Katrina, a grieving widow goes back to her hometown after the passing of her grandmother. For a year she has used AI technology from her company to connect with her deceased husband and pretend he’s still alive. She talks to him daily for comfort and advice. One day, she asks an unexpected question on a whim, and he states” I think I was murdered “.
Katrina relies on an old friend, Seb, to help her chase down the truth. There are elements of mystery, murder, espionage, betrayal and romance. This book has it all, maybe too much. Seb was my favorite character.
The characters were so well developed and the plot was fresh and current.

The audio book was so well done! The narrator Karen Peakes, did a phenomenal job and really enhanced the experience, by giving each character a voice. I think the audiobook added a relatable element of suspense with the narration that made the story just come more alive.

This book deals with grief, death, love, mourning and moving on. The main character, Katrina Berg, turns too an advanced AI chatbot to stay in touch with her deceased husband. A year ago, Katrina’s world was satisfying. She and her husband deeply loved each other. She was very successful and wealthy. Her husband, Jason, died in a car crash. She was the general counsel at Talk Inc., a company that has created a sophisticated AI app. With permission from the company’s CTO, Katrina downloaded every piece of data she could find from Jason, pictures, emails, and social media backups. She trained the AI app to emulate Jason. The result was being able to chat with Jason every day. The chatbot even managed to pick up grammar and words that Jason would use. At times she could pretend he hadn’t died. The chatbot took over her life. She felt better having the Chatbot, but she also knew she wasn’t working through her grief.
The company had problems. The CEO David Liang disappears, the FBI is investigating the company for fraud. The CEO is charged, the FBI locks her out of her office.
She receives information that her grandmother, Frida Berg (Bestemor) is very ill, Katrina rushed from Silicon Valley, but Bestemor passed away before she arrived. During the funeral Katrina sees many people from her past. It had been years since she saw Seb Wallace. She finds herself attracted to Seb. His father remembers seeing a car speeding across his land. Katrina is suspicious. One day she asks the chatbot to tell her something she didn’t know; the answer sent her into a tailspin, “I think I was murdered.”
This is the first book I have read where AI is one of the main characters. Katrina is the main character. She pulls at the heart strings. She is grieving the loss of her husband and turns to AI. While it may seem romantic and sweet, I see it as dangerous. Katrina could not move on because of the AI; she became dependent on the AI. The plot of this book is fascinating. I enjoyed the romance; it is a slow burn. This book starts out slowly and then the excitement builds. Kudos to the authors Colleen Coble and Rick Acker.

I Think I Was Murdered was such a fun read, blending mystery, sci fi and a dash of romance.

The central thread around AI made for an intriguing premise, playing off some of the ethical and technical elements to create suspense and sinister undertones. The characters were well fleshed out, and the themes of grief and moving on were well integrated in the story. I particularly enjoyed the development of Katrina and Sebs relationship. The Norwegian themed town was a surprise, but added such a warm and cosy feel which perfectly balanced the thrills and suspense.

The narration was well paced, and really brought the characters to life. I raced through the audiobook in one day, and really felt transported into the world of the story. The authors note at the end was also really interesting.

I’d highly recommend for anyone looking for an engrossing and enjoyable read.

She is amazed at how well it works. Even the bot's syntax and words sound like Jason's. There are times when she imagines he is right beside her and isn't really dead. While she knows it's slowing her grief recovery, she can't stop pretending.


During a particularly bad day, she taps out: Tell me something I don't know. After several moments of blinking and freezing, the reply flashes rapidly onto the screen: I think I have been murdered.



Discouraged, Katrina returns to her cozy Norwegian-flavored hometown in the redwoods of Northern California, where she enlists the help of longtime acquaintance Seb Wallace to discover what happened. They must navigate complicated paths of grief, family dynamics, and second chances, as well as the complex questions of how much control technology has over them. Both of them hadn't imagined how difficult it would be to survive long enough to accomplish that.

I give I Think I Was Murdered five out of five stars!

It was only a matter of time until AI made it into a novel and this was a great way to bring it in.

Katrina is mourning her husband, who passed in an accident a year ago and to help cope with his passing, she's talking to an AI version of him in an app, but her life turns upside down again when the AI Jason tells her he thinks he was murdered.

