Winstead has DONE IT AGAIN. Always a fresh novel for me to devour in one setting. She writes in a few genres, and I am up for anything she writes.

Jane Sharp is a typical college student, but when her father dies unexpectedly her grief is OVERWHELMING, which is to be expected.

She dives into true crime and becomes online friends with people who deep dive into hunting killers. This hits close to home when three college girls in Idaho are killed and Jane and her friends are determined to find the killer.

I love the feel of this novel with parts set up as a chat from the online friends and the feedback.
We hear from Jane a year after the events unfolded. The END got me. What does Jane really know?

Ashley Winstead's writing is haunting - there is no other way to describe it. If you haven't read it, pick up "In My Dreams I Hold A Knife" immediately!

Winstead's new novel is framed as a book written by the protagonist, Janeway Sharp. Jane spirals after the death of her father and quits college and immerses herself in online forums to push aside her grief. She quickly befriends an online group that is dedicated to solving murders, a group that has been pretty successful to date. When three college women are murdered in a sorority house in Jane becomes more and more obsessed the the group. When more murders take place, the gang travels to the college town to make sense of it all.

The tension is thick! Winstead creates a bit of claustrophobic anxiety as we get closer and closer to solving the crime. If you love true crime, or a unique thriller, this is a book for you!

I loved the idea of five amateur sleuths on the hunt for a killer, it had that element that I was looking for and enjoyed about the genre. The characters felt like they were supposed to in this universe and thought the overall feel worked together with the genre. The characters had that element that I wanted and really felt for the characters in this story. Ashley Winstead has a great overall feel in this book, and I really had a good time reading this.

I can think of no author who is as versatile as Ashley Winstead. None of her books follow a formula, and she can cross genres with ease, but one thing remains consistent, and that's her haunting, lyrical prose.

Jane Sharp is in college when she gets the panicked call from her mother--her father has had a heart attack. Jane doesn't make it home in time. She has no idea how to accept her father's death because it doesn't seem real. She also realizes how little she knows of the man who gave her life, loved her, and raised her. After disappointing herself with the grand eulogy she planned to write for her father, she finds an unexpected distraction in someone else's grief. She becomes obsessed with true crime and virtually meets a group of amateur detectives. With her father's ashes keeping her company, Jane finds friendship, a renewed purpose, and unexpected fame.

Then the crime of the century happens in Delphine, Idaho, with the shocking deaths of three college girls. The internet is buzzing with theories, and Jane and her group of misfit friends decide to travel to Delphine to get closer to the case. The author perfectly describes the mass hysteria, doxing, overeager talking heads thinly disguised as 'news' anchors, and the odd, giddy feeling of being part of something, even though it's heinous and violent. But the group finds some details that don't add up; worse, there is more wild speculation than there is actual evidence. Have they been lured here by someone far more intelligent than them all?

While this book may be marketed as a thriller, it's so much more than that. It's a stark portrayal of a grief like no other, and that's an adult child losing a parent. It's a story of how we immerse ourselves in things we can control while our world has stopped, yet the rest of the world keeps right on living. It's about wanting so desperately for our lives--and the lives of those we love--to mean something. This new novel from Ashley Winstead is perfect for anyone who loves true crime. It is perfectly told from the POV of college student turned dropout, Jane, who is learning how to cope with her father passing. She is not sure how to channel this energy, until she stumbles upon the Network, where she applies herself to help others solve cold cases. She jumps in with a local case and - with her attention to detail and willingness to take steps others wont - she is brought into a private, online group that soon becomes her close knit family outside of her own. This "family" becomes more well-known as they unearth details and spot errors in one of the largest murder cases the country has seen. As they discover more - and more murders come to light - they all come together onsite in Idaho to uncover the truth.

Absolutely loved this one - between the writing, the details (or lack there of) and how it was told through a singular POV - its a perfect true crime thriller.

Wow. This is my first book by this author, but it won’t be my last. Excellent story telling that had me on the edge of my seat the entire time.

Ashley Winstead has quickly become one of my favorite thriller authors! Her stories are so unique and intriguing. You'll recognize pieces of this one from real-life events, but her twists keep the entire story interesting. An excellent read.

This book blew me away. I went into it blind just trusting Ashley cause she has never let me down and WOW. I will proudly state that I think this is her best work yet. From start to finish this book had me so gripped. I mean, the first page alone is such a hook. But for me, it's the way it's written that had me wanting to ignore my life to just binge it. I can't even really put into words exactly how it's written. But Ashley puts enough detail in there to make it seem like a nonfiction tell-all book full of secrets and reveals but then leaves just enough out that you can't put it down. I had to get to the bottom of it all. I really had no idea what was going on or where this could possibly go other than the knowledge it was going to be huge. And my goodness, it was. I'm still not sure this didnt actually happen. The true crime elements just make it seem like an actual event. Man, I just loved it so much. The style, the voice, the twists and turns. Just all around so damn good.

