I enjoyed this Advanced Review Copy of Recipe Road Trip, Cooking Your Way Across the USA by Nanette Lavin, that I purchased the book to use with my sons (ages 10 and 13). It's a great cookbook to use for family meals and teaching cooking skills. I homeschool one of my children, so making the connections between the states, cultures and foods of the USA is really valuable. This book is written with heart and charm, and I love it.

This book was fun and full of many recipes reflecting the States’ unique culture relating to favorite dishes from its many regions! There are so many different dishes to pick from, and in addition to the five sections of the mainland, it includes recipes from American Samoan, Virgin Islands and Hawaii, Alaska and Puerto Rico! Eat your way across the USA! Only criticism I have is that I would have preferred colored photographs!

I have been needing all the help I can get now that I am a mom of a toddler. This is a fun way to explore foods around the United States.

This was a fun interesting book for young readers. It provides history, geography, state stories and lots of delicious recipes! Would be a great learning experience for families to cook together while learning and laughing! And then, enjoying the great food!

This book was so much fun. Who hasn't dreamt of a road trip across America, sampling each state's culinary delights? Since that's not always practical or possible, this book brings tge recipes to you.

I love cooking, and reading recipes. As a result, seeing this cookbook grace NetGalley immediately struck my attention.

The formatting and delegation of recipes by state is great. Instead of going in alphabetical order, as I expected, the book divides the country into regions to explain why some dishes thrive in certain states.

As a Floridian, my first thought when reading about the Sunburst drink having orange juice from concentrate was, "Noo! Use fresh-squeezed or not concentrate!" My second thought was reminding me that not everyone has access to orange juice at regular times. Being in Florida can spoil a person.

Parents should share this book with their children, and think about the wonderful things they can make. These recipes have tiers, so you don't have to shoot yourself in the foot with a complicated pie.

Very cool cookbook with fun facts, jokes and recipes. I think my middle grade students would love to look at the cookbook and create some of the recipes.

I received a free copy of this book from the Author, Publisher, NetGalley for my honest review. This was a great book to get us excited for our next road trip. Different recipes from across the US and fun facts to read about each destination. This is a must read for those who love road trips and like to have some fun with it

I love this cookbook! The recipes are not complicated and this is such a fun way to try out regional dishes that I may not have tried otherwise. A lot of the recipes are easy enough for my daughter to do with minimal help, and the more complicated ones she can accomplish easily with my help. The jokes and puns are a cute addition to the book.

Did Baked Alaska really come from Alaska? Where did the twinkie originate? What do Lobster Rolls really taste like?

Do you have a child that asks these kinds of questions? Or maybe a child who loves to be in the kitchen? Recipe Road Trip combines kid-friendly recipes with regional trivia to get your kids excited about cooking and learning in the kitchen. This amazing cookbook is broken up into regions, including two to three recipes for each state within that region. Surprisingly, Recipe Road Trip also includes recipes from U.S. Commonwealths and Territories. All recipes are leveled from 1-3 to indicate it's difficulty and are written in an easily understandable manner. The illustrations are fun without being too cartoony and the geographic trivia is great to learn as well. One of my favorite additions was the sample menus in the back of the book that allows kids to create a regional meal. As a homeschool mom, I'd love to have this one on the shelf for studying geography. The best age for Recipe Road Trip would be upper elementary to young teen. While the items are kid-friendly, they do include many main dishes that would appeal to an older child. And as with any cookbook, I would avoid the kindle version and prefer a physical copy.

3.5 ⭐

I had thought that each recipe would have a fun fact as to why that particular recipe was chosen for that state, or particular ingredient. Unfortunately, this is only so for a selection of recipes and a lot of facts aren't related to the recipe or food at all.

Still a fun book but I'd love to know why each food was chosen for that state!

What an engaging and informative concept for a kid’s’ cookbook! This was colorful and helpful, a fun experience for both younger cooks and parents. Two or three fairly representative recipes from each state (and U.S.territories) were presented, each with clear directions, illustrations, and a difficulty rating for gauging the amount of experience and/or adult supervision needed. Famous dishes such as Boston Cream Pie, Philadelphia Cheesesteak Sandwich, and Southern Fried Chicken are included. ALSO fun facts about history or agriculture of each state are included on the recipe page. I thoroughly enjoyed this recipe book and think it would make a useful and appreciated gift.

Thank you to NetGalley and the author for allowing me the privilege to review this cookbook I was really excited because it's suppose to be a cookbook for kids, but honestly it's really not. The only recipes in here that kids might actually like are desserts and that's mainly if they like chocolate. My kids found this boring, a lot of jokes and product facts went over their heads and there's barely any photos and none that are real which would make someone actually know what some of the recipes would look like if they've never heard of it before. Alot of the recipes too are rather labour intensive when they could have simplified it way easier for certain things and should have been, and than the ones you expect to have actual cooking and be slightly labour intensive have premade store bought components which just doesn't make any sense. There weren't many descriptions either for what the food items you're suppose to be making is (which is hard if you've never heard of it before) especially the Mambo sauce recipe, I shouldn't have to google something to find out what it is and what you could use it on. Big main recipe but no idea what it was. The only good thing this book has going for it, is that actually covers the literal whole us which I really loved.

I read this book as a free ebook on Netgalley.

I really enjoyed this book. There were many recipes that I plan on making included in here. The facts about the different foods and origins were really interesting. Most of the jokes, I just rolled my eyes at but a kid would probably be entertained by them. The formatting for reading in my kindle app definitely threw things off a little bit but I was able to figure out what the next steps were. I totally plan on buying this book in physical form. Thanks Netgalley!

I received a complimentary copy from the publisher and all opinions expressed are entirely my own.

I absolutely enjoyed this recipe road trip and this was just brimming with recipes from all states. I enjoyed how the recipes were arranged but it would have been nice if there were pictures for all the recipes. I loved the book and think it would be fun to try out the recipes. Such a delightful book.

The e-book formatting made this difficult to read, but I managed well enough to know it's PERFECT. Having lived all over the country, I was interested in what recipes made the cut for each state. Lavin did an exceptional job. Each recipe is simple, well composed, and represents each geographical area. I'm headed straight to the bookstore now to buy copies for my nieces for Christmas.

This book offers kids and adults a chance to make some food together and build some memories. The recipes that make up this title are organized by regions of the country. For example, in the Northeast section, kids will find apple cider doughnuts from New Hampshire or Philly Cheesesteak from Pennsylvania. I saw a recipe for Johnny Cakes a food from my childhood in Rhode Island. Every section of the country has something good to offer in these pages

In addition to the recipes, the book also includes some menus. For example, the Southeast one suggests coleslaw, corn and Southern fried chicken. As an extra bonus, some interesting facts about the states are included.

Browse, cook, enjoy. Many thanks to NetGalley and Kitchen Ink Publishing for this title. All opinions are my own.