The audio of this was fantastic. The narrator did a fabulous job.

I very, very much enjoyed the story, I was desperate to get to the end and just when I think everything is safe and finished, the next twist comes. Absolutely fantastic.
I will definitely be seeking out other books from this author.

I Think I Was Murdered by Colleen Coble and Rick Acker is a thriller that's unafraid of modern technology. With elements of AI, bitcoin, and blockchain included as major plot drivers, the read somehow doesn't feel too tech-heavy for a reader who isn't completely on the up-and-up with these emerging technologies (like me). It maintains its balance with the incorporation of the very organic realm of relationships, family, and friendship.

The company Katrina works for in Silicon Valley is beta testing a new AI system, and she's fed in all her recently dead-husband's electronic records in to test it (but really as a coping tool as she grieves his unexpected death). Texting the program is really communicating with him. He even sends her photographs of their memories. One day she asks him to tell her something she doesn't know. "I think I was murdered," he tells her. He died in a car accident, so this is the last thing she ever expected.

Meanwhile, her grandmother died, so Katrina has come back to her hometown, inherited her family's restaurant, and reconnected with an old friend. Her Silicon Valley career is in shambles and being investigated, and it turns out her husband may have left something behind for her. It turns into a race against time for her to find before whoever killed him for it.

I can't find anything really to fault in this novel. I thought it was done incredibly well. It managed to surprise me a few times, while I was also able to anticipate a few twists and feel that sense of self-satisfaction, too. There are plenty of plotlines to keep us busy, and all of them play into the main story in some way by the end. There is plenty to capture your interest as a reader, and the story felt very robust.

I was provided with an advanced listening copy of this book by the publisher and netgalley. The audio narration is also very good, if you're an audiobook listener like me.

On the scale of wimp to true crime fanatic, I am way down on the wimpy side, and though there are moments of violence included in this book, it never gave me that haunting anxiety feeling as I read. I always like to know where thrillers end up on that spectrum because you can't unread stuff! That's not to say it didn't keep me on the edge of my seat-just that I didn't pee my pants all the way through. ha.

I had no idea that Coleen Coble was a Christian author. I loved that this book kept you on your toes and use modern technology in the storyline. I also love how she can show Romance and affection without being overly graphic. It was refreshing. A book that should be added to your TBR list.

I Think I Was Murdered is an intriguing and suspenseful read! Straight from the beginning I was hooked! Katrina has recently lost her husband and is struggling with her grief. A bot programmed to answer her questions as her dead husband leads her to the truth that he was murdered. Teaming up with the handsome Seb, she unlocks the truth about what happened. I highly enjoyed this book! The action and mystery was great as well as the subtle and slow burn of the couple. The ending took me by surprise! I would highly recommend this book! I am a huge Colleen Coble fan, always drop what I'm doing to start any of her new books. This was a first for me - Coble writing with another author, Rick Acker. I wasn't sure what to think, but hey, it still was Colleen Coble, so it had to be good, right??
Yes! I think I was murdered is right on trend with the world of AI, bitcoins all the new ways the tech world is taking over and everything you love about a Coble read was there too.
Katrina, a grieving young widow has her whole world turned upside down from every area of her life and through the help of a close friend, she is able to continue to communicate with her deceased husband, Jason. During one of these "talks" he tells Katrina that he thinks he was murdered and from there, her world turns into a roller coaster of a ride. With the help of a childhood friend, she finds the answers she was searching for and could her heart be open to love again?

Katrina lost her husband a year ago, she and her husband had developed an AI chat bot. When Jason passed she started to the AI chat bot as if it was Jason. One day she got a strange message from the AI chat bot.

Later going to her childhood town gathering her thoughts and suspicions. Was her husband murdered or is she going crazy believing the AI chat bot.

This book is an interesting look into AI and our future. Katrina is a head of a company's AI chatbot. Her husband dies in a car accident and Katrina is grieving and has used algorithms to still "talk" to Jason. Things fall apart at her business with the CEO disappearing and the FBI investigating. Katrina starts getting messages from "Jason" that make her believe he may have been killed. Katrina has to return home after her beloved grandmother passes away. Katrina is determined to find out what really happened to Jason. This was a great read.

