Description
A LibraryReads Hall of Fame Pick
They were nine survivors. Now, a decade later, only seven remain...how long can they keep the promise made that night? Don’t miss this “gripping thriller” (CrimeReads) from the Reese Witherspoon Book Club selected and New York Times bestselling author Megan Miranda.
A decade ago, two vans filled with high school seniors on a school service trip crashed into a Tennessee ravine—a tragedy that claimed the lives of multiple classmates and teachers. The nine students who managed to escape the river that night were irrevocably changed. A year later, after one of the survivors dies by suicide on the anniversary of the crash, the rest of them make a pact: to come together each year to commemorate that terrible night.
To keep one another safe.
To hold one another accountable.
Or both.
Their annual meeting place, a house on the Outer Banks, has long been a refuge. But by the tenth anniversary, Cassidy Bent has worked to distance herself from the tragedy and from the other survivors. She’s changed her mobile number. She’s blocked the others’ email addresses. This year, she is determined to finally break ties once and for all. But on the day of the reunion, she receives a text with an obituary attached: another survivor is gone. Now they are seven—and Cassidy finds herself hurling back toward the group, wild with grief—and suspicion.
Almost immediately, something feels off this year. Cassidy is the first to notice when Amaya, the annual organizer, slips away, overwhelmed. This wouldn’t raise alarm except for the impending storm. Suddenly, they’re facing the threat of closed roads and surging waters…again. Then Amaya stops responding to her phone. After all they’ve been through, she wouldn’t willfully make them worry. Would she?
And—as they promised long ago—each survivor will do whatever he or she can do to save one another. Won’t they?
A propulsive and chilling locked-box mystery filled with the dazzling hairpin twists that are the author’s signature, The Only Survivors is New York Times bestselling author Megan Miranda’s best novel yet.

Heart pounding thriller that left me on the edge of my seat. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this one. Definitely one of the best books this year.
Mystery and intrigue written by a talented and gifted author. This book was sent to me by Netgalley electronically for review. Thanks to the publisher and author. This book is captivating. It is a page turner, a cannot out down. The characters come alive on the pages of this novel. What will happen next? Who is guilty? A group of friends who have come together year after year…why? Enjoy…
I am a huge fan of Megan Miranda. So when I saw her name I knew I had to request to read her new novel. Her writing is just so captivating. She does such an amazing good of luring you in and making you send the entire day head first in the book. Her writing style is one of my all time favorites!
Thank you Scribner and NetGalley for the Advanced Digital Copy of this thriller. One of my favorite books this year. It was a quick read, taking less than two days from start to finish. The author’s creative use of multiple POVs, mainly one POV with others used on a limited basis where it benefited the telling of the story really added to my experience as a reader and was different from other multiple POV use I have read before. The twists and turns were executed very effectively; I was definitely surprised. I thought the dual timelines made the story more interesting and helped increase the suspense. I am looking forward to reading more of her books.
A thrilling, suspense novel where a group of nine high school classmates bond as survivors of a school van crash that had sent them hurling into a raging river in the Tennessee mountains. Now in their twenties, the group continues to meet for a week every year at an isolated house, strengthening their bonds and their pledge to each other to keep the secrets of that horrific van crash that had killed 12 of their other classmates.
After two of the nine survivors die, the rest are uneasy and don't know if they can still trust each other, suspecting that one of them could be a murderer.
I like that the story of the crash is told in bits and pieces throughout the book and we get the full and complete story of what happened only at the end, This way of telling the story added to the suspense and kept me guessing. The ending was not a total surprise to me, but still a good one.
I started this book and had to stay up late to finish because it was so good!! I think I’ve loved every book Megan Miranda has written, but this might be my favorite. It’s about a group of teens that survive a horrible incident and come back together once a year. 10 years on, weird things happen. Loved it!
Many thanks to NetGalley, Megan Miranda, and Scribner for this ARC!
