I absolutely loved this book. It’s set on Nantucket, a place I love, and it’s got mother/son issues to spare, especially when you add in the son’s girlfriend. I’ve been in similar situations, and it’s hard to see your child going against the way you (hopefully) raised him. The first time he listened to his girlfriend’s advice over mine was a surprise and took some getting used to!

Fortunately my daughter in law and I get along famously, I cannot imagine being at odds with her like the characters in the book sometimes are. This is a perfect beach read, 5 stars.

My thoughts: I just adore Nancy Thayer’s writing! The elements in this story were beautifully descriptive and created a strong sense of place. The summertime island vibe was the perfect escape! I really loved the characters and coming alongside their various situations. This is one of those stories in which the characters really come to feel like friends and family themself by the end. This was such a heartwarming read and I enjoyed how it explores many facets of life such as family, motherhood, marriage, love, and new beginnings. What a wonderfully refreshing and lovely read!!

This is a good book. The two main characters are Kailee and Ross. They meet senior year in college. They fell in love. They graduated from college and come home to work at Kailee’s family business. It is a story about families and how they love each other. There are many different aspects of a family. It all about love of a family.

They are so bingeable and I usually read them in one or two sittings. She gives incredible detail that helps you visualize the moment so you’re reading about. This book wasn’t any different, It lived up to all her other books if not exceeded them. I’ll definitely be recommending this to everyone I know.

Heather has decided her marriage is over and since her only son is graduating from college she's ready to make the break. A friend finds a summer rental on Nantucket for her and she's going to move as soon as son Ross graduates and returns home to help run the family hardware store. But things don't go as planned. Ross accepts a job from his fiance's father and the whole family is split. Things work out in the end but the story gets there eventually. A nice beach read.

Great beach read for the summer! Heather decides to leave her husband and rents a cottage in Nantucket. Unbeknownst to her, her son and his girlfriend decide to also stay on the island since her parents run a construction business on the island. Good story about family dynamics, in laws, and learning to roll with whatever comes your way. I felt as though I was in Nantucket with the great descriptions of the island. From the very first line I was sucked in and wanted to read the story of these two families and how their lives became intertwined.

Heather Willette’s life in Concord, Massachusetts with her husband has been going downhill for a while, so she asks for a divorce. She decides to escape to Nantucket for the summer, renting a small cottage for the next three months. However, it ends up that her son, Ross, will also be spending his summer on Nantucket working for his girlfriend Kailee’s father. Heather did not get off to a great start with Kailee, so she hopes theirs summers on the same island do not clash too much, and they can find common ground.

A summer book set on Nantucket-what could be more idyllic? Unfortunately, the stilted dialogue and unlikeable characters {especially Kailee, who was insufferable} brought down my rating of the book. However, the setting is perfect, and the author captured every essence of summer and Nantucket life. Heather’s easy divorce and $30K vacation rental was a bit too implausible, even for the chick lit genre, but overall, an okay pick if you want a book set at the beach, just not one I would prioritize.

A good read, but not a great one. I always love Thayer’s descriptive writing style, how she brings Nantucket to life. However, I did not feel connected to the characters in the book or the storyline. Heather was likable enough but hard to imagine someone going thru a divorce and seeming happy about it and lucky enough to fall into a summer rental, new job, new love life. Didn’t seem real to me. As for Kailee, she was spoiled, jealous, and very immature. Hopefully, I’ll enjoy the next Thayer novel more than this one.

I want to start this by saying I read a lot so when I first started this book, I felt like I was already familiar with and read this story. It wasn't until I was about halfway in that I realized I had not read this book yet. I'm guessing she wrote something very similar and my connections just crossed.

This book is ideally released for the summer as it follows characters on Nantucket. Heather realizes her marriage is over and heads to Nantucket to determine what is next for herself. It is then that she learns that her son will also be moving to Nantucket with his girlfriend. Hence drama ensues. The book kept me wanting to read even though bits seemed repetitive.