I loved this book! Katrina and Seb were great characters and I appreciated how their relationship changed throughout the book. I thought the storyline was fascinating, especially with the involvement of AI! That definitely brought a bit of a unique twist to the plot. Overall, I would absolutely recommend this book!

Let me just say, it's even better the second time through!
The audio narration by Karen Peakes is excellent.

The audio of this one was so well done! There was just enough creepy to ramp up the suspense in the story.

Katrina Foster works for Talk, Inc., creator of one of the premier chatbots in the AI world. Losing her husband to an accident threw her life into turmoil, but when her friend offers to upload all of her husband's texts and conversations to the Beta version of a new interactive chatbot, it feels like she's gotten him back. She texts the chatbot and her husband, Jason, answers - or does he? The answers sound like ones he'd give, but when she asks him about the day he died, he says, "I think I was murdered." The more she investigates, the more sure she becomes that he really was murdered. Inheriting her grandmother's cafe, she returns to her Norwegian-ancestry hometown, and enlists restaurateur Seb Wallace to help her figure out what happened.

Seb Wallace fell for Katrina Foster in his early teens when she was the only kid in school who was ever kind to him. He lost touch before graduation when her ex-boyfriend broke his nose for taking her to prom. Nearly 20 years has only made her more beautiful but he sees the torment in her eyes. Colleen Coble and Rick Acker make a dynamic writing duo! This is the second book I've read by this pair, and both were edge-of-the-seat, pulse-pounding thrill rides! The creepiness of the chatbot answering Katrina as if her husband still lived within her phone sent chills every time she asked it a question. Readers who are looking for their next suspense novel need to run out and pick this one up. It gets all the stars from me!

I read the book 5th listened again to this narrator who did a superb job of telling this story.

The talented team of Coleen Coble and Rick Acker have created a fascinating story encompassing AI, chatbots, and Bitcoin. I knew these technologies by name only and enjoyed learning how they could be incorporated and affect modern day life.

Structural engineer,Jason Foster had searched for the mythical, most likely fictitious, Satoshi eggs for over a decade. Then he found it and now he’s fearful for his life. Strangely the very valuable Satoshi egg looks simply like a faded, plastic Easter egg, but inside is a USB drive with valuable information to those hunting for treasures and are frantic to find it. Some desperate enough to kill.

Jason’s fears were merited because he has died in what appears to be an innocent car accident during heavy fog, leaving behind his beloved wife, Katrina. Since her husband’s death, she has become obsessed with chatbots, where she has combined all her husband’s former messages and his social media information into an app. Talking to Jason’s chatbot voice gives her the impression she is still in communication with him using her phone app Talk. While conversing with her deceased husband’s, Jason-like voice, he announces “I think I was murdered.”

Katrina, an attorney, and her best friend, Liz, the Chief Technology Officer, work at Talk, Inc., a tech company in Palo Alto, with a unique AI app. And here’s another strange occurrence… CEO of the company, who also was the boyfriend of Liz, appears to have vanished. He’s not been heard from nor is he responding to any phone calls. The FBI is now looking into their business dealings.

I Think I Was murdered is a fast-paced, action-packed story that includes many likable and relatable characters, although some that prompted me to question their true character.

Katrina is left to examine the intricate clues Jason left behind that includes the code for $30 million dollars of Bitcoin.

Get ready for many unexpected twists and turns to this captivating story. I defy you to guess the shocking conclusion of this most fascinating story.

This theiller is also of the Christian genre where Christian ideas are aptly placed throughout the many conflicts. The authors demonstrate how a persons of faith use their relationship with God to help them in difficult situations.

I highly recommend this thrilling adventure which is a smart read encompassing rich vocabulary and Norwegian culture.

Katrina is a young widow who has used her connections in the technology world to get an AI bot to communicate with her as her deceased husband. But when he tells her he thinks he was murdered, things start getting a bit weird and scary.

