Compelling and very interesting slow burn thriller. It was twisty and suspenseful, and a very good read. I loved the author's other works (co-written) and I knew this one would be just as amazing.

I had never read a solo Sarah Pekkanen before but I absolutely love her duo work! I loved this one just as much and she was very strong all on her own! This was such a thrilling ride and I didn't want it to end! I loved the dynamic between the mother and daughter and it kept me on the edge of my seat!

I listened to the audiobook version of this book, Gone Tonight. The mother and daughter in the book have a bond like no other. It is them against the world.

This is a twisty thriller, but some of the twists were predictable, if you read a lot of thrillers. I wouldn't say I was shocked or surprised by any of them. However, It kept me entertained and it was okay. I did not have to DNF it or anything.

This book exists for me. It was not an over the top amazing book, but it was not one I DNFed. There were some far fetched thoughts and comments made by the characters. There was a small twist that I could see coming, but it was there.

There were 2 POVs in this book, and if I had read it, I probably would not have had a problem with it, but since there was only one narrator with only a slight tone change, it made it hard to follow at times. The narration seemed monotone to me as well, but the book in general was monotone, with little emotion portrayed. Over all it was a good listen.

Oh my gosh I just finished reading this and wow ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Gone Tonight is an amazing story told in the point of views Catherine and her mother Ruth in the present alongside journal entries to glimpse her past. Throughout their lives it’s always just been the two of them. Now Catherine is finishing up Nursing School and looking forward to moving away to her new job and new career at Johns Hopkins, until Ruth starts exhibiting symptoms of early Alzheimer’s, which means Catherine’s plans will have to wait and she just could not possibly leave her mom alone. But things just doesn’t quite fit into place and Catherine starts doing her own research to try to find out the truth, and that is when she discovers that her mother has not been honest with her.

As a nurse, I love reading about characters in the medical field. I was impressed with the way Sarah Pekkanen wrote about families dealing with illness, and also the role of caregivers and nurses in memory centers. I felt the research and the writing of the nursing character was spot on and really enjoyed reading those parts so much.

I could not put this book down as the story really propels forward especially with each of the three acts. Act one was literally setting up the scene, Act two and three propulsively pushed me at the edge of my seat and could not stop reading this book. I kept on guessing what could be happening and with a cinematic third act fit for a thriller blockbuster movie, I was blown away.

This book had everything I love in a domestic thriller read - addicting, immersive, fast paced, but also deals with a lot of important themes about families and the ties that bind.

I highly recommend Gone Tonight in audiobook! The narrator, Kate Mara’s voice acting really captured the characters and the tension of this amazing thriller which added to my reading pleasure!

A wonderful psychological suspense about the relationship between Catherine Sterling and her mother Ruth. Although the mother and daughter believe they know each other completely, as the story progresses you learn dangerous secrets were kept, and that both character is more multifaceted than the other imagined.

Excellent mystery, with the superb storyline and plot development we have come to expect from Sarah Pekkanen.

I picked this book because I read and loved The Golden Couple and while I didn’t love this one quite as much, I will be pick up both authors other books because I’m definitely a fan :)

I have been a fan of Sarah Pekkanen since I read An Anonymous Girl by her and Greer Hendricks. This is the first book that I read by Sarah alone and I really enjoyed it. This is kind of a slow burn and it takes a it to really get into the mystery full on but when you do it is amazing.

Kate Mara was a really good narrator. I find that not everyone is great at audio narration and even though you would assume that all actors would be great but some aren't. I really enjoyed Kate though.

I am a fan of Sarah Pekkanen - either solo or with her writing partner. Gone Tonight was one of the best thrillers I read this year, and navigating the relationship of Ruth and Catherine is one wild ride.

Pekkanen's masterful storytelling keeps you guessing until the very end, leaving you questioning the nature of love, family, and the lengths we go to protect those we hold most dear.

I’ve been a big fan of Sarah Pekkanen’s books that she has co-authored with Greer Hendricks and when I saw that she had a solo novel coming out, I immediately put it on my TBR.

Gone Tonight is a fun, twisty, and intense thriller that unravels the story of a mother’s past and the impact that has had on her daughter’s future. Pekkanen allows the reader to get to know both mother and daughter by having alternating narratives between the two characters. We get an opportunity to learn about each of their personalities and motivations, which helps to build a strong bond with them. I was most drawn to Ruth’s sections, as I was very curious to know the secrets she was hiding.

Pekkanen keeps the pacing at a quick tempo, filling the story with twists and turns to keep the reader on their feet. There were definitely times when I would catch myself believing that I knew all the right answers for this story to only then have Pekkanen tell me I was wrong. I did get a few things right, which I always love!

🎧: If you’re debating picking this one up as a physical copy or on audio, I would highly recommend the audio. Kate Mara is the narrator! She does an unbelievably good job of embodying both Ruth and Catherine and truly brings the story to life.

I really enjoyed this one. I was invested from beginning to end with this story line. I am a sucker for a thriller with a dual POV and this one was no exception. I loved hearing from both Ruth and Catherine. The audiobook was also fantastic. Definitely would recommend.

Wow. That is just one word to describe this book. I am still stunned. This was my first Sarah Pekkanen book, but it most certainly will not be my last. This book was incredible. I loved how solid the structuring on this book was. The twisting plot and the tension, oh my! I also really enjoyed the multiple POVs. I was captivated the entire time and was on the edge of my seat. This was such a great read!

I devoured this audiobook. I thoroughly enjoyed the twists and turns. I felt like the story moved at a great pace and some twists took me completely off guard.

This was a unique thriller in that there is a very big focus on the mother daughter relationship in this one. The beginning was a tad slow but the twists kept coming and were some ever juicy! Once I got into the story, I couldn't put it down anymore - it just sucked me in and would not let go! I can't say much without giving away the plot but I enjoyed this one!

I did go between the ebook and audiobook for this one and eventually just finished with the audiobook since it allowed me to multitask while reading haha! The narrator did a great job, though if I wasn't careful sometimes I would miss a POV switch.

Gone Tonight is a slow burn and I loved it. This book has alternating chapters between Catherine and her mother Ruth. This mother/daughter relationship is anything but normal. I LIVE for drama (that doesn't involve me) and this book had a ton of it. I love Kate Mara as an actress and i thought she was a wonderful narrator.

Gone Tonight was a great story about a mother-daughter relationship, with a dark and twisty undertone. I really enjoyed the characters, finding out their motives, and following the story along. Overall I really enjoyed this book and would reccomend it to anyone who likes her other work!
