I love Only Light Can Do That: 60 Days of MLK – Devotions for Kids by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Lisa A Crayton, and Sharifa Stevens! I used Only Light Can Do That as part of my personal devotion time and gleaned a lot out of it. I love how the Authors put MLK's writings along with Scripture and learning about different people that I may not have known about from the Civil Rights movement. I think Only Light Can Do That can be used for a Family or a Personal Devotional Time. It would also be perfect for a Christian Education Environment. I highly recommend Only Light Can Do That: 60 Days of MLK – Devotions for Kids! Thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for the opportunity to read this book. My review is also on Goodreads.
I loved this book from beginning to end. I read it to my 11, 7, 5 and 1yr old, MLK Jr was an extraordinary man of valu and I truly hope all parents read this book to their kids at some point.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for sharing this book in exchange for my honest review.
This book was a good look at the life of Dr. Martin Luther King. I think it is important that little kids are taught about him. I thought the illustrations were nicely drawn. Perhaps Christians and non Christians could like this book.

I received a complimentary copy of this book via Netgalley. Opinions expressed in this review are my own opinions.
A wonderful devotional book for all children. I love the comparison of the scripture to the words of MLKjr. Such an inspirational book about love and acceptance in the face of adversity.
We all know (or should) how inspiring Dr. Martin Luther King Jr is but this devotional really brings it home.
Since this is for kids, I really liked how the authors didn’t shy away from bigger words. They used the words and then gave the definition of the words so the kids can learn them properly.
This is certainly a unique devotional that I would classify as great for upper elementary students. The juxtaposition of Civil Rights history and bible lessons makes for a unique experience that will spark discussion around the dinner table.
Spend an entire day with this book and let’s learn about the various people who have fought against injustice, inequality and oppression.
This compilation is just not about these issues but also for about what we can do for the things we truly believe are our rights to live with dignity and without discrimination.
I love how thoughtful and important this book is. The quotes, the timelines, the brief events descriptions are top notch. So many issues to discuss about. Just grab this book and keep it in a place where you can read together and discuss the events.
Thought provoking and masterful.
Thank you, Thomas Nelson/Tommy Nelson, for the advance reading copy.