I’ve read quite a few of Coble’s books and though I’m not crazy about her romances (nothing against her writing, that’s just not my cup of tea) I have really enjoyed her suspense books. It’s hard to compare this with her others because it’s been a while since I’ve read them but it’s safe to say that for me, this was one of my favorites. There was a lot of action and a big red herring and just enough romance to spice things up a bit. I knew right away who the killer was, from the moment that person is introduced, but that didn’t ruin anything (who doesn’t enjoy feeling a *bit* smug when the mask comes off and you find out you were right all along?)

This book was also pretty thought-provoking. What would you do if AI could bring back your loved one? Was it good for Katrina, or not? Did it keep her from moving on? If so, so what? Interesting scenario to think about!


For anyone who enjoys romantic suspense I think this book is well worth checking out.

My second book by Colleen Coble and Rick Acker and will not be my last! Love the way these two write together. Solid plot, characters, and writing style. As Christian writers, the prose are kept suitable for general audiences including teens. Great choice for a book club. This book kept me guessing until the very end.
I listened to the audiobook and the narration was great. Volume, speed, and inflection were all exceptional.

Really great, clean mystery with romance by one of my favorite Christian authors, Colleen Coble along with Rick Acker. This is their second book together and I think I liked it even more than What They Hide. The AI aspect was pretty interesting to me and I can see how one can get addicted to the communication with someone who has passed through the app Katrina had. I loved watching her and Seb's relationship grow and it was fun to try to figure out who killed her husband.

Once again, Karen Peakes is a wonderful narrator. I was able to read/listen to this book in 2 afternoons and I enjoyed every minute of it.

Colleen Coble and Rick Acker have done it again! This is a great collaboration that has resulted in a story that combines technology (AI in this case) and interpersonal drama and mystery in a nice little package. The story begins with Katrina, a lawyer for a tech startup, dealing with multiple crises: the company founders have seemingly embezzled all of the assets, her beloved grandmother is dying, and she's still reeling from her husband's death in a car accident (which turns out to be suspicious). She goes to her hometown (a small northern CA town) for the funeral and encounters a childhood friend, Seb, who is the owner of a successful upscale restaurant. Throughout the story, he assists Katrina in uncovering the mysteries of her husband's death, all while also dealing with his ill father and a newly-discovered half brother. This book combines mystery, romance and technology in a nice package that you'll want to follow til the end. I really enjoyed listening to it and look forward to the next book from these authors.

I Think I Was Murdered is written by the dynamic duo of Colleen Coble and Rick Acker. This edge of your seat thriller had me riveted from the very beginning. The concept for this book is very relevant in the age of artifical intelligence. Honestly, with the way technology evolves, this may not be that futuristic at all. When a young widow keeps a bot on her phone that has her dead husband's voice on it, she asks it to tell her something she doesn't know. It answers by saying he thinks he was murdered. With the help of an old friend, who happens to be a handsome restaurateur, they look for answers. Action, suspense and romance ensues.
I listened to this nail-biting thriller and the narrator was spot on. She was perfect for the performance. My husband listened to it with me and he agrees wholeheartedly. 5 stars!!

The narrator can make such a difference when it comes to audiobooks and this narrator did a great job!
Katrina Berg lost her husband Jason in a horrible car accident. And now her grandma has passed away, her company went under, and she is under scrutiny by the FBI. How could it possibly get worse? But it somehow does.
Katrina worked for an emerging AI chatbot company and as a test, they uploaded all electronic files, texts, emails, pictures etc. of her late husband Jason's. So now she can talk to "Jason." The chatbot then claims that it was murdered making Katrina question if Jason's death really was an accident.
As she looks into it more, more danger comes her way. Before long she has recruited an old friend from high school, Sebastian Wallace into helping her find clues and discover what really happened to Jason.

This book was so interesting and whole concept of the chatbot was quite fascinating. The book was full action and mystery and some turns that I did not see coming!!
Seriously give this book a listen!

Colleen Coble does it again! There’s a reason she’s my favorite author in this genre - she never disappoints!

The idea of this story was so fun with the AI program and Katrina being able to communicate with her husband who passed away. It kept me on my toes wondering what he would reveal to her next.

I played the guessing game the whole book, and when the big surprise was revealed, I was shocked! I did not see it coming at all! And the surprises didn’t end with the who…

Katrina handled everything so well - her grief was believable and relatable, but I’m so happy she slowly learned to open her heart to Seb.