I love Megan Miranda and this book did not disappoint. "The eight" survivors re banded together by a traumatic event in their early teens, and they get together at a beach house on the anniversary every year to check in on each other. This year it becomes apparent that someone is orchestrating their arrival to the beach house, they begin to question why they are there and are they being watched? Who can they trust? As the survivors come together things increasingly don't add up and the truth begins to spill out on what happened that fateful night long ago.
I highly recommend this fast paced thriller that kept me guessing until the surprising end!
Another unputdownable thriller from the queen of brilliant settings and slow burning mysteries!
This slow burn, claustrophobic mystery made me assumptions till I reached the last chapter. Tension slowly builds and when things finally escalated you feel the exact goosebumps, sitting at the edge of your seat, increasing your reading speed to find out the big revelation. The author successfully didn’t give much away and the final twists make you scream WTH! I didn’t see them coming!
This is story of nine survivors! They were innocent high school kids on the school trip, surviving from van accident, living with guilt, harboring secrets, celebrating their lives by meeting at the cabin called the Shallows: as the townies also call “ The Ghost House”.
They made a pact to let the bygones be bygones, not talking about the tragic event which changed their lives forever!
They were nine! But a decade later they are only seven! One of them committed suicide as the other overdosed!
They keep coming to the Shallow at each year: because it’s a place of safety, and retreat, isolated from the rest of the world, and surrounded on all sides by the endless deep.
Cassidy, Josh, Brody, Hollis, Amaya, Oliver, Grace were the last ones standing! But will they stay alive longer? Somebody is watching the Shallow, playing mind games with them.
Cassidy finds a cell phone at the sea, the same phone she has gotten message about the obituary of Ian who was one of them. The message convinced her to come back to the Shallow! But now she realizes Ian’s death might not be accident. He tried to reach her before he died. He messaged her that she was the only one he could trust. Could one of them mess with the others and decide to talk with the authorities about what really happened at that tragic night? But most importantly could one of them be killer targeting the rest of the group?
I loved the smart twists and how things were wrapped up adroitly! I was planning to give four stars but smart ending made me give extra half star and round up 4.5 to 5 slow burn mystery, cabin in the woods stars!
Special thanks to NetGalley and Scribner/ S&s / Marysue Rucci Books for sharing this amazing digital reviewer copy with me in exchange my honest opinions.
“Who do you save in the moment, when you have the chance?” Is the question that plagues the main narrator of this book, Cassidy. Years before Cassidy and her friends had been involved in a tragic accident but now the past is very much the present. As they try to figure out their relationships as survivors, too each other and the world, they also have to deal with the memories and the truth about that fateful night! Another great read from Megan Miranda!
okay yes yes yes!!! I’m so happy that this one was a win! 🤩🤩🤩
this was such an atmospheric read with a fantastic cast of characters!! I loved every minute of this one - it kept me guessing until the very last page and kept my mind spinning the entire time!
ten years ago, nine teenagers survived a terrible accident, leaving thirteen of their classmates dead. now completely off the rails, the remaining seven of them gather during the anniversary and of course, paranoia ensues 🙃
told from alternating POVs from past to present, I loved how you didn’t know exactly what happened during the big accident until the very last page. it kept leading and leading and leading the reader on until it all clicked at the end and had me screaming HOLY SH- at 2am 😳
while I did guess the secret antagonist from the beginning, I didn’t mind because I loved figuring out the little easter eggs scattered throughout the novel and squealing when it was finally revealed 🤭 (aka my favorite type of thrillers ever)
the ending plot twist still had me reeling though. megan miranda really got me this time 🫡
a huge thank you to netgalley and simon and schuster for the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review!!
rating: 4.5 stars

This was my introduction to Megan Miranda and I am hooked. To say this book is suspenseful is to put it mildly.. From beginning to end, the intrigue kept building and building. What also struck me as sheer talent was the sensitive and perceptive way in which she constructed this thriller. I truly felt sympathy for the characters, those who survived and those who didn't. The differing time designations added to the excitement.
