Happily had served as a tourist spot by word of mouth. But real things were about to happen. Violet and her best friends had stashed away a good amount of their sales of restored and repurposed items. The more popular their recycling business became, the more requests for larger pieces they were getting. Violet and her best friends owned Happily On Your Shelf. Violet had to make her presentation to secure the building they wanted for their business. Jacob held the door open and stood in the entry as Jacob was partners with the man-Hank and Eriksen- who owned the building. Jacob hated how simply looking at Violet sent his nerves tingling under his skin. He shouldn’t care about her/ Violet had some good moments with Jacob like she was struck by lightning but that was in the past. Violet wanted to walk away as she wondered what Jacob was doing there. She couldn’t even think with Jacob standing there and staring at her. He was supposed to be somewhere else. That was the choice he made several years ago when he deserted her. In her eyes. A long time ago , she had seen her and Jacob together forever. Violet had been pregnant for twins when Jacob deserted her several years ago and she had only been seventeen. She had called Jacob at least a hundred times and left voicemails to tell him she was pregnant but no calls or even texts back. Than one day a guy answered the phone, Jacob had changed his number. Violet had pushed Jacob and he fell out his window and lost one of his eyes after the fall. Jacob had been begging Violet to get away from her emotionally abusive mother and shortly after he had left. Violet’s mother had always hated Jacob. Before the accident Violet had fond memories of and his kindness. His patience and sweet nature. Getting out from under her mother had done Violet a world of good. Jacob knew Violet had married three months after Jacon wondered if Violet had been sleeping with her man already while calling Jacob non-stop. she he left but the man had passed away. It had been nearly twelve years since Jacob had left. Hank came to the meeting and Jacob could see he’d be pushing for this business. Jacob felt he needed a drink- several in fact. Hank was brilliant when it came to business and he was sold on renting the building to Violet and her friends. Hank was just about the wealthiest man Violet knew. Violet had twins by Jacob. She had to get over the shock of seeing Jacob again. Get over the shock of him being back in town again.
I loved this second chance at romance book. 9I hated Violet's mother, such a cruel woman. She didn’t deserve to be called mother she was evil. This had my attention from the start and kept it until the end of this book. I didn’t want to put this down. This is a Ruprenzal type read with a ore modern twist. Always did like my fairy tales. I loved the plot and pace. I felt bad how hurt both Jacob and Violet were. I did choke up at times while reading this. I loved the characters and the ins and outs of this book and I highly recommend it.