I will forever read anything Colleen Coble writes and can’t wait for her upcoming books!

This one touched on a little bit of EVERYTHING!!!

Close Knit Family as well as Family Drama and feelings of being abandoned.
Love and Hope. Love and Despair. Love and Loss. Love and Light... and that butterfly feeling...
Best of Friends. Worst of Friends. Changing friends over time. Teenagers to Adults...
Established Families with Means and Money, and Families Falling Apart...

And did I mention the AI concept?
There's a chatbot (a what??) Look it up! They actually exist!!!

Catrina is a well known, well paid, lawyer for an AI establishment/company.
Her life was perfect...Until....

One day her beloved husband Jason is killed in a fiery car crash in a hairpin turn. She's devastated.
But it gets worse... Her job is placed on hold as the entire office is investigated as one of the key players seemed to have a money scheme going... (Mind you this is all in the first few minutes of the book!!) 😮🫣😩

Shortly afterwards her dear Grandma dies, and now she is totally wrecked. She returns home to her small town near the woods and is drawn in by all the memories of her family and especially her Grandma, as well as her Grandma's restaurant...that she has now inherited.

Throw in that a local boy who had a schoolboy crush on her now owns one of the Top Restaurants in the area (which is also Michelin rated!)...and he was a big fan of her deceased Grandma, and you have quite the story.

Now, add in the chatbot that takes info from all her chats, texts, emails, pix etc...that she and her husband shared, and when she talks to it, she feels like she's talking to Jason. And then she asks it 'what happened the day you died?' and it responds "I think I was murdered!" Wait. What????? 😮😮

This one had my heart pumping and on the edge of my seat the whole time! Not to mention the biting of the nails, nausea, etc, etc....

AND, at first I thought it was this one...and then that one...and I was WRONG EVERY TIME! Seriously, not even close! My mouth was HANGING open!!!

Okay I LOVED this, really well done mystery and the way it’s figured out is incredible, but not only is it an incredibly well thought out and written interesting mystery, there’s a beautiful romance. I loveeee seb. I’m going to be grabbing myself a physical copy! I recommend.

An amazing thriller that kept me hooked! Colleen Coble and Rick Acker are my favorite duo suspense authors. It's amazing how far AI has gone and the twists it brought to the case was outstanding.

This book was different in a good way. Katrina is grieving the sudden loss of her husband and not well. She’s communicating with a chat bot that has all her husband’s online info. It chats like he would. And then one day he says I think I was murdered, and hunt begins to see if he was.
I really enjoyed the characters in this book, although Katrina’s obsession with the chat bot got a bit annoying. At the same time, I’m not sure I wouldn’t have done the same if the technology was available when I lost someone.
This book was extremely well written and I look forward to more offerings from this duo.

Ok wow. I only requested a review copy of this book because it was one of the few Christian audiobooks available. I loved it so much more than I expected! The cover made me think it was going to be all tech-y and suspenseful. While it does have an AI aspect to it and plenty of suspense, it also has the cozy small town vibes I love. I also loved learning about the influence of Norwegian traditions in Katrina’s life. And! The small town is on the coast of Northern California, a beautiful area I’m very familiar with. Ok, enough with the fangirling. I guess you want to know what it’s about.

Katrina’s husband passed away a year before in a car accident. She’s able to continue “talking to him” through an AI chatbot. Of course it’s not really him, just an app that has access to every message he ever sent. During a conversation with the chatbot she finds out he was actually murdered. This book follows the story of her following clues to find out exactly how and why his death happened. She also goes back to the small town where she was raised and reconnects with an old friend who’s able to help her.

A few of my favorite things…
-the audiobook narrator did a great job!
-the goat on the roof of the Norwegian restaurant
-Northern California scenery
-family reconnecting
-the message about doing what’s right even when it’s hard

I didn’t care for…
-one of the characters, but the way it ended I liked

-one of the main characters is pregnant and we realize she’s had a history of sleeping around

Bread this book I realized that the storyline in this book is actually something that could definitely happen in today’s world! This book kept me highly intrigued with all of the AI and human helpers that are available today!

I definitely recommend this book, not only for the suspense, but for the glimpse of what right at our fingertips.

