Lacey Easton ran when she realized there was no way her impulsive marriage would work. Logistics, medical school and his reputation kept her away from him.

Maddox Ledger was stunned to find himself alone the next morning but not as much as when he found who she really was. Now that he knows where she is, nothing will stop him from claiming his wife.

The story's introduction was captivating and hooked me from the get-go. I was intrigued by how it all unfolded and very happy with the ending. I feel the descriptiveness of it all was complete and allowed for me to picture it as it was unfolding.

I liked how real the heroine's feelings were portrayed. I loved how devoted the hero was to her and willing to do anything to make it work. They were the best possible fit for each other.

This is the first book I've read by this author but I will definitely be reading more. I would highly recommend this book to a friend.

This brilliant story combines the quickie Vegas wedding with a second-chance romance, picking up two years after their whirlwind romance and wedding that ended with Lacey pulling a ghost act and disappearing completely. When Maddox finds her and sets out to finish what they started, Lacey has already decided that she'd rather leave than be left and she's not willing to give Maddox the chance to prove he's not the womanizing playboy she thinks he is.

The story was very sweet with plenty of sexy times. Maddox and Lacey are both great characters, completely in love with the other but wary about trusting their hearts. Their relationship growth was slow-building, which made it all the more believable. I loved the interaction with the secondary characters - teammates and family - and it was nice to see the couples from the earlier books as well as get hints about upcoming relationship possibilities in this series. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book provided through NetGalley.

Maddox, a Winger for the Strikers, is loved and hated in equal measures. He plays to win, as evidenced in the Striker's recent Championship win. But, he is selfish and easy to anger. On a two-week vacation in Vegas, Maddox meets Lacey. What starts off as an one-night stand, ends up at a wedding chapel married by "Elvis". The next morning, Maddox wakes up to an empty bed, missing wedding rings, and a missing marriage license. Not knowing what he did wrong or how to find Lacey, Maddox returns home to focus on his career.

Fast forward YEARS...Fate places Lacey and Maddox as members of a wedding party. Lacey's brother is also a Striker and teammate of Maddox's. Lacey grew up around hockey and hockey players. She knows all about "puck bunnies". Lacey's fear and trust issues are what fueled her disappearing act in Vegas. Will Lacey's secrets, misplaced trust issues, and jealous best friend be too much for her to overcome?

Honestly, this is the first L.P. Dover novel I've ever read. It definitely won't be my last!!! I truly enjoyed the banter, the compromises, the romance....ALL of it! Lacey was a little frustrating at times and quick to judge Maddox without knowing the whole truth when Lacey had secrets of her own. Maddox pulls out all the stops to prove his love to Lacey. Will it be enough? I received a gifted copy and all opinions stated are my own.

I have been dying to read Maddox's story since the end of Blocked!!

There were so many surprises with Lacey and Maddox's story and those ups and downs kept me glued to my kindle all day long. I admit, I was a bit like Lacey: I totally thought I knew who Maddox was but I couldn't have been more wrong about him. I wish Lacey had figured out what I did a little earlier: Maddox is an amazing guy and she needs to lock him down, like ASAP!!

I definitely thought that Maddox and Lacey had tremendous chemistry but there were times that I thought that he could do better than her. Those feelings turned around about half way through the book. I was disappointed in how Braedan acted since he's supposed to be Lacey's best friend but this just made me want his book that much more so I can finally see what was going on in his head!

First off, I just have say that I really, really, really wanted to b!tch slap Lacey a few times! OMG, she had some serious high-school jealousy and insecurities going on! One of the main reasons she walked away two years ago is because “she knew how hockey players were”, well…if that’s the case, why the hell did you marry him?! Yes, Maddox was a pure dumb a$$ by purposefully posing with women in pictures to try to get her mad enough to come back and confront him. Well, little did he know, all that did was feed into her insecurities. Let’s not even go into how she just couldn’t trust Maddox, yet he was supposed to just sit back and watch Braden, knowing he wanted more than friendship, yet Lacey just couldn’t see the problem. GRRRR… It was so obvious she loved him. I’m glad she did come around in the end or I might have ended up with a broken kindle, lol.