I especially liked the twists throughout the story. I thought I had it figured out until I didn't. Can't wait to read more!
Wow, wow, wow. I loved this book. Megan Miranda is so fantastic at writing characters you really care about, and this book is no exception. The end of this book was a jaw dropper. Pick this up when it comes out; you won’t regret it!!
Megan Miranda really is the current queen of thrillers and mysteries. I have read all her mysteries and this is one of my top three. The characters were compelling and the structure of the story was amazing. I loved that slowly the past that has bound these very different people together slowly came out one hour/chapter at a time spaced throughout the dangers they face in the present. I also love that there is always one (or more) twist that I never see coming, but none of the twists ever feel gratuitous or only there for shock value - they always mesh with the characters and their actions and choices.
This is a truly wonderful book and I highly recommend it to anyone who loves a good mystery/thriller!
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC of this book. Megan Miranda does it again! I could not put this triller down. It kept me on the edge of my seat and engaged throughout. I love books like this that explore several characters and contains unguessable twists. Would recommend!
I found this book to be absolutely fantastic! It kept me interested from start to finish. I loved how Megan Miranda revealed the pieces of the puzzle a little at a time, interspersing with past and present from chapter to chapter. The ending was phenomenal as well. Highly, highly recommend!
A tragedy binds a group of high school students together. Nine survivors of a crash, and the decisions they made back then to keep a pact is haunting them.
🚐
Ten years later, at their annual get together at “The Shallows”, they learn one of the original survivors has overdosed! Then another one comes up missing shortly after arrival!
🚐
This novel was full of secrets, lies, deception and cover ups that had me waiting for the next crazy crisis!
🚐
A necklace, cards, knife, camera and other things are clues to a coverup. With someone dead and someone missing who could be next? Are they turning on each other?
🚐
Miranda did it again. She is an auto buy for me with her psychological thrillers.
🚐
Thanks Netgalley, Scribner for this advanced copy. The Survivors is due out April 11, 2023.
Excellent mystery about a group of former classmates who reunite to mark the tenth anniversary of a tragic accident—only to have one of the survivors disappear, casting fear and suspicion on the original tragedy.
Once again, I can clearly see why Megan Miranda is one of the top authors in her genre. This may be my favorite Miranda book to date.
This is another must-read by Megan Miranda, who never disappoints. Cassidy Bent reluctantly make the annual reunion pilgrimage to the Outer Banks of North Carolina. This event brings together the remaining survivors of a horrific event in which there were nine original members. This 10th anniversary trip begins as the "only survivors" are together again, and now there are seven. What has happened to each of them in the intervening years? More importantly, what happened to two of their number? What secrets are each holding, and who has shared some of those secrets?
Miranda writes a fast-paced story, alternating viewpoints among the survivors of the tragedy, and the roles that each of them played. The dichotomous settings of a rushing river tragedy and a yearly powerful ocean reunion are a perfect fit for this story. A great ending that I did not see coming, together with relatable characters, make for a delicious read.
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for providing this advance copy for me to read and review
The book was a well-paced, exciting mystery. I was surprised By the ending, which is always a good thing. I would definitely recommend this book!
This book was a spectacular thriller. I enjoyed every minute of it! I feel like I was holding my breath the whole time I read it. I liked the set up of going backwards in time during the flashbacks. The twists & turns were excellent as well.
Megan Miranda is a master of suspense and one of my favorite authors. This is a slow burn thriller with a unique and captivating plot that will take readers into the minds of several different characters as a shared tragedy from their past is unearthed and re-examined. Alternating time periods create a plethora of suspense and the character development is outstanding. The descriptions completely drew me into the story. Fans of B. A. Paris and Wendy Walker should put this at the top of their TBR list.
