Absolutely beautiful illustrations punctuate this clever and accomplishable read. Ideal for upper elementary and beyond. I’d add it to my classroom shelf gladly.
A cute little book with lovely illustrations detailing three cats that belong to a couple who are expecting a baby. Unfortunately, there wasn't much about the cats' anxiety or how they felt about the baby. I thought it would the the main conflict of the book but it blew over in a single page. And yes, I am aware that this is a children's book but still. There wasn't much about baby Alya either despite her name being in the title, which is weird. Nevertheless, an adorable read for the little ones.
A beautifully written children's book that is good for when you are expecting another child to emphasise that you will still love everyone the same even if there is also another to love.
This story uses the cats in the household to portray this which I think is great because young children are always interested in animals. It demonstrates that the cats fear they wont be as loved as they were before this new little creature came home which resonates with how some young siblings to be feel in real life.
I rated this book 4 star ⭐⭐⭐⭐ for the creative use of the cats rather than a first child feeling fearful in the situation of a new baby coming home and for the gorgeous illustrations.
Thank you to netgalley and publisher for allowing me to preview this book in return for an honest review.
This book is very sweet. I've heard a lot about how a new baby can drastically impact dogs but I've personally never heard anything from the point of view of a cat. I thought the illustrations of the cats were really cute and the style suited them well, but I wasn't a fan of how that particular style made the adults look.
What an adorable book with absolutely stunning illustrations!
Teaching children about a new baby can sometimes be daunting and upsetting for the parents and the children. This is such a lovely way of doing it using the 3 cute cats.
I love type of illustrations used in this book. They appear as if drawn in bright sunlight where everything is illuminated starkly and even fine details of structures and buildings are visible.
Artwork of this story is Excellent.
Story is also simple easy to read for young kids.
It is simple and uncomplicated.
Three cats described in tale are cute. They are cute emotionally and worry for their master's love, when new born arrives.
A very good book to gift to kids to get them started on a lifelong reading habit.
Thanks netgalley and publisher for review copy.
This book was so cute. I have animals, and I love that this story shows the cats and baby living together with the cats protecting her. I love it!!
This children's book tells the story of a new baby entering a family from the perspective of three cats. I found this perspective unique because most books covering the arrival of a new baby are told from the view of an older sibling. In this story, some of the plot points occur very abruptly; for example, a grandmother suddenly appears without an introduction and the cats' feelings of abandonment are resolved without a clear solution. Despite a few awkward transitions, this is overall a very cute children's story.
Alya and the Three Cats by Amina Hachimi Alaoui is a cute story about three cats that have a pregnant owner and how they feel about her coming home with a new baby. Will these cats that have been the center of attention be able to learn to share the love of their owner? This is an adorable story with engaging illustrations by Maya Fidawi that shows us that love is to be shared and there is enough to go around for everyone. I do wish it was a little longer as I really liked the style.

Let's start with the illustrations - they were simple, but super cute. There is so much going on in this story and I love it. I honestly teared up when Grandma said "To love is to share." This story is so sweet and filled with so much love. I appreciate how they easily wove in the story of how the cats came to live there as well. The cats even all have personalities (just like real cats!).
Highly recommend. Loved this one.
I received a free ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
The pictures in this book are gorgeous and detailed. The story flows well and has a good message. There is lots of love to share. I think children would enjoy this story.
What a precious book! This story is told from the perspective of three cats with very different personalities. When their owner becomes pregnant they fear that their contented lifestyle may be changing. This was a beautifully illustrated book, and I loved the diverse names and cleverly told story. I would recommend this book to anyone who is expecting a new baby in their life to read to their children. A wonderful story with a great message, "There is more than enough love to go around!"
Beautiful illustrations and prose make this book stand out! It has a positive message about being open to the change of a new sibling using the story of three cats. I would recommend this for a younger audience (2-3 year olds) as it's a fairly simple and short book.
Thank you to NetGalley and CrackBoom! Books for providing an ARC of this book.
I'm reviewing some children's books with my granddaughter Gia. Please keep in mind she is 4, and cannot read, but she likes lively pictures and is partial to cats, witches, dragons, and the color pink. LOL
In "selecting" which titles to review, I enlisted her help, letting her virtually select from the "read now" titles.
Thankfully I believe she was able to select books within her age group, surprisingly!
She picked this one due to the cats on the cover.
I was disappointed that I couldn't download it to my PC because it would be awesome to see the book in color, but I could not get access to that particular "device" under manage my devices.
We viewed it on my cell phone because my kindle has no color. (bad choice nana!) but she gave it a thumbs up for the kitties and a thumbs down for the baby carriage. Not sure why, I think she felt she should've "seen the stinkin baby" LOL!!!
I thought the story was cute, and was just short enough to keep her attention.
It also teaches that love is divisible among all those you love, it never runs out, therefore Myriam is able to love her kitties even though she added in a new (human) baby!
Very cute. We enjoyed this one!
Highly recommend for young cat lovers and great to help teach the lesson for a new sibling scenario as well, that they will always be loved, even when the "new baby" comes on the scene.
I received an advanced reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.
This book is so adorable and sweet! I loved the story and the illustrations are beautiful and heartwarming!
This book is a tale of three very different cats who are all loved the same by their owner, but one day she leaves and comes home with a baby and the cats dont know what to make of it. The gran treasures them that their owner will still love them the same and then their owner shows them her love. The cats become accustomed to the baby after this.
I totally adored this little colourful book so much!
I must have read it like three times already! Because it's too cute and adorable! The illustrations did it all I would say. They stand out, like sparkling stars on a clear dark sky. It exactly made me feel this way regarding the illustrations!
The storyline is good but I feel there's nothing much new to it. However, it's about the three cats in the family which have different personalities and it's described/illustrated well. But the reader me got a little disappointed everytime the book comes to an end just because it's just damn too short even for a children's picture book! I keep thinking the story's just starting and then comes the abrupt ending. Yes, it's a little too abrupt for me. I was expecting more words and illustrations.
Overall, it's a pretty book with cosy, colourful content.
I will be keeping an eye on the author and the illustrator!
Cute, nicely illustrated story of three cats that get anxious when a new baby is thrown into the mix of their otherwise happy home.
Simple story of cats being reassured there is love for all.

Originally written in Arabic, it doesn't seem to suffer in the translation. The pictures carry the story quite well.
Very simple story, but reassuring.

A beautiful tale (pun intended) about three cats who soon find that a baby can change some things, but not the love of having a family. I love this book so much because it teaches children that with having new additions we embrace the old as well.
This is a beautiful children's book translated from the original Polish (I think -- Alya i trzy koty) that tells the story of three cats whose owner is going to have a baby. They don't know that, of course, and are intrigued by the growing belly that sometimes has thumping going on within, then their owner's mysterious disappearance. When the baby comes home they are originally a little unsure, but they quickly learn that there's enough love for all and they become a happy family of one more.
The art is lovely and the tone is sweet. Children of families with cats will relate to these three kitties and what it's like to grow up in a home already filled with felines. Some reviewers have suggested that it's a metaphor for being a child when another baby is born and that may work, but that may also be overthinking things. Kids whose parents had cats when they were born are likely to hear similar stories and have similar family memories of the cats reacting with amusing alarm at the jumping belly before forming a bond with the new, furless little creature who's been brought home.
This is a lovely story that will be an especially big hit with cat loving families.
I read a temporary digital ARC of this book for the purpose of review.