Ashley, I'm so proud of you and so honored I got to read this early! Thinking back to the lives we done together, I would absolutely lose it to do another and pick your brain about this book cause WOW!

THIS BOOK WAS BURY ME was an enthralling read from beginning to end and truly swept me away, which few books do. The action was non-stop and the characters so richly detailed, written with a perfect balance between tension and emotion. I’ve. enjoyed this author’s previous books but this one far surpassed the previous and left me excited for what’s to come next.

**5-Star Review: A Gripping, Unputdownable Thriller**

Ashley Winstead’s *This Book Will Bury Me* is a chilling, compulsive read that hooks you from the start. After her father’s death, college student Jane Sharp dives into the world of online amateur sleuths. When three shocking murders occur in Delphine, Idaho, Jane and her friends race to solve the case. But as they dig deeper, they realize the killer may be more dangerous than anyone imagined.

Told in a “tell-all” format a year after the events, Jane narrates the twists and turns that make this novel impossible to put down. The pacing is relentless, with every new clue pulling you further into the mystery. While there are unsettling moments—including off-page animal abuse—the suspense and action make this 400+ page book fly by.

Winstead’s character development, especially Jane’s emotional journey, adds depth to the fast-paced plot. Some details may remind readers of real-life crimes, but the novel stands on its own with unique twists.

This one is definitely for true crime fans!! Grief can play out in so many different ways and this was a fantastic take on one dealing with grief through obsession. My first Ashley Winstead, but certainly not my last!

This Book Will Bury Me is formatted as a book written by online crime sleuth Jane Sharp about her and her amateur detective friends’ investigation into a series of cases that seems to be inspired by a combination of the Monroe, Idaho murders and Ted Bundy’s Florida State University killings. Throughout the book, Jane is also grappling with the sudden death of her father, and conducting an internet investigation (including reading some charming Star Trek fan fiction!) to try to understand who he really was.

This was a compulsively-readable thriller, and I flew through it in under 24 hours. I definitely found one major plot point predictable, but that didn’t detract from my enjoyment. I was still on the edge of my seat until the very end, waiting to see how the rest of the story shook out, and I was really satisfied by the ending.

I also found the sections about Jane dealing with her grief over her father’s death very touching. There’s a real human element to this book that I sometimes find missing in certain thrillers. Jane and her friends felt like real flesh-and-blood people to me. I love thrillers, and rate them four stars very frequently. It’s rare, though, that a thriller is a five-star book for me, but this one was; more than the twists and turns, it was the depiction of grief and family and friendship that won me over.

Honestly, what is better than reading and loving a book by a new-to-you author and realizing that you get to read through their backlist? The first thing I did when I finished the book was to order two of her previous books! Can’t wait to read more!

After losing her father, Jane takes to true crime forums- partly a distraction and partly to right pasts wrongs- in a way to help victims in a way she was unable to help her father. She is quickly sucked into and addicted to the true crime world. Then, she gets invited to join an elite group of four other web sleuths who are the best at what they do. Following cases of college students who have been killed, Jane and her new crime-solving family are determined to find who committed these killings while the police seemingly remain clueless.

I absolutely devoured this book. The opening completely sucked me in and I was hooked. When I wasn’t reading it, I found myself thinking about it and wondering what would happen next. Winstead is an amazing writer and did such a great job telling this story. She did so well, that I found myself googling whether any of these victims or characters were real. I read so many books where an amateur is trying to investigate a crime. It’s redundant normally, and that is not at all what I felt while reading this book. Here, Winstead broke us readers into the web sleuths of the dark web, made us love them, and then tore our hearts out. Our family of sleuths were well-respected and accepted to consult with the FBI, which gave the reader a reason for why they were searching so hard for answers. Jane’s search to do something right to almost avenge her father’s death pulls at the readers heartstrings. I felt myself so drawn to Jane as a strong willed young woman and was rooting for her until the last page.

If you enjoyed Bright Young Women by Jessica Knoll, you will love this book.

Good trigger warnings, death of a parent was explored way more in depth than I expected it to be and was definitely hard to read. But it became such a force throughout the book and explained why Jane did the things that she did.

The annotations are such a fun addition to this book, though sometimes they were hard to follow on kindle. I imagine a physical book would read much easier when you can just turn a few pages to the end of the chapter.