This was such an incredible time. Heart-pounding, The Only Survivors will have you feeling like you're being watched, like your own past, present, and future are at stake. A terribly dramatic and enrapturing story that'll have you in its grip until the very last turn.
Another twisty tale from a queen of thriller writing! Loved the premise and flew through this one since I couldn't wait to find out how it would turn out. If you're a fan of her previous books, you'll love this one too!
This is the best Megan Miranda book I have read so far. I absolutely loved it!
The Only Survivors follows a group of survivors that reunite annually to reminisce about an accident they survived many years ago. However, since the accident two others have also perished. Was the accident truly accidental or something more sinister? Is the annual reunion a time to come together to remember lost friends or an act of control?
The Only Survivors kept me guessing until the end. Miranda creates characters you love and those you love to hate. In addition, there are plot twists galore. If you are looking for a great thriller, this is the one to pick up.
Thank you NetGalley for an arc of this intense thriller.
A tense gripping thriller, with Megan Miranda's usual insightful and at times poetic and philosophical style. How does a group of student survive after a horrendous accident, where only some of them survived. How to live with the secrets, the guilt and the obligations to each other. And is one of them a killer and the rest in danger.
Special thanks to NetGalley for the advanced reader copy. This book had me guessing the whole way. I really enjoyed how the backstory chapter's started from the end and went backwards to the beginning. Very creative. I also loved how the author described the locations and the accident, she made it feel like you were there with the characters. Great book!
This may actually be the best Megan Miranda book I have read since her first! I couldn't put it down and was captivated by the mystery of it all. Told in the present by one character and flashbacks to the day of a tragedy from the pov of other survivors, this slow burn thriller kept me turning the pages. I enjoyed the premise and I really enjoyed the book! Thank you netgalley for this arc in exchange for my honest opinion.
As always, Miranda delivers with this suspense thriller told backwards. I finished the book in 2 days. Love it and will recommend it to friends.
I’m a huge Megan Miranda fan so I was so excited to receive an ARC for this book! I loved the plot of this book, and definitely didn’t see the twists coming! Another great thriller!
I loved this from start to finish read in one sitting. It was thrilling I enjoyed small town mystery and Megan Miranda’s writing. 5 star read.
I really enjoyed the dual-timeline nature of this book. The way the chapters in the past were told was quite ingenious, moving from the conclusion of the accident, to the beginning of the trip. The outcome was never in doubt, but you knew from the start that the story was in how everyone got to this point. The impending storm makes for a tight, atmospheric feel to the book - I've never been to The Outer Banks, but I feel like I have, based on the evocative descriptions. Definitely a title that I will recommend to fans of Mary Kubica, Ruth Ware, or Rachel Hawkins.
I absolutely love Megan Miranda, and she knocked it out of the park with this one! I was on my toes until the very end!
Every year, I am OBSESSED when the new Megan Miranda book gets released, so when I was able to get my hands on a copy early, I was over the moon. With all the murders and accidents lately, my mind always goes back to the survivors, and the guilt they must feel. Miranda’s new novel, The Only Survivors, is based off just that.
This fast-past thriller is about a group of former high school students that survived a tragic accident together ten years ago. After two of their group members lost their life to suicide, they now get together every year on the anniversary of the accident, to check in on each other. This year they are suspicious that one of their own is talking to the press, and that the true story of what happened that night will come to light….
I always get suck in to Megan Miranda books with her fast-past writing and her unexpected twists and turns. This book was exactly that, with me finishing it in two days! The story takes place now in the present time, with some chapters focusing on the past of each survivor. With both perspectives, you start to piece together what really happened that night, and the unexpected events that follow. This takes place in the Outer Banks, so I can not wait to read it again on the beach this summer. The only difficultly I had reading this was there were many characters, so a little hard to keep them straight at some points.
Miranda does it again with 5 stars! Everyone go grab a copy of The Only Survivors on April 11th!