Maddox, oh my…*swoon*. This man puts up a bad-boy persona, but he has a heart of gold and has fallen, lock-stock-and-key for Lacey. Even with her running out right after they were married, he has remained true to her. His heart knew she was it. I loved how he let nothing get in his way to win her back. I was surprised there wasn’t more of a reaction from her brothers, though. My heart broke for him with the way his father treated him. I was glad to see the way they were working on their relationship at the end.

I won’t even get into my feelings about Braden and Laura. Let’s just say I wanted to throat-punch both of them numerous times! I know Braden will have his own book in the series, but it’s going to take a lot for me to swoon for him. I am positive, though, that L.P. Dover will do just that, and I can’t wait!!

I love a great second chance romance. I love hockey romances. I love this series. So ya, this is a great read and you don’t want to miss a single book in this series.

I am enjoying the Breakaway series by L.P. Dover. Who does not love a good sport romance? In Playmaker, the third book in the series, we get Maddox Ledger’s story. He is not ready to settle down my any means, or so we believe, but when the right woman enters his life, will he finally play for keeps?

Maddox is an all-star player for the Charlotte Strikers and is very good at what he does. He may be called arrogant and a hothead, but all he knows is he is a winner. He enjoys the perks of being who he is, including the women who fall at his feet. But nothing serious for him. He is enjoying life too much.

Lacey Easton did not want to be played, so she walked away from Maddox when she could. Now he can’t get away from him. She continues to push him away, but how long can she deny the strong attraction she has to him.

When Maddox finds herself a part of his friend’s wedding party, he finds himself drawn to the bridesmaid he is paired with. You see they have somewhat of a past and now must deal with it. The reason between their separation may be frustrating but seeing them together was so worth it. Lacey continuously pushes Maddox away, but he is determined to win her back.

Though I found Lacey a bit frustrating at times, she was trying to protect her heart. But I loved how determined Maddox was in winning her back, even when he made some dumb decisions. It was also fun seeing old friends again! The story was a bit angsty, sweet and maddening at times, but it kept me drawn in.

Happy reading!

4 What Happened In Vegas Didn't Stay In Vegas Stars!!

This is book three in this series and I'm really loving each and every book. Maddox and Lacey have a night that's unforgettable in Vegas a couple of years ago and the next morning Lacey takes matters into her own hand by leaving before she can be hurt by Maddox and his womanizing ways!

Fast forward two years later and Maddox has done everything he can think of to get her back but it doesn't happen and when they end up in the same wedding party, and it's about to be ON!!!

This book definitely has more angst than the previous books and sometimes I wanted to just slap Lacey on the back of her head. She's got some definite trust issues and while there's a reason, sometimes it was just a little too much for me.

Regardless of that, I loved how Maddox was going to get his girl...gotta love a man that's got that much determination. It's not an easy road for our H/h thanks in part to their own issues and some of his teammates, but getting to their HEA had me furiously flipping the pages because I wanted it so bad for them.

Loved Maddox in the other book and couldn't wait to read his story.

Bad boy Maddox is head over heals in love with the one girl who has broken his heart. His teammates sister the one who captured his heart and walked away.. Now 2 years later she is back and Maddox is determined to show her he is the one she belongs with.. With a few surprises and time to work things out can Maddox and Lacey beat the odds? Great story, a few hockey mistakes but I still loved the book

If you love a bad boy who is reformed by love, do not miss Playmaker. Maddox will make your heart swoon as he stops his playboy ways and fights to win Lacey’s love.

After they eloped as near-strangers in Vegas, Lacey ran without a trance. Fate plays it hand when Lacey’s brother is marrying Maddox’s cousin two years later, and they are both in the wedding. Sparks fly when they are reunited, although both pretend not to know each other, which is the one aspect of the story that requires the reader to suspend disbelief. It seemed slightly crazy that they thought they wouldn't recognize each other.

