If a poetry book isn’t your style then you’re missing out because this was an amazing introduction to who Judy Collins is.

The dedication was where I got hooked. “To my ancestors who made the paths on which I travel. The ones who dreamed the dreams that I would live.”

Each poem was more heartbreaking than the first whilst holding ground on their own. None of them were the same, especially with the different events Collins writes about. I felt as if I was apart of every single one.

I want to read this over and over again until I die because I wonder if it’s “as far a song can speak.”

Judy Collins is an exemplary author whose words are profoundly resonating and impactful. Through her ability to instill a sense of belongingness and understanding, Judy has conjured a pathway that bridges the gap between past and present. Weaving together a beautiful tapestry of flaws and strengths as well as the eloquent nature of human behaviours in regards to empathy and realisations, this poetry collection offers an immersive reading experience that is unique and magical at the same time.

The confirming themes of love, loss, regrets and redemption are well written and explore the multi- dimensions of emotional vulnerabilities and complexities that flow like the polarization of sentiments. Her work is an essential read for anybody seeking to grasp the reality and roots of present moments becoming memories for the future.

This was my first book from Judy Collins and now that I have experienced her words, I will be reading other books from her.

Poem collection by Judy Collins. These poems are more like a memoir of her life. Some are very personal. Some are not so much. Some are very political.

This book is definitely not for everyone. You have to enjoy reading poems and memoirs to enjoy this one. I would also recommend to share her political views but I don’t think that’s an issue since I don’t think anyone from opposite political views would pick up this book anyways. I’m not right person to deep analyze poems but I enjoy reading them and this one had the memoir aspect too that made some of the poems simply amazing.

Judy Collins really came at the perfect time with exactly what I needed.

It's no secret I tend to be very critical when it comes to poetry collections. Most of the time, if we go back on what I dislike so often, there are complaints about thoughts being put into a certain format and then calling it a poem just because.
This really felt like what I'm looking for when picking up a poetry collection.
I was full of feeling, beautiful writing, lines that made me stop and put it down just to be able to process them. I highlighted many verses and full poems as well. This is what I was looking for; someone with the ability to tell me about something mundane while showing me all the ways it is actually so fascinating.

I often joke about not wanting to read a random person's diary, but I'd read Judy's.
