Some of the stories definitely made me smile. Most of them were quite entertaining, but not so outlandish that you would wonder about their authenticity. The art is quite clever, but I disliked that some of the stories were split up by them. All in all I would say that this would be perfect for a train ride or a quick pick me up.

Breaking Up Is Hard To Do...But You Could Have Done Better By Hilary Fitzgerald Campbell

This small volume was very disappointing because these stories lacked real depth. Most were about a page and a half and frankly could have been a magazine article. The cartoons were not even humorous. Most of the stories centered on elementary and middle school break ups, with just a few from college age. I was expecting some angst moving feelings that moved me as break ups are usually painful in life. I think this could have been so much better if it captured some adult break ups from long term relationships or marriages.

Thank you to Net Galley, Hillary Fitzgerald Campbell and Animal Media Books for the ARC in exchange for an honest and fair review.

This book was just okay for me. I might have just built it up in my head too much. The break-up stories featured were funny, sad, tragic, and all in between. This book features multiple stories and drawings, and while it wasn't my cup of tea, maybe it's yours.

Thank you to NetGalley for my ARC in exchange for an honest review.

A couple stories maybe made me crack a smile for it's absurdity, but for the most part the stories didn't leave a big impression for me. Some stories even made me bored, however, I did enjoy the illustrations that accompanied each story. It was a quick read and I didn't dislike it.

Breaking Up Is Hard To Do... But You Could've Done Better is a compilation of real-life break-up stories, each story accompanied by amusing illustrations that helps assuage the awkwardness and/or anguish associated with break-ups.

I found the compilations both weird and funny at the same time. I could understand some stories, but others I thought were so weird, it was a little hard to understand they were real, actual stories that happened to real people!. Kudos to Hilary Fitzgerald Campbell for finding humor within these stories through her illustrations.

Overall, they were certainly entertaining, and I finished reading the book in one sitting!

I received a copy of this novel from the Publisher via NetGalley, in exchange for an honest review.

This was kinda funny. And there were some amazing quotes.

He threw a Gameboy at my head stands out among them.

The stories are definitely relatable.

Some of the cartoons were hilarious and on point. But sometimes the cartoons over-explained the stories. It may have been funnier to just see the pictures. And maybe read the backstory if you wanted to.

But the Jesus cartoon was pretty damn funny.

This was a cute, quick read on a topic that many of us can relate to-- break-ups. The stories had me intrigued enough to read them all in one sitting! And the illustrations sprinkled throughout were the icing on the cake. I would have loved for the book to have included more stories, but I enjoyed nonetheless. I just felt like there could have been more of something.

I received a copy from NetGalley for an honest review. One hundred and fifty pages of funny break up stories exactly what I needed at the moment. Funny and light read.

2.5 out of 5 stars

I thought that the illustrations were very good. I giggled at a few of those but unfortunately I feel that the book was lacking a good flow, It seems like a reddit thread that has been published to me. I think I expected more from this. I just found one or two of the stories funny or even entertaining. I just wished I liked it more.

A cute little book. Good illustrations, and a blend of some funny and some kind of bland breakup stories.

A friend of mine recently let a guy go, it was only after a few dates, she wasn't feeling it - but he kept trying to get more info out of her about why. We started coming up with things to tell him to let him down easy and not so easy and then another friend suggested writing a book - funny enough I found this one a few days later, laughed my head off and then sent a cover shot to the friend. All that being said, I was excited to have found this and for some reason I thought it would be funnier. Maybe I was in the wrong mind-set.

The book is stories about break-ups and how bad they were with illustrations by Hilary Campbell. It all came about after a nasty break-up that she had and eventually she drew a picture and it made her laugh and she was hoping to do the same for others in the same situation. I think this is a great idea, if you are down, I think reading about other peoples misery and seeing these images would be uplifting. Sadly for me, in the place I am at in my life, it was only ok. A few of the stories made me laugh, and I think that says good things, but I was expecting it to be more over the top and that is completely my fault, not the book's fault.

If you are going through some sh*t, this book would be a great read, it is entertaining and it might even make you feel better. If everything seems ok, it might be a bit of a downer - and that is how I felt about it.

The stories were too short to be particularly impactful humorously or emotionally. The author's contribution, the drawings, didn't add much to the stories. There were a few good ones, but I was mildly bored through most of it.

A lovely funny book with loads of stories about the end of relationships. Most of the stories are only a page or two and are accompanied by really good illustrations.

Before going to the therapist post breakup, consider reading this book first. The drawings are hilarious! The stories themselves are funny and the idea of how the drawings are drawn are very creative. It reminds you that you're not the only one dealing with a broken heart.

Sassy and occasionally bitter chicken soup for the soul. This breakup anthology is both relatable and cringe worthy. I did expect more illustrations, I thought that it would be more like a graphic novel, but instead it reads like a children's chapter books for adults. There is one page illustration for every story rather than a graphic novel /comic style depiction on each story. Overall it was a light fun read, but I expected more illustrations.

Amusing cartoons illustrating various ways people have ended romances. The drawings are clever and take the sting away from the insensitive ways people treat each other,

This is a short and quirky collection of various breakups people experienced. It was funny at times, sometimes a bit sad, relatable to anyone who experienced a bad breakup (don't we all), with cute illustrations for each story. All in all not that special, but I enjoyed reading it.

This book is amusing and surprisingly uplifting. Break ups can be awful, but there is often a funny side, and we survive. The drawings were cute too.

The stories were somewhat entertaining. It's a good concept, but I've read better stories on Thought Catalog.
