This is a read for fans of Sarah's Scribbles. Great little comics that are entertaining and funny.
Have you ever been to the Internet? If so, chances are you've seen one of Loryn Brantz's Jellybean Comics. They're everywhere for a reason: they're hilarious, spot-on, and a perfect description of my life. If you've ever wanted to tell your boss you couldn't come in because your bed's too warm, if you've ever felt like the chosen one when your cat sat on your lap, or if you've ever wanted to become a professional blanket burrito, then these comics are for you. Lady Stuff is a perfect pick-me-up if you're having a crappy day and need a good laugh.
I enjoyed this book a lot. So much, in fact, that I will get it for a friend.
It is a lovely, clever, and relateable piece of art that will make you smile a lot. I strongly recommend it.
I've been a fan of Loryn Brantz without realizing it for years. I've seen her illustrations everywhere, from Facebook to Buzzfeed. She always helps cast a comical light on everyday situations that have people of all ages and genders saying "Same."
The comics in this book are broken up into sections: grooming and habitat maintenance, life ambitions, mating habits, self-care and social conduct. I started out relating to a lot of the comics early in the book but then realised that I'd already seen all of the good ones on the internet and didn't really enjoy or relate to the rest. It's possible I'm too old for some of the humour and it would work better for women in their late teens or early 20's. It's a cute gift book but I wouldn't personally read it more than once.
I received an ARC from NetGalley (thank you very much to NetGalley and Andrews McMeel Publishing for the opportunity) in exchange for honest feedback.
I adore these comic strips, but unfortunately I was not able to properly download the ARC. I will definitely be buying a copy when it's officially released.
Another one in the wave of all these webcomics put together and published in book form and normally I don't have much of an issue with that but this just fell short.
Every comic after the first few felt like recycled material illustrated differently so any excitement/enjoyment I could have gotten from that just went away.
I've only seen a handful of Loryn Brantz's comics floating around the web, but this collection does a nice job at putting them in context. The art could use a little refining, but the humor is spot-on, especially if you're someone who revels in the absurd -- if you are, Brantz's instructions for seducing a man are absolutely top-notch hilarity.
When I pick up a short comic collection like this I want to really feel like I've gotten my money's worth. I want it to be something I can flip through time and again and still enjoy it. I want to laugh and laugh out loud. I want it to be so good that I feel compelled to grab the nearest person to me and force them to look upon the hilarious panels with me, so in essence I read them all through twice the first time.
These are pretty lofty demands, but with the right author it's done and done every time. Loryn Brantz is one such author! Lady Stuff: Secrets to Being a Woman was a pure delight to read. This is a collection that, as a woman, I could very easily relate to. I constantly found myself choking out an "OMG YES!" or a "That's so me!"
So, it's with zero reservations that I recommend this humorous look at womanhood.
Thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for this great advanced review opportunity.

Okay, this was cute. It wasn't anything new and most of it was meh, but some of it made me laugh (well, snort, it takes a lot to make me laugh out loud, though) and I did take a picture of one image for future use (to send to my mom when I'm next on my period. Which might be TMI but hey, it's just true).
I thought I was going to rate this three stars, but the last 20/30 pages probably bumped it up to a four. As did the fact that the period panel said "not all women get periods," what also made me bump it was up the pitbull drawing of how people see pitbulls compared to how they really are. I'm not going to get into it, because it's something I'm super passionate about but - they're good dogs, but always ask first before petting dog (any dog, I've been warned not to pet tiny ones more then big ones).
Anyway, back on topic here. This was cute, fun. Reminded me of Hyberbole and a Half but lacked the serious notes, which is why it's not a five star, just cause nothing like hit me super hard and made me think 'me.' Though, I do like blanket cocoons. and sweatpants
This colorful comic is laugh at loud funny at many moments. Other moments left me wondering if some women actually do these things or if they are more for shock factor. I enjoyed my first dive in to Loryn Brantz, and I love how she uses her comic to highlight the humor, awkwardness, and beauty of being a lady.
5 stop telling my secret stars
This book is all amazing and relatable comic strips about what it is to be a woman. I am so glad I got a chance to read this. I took a few screen shots of the comics .. I say a few lets pretend I only screenshotted the below comics. each one is so hilarious in its own way.

I just want to start by saying that Laryn Brantz is my kind of people. She manages to capture modern life in such an honest and amusing way. I will admit to previously being a fan of her work on Buzzfeed - she manages to get the balance between humour and honesty just right. I don't want to give too much away (publication isn't for another 7 weeks or so) but the beauty section rivalled my own experiences (as a female who has tried all sorts of tutorials for eyeliner and brows and always ends up sneezing immediately after applying mascara). Her attention to the differences between cats and dogs is just one of those observations about life that make sense. What I will say is that Brantz and I eat from the same food groups, cheese and wine always a winner.
A series of cartoons about. . . well, you already know if you read the title.
Since this isn’t a story, it’s much easier to simply say there were a lot of hilarious moments here. This may be the funniest thing I’ve read all year. Some highlights:
The matching eyebrows (it literally made me laugh out loud).
“Pick a color” at the manicure place.
“My bed is warm.”
*Hugs sweatpants*
She lost me at “guac.”
“Summer cuddles”—not a name—is spot on.
How not to eat cookies.
Talking ice cream, no matter how cute, is friggin’ scary.
See, this is what I’ve been saying about garlic all along!
Sometimes when she’s in the blanket she looks like the cute little seal girl from Song of the Sea, but other times she looks like a nesting doll.
It’s all done in really simple drawings, but then this is about the humor, so it doesn’t matter.
4.5 pushed up to 5/5
Hilarious, relatable, and witty. Would recommend this book for everyone who wants to read something fast and funny.
I love these comics, Loryn Brantz seems to know exactly how I feel about procrastination, make up and sweatpants.
This book was great. I've seen snip-pits of this author's work before but never a compilation. Very enjoyable!
This is a funny book and as a woman I can definitely relate!! It is literally crammed full of little anecdotes that all females can relate to for one reason or another. I wasn't a huge fan of the ones about seducing a man but the rest of them were good, they weren't side splittingly funny but I did enjoy them and its something I'd consider getting for a friend or as a secret santa gift at christmas- 4 stars
This book was not as entertaining as I thought it would be and not as original as other similar works.
Overall I liked one comic, though another handful were ok, was grossed out by the series of comics in the middle of the book (of which one was only half coloured in). Worth the time as it was a quick read but there are other similar books I'd rather read.
