This book was a fun mystery ride through the tangles of family history and lore. Some of the characterization was under developed in terms of the story line itself being so beautiful. I did really enjoy this book and look forward to re-reading it and seeing what I may have missed the first go around.

June Farrow thinks she will break the curse of the Farrow women and their weird lives and timelines. She won't have children and pass this on. At least that is what the 2023 June says.
After walking through the door, 1951 June realizes she left her daughter and husband a year earlier.
Will she go back to the present or stay with her daughter?

This was hauntingly beautiful. It kept me on the edge of my seat with the atmospherically gorgeous writing and the mystery along the way. I'm also a sucker for time travel, so that was an automatic win for me.

Thank you so much Random House for this ARC.
This book was incredible. I struggle very much with books that jump timelines but Adrienne Young found a way to make it so easy to follow along and what an incredible story about a women, a fraying rope of time, and a door. I was on the edge of my seat while June and I pieced the puzzle together and I did not expect ANY of the conclusions that came about.
I totally cried at the ending, this book will stick with me for a long time I can tell. I will definitely look to read more from this author in future.

Adrienne Young does it again. Adrienne weaves beautiful stories and the book does not disappoint. The book is full of fantasy, mystery and emotion.

Magic, simply magic. The kind of book that makes you follow an author forever. I can’t wait to pick up her next one!

Oh my heart!! I loved this so much!! The Unmaking of June Farrow is officially my favorite book by Adrienne Young yet! Raw, emotional and absolutely breathtaking - I wish I could read it again for the first time!

gorgeous, twisty, atmospheric. a wonderful book with such interesting elements and ideas. i'm very impressed

I don’t give unconditional 5 stars very often but this one did it. I thought this book was perfect. It was simple and perfect. The combination of familial line curses, time travel, grief navigation and mystery really did it for me. Adrienne Young writes so beautifully you can feel the emotion in every word. I can’t wait for more from her.

“when margaret anne farrow died in her sleep on june 10, 2023, i became the last living farrow on earth.”
•
june farrow is a woman standing at the edge of her own reality, the weight of generations pressing into her bones. the novel unfurls like a dream, a slipstream of past and present colliding in ways both breathtaking and devastating.
•
“the easiest and most widely accepted explanation for my mother’s strange disappearance was madness—the same affliction to befall every woman in my family for as far back as anyone could remember. we were cursed—the farrow women.”
•
where do i even begin with this haunting, luminous masterpiece? the unmaking of june farrow is a story that reaches across time, threading its fingers through fate and unearthing the buried ghosts of love and loss. adrienne young has crafted something extraordinary— this is a book about unraveling and becoming, about stepping into the unknown and finding yourself on the other side. it is a book that reminds us that love—true, unwavering love—can transcend even time itself. and as i closed the final pages, heart full and shattered all at once, i knew: june farrow’s story would stay with me forever.

“it came for my grandmother, as it came for my mother, and now it had come for me. for years, the town of jasper had been watching me, waiting for the madness to show itself. they didn’t know it was already there, brimming beneath the surface.”

Absolutely loved this book! Adrienne Young never lets me down with her books. I'll gladly post a a positive review!
The Unmaking of June Farrow had all the same feels and vibes of Spells for Forgetting. The story of June was very well done in my opinion and I enjoyed every bit of her story. I really enjoyed the "multiverse" or door aspect. I feel like most questions were answered in a satisfactory fashion. This book gave me cozy almost "whodunit" vibes. I'd recommend if you are into books that you can't put down and a nostalgic magical feel.

Adrienne Young will never cease to impress me with her automospheric writing. I was immediately transported into this world. June Farrow was a strong and independent character who pushed for answers. Well some may need further explanation into the magic system in a story. I prefer to simply be placed into a story with magic established as if you are expected to be one of the characters yourself. I immediately recommended this story to my book club.

This was so good. The vibes were so good. I loved the characters and the atmosphere. So so pretty. Would recommend.

I loved this book so much! This story was captivating and so addicting. It was heartbreaking while also being heartwarming at the same time. I loved the characters and how much they had to go through in this book. They had so many hard decisions to make and it was just an amazing read. The writing was so beautiful and lyrical and I just could not put it down.

Adrienne Young has become an auto-read author for me in the last couple of years so I was VERY excited to read The Unmaking of June Farrow. It sounds like a book that is right up my alley with elements of magical realism, romance, and time travel. This was one of those books that I knew I was going to love almost immediately upon starting to read it. I devoured this book and loved every moment. Everything about the story and setting were so vivid in my mind as I read thanks to Young’s beautiful writing and incredible ability to place her readers in the midst of the story. The feeling of magic and nostalgia in this novel were absolutely wonderful. I will forever love this novel.

Adrienne Young is one of my favorite authors. I’ve been a fan since I read Sky in the Deep many years ago. She writes beautifully and always keeps me intrigued. As soon as i began reading this story about a woman named June trying to break a curse that has plagued all the women in her family for centuries, I know Young had done it again.
After the passing of her Grandmother, June starts finding clues about her family curse that she thinks might help her break it. Through this journey she learns loads of things she didn’t know before.
I really enjoyed June’s character and her journey. This story really keeps you on your toes with all of its wonderful aspects.
Thank you, NetGalley and Delacorte Press for an arc of this book in return for an honest review.

The Unmaking of June Farrow by Adrienne Young
3.5 🌟
This was a magical cute story. I enjoy this author even though not my typical theme. Truly unlike anything I have read and lots of twists and mystery.
June is the daughter of Susanna and a woman in caught in between times and a curse or just some bad luck.
A door magically appears and after her grand died she decides to walk through unknowingly walking into the past where she had another life. She re-meets the town including her husband and daughter. When she is trying to find out what happened in the past she learns a lot about her family and the reasons they time hop. She also uncovers a murder, her half brother, and the bread crumbs planted to help her. A through line of maternal protection was sweet.

I am starting to think of Ms. Young as a to-be-read author. Wonderful story. Full of love, family and really interesting characters. Magic too. I still need to work some of the timeline stuff through, but Ms. Young makes it all seem believable.

I always love a good Adrienne Young book! This one was no exception.
Such a good read, can’t wait for the sequel!

I will say this is my least favourite book of hers. . I liked the idea of time travelling, but it made it seem like it was inevitable, but also that some of the Farrows didn’t. The curse was never fully explained or why it didn’t affect the brother. The more I think about it the more the Birdie plot line unravels. I did feel bad for Mason as well. I did really like all the characters and I think if the plot was more fleshed out I could have loved it.