A great book by a great author.

Heather has come to a crossroads about her marriage and life. She has been married a long time to her husband, Wall, and she helped him set up and run his hardware business for years, all while raising their son, Ross. Heather has come to the realization that she wants a divorce, that she and Wall are just existing in their married life. She does not dislike or hate him. She just knows that she needs to make a life of her own. Christine, her friend, tells her about a cottage on Nantucket available for the Summer. Dare she go to Nantucket? She does.

It was always planned that, someday, Ross would take over the family business. However, Ross has fallen in love with Kailee, a Nantucket girl from college and has decided to move to Nantucket to work for her father’s construction business. How were Heather and Kailee ever going to form any kind of relationship if they weren’t even sure they liked one another?

Nancy Thayer has written a lovely, thoughtful story about a woman determining her own journey, opening her heart to new experiences and relationships. I have read All the Days of Summer twice now. Loved it the first time, and even more the second time.

Heather is bored with her husband and her marriage and wants out. Her husband runs a business and expects their son to carry on the business after his retirement. Their son is not interested. Heather decides she will rent a cottage in Nantucket for the summer to re-think her life and plan for the future. She finds a bare bones cottage that is reasonable. Surprisingly, her son decides he wants to also spend the summer in Nantucket working for his girlfriend's family construction company. Heather is not very fond of her son's girlfriend.
Nancy Thayer has written a novel around the lovely island of Nantucket and a family and turmoil. Will Heather be able to re-create a life for herself on Nantucket? This is a delightful read that you won't want to leave when it ends.

Is summer complete without a Nancy Thayer Nantucket novel? True to her style, All the Days of Summer takes place on Nantucket and follows two families undergoing big changes. The families are connected by Ross and Kailee, who are fresh out of college and engaged. The story follows each family (mostly the matriarchs- especially Heather, Ross' mother who initially clashes with Kailee). This a a nice summer family drama mixed with some budding romance (for Heather). The characters are mostly likeable- except Kailee is a spoiled brat for the first half. However, I enjoyed watching the character development. Overall, this is a great book to grab while headed to the beach or on summer vacation.

I am sorry for the inconvenience but I don’t have the time to read this anymore and have lost interest in the concept. I believe that it would benefit your book more if I did not skim your book and write a rushed review. Again, I am sorry for the inconvenience.

This was a great beach read. It is atmospheric and filled with elements of family, loss, self discovery and reconciliation. It was beautifully written.

This is the first book that I have read by this author and I have mixed feelings on it.

I enjoyed the premise of the story and it had a few unexpected surprises, but had a predictable ending.

Heather Willette decides to divorce her husband after 20+ years and decides to rent a cottage for the summer in Nantucket. Coincidentally, her son (Ross) is moving there as well to work for his girlfriend’s family instead of his own father. Heather’s first impression with Ross’s girlfriend, Kailee doesn’t go well and it doesn’t get better on Nantucket either.

The things that bother me about this book are the unrealistic things like having $30K lying around to rent a dumpy cottage for 3 months or how everything seems to just fall into Heather’s lap so easily.

The author can be overly detailed at times for unnecessary details like outfits or hairdos like is trying to hit a word limit.

With all that said, it kept my attention until the end and was pleasantly surprised by the strength of the women in this book.

Kailee and Heather are both looking to protect Ross and their relationship is off to a rocky and jealous start. Filled with typical summer drama and some generational family wealth, this story was entertaining on a surface level. Nancy Thayer continues to be a queen of summer/Nantucket fiction however this was not one of my favorite novels.

Having read all of Nancy Thayer’s books I was looking forward to reading her newest novel. This book did not disappoint. I love how the author describes the family dynamics allowing the reader to see some of themselves in the lives of thee characters. The reader feels like they are visiting an island through the author’s descriptions of restaurants and beaches. A great beach read.
