Loved reading this book. Amazing story and bible verses lend to the charm of this book. I would highly recommend this book. You would not be disappointed.
This devotional is a beautiful collection of scriptures, prayers and stories that help us walk in forgiveness. We all have had to face a time when we needed to forgive someone who hurt us. It is not easy to let go of the pain, but until we do we are held captive. God wants us to walk in freedom and this devotional is an illustration of how we can do that.
We are given tools to help us on our journey to forgiveness with pages that encourage us, guide us and lead us in prayer as we go through the book. I loved how it is laid out in a way that is easy to understand and always guides us to His word. This would be a wonderful gift to give to someone. I would grab a copy for yourself and one to bless someone with.
I received a copy of this book from the author and publisher. The review is my own opinion.
This is a good devotional for those who only have a couple of minutes. They are quick and easy to read and follow. I personally would have liked them to be a little longer but still found them helpful.
A perfect devotional for a busy person or someone just starting out with devotions. There is a verse, comments and a prayer jar saying.
Another great devotional! I read the series by this name so I had to grab a copy. I love the stories she wrote for each day.
I received a copy of this book from Netgalley for my honest review.
I really enjoyed The Prayer Jar Devotional: Forgiveness by Wanda E. Brunstetter and Donna K. Maltese is a wonderful devotional geared toward, at times, a very difficult topic. I appreciated how the topic of forgiveness was covered in a Biblical manner. Using different passages and stories from the Bible, along with Biblical Wisdom, offers insight and life applications to help the reader with forgiveness. I used The Prayer Jar Devotional: Forgiveness as part of my devotional time and I highly recommend it. Thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for the opportunity to read this book. My review is also on Goodreads.
What a wonderful devotional! This is a devotional that everyone needs. We all struggle with forgiveness at some point in our lives and this book gives you the encouragement and bible verses to help you daily. I loved it and highly recommend it.
I received a complimentary copy from Barbour Publishing via NetGalley and was not required to write a review. All opinions expressed are my own.
I will preface this by saying, that I have not yet read the author’s fictional book series that goes along with this devotional book. It is on my list of books to read. However, I found that this devotional book can stand alone, so one does not need to enjoy the fiction books to gain great encouragement from this devotional book. Each devotional reading has scripture, an explanation or challenge to be found in the scripture for that day, and then a meditational thought at the end. So often devotional books for women seem to be encouraging, but overall very fluffy in content. I found this book to be NOT that way. So refreshing! This book captures the meaning of the scripture passages and meaningfully applies it to real life. Real Truth is imparted through this book in bite sized portions for each day. The reader can choose to begin a prayer jar or not. (I sort of wish we had a little more insight into how to flesh out the prayer jar even more, but I know that would have just taken page space and probably detracted from the purpose of the devotional.)But know this, by reading this book, you will be challenged and encouraged in your faith as you meet the Truth of God’s Word the Bible every day. I highly recommend this book, and I think I will be putting the paper form of this book on my shopping list so I can read it off screen and mark in it.
I received a complimentary copy from the publisher and all opinions expressed are entirely my own.
This is a devotional that can be used with no specific start or end date to work through forgiveness and what ails you. It encourages one to have a prayer jar of things that they are working through and I highly recommend it if you are struggling with forgiveness and need to let go of certain things. It's concise, well written and easy to read.
I find it helpful to start and end my day with a few moments of quiet reflection. I have found that using devotionals helps me to focus my thoughts. I really enjoyed The Prayer Jar Devotional: Hope by Wanda E Brunstetter and Donna K Maltese, so I knew that The Prayer Jar Devotional: Forgiveness would be another great resource for me to use.
• These devotionals are inspired by Brunstetter trilogy, The Prayer Jar, which is an Amish Romance where the story of the prayer jars began.
• This little 208-page devotional offers a collection of inspirational devotional readings centered around the theme of forgiveness.
• The daily devotions start with scripture, including an inspirational message/prompts and end with a short prayer.
• I love the idea of creating my own prayer jar full of my favorite prayers, quotes/bible verses or just jotting down my thoughts after reading a devotional. I created a jar after using the hope devotional and I often go back to that jar and just pull out a slip of paper and reflect on what is written. I use my prayer jar for a dose of encouragement, to track my progress, or to refocus on a specific subject
• Instructions are provided so that you can put your own prayer jar together!
• This would make a great Christmas present along with a mason jar for a loved one!
• I would recommend this devotional for anyone who wants to deepen their spiritual journey or reflect on their life each day and continue to grow as they go forward.
