Nice variety of designs featured. The instructions are complete and the photography for troubleshooting possible problems that arise is helpful.

This book is not for beginners, amateur onward maybe. You have to know your chains and all the basics before reading this book. However there is some reminders at the back if you need some reminding. More importantly, this book does not teach you how to crochet. It tells you how you can calculate and measure your projects, basically it helps you plan your crochet work effectively.

The layout is simple, first the important things like doing a swatch, blocking and determining your yarn stuff. That is a good chapter for an amateur who hasn't learned a lot about projects. Then comes the calculations for different project and two examples, which is really cool. It shows that the author is experienced in crocheting beautiful items, and knows what will happen when you deviate.

This is a must-have for aspiring crochet designers. From yarn specifications through sizing, construction, and finishing, this is a comprehensive guide. Think of this book as instructions for writing good instructions. Beginning with scarves, this book works up to progressively more complex projects, giving the reader an inside look at the entire design process.

Pretty easy to understand. Useful reference. Makes me want to try to design something. Definitely start with a scarf.

Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for this advance review copy.

I read this book on the kindle, but I understand that in hard copy it is spiral bound, which is great for using when doing your projects. I find normal books really difficult to keep open whilst doing my crochet and I keep losing my place. The spiral bound spine of this book would mean that it can be left open and there are no awkward moments of trying to work out where in the pattern you were!

This is a lovely book with some lovely clear illustrations and pictures. It gives instructions, not only on how to make and design your own project but instructions for some of their own patterns as well. There are blank templates to use for when you are designing your own pattern and instructions on how to work these out. They do say in the book that you are welcome to photocopy the blank templates as long as they are for your own personal use. It is a US version and there is no alternative UK stitch compatibility, but I’m sure most UK Crocheters have experienced this before – just remember to change the sc to dc, dc to tr etc etc. – you know how it goes! There are also instructions and pictures for the different stitches used within the patterns.

It includes patterns and instructions to make your own patterns for scarves, cowls, hats, fingerless mitts, mittens, gloves and socks. The instructions are clear and easy to follow. For me, they are particularly useful for the glove patterns – I always found gloves tricky to follow and work out, but the clear instructions make it look a lot easier!

Well recommended for all you fellow Crocheters out there!

Sorry unable to read and review download only books as I only read on a kindle/kindle app. Which is a real shame because I know my 21 yr old daughter who loves crochet would have loved this book. She loves crochet yet is no so fond of set rigid patterns, and loves to create her own things to make and her own patterns as she goes along. She has only been crocheting since Dec 2015! and taught herself with a beginner scrochet book I bought with her along with a few crochet hooks and balls of wool.