Twisty and so entertaining! I loved the premise of this one and the execution did not disappoint. This author is always a solid pick.
January is for reading....
I'm a beach kid, always have been, always will be. So as the winter sneaks upon me, going outside is the LAST thing I want to do. I use these cold months to binge read books. If I am not reading a book, I am listening to a book. This has been the only way I have managed to survive these cold and dreary months until the sun begins to burn my skin.
I had really really wanted to be chosen to be an early reader for Megan Miranda's, The Only Survivors. It was a long shot, as I am fully aware this is an extremely sought after book as well as an in demand author. This of course, is all rightfully so. Megan Miranda deserves every ounce of fortune and success headed her way.
Miranda has a way of keeping me on my toes. Her storyline is always well thought out, the characters engaging and realistic and the best part? The twist. You will never figure out the twist before she exposes it to you. The Only Survivors is no different.
I know before even starting a Megan Miranda book that there is no way I will be disappointed. I have read them all. From All The Missing Girls to The Last To Vanish. I can rattle off moments in each one of her books from memory. I read quite often so remembering details isn't always my strong suit but Miranda has a way to make her words linger through your soul for months, even years after concluding one of her books.
The Only Survivors is going to be a fan favorite amongst readers. I know we are very early into this year but I can say without one doubt in my mind that this book will be one of my favorites this year.
I want to give a big thank you to Megan Miranda, Scribner, and Netgalley for allowing me to be a part of the success of this book. It was one of the highest honors

Seven hours in the past. Seven days in the present. Seven survivors remaining. Who would you save?
A decade ago, two vans filled with high school seniors on a school service trip crashed into a Tennessee ravine—a tragedy that claimed the lives of multiple classmates and teachers. The nine students who managed to escape the river that night were irrevocably changed. A year later, after one of the survivors dies by suicide on the anniversary of the crash, the rest of them make a pact: to come together each year to commemorate that terrible night.
To keep one another safe.
To hold one another accountable.
Or both.
Their annual meeting place, a house on the Outer Banks, has long been a refuge. But by the tenth anniversary, Cassidy Bent has worked to distance herself from the tragedy, and from the other survivors.
Cassidy is the first to notice when Amaya, annual organizer, slips away, overwhelmed.
Won’t they?
10 years ago a high school trip turned to tragedy leaving many dead but 9 survivors. A year after the accident, one of the survivors takes their own life. The 8 remaining decide to make an agreement to get together every year at a beach house in the Outer Banks to remember the accident and watch out for each other. Cassidy Bent, one of the 8, decides maybe she will skip this year but at the last minute receives a text that includes an obituary of another of the group who has died. Feeling obligated and very suspicious of this sudden loss, she finds herself once again making the trip to the beach house to get some answers. Switching back and forth from the present to the day of the accident, the story unfolds and brings all of the tragedy, grief and unanswered questions forward. This was a fast paced novel that kept me guessing and had quite an unforeseen twist and ending. I gave this novel a solid 5 stars.
A thriller that left me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. A tight knit group of people comes together each year on the anniversary of a tragic accident that killed many of their classmates. Even though there were many characters involved, I felt like I got to know each one and learned who I liked and trusted and who I did not. I didn’t expect the big revelation at the end, which was a complete shock to me. I also really loved the structure of the book. Told between “then” and “now,” the “now” is told by the main character, Cassidy, while the “then” rotates between each character in the group. I would definitely recommend this books to thriller seekers and lovers of Megan Miranda!
Publication Date: April 11, 2023
Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
When a group of friends reunited each year, it's for support for an awful tragedy they can't seem to forget. But who can you really trust? Megan Miranda never disappoints!
I am super biased because I am a huge fan of Megan Miranda. I felt so lucky to receive this galley. She has excellent prose and great narration. I can almost never guess the twists and turns she throws into her novels. This book was just the same. I started it at 10:30 pm and binged it. Stayed up until 2am to finish because can never ever put down any of Megan Miranda is books. When it publishes, I will most definitely be buying the hard copy to add to my MM collection.