Spiritually Inspiring
The author begins this book by providing the following definition of "FORGIVENESS": Webster’s Dictionary defines the word forgive as “to grant pardon for or to.” God’s Word teaches us that forgiveness is the act of pardoning an off ender. Th e Greek word translated forgiveness means “to let go,” as when a person does not demand payment for a debt. Jesus used this comparison when He taught His followers to pray: “And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us” (Luke 11:4 kjv). In another passage of scripture, Jesus compared forgiveness to canceling a debt (Matthew 18:23- 35).
She explains what a prayer jar is and her method of using one.
These devotionals can be a great way to start your day or end your, accompanied with your daily prayers
I love this book because, not only does the author quote scripture, but also provides a prayer jar inspiration at the bottom of each page. I think this is a good idea to have a thought to reflect and meditate on. Highly recommend.
I want to thank Netgalley and the author's for gifting me the ebook. I enjoyed this book and perfect for all christian women. Forgiveness to me is a really hard thing to do and it is something we all have to pray about and do. I have not finished the book completely but so far I love the little devotions.
Love Wanda and her devotionals. These are short devotionals so easy to read on the run. I did have a little hard time reading them as it downloaded small and sideways but I got the jist of what she was trying to say. Always recommend her books.
While I did enjoy the book and the author itself, I think it could have been expanded upon. I love that it is short, sheet, and to the point which makes it easy for a busy mom of three, but I wish it focused more on the things I need to forgive around me. Things that gave me true hurts. I love the idea of the prayer jar, but I wish there was a focus on praying for specific situations. Possibly that of someone within the church that may have hurt you... someone that hurt you in school maybe you haven't gotten over... something a spouse or a child said... Anything like that. Jesus is the true path to forgiveness but praying for these specific people can make all the diffference in the world. The cover and use of scripture were perfect!
The Prayer Jar trilogy is a sweet series of fiction books written by Wanda Brunstetter with Donna K. Maltese. The Prayer Jar Devotional: FORGIVENESS inspires the reader to read and pray daily with forgiveness in mind. God sees you, hears you, protects you, loves and forgives you!
These brief daily devotionals start with scripture, continues with an inspirational message and ends with a short prayer that may touch your heart. For example, one prayer reads: "Forgive me Lord, for ever thinking I could hide my misdeeds from you."
I want to thank the author, Barbour Publishing and NetGalley for my advanced reader's copy of this book. This is my own unsolicited opinion about it. The book is written with the Christian woman in mind. Each devotion briefly delves into the importance of forgiveness in our walk with Christ. God gave Jesus to prove that He forgives us our sins. The book reminds that with God's help I am good and clean! God gives us second chances. We are forgiven when we ask. God forgives and forgets. When we ask, our sins are forgiven and forgotten, every last one. This book with its small devotions is a big reminder of what God does for me and you. I can easily read these reminders over and over again. I highly recommend it. One big reminder, God forgives us, and we need to remember to forgive ourselves.
I enjoyed how Wanda Brunstetter out this book together as a reminder that forgiveness is essential in your walk with God. The Prayer Jar series helps you go back years from now and see where you were at in your life and how your life has changed.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley and the publisher, but was not required to leave a review.
I really needed this book! It is amazingly written and very informative! It offers biblical verses alongside inspirational prompts. I love this book and the fact that it gives us bible verses without clobbering the reader over the head with the bible. I also love that it not only gives bible readings, but it also relates it. to the reader by giving directional prompts that can help and aide one on their prayer journey. It is a very inspiring book and I think anyone who reads fiction, fantasy, sci fi, horror, true crime or any material that is heavy should unwind and check out this book. I think it is particularly a good read for our times with so many people being on social media, following the trends and just being overwhelmed and stressed out. This book is a great way distress while learning and being inspired. I never knew about the prayer jaw, but I am very excited to get started. The only caveat I would give is that it could be a bit more gender inclusive. I would say is that it is aimed at the female reader as it consistently directs many prompts towards the woman reader such as "show me, lord, how to be a woman after you heart." However, this book is amazing, and I would 100% recommend it for anyone! I will definitely look for other work by this author and I will also be buying a physical copy of this book.
I would like to thank Netgalley and Barbour Publishing for the opportunity to read this arc for an honest review.
I love ALL of Wanda Brunstetter’s books and this one does not disappoint. If you read The Prayer Jar trilogy, you know that the main character wrote prayers and put them in a glass jar to giver get inspiration.
The book has daily prayers that focus on forgiveness. I highly recommend this book to everyone who wants to deepen their spiritual life. Many thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for a complimentary copy of the book. The opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.
Love this devotional book, it is well written and Wanda Brunstetter always does a great job with any book. would highly recommend.