Wow, my first Colleen Coble book, and it blew my expectations out of the water! I listened on audio, and I honestly couldn’t stop. I was fascinated by the incorporation of AI—something I don’t often see in books—especially as it felt so natural and real. Katrina, a rising star in an AI start-up, faces her world unraveling: her husband dies in a crash, her CEO is indicted, and, as the company’s legal counsel, she’s left fielding some tough questions from the Feds. But the real twist? When the AI chatbot, loaded with her husband’s past communications, hints he may have been murdered, she returns to her hometown, teaming up with a local restauranteur to uncover the truth. Colleen Coble and Rick’s collaboration made the story even more gripping—Coble’s skill for weaving suspenseful, faith-filled mysteries paired with Rick’s compelling narration brought each twist to life. Their storytelling abilities kept me completely hooked, and I’m so excited to dive into their backlist!

I think I was Murdered by Colleen Coble and Rick Acker, was a book so full of intrigue and mystery, it was hard to put down. I fell in love with Katrina, and found myself so drawn into her story, they felt like friends. Highly recommend this book!

I have to say I really enjoyed this one! This book had a little bit of everything - mystery, thrills, and romance. There were many twists and turns in this book, and I think the undertone of romance present told a really beautiful story. There was so much happening here, and I was initially intrigued by the AI element (FMC messages her dead husband through an AI bot which had his entire social media/cellphone uploaded into it so it really sounded like him- until one day the bot told FMC that he thinks he was murdered) but I stayed for the beautiful romance which so masterfully incorporated loss, grief, longing, childhood friendship, and this absolutely gripping mystery/thriller element.

I could honestly say I think this would make a pretty cool movie.

This was a fun mind trip to take. To think how AI can and has taken over our lives is surreal. I find it rare for not only one, but two authors to be able to write characters that are not repetitive and annoying. The book started fast paced and kept me interested throughout. Even i didn't see the twist coming!

I LOVED this book. The creative mix of AI and Bitcoin made the book feel relevant in today's society, with enough fanatical details to keep me lost in the wonderful world of fiction. I really enjoyed the spotlight on loss and handling grief, and also the growth in the main character throughout the story. She was someone you could root for, and be engaged with, while also seeing areas she could grow.

I loved the emotional maturity of the male main character. He handled his past and his family with the kind of incredible manliness that had me swooning.

I didn't really like the love triangle, especially the way it ended and the fact that it didn't seem better one way or the other. Some of the plot twists came so late in the novel that I felt it didn't really get time to be explored, but all in all, it was an incredible book with such a creative premise that I couldn't put it down.

I can't wait to read more from them.

I Think I Was Murdered by Colleen Coble was an interesting ride through some of our newer technology, AI to be specific. I thought the introduction of it was fascintating and yet disturbing, as that part is based off of true events, though the story line itself is fictional. Katrina is in love with her amazing life. Married to a wonderful man, working at a job she loves, until it all falls apart when her husband passes in a vehicle accident and she's under investigation at her business. Her grandmother passes and leaves her the familys beloved restaurant that's been in the family for over fifty years, but Katrina isn't really interested in living out her grandmothers dream when she's having huge success living out her own. Enter in AI, as it's part of Katrina's job, as she inputs all of her husbands texts, voicemails, emails, online footprint, to develop a weird but relatable way of keeping in touch with her beloved after his passing, only for one day that the chatbot tells her something she doesn't know...."I think I was murdered"....which sets off a whole slew of events that keeps the reader interested and engaged in a race to find out what in the world is going on....You have to read it for yourself!
I listened to the audiobook narrated by Karen Peakes, which was easy to listen to and kept me engaged throughout the storyline. Job well done!

This book was GREAT! I couldn't put it down. It was a excited, unique, different story. I didn't figure it out until the very end. Super great thriller that will make you want to keep going on the chase. Plus a cute love story in it as a bonus. LOL Also the story is set in December. Perfect timing!

I had never read Colleen Coble so this was a first for me. The narrator was phenomenal and the story line was riveting and kept me on the edge of my seat. The concept of AI working for us as well as being able to be weaponized against us was fascinating. I am eager to explore more of Coble and Acker's works after this book. Highly recommend.