Could. Not. Put. This. Down.
Read this if you want to be up until 3am, hiding underneath your covers, questioning all of your life choices.
This book gave me major Yellowjackets meets Final Destination vibes.
I was guessing until the very end. The past timeline is done from varying POVs, offering several perspectives. I was simultaneously feeling like I was closing in on the truth, while also feeling thrown completely off the trail at every turn. Everything and everyone was under constant suspicion.
Anytime I read a thriller that is a page turner, I’m afraid to finish it. Keeping the reader hooked is not the same as delivering a deserving ending, and can often lead to disappointment. Of course, everyone has different opinions of what is disappointing/satisfying, but I was satisfied with the ending of this book.
Megan Miranda is one of my favorite authors and again, she does not disappoint. I was hooked within the first few chapters, and could not put this down. The Tjen and now time-line made the story so interesting amd slowly revealed each characters secrets and flaws. I did expect the antagonist to be who it was! Definitely 5 stars!
Another work of art by Megan Miranda! This title was filled with a breadcrumb trail of clues and twists that kept me furiously flipping pages. It’s beachside setting and connection to a group of characters who are my age added something special to this title as well. The promise of long-kept secrets and alternating “then and now” timelines made it so special. I can’t wait to share this book. It’s one of my new favorites, both by this author and in general!
*I was graciously gifted an ARC of this title from Scribner through NetGalley.
Absolutely INCREDIBLE. I read so many of these books I was convinced that I had the plot twist figured out, but Megan continues to amaze as she caught me off guard yet again.
100% recommend this to everyone who likes a mystery/thriller novel.
Another great thriller by an auto read author for me. I loved how Miranda slowly weaves in the background of how this group of people, that gather yearly in a vacation house, know each other and hold to this time even though they don't seem to like each other. This will be a hit with our library readers!
MY JAW WAS ON THE FLOOR. The twists just kept coming and coming. Megan really knows how to keep you guessing till the last page! The similarities were crazy to my actual life. My name for one only it was Cassidy and not Kassidy. My husband is Josh and my birthday was also mentioned! It added to the eerie feeling for me ! 10/10 and thank you so much for this opportunity! Review will be with my February wrap up on TikTok @kassidyyy6
I am a huge fan of Megan Miranda - her books are always page turners for me! Her latest, The Only Survivors, was no exception. Cassidy and her friends survived a tragedy ten years ago during their senior year of high school - as the gang reunites for their annual trip to the Outer Banks, something seems off in the remote house that they share every year. With two of the survivors now dead, secrets begin to emerge about the survivors causing tension and uncertainty among them. This novel was tense and had excellent twists as it progresses, jumping from the Outer Banks reunion to the night of the horrible accident that changed their lives. I would absolutely recommend this title. Congratulations to Ms. Miranda on another outstanding novel - I can't wait for the next one!
Loved this book!!! It kept me on my toes from the very first page!! I rate this book five out of five stars. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants a good read!
This book was amazing! I couldn’t put it down. Absolutely terrifying and thrilling at the same time. One of my favorite books!!
I love Megan Miranda's thrillers! The Only Survivors solidified this. This book is full of twists and turns, tense, and has the kind of plot that keeps me personally intrigued! If you're a psychological thriller fan you can't go wrong with any of her books!
This one is great! I have been a fan of Megan Miranda for a long time. All The Missing Girls was maybe the first book that got me into this type of mystery novel. Contemporary, written by and starring women, generally featuring an unwitting detective. This one really delivers. She does a great job of casting equal suspicion on everyone and the tension just builds and builds and builds. It’s really twisty and surprising but the plot doesn’t get muddled in favor of cheap twists. I recommend this if you like stormy beaches, multiple perspectives, towns with secrets, and now-and-then timelines.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the digital ARC!
