I love The Awkward Yeti and was excited to read this collection!
I was not disappointed! Even though I had seen a few already (I follow them on social media), I enjoyed rereading the one I had seen (unlike other comics). I laughed page after page watching heart and brain and a variety of other organs fight for dominance. The Awkward Yeti has become the personification of the human psyche as we strive to do the logical things vs the emotional things. I was able to empathize with the panels which added a depth to the humor.
This is a great collection for any fan!
Could not access copy on my PC to view/review. However I love this comic and follow along on Facebook
Anything Awkward Yeti is enjoyable. I thought it was just going to be a collection of comics I had seen before, but there were a lot that I had never seen. I found all of them enjoyable, and loved the fact that characters that are not seen very often made appearances. My favorite is Gallbladder, so I'm glad he had his day. This is really just clean humor, which seems to be rare these days.
Oh Heart. Oh Brain. Fantastically amazing. Laugh out funny. Touching. And so relatable. This book has it all and more.
A collection of relatable and insightful realizations told through the point of view of our favorite set of organs. Heart and Brain are a pair that show the inner conflicts that each of us face in balancing what we NEED to do with what we WANT to do.
I have been following the Awkward Yeti on Instagram for over a year now and I still get that same feeling when his comics come up on my feed. I enjoy the placidity I feel in knowing that these struggles I go through in finding a balance are not my struggle alone. More often than not, I learn to see the world in a new way after reading one of his comics.
This latest compilation will leave you feeling humored. It suits as a great read for all ages.
Such a cute book! A lot of the discussions in the drawings are so relatable to the internal fight I sometimes have. I can relate to both the heart and the brain, but in different scenarios. And, sometimes the cartoon reminded me about me and my boyfriend, which made us both laugh together.
It is a nice, quick read for a laugh. The experience of the book is greater if you read it together with a friend whom you have great discussions with.
If you follow The Awkward Yeti's comics like I do, you already know you're looking at a good time with this book. I never get tired of the heart's shenanigans, the brain's desperate attempts to keep everyone in order, or the hilarious relatability of the intestines. Anyone who's got a human body can probably get a laugh out of at least a few of these, so I'd definitely recommend picking this one up if you're a comic reader.
Thank you to NetGalley and Andrews McMeel Publishing for the ARC! All opinions in this review are my own.
The Awkward Yeti has done it again! Another collection of 100% relatable struggles as seen through the eyes of our internal--and even external--organs.
The organs and our Yeti author are back again with a new book full of hilarious situations that are super-relatable. From waking up at 3 am to tell you all about your biggest life's failures to valuing pizza over healthy foods.
The book is a mix of multi-panelled comics and one illustration comics. I quite like that the author mixed it up like this.
Most of the comics are about the organs, from the Bowels and his grumpiness and stinky farts to Heart who generally is very silly, but at times also wants to listen to Brain (on his terms though). But there are also comics with our author (the Yeti) dealing with health problems, with anxiety, and sleeping (darn that brain and waking people up in the dead of the night).
There were a lot of comics that were really relatable (like pizza is indeed better, salt on your food even if you haven't tried it yet, biting on your tongue, not falling for photoshop, why only take one pet when you can have more, and many more).
I had a big laugh at the eye roll comic, now every time I roll my eyes I see my eyeballs exercising. :P Thanks. :P
One comic was something I already saw another artist also do (the one with the language deteriorating), still funny that is apparently something more people think about.
The art is still great, it really captures the organs actions perfectly.
What more? Ah yes, a few of the comics I recognised from the author's twitter. It was fun to see them again.
All in all, I would recommend this book to everyone.
Another funny installment of the goings-on and personalities of the human organs. Brain and Heart are the stars, naturally: Brain the Ren to Heart's Stimpy, the Cousin Larry to Heart's Balki, the Lisa to Heart's Bart.

Heart and Brain are back everyone!!! Love these two :D Always entertaining with their constant battles between smartypants brain and the ever playful heart! Cutely recreated in this bright and colourful graphic novel which is third in the "Heart and Brain" series by Nick Seluk a.k.a The Awkard Yeti. Read just one and you can't help but fall in love with the two cute starring organs and their organ friends.
Scientifically accurate (it's educational too!) with witty and realistic repartee is all you need to put a smile in your every day.
*Thank-you Nick Seluk, NetGalley & Andrews McMeel Publishing for the ARC.
This collection of comics is so adorable, and spot-on with humor covering everything from Brain's emotional turmoil to Heart's unexplained amusement at Gut's flatulence. They're all pretty much standalone pages rather than having any longer arcs, but can still be funny or touching within very brief moments. The humor behind the Brain/Heart duo is completely accessible to anyone, but a few of the Awkward Yeti characters (Gall Bladder, Spleen, Kidney) will be more fully appreciated by those with a minimal knowledge of anatomy and at least the basic functions of each organ. Overall, very funny, cute and sweet!
Brain, Heart, Tongue, Gallbladder, and the test of Lars' quirky insides return with another collection that can easily be enjoyed and related to by any reader. After all, who has not felt torn between impulse and knowledge of what must be done, thoughts that rudely keep us up at night, or cravings that seem to beat our will power with stunning ease?
Like with all things Awkward Yeti-related, never have the shortcomings of our own inner workings been so wonderfully hilarious (which, as usual, are made all the better by the little nuggets of wisdom and insight sprinkled liberally all throughout)!
Delightful drawings and humor. A wonderful collection.
Now if my organs could speak and converse among each other, this would be the perfect example of how their conversations would go. Also thanks to this book I got to understand one important thing
I am not the only one that her brains wakes up at 3 a.m because it has to check the phone notifications, or simply because it remembered something and wanted me to think and over-think about it in the middle of the night... And more the gut is grumpy!!! And growls for no reason! Oh for brains' sake stomach top doing it! -.-
Funny, witty and 100% relatable I loved this.
A big thank you for this opportunity!
This collection of comic strips features a range of cute anthropomorphic body parts. Their conversations and adventures are funny and often highly relatable. It's fun to read through all in one go or to dip into whenever you feel like it.
If we were to take all the parts of life that some of us don't particularly like: as in budgets, diets, anxiety, book buying bans, etc and apply An Awkward Yeti tinted filter to it all, we would be enjoying ourselves a whole lot more. This was a great way to spend an hour of my day, and it made me smile many times which is well worth the read.
Heart and brain are so relatable and real and funny. My organs approve!
It's a shame this is volume 3, otherwise I'd look to get it into the shop as it was funny. Irritable bowel is my favourite. I was familiar with heart and brain but not many of the strips in this book. I liked it a lot, well done!
Punny, clever, not off-color, and rated "G"-- compared with some Andrews McMeel recent releases. The ever-present battle between the rational brain and the emotional, go-with-the-feeling heart. Fat, gall bladder, tongue, stomach, and muscle characters thrown in. Cute with a few exceptionally witty illustrated observations. A book to enjoy once and then pass on to a friend.
