via NetGalley.

I read this one a month or so ago and forgot to review it at the time.

I enjoyed it but I don't really remember it. In short, I'm sure it was a pretty typical romance set in Montana in the winter.

It's part of a series and I haven't read any of the others.

I'd like to thank the publisher for making a review copy available via NetGalley. Grade: B.

This was the last book I read in 2016. Shaw is renovating his Uncle's resort. Shaw hired a woman to run the snowmobiles.Haley is starting over in her life and has walls up around her, just like Shaw. But after spending time together they realize they have a lot in common and they confide in each other. This was a cute christmas romance. I received this from NetGalley.
