Christine Caine has been an inspiration to me for many years and this book was a blessing to read. I always learn from this wounded woman of God. One of my favorite quotes from the book is: “We cannot go where we are going without leaving where we have been.” If you have wounded and broken places in your life that you believe prevent you from being used by God as he helps you live out the dreams he has for you, I think this book would be a vital piece in your healing/dreaming journey
An inspirational book. Such Bible based reminders to dream the dreams God has placed in your heart. He is bigger than I can dream or imagine and will equip me for the things he has planned for me.
This quick read provided so many reminders of the resiliency we are called to as followers of Christ. I wish it was slightly longer so we could dive into each section even further. As usual, Christine Caine deeply roots her observations in scripture.
The kindle version of this is a bit wonky, I’m sure it would be better in print.
Thank you NetGalley for the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
Summary:
Have you ever had a dream or a goal you really wanted to achieve? have you ever felt you've messed up too much to achieve something you set out to do? Have procrastinated something to the point you feel it's too late now to accomplish? Well, God and Christine Caine have a few things to tell you: It's Never Too Late. May the pages ahead shed new life into the dream or goal you once wanted. May the words within this book help you see that you aren't alone and you can still set out to accomplish what you stopped thinking you can.
You know that saying: Life is what happens when you're busy making plans? I relate to it sooooo much. When I was younger, I had dreams I dreamt with such passion. However, life, insecurity, doubt, etc got in my way. If outside situations didn't waylay my goals, I had no problem letting my inner critic do the job. Years would pass by until I finally hit that point where I felt too much time had gone by. It's too late for me. I've probably wasted to gift God gave me.
Well, this book was a great reminder that isn't the case. It's not too late. No matter what life throws at you, or what people have done to you, that goal/dream is still within your reach. Christine shares you the story of Favour whose own cousin sold her into prostitution and how, despite the nightmare she endured, she was able to heal enough to chase the dream she once had. You'll also read about Lori Ann's gut wrenching journey to have children. Repeated loss forced detours she hadn't planned, but they led her to her dream being achieved, though differently than she expected.
This book is packed with encouragement to still be what God called you to be or achieve what God put on your heart to achieve- NO MATTER WHAT STUMBLING BLOCKS OR DETOURS YOU ENCOUNTER. Many of us need this reminder. The dreams we once had can still be achieved. It isn't too late. We haven't wasted too much time. I hope you find as much encouragement as I did.
I really enjoy reading Christine Caine's works, especially her daily email devotions (signup on her website), her Instagram posts, and her previous book, Don't Look Back. When I heard about her new book, Permission to Dream, I was excited to get my hands on it. Anyone with a dream or vision in their heart should read it. She gives examples from her own life of the step-by-step processes that God led her through to her current stage of leading many fruitful ministries that are blessing people around the world. I look forward to reading her future books!
I love Permission to Dream by Christine Caine! Through 6 chapters Ms. Caine gives a plethora of examples of how allows dreams to come to be--whether it rearranging the broken pieces of our dreams or totally rewriting our dreams entirely. I love the ideas and Godly Wisdom that Ms. Caine brings out in each chapter. Each example is inspiring and encouraged me to keep a hold of the dreams God has for my life. I used Permission to Dream as part of my own personal devotional time and it Ministered to Me. I highly recommend Permission to Dream by Christine Caine! I would like to thank NetGalley and the Publisher for the opportunity to read this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. My review is also on Goodreads.
This book is a wonderful and hopeful reminder that as humans we need to dream. We are taught in the modern pragmatic world that dreamers are lazy and unrealistic but God created us with the ability to exist outside the parameters of the realistic and gave us the ability and the desire to soar!
Christine Caine has long been one of my favourite preachers and authors. This book is so encouraging and inspiring, packed with reminders that ultimately, we aren't big enough or powerful enough to thwart the plan that God has for us, and to trust Him with the dreams He has given us. It is so hope-filled and life-giving. Highly recommended!
Thank you to the author, NetGalley and the publisher.
Christine Caine, need we say more? I expected formula, but this book was not that. It was excellent and should be read by anyone who thinks they don't quite measure up, or that circumstances in their life mean they will never make it to where God has called them. You can dream - and like Joseph, speaking to the Baker and Cupbearer - even when your dreams haven't materialized, know that God is the one who gives dreams and He is the one who brings them to fruition. Christine gives us the gift of seeing inside her life and how this has played out in her life. You will get a lot out of this book.
I loved this book! Dreaming can be hard when life continues to feel like shoe after shoe is dropping. The author discusses hope and resilience and their importance in dreaming. Parts of it felt hard to hear but I also know that's because I'm still wrestling through this topic. Worth the read!
