I've never actually read the original story but still found myself enjoying it! I really loved the illustrations and the story! A really enjoyable read!

It was entertaining and quite a good time. It has encouraged me to try more manga classics. It was even more enjoyable than the novel. I highly recommend it for anyone interested in the classics but intimidated. Great way to experience them.

really think that these Manga's of classic stories are a really good way to bring these stories to life for a newer audience. The art and new spin on these short stories really put them in a new perspective as you can see what is going on in the story.

I absolutely enjoyed with title! I loved the artwork and the story. I didn't know much about this going in, but now I want to know more and maybe actually read the classic

Some sequences are written in proper detail but some are rushed through in just a few pages.
The book is written like an actual manga, beginning from what is usually the last page for us and working its way backwards. I loved how committed it was to its purpose. The illustrations too are as per the format and absolutely striking.

Edmond has everything going for him. An upcoming promotion on the ship, the cutest fiancee, and a father who loves him. On the day he is to marry Mercedes he is arrested for treason and send to the Chatau D'if. For 14 years he plans his revenge. Be meets another prisoner and they start trying to find a way out. This manga classic wax about the same for me as the Othello one I read. I found myself really wishing it was done. That could be the story as well. I did not love who Edmond ends up with, it gave me the ick. If Manga us tour thing I feel like toy might enjoy this more than I did. Thank you NetGalley for the copy to read.

Such a vibrant and refreshing retelling of a beloved classic.

It is a large undertaking to reimagine a cult classic like The Count of Monte Cristo, and Manga Classics did not disappoint! This rendition through Chan's lens was a creative touchstone that provides an accessible twist and was beautifully executed. With over 400 pages of material, it is a thorough retelling.

While the cover is in color, the inside pages are black and white line drawings read in the traditional Manga format.

Thank you Udon Entertainment and NetGalley for the opportunity to review this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This was a new way for me to get into reading classics. I was able to finally get into this story. I've tried to read The Court of Monte Cristo before but was not able to get into the story. This time I did and I may have to see what other classics are published this way.

Loved this book. I've been a fan of Count of Monte Cristo novel before, but seeing it in manga format was amazing. The flow of the story was amazing and felt nice as it takes a great effport to condense such a big story to a manga style. Love the illustrations. I hope to read more such manga on such classics.

Thank you NetGalley and Udon Entertainment for this arc!

4/5 stars

This is a much easier way to digest classic novels! This is a fantastic adaptation, even though the dialogue feels quite stiff. A great way to get younger readers more into the classic novels.

I absolutely live these Manga editions of William Shakespeare's Classics! They are so much easier to follow and understand. I totally recommend this book! I just reviewed Manga Classics: The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas. #NetGalley

Manga Classics has done it again! A massive undertaking for this epic book, but they stayed true to the plot and provided stunning landmarks and visual details.

Gorgeous artwork, I was drawn into the story like never before. I’m so curious to re-read the original now and see what new appreciation I have after getting to read it in this condensed, visual way. They managed to keep this complex plot easy to follow, and I would love to see these comics in school libraries, to get kids invested and eager to read intimidating classics like this!

The Count of Monte Cristo has always been a favorite of mine.

It's the ultimate revenge story, with deeply fleshed out characters, settings and storylines.

Of course, given that the original book is massive, a Manga adaptation would never be 'to the letter', but it's a very good intro for someone feeling a bit 'scared' of diving into the original classic.

Illustrations are very well done and you do get the overall sense of the story.

I’ve always wanted to read this classic but was always turned off from it due to its large size. This was a wonderful illustrated adaption of the story and I enjoyed. Some parts dragged but other than that the story itself was good and the art style was pretty.

Another classic.
Again, they should definitely make the classics illustrated beautifully like this. It makes it so easy to read and to get into the story.

I have always loved this story. The Count of Monte Cristo will always be my favorite book and movie! But seeing it as a Manga was just so much fun! I don't regret reading this at all! I loved this art as well!

I haven't read the original, but I enjoyed this so much that it made me really want to! I think I have a copy on my shelves that I just dig out.

Even though I didn't have a clear view (due to the ARC version), the artwork appeared to be beautiful! This reminded me of the Great Illustrated Classics that I read and loved as a kid, but even better!

I appreciated the effort and care they put into this adaptation, and enjoyed reading about the process. I think this would be a great tool to use while reading the original.

I'd definitely recommend this story and I can't wait to read more Manga Classics!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the free digital ARC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions presented here are my own.

I honestly hated this. It needs to be edited. A graphic novel adaptation shouldn't just tell a story back exactly as it was written in the actual novel it borrows inspiration from, instead it should find the most important elements of the story and illustrate them in a way that doesn't make it draggy and awful.

Revenge. It’s a huge word. The whole plot was based on it. It started on strong and the manga was very easy to read. I loved the plot and the diverse characters. The twist and turns kept me on the track. I really enjoyed it. Also, I just loved the ending so much! 🥹❤️

Ps. Review will be posted on goodreads, storygraph and on my Bookstagram @daisypea.reads.
