Beautiful patterns, with a lovely winter white theme. There are a variety of pattern difficulties.
I didn't find this book inspiring. Pretty simple knits and the draw seems to be that they are in white. Not impressed.
This title provided by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Margeau Blanc is a well written book of basic knitting patterns, all in white. The pictures are beautiful, and the choice of all white really highlights the stitch patterns. This book would be a great addition to any knitter's library.
Winter white is the theme of this knitting pattern book. 14 patterns for hats, shawls, sweaters and a cowl. The book uses written patterns and is suitable for anyone who can do a cable. None of the patterns is particularly unusual and I wish that the models had smiled more often instead of looking as if they had just swallowed a snowball.
I received a review copy of "Margeau Blanc: A New Perspective on Winter White Knits" by Margeau Soboti (Dover) through NetGalley.com.
This is a very good and clear book full of basic patterns suitable for the beginner onwards. I don't really see why they are all in white- (that may just be me!). The instructions are clear, with added diagrams and measurements.
It would make a good addition to anyone's knitting library, and would also be a good supply of plain patterns for any one wishing to add their own motifs .

After watching the inaugural and all the women wearing white I had wanted to read this book.
Patterns are simple yet elegant. My favorite is a beannie type hat where crown is worked in special design.
Not all the pictures showed properly for me on my tablet but I was able to understand what was being shown.
Think I like the accessories more than the sweater but those are really nice also.
Each pattern starts out with color photo and a summary of the item.
Skill level, yarn used, needles and notion along with measurements and gauge.
Stitch glossary is enclosed for each pattern and then the directions, row by row-not charted directions.
Easy to understand and I do not think anybody will have a problem making any of these as the details are so descriptive.
I did not care for the sweaters hanging on a tree branch as they didn't just hang right. It does show how the item will look but I'd rather see a model wearing them.
Like that there are so many different methods for neck and sleeves and even length of sweaters. So versatile.
Abbreviations are listed at the end. Something for everyone.

Good, clear schematics, easy to follow instructions. Unfortunately, the patterns themselves weren't my cup of tea, and I doubt I'll actually knit any of them. But flip it through - everybody's tastes are different (fortunately).
I found it an interesting concept to keep it all in white - it certainly means the designer cannot rely on different colourways to make the designs stand out from each other, but has to focus on the texture and structure instead. I'm not likely to knit many white things myself (picks up dirt too easily), but I did appreciate the way it made the stitch patterns stand out.
I'm not a fan of all if the patterns but overall I like the idea of the project. Patterns look easy to follow.
The book, in my opinion, is geared for intermediate or expert knitters. The designs are attractive and the pictures show them off nicely. I like that they're all fairly basic designs, although there is enough change in stitches to give variety. I know the white garments were the theme, but think they could have been improved with a little color. I especially liked the crew neck sweater because of the extended back hem. The reason I believe this is for knitters with experience is because most of the designs call for smaller needles and more stitches to the inch than a lot of books with basic designs. I appreciate being able to read and review this book.