Ten years ago, nine high school students survived the unimaginable: an accident along a dark highway that sent their school vans into a roaring river and killed 1o classmates and two teachers. Since then, two of "the group" have died, leaving seven to heal together each year during the anniversary week at a beach house. But this year feels different. The second, recent death feels "off" and to Cassidy, who was reluctant to come in the first place, it feels like someone is watching them. Waiting for the perfect moment to finish what was started all those years ago.
This book is told in the present though Cassidy's POV, and in flashbacks of the accident from each of the survivor's POV.
I am a huge fan of Megan Miranda's, so I want to get that out of the way at the start. She is able to craft some absolutely amazing twisty and emotional thrillers that just suck me in and leave my mouth hanging open. When I read the description of this book, I immediately thought this one sounded like another winner. And I was absolutely right.
Miranda has written another story with complex characters that are all more than what they seem at first. Each is hiding something, whether it's about what happened the night of the accident or what is going on in their lives now - or even both! And the story is crafted around these secrets and lies so well that it just creates a tense and suspenseful atmosphere that is so taut, you can practically snap it like a rubber band. It absolutely loved it.
And boy did those twists hit. I mean, I was floored. That's the thing about good twists. They have to be not only believable enough, but they have to have that punch. And the ending twist in this one was a K.O. Call it, match is over.
So not only did this book really delivered with the suspense, thrills and characters, but the emotional substance was there as well. You could feel the emotional pain and tension as these young people had to make decisions no one should ever have to make in their lifetimes.
It was just a well-rounded book, crafted by someone who is obviously an expert storyteller, with hopefully many more stories in her left.
A must-read!
Maybe I'm not the best one to judge this book, as I've truly never come across a Megan Miranda book I DIDN'T thoroughly enjoy- but this may be her best yet. I couldn't put it down, and a lot of that is due to the fact that her writing is so fluid that it is almost Lyrical at times. I could feel my anxiety ramping up at the appropriate times; my sympathy growing deep for the appropriate characters. Once again, just an all-around well done book. I know I won't HAVE to recommend this one in order for it to fly off our shelves- but I'll be doing so, anyway.
“You are not the worst thing you’ve ever done,” and sometimes doing nothing is the worst thing of all. Miranda constructs one hell of a story with tragedy, pacts, lies and intrigue until you’re not quite sure who to trust or what to believe. The characters are deep and detailed, the plot shifts and exposes the tiniest flaws, and Miranda’s use of the written word is impeccable in this truly excellent story. This one had me pausing to process what just happened, yelling at the characters and saying “what the h!” more than once, which for me are the signs of a truly remarkable book. It’s been awhile since I’ve read a Megan Miranda and she delivers a well written, action packed mystery every single time.
Megan Miranda books are an auto-read for me and this one is no different. The beginning is very eerie and interest-piquing. A fun domestic thriller that will leave you guessing up until the very end.
And here I was thinking Miranda's last novel was her best... I have been proven wrong and 1 am so happy about it! Amazing prose, truly fun story, and characters worth writing about. Thank you for writing this!
I was hooked on this book from the first page. I couldn’t wait to get home from work so I could keep reading. I thought ti was very well written and I loved the alternating timelines. I’ve already recommended it to my bookworm friends. Loved this ARC, thank you NetGalley!
I really enjoyed The Only Survivors. It was fast paced and kept me guessing the entire time. I liked that it gave you snips of the past along with what was going on in the present. I have read a few Megan Miranda books and I will definitely be reading more! I would highly recommend this book to those who love mystery and thrillers. I am so thankful to have been given and advance readers copy of this novel through NetGalley.
This book was straight up awesome. I felt like I was on the edge of my seat the whole time trying to figure out the secrets and who to trust. I LOVED that the Past POV started at the end and went back to the beginning. It was so clever and really helped to build the suspense. I was thrown by the twists and would highly recommend this awesome thriller!!
