Fun and very relatable, this book was very easy and quick to read. A feel-good book.. 3.5*
First off, I love the illustrations in this book - they're simple but effective. They list all the things that I think every single woman can relate to if they're being honest with themselves.
It covers everything from socialising, romance and choosing food and sleep over either of the above. Things that I can totally relate to!
The best thing is that this book isn't just funny - it's so relateable that you have to wonder if there's a rule against sharing secret female information.
I enjoyed this fun graphic book, definitely some good ones in here that most lady's will totally relate to, and be able to see the humor in!
ILoryn Brantz is another comic artist I have been following via Instagram for a long time now! I love her works mostly because I just totally relate to them all the time!!
This book in particular was funny, but I felt like I had seen a number of the comics before online already via Instagram or maybe Buzzfeed. I was expecting all the works to be new, so that was a surprise. She also used some of the same comics more than once and simply changed the captions.
Overall though still funny, relatable, witty, and cute!
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for a copy of this book for an honest review.
I've been enjoying Loryn Brantz's work on Instagram for a few months now, so when I found out there was a whole book of this stuff, I wanted to get my hands on it. If you follow Brantz online, you've probably already seen most of the content contained in this book, but the good thing about Brantz's work is that you can read it over again and the smile won't leave your face. Anyone that loves fun toons about the perils of life (especially the perils of all things to do with being a lady) will love this collection.
Love this cute web comic and am happy there is a collection out! She tells it like it is in the most hilarious way!
Hysterically funny look at Being a woman. The book is written almost as a comic strip. It covers lots of female subjects like manicure tips, how to get the interest of your man, and much more. The book is a very quick read but it will bring a smile to your face. it gives you a whole new outlook on being Woman.
I received this book from the Author or Publisher via Netgalley.com to read and review.
These comics are so cute and relatable. I read this fairly quickly on breaks at work, and it made me smile. I only rated 4 stars however because I have already seen a majority of these comics on the internet previously. I know they're popular and posted everyone, but I would've liked to see more newer ones.
Brantz's comics are quick and adorable, and for me completely relatable. This book is definitely getting recommended to my friends as a pick me up and giggle book. From illustrations based on daily life to dating life to social interactions, she's included it all.
I received a copy of this book from NetGalley.
This was a fun, quick and true to life comic book.
Hilarious and read it in one seating, highly recommend it.
Highly relatable and funny. Had a blast reading it. Recommended!
I found some of this book funny, and some of it disturbing. I'm really not sure how I feel about it. Some of the comics are hilarious, I just think that for me, it works better to look at the whole collection and pick and choose the ones to read. For people that really enjoy comics, this is a great book.
I stumbled upon this graphic novel while looking through NetGalley (when I know I shouldn't --- I've been backlogged on reading). I am glad I found this one, it was a cute, quick, relatable book full over single page comics that illustrate struggles women face. I could relate to probably 90% of the comics. While like "Adulthood Is A Myth" in that I have come upon various comics by this author through social media, most of the ones in this volume are ones that I had not seen before.
I definitely recommend this graphic novel, it is entirely worth the read.
Hilarious and relatable, Loryn Brantz, author of Lady Stuff: Secrets to Being a Woman, reveals long held secrets of women everywhere.
Such a funny Comic and definitely super relatable.
Loved the simple art style and now I'm gonna be looking for more of Loryn's work.
Loryn Brantz has been on my instagram feed forever, and I hope she will continue enriching my everyday life with her short comics about trivialities for a long time yet, but this collection was sadly unoriginal and repetitive. The attempts to sort each comic into categories by adding unnecessary captions were usually unconvincing. And I had hoped for more unpublished comic strips, but most - if not all - of the examples in Lady Stuff won't be new to her long-time followers. Whyyyyyyy? A gift book for non-instagram users at best, I'm afraid.
Loryn Brantz's new book, Lady Stuff, is relatable, hilarious, and spot-on. Divided into five subcategories from "Grooming and Habitat Maintenance" to "Social Conduct", these simple drawings express the realities of "adulting" for many twenty/thirty-somethings. While some of the comics did not fit into their categories as seamlessly as I would have liked, they were all funny. This book fills a refreshing space between the 200 well-curated and perfectionistic Instagram posts that popped up this morning, while still being meme-worthy. I found myself wanting to share some of the individual comics with friends because the images work as well alone as they do in a collection. The collection of Jellybean comics in this book is aimed towards single women without children, but most wives and moms will find something relatable in its pages. Brantz affirmed my love of napping...and my decision to give this book as a gift to all of my girlfriends.
All in all, I was pretty disappointed in this book. It had certain elements going for it. Lady Stuff is a cute, easy read. The art style was engaging, and the book was well formatted. Unfortunately, it felt pretty unoriginal, and as a result, forgettable. The comics felt like recycled jokes that we’ve been seeing online since 2012.
This certainly wasn’t terrible, but there are quite a few comic collections already published that are quite similar. Personally, I would recommend Sarah’s Scribbles over Lady Stuff any day.
Rating: ★★
A friendly little book that has cute female character that many (most?!) women will read & relate to! I found myself smiling & nodding in the affirmative "oh yeah" the majority of the book! I'd definitely recommend it to friends. It's definitely good for a quick read & some relatable laughs/smiles!
I received this e-galley from NetGalley, free, & in return only for my own honest review.