Maddox has to prove to Lacey that she can trust him, and he is utterly charming as he does. L.P. Dover always writes emotional and sexy sports romances, and Playmaker is another win.

Playmaker
By: L.P. Dover
📚💕⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💕📚

A good guy with the wrong reputation!!!

L.p. Dover nailed it again. She never gives you what expect but so much more. In Playmaker you'll get two people that are so afraid to be vulnerable and happy they might loose the best thing they never knew they wanted and oh so much more.

I’m Maddox Ledger, all-star winger and the reason the Charlotte Strikers killed it in the playoffs. Yeah, the tabloids like to call me arrogant. A real hothead. All I see is a guy who plays to win. Wreaking havoc on the ice, breaking a few hearts—that’s all just part of the game. And I’m sure as hell not sitting on the bench.

When my teammate asks me to be in his wedding party, I can’t refuse. Lucky for me, the bridesmaid I’m paired with is the definition of eye candy, but she’s so much more than that. Lacey Easton is totally irresistible and she makes me want to be a better man. A glimpse of bare shoulder takes me back to a steamy, two-week Vegas tryst I can’t forget. One I’m eager to repeat.

Suddenly our one-night stand is turning into the sequel. Still, Lacey’s keeping secrets. She doesn’t trust me. And maybe I deserve it. But I know more than she thinks I do and there’s no chance I’m letting her get away—or letting another guy take what is mine. This time, I’m playing for keeps.

I really enjoyed this book and it kept me engrossed throughout. I really loved the characters and the way they interacted with each other. This is a fun, hot, romantic must read book and I would definitely recommend this book to anyone.

This book has everything I love in a book. Then you add that it's beautifully written and believable. It is easily a five star read. Written in dual POV my personal favorite this story flows so incredibly well that the next thing you know your 80% into the book and loving every second of it. The believable way the characters interact is perfect. Run, Hop, Jump or use your (1 click) finger to do whatever you have to do and get this amazing book. It'll break your heart, you'll want to scream with frustration and it'll let you discover that love just might conquer all. The chemistry is steamy and sweet and oh so romantic.

Thanks you Netgally for letting me read and review.

This is A Breakaway Novel. This is the first book that I’ve read by this author but it won’t be the last. What a great book! It starts in Vegas when Maddox and Paige get married. Then Paige walked away. Now she’s back and she reveals that she’s not Paige, she’s really Lacey. And they get to walk down the aisle again. There is so much going on as we find out more about these two and their secret marriage. If you are looking for a really good love story with a little bit of excitement keeping the pot stirred, then this is the book for you. I can’t wait to read more books about the members of the Charlotte Strikers hockey team. I received an ARC from Net Galley in exchange for an honest review.

Ooh...I loved this story. Maddox and Lacey’s journey was hard fought and sweet and sexy. I loved how all of the other characters made an appearance throughout the book. It added to the greatness of the story line. Once again LP Dover writes a perfect romance with just enough angst and heat. I’m hoping Braeden gets his story. I was feeling kind of bad for him. He’s special for sure

The characters were well defined and the storyline was good enough to hold my attention until I read the very last page!

This has been an enjoyable series but I will admit Playmaker has been my favorite so far, I really love a good second-chance story and that is what we have here and we also have a love triangle which makes things very interesting.

Lacey and Maddox had met several years earlier and spent two weeks together in Las Vegas where they were married, only no one knows because the morning after they were married Lacey took off. You would think that it would be easy for Maddox to find her, if he looked, but here's the thing she used her middle name, Paige, so he didn't know that he was looking for the wrong person. A chance meeting that occurs in Blocked reveals that not only is her name really Lacey but she is also the younger sister of his playmate and rival Dallas Easton...talk about making things complicated.

Playmaker is a great story if you love second chances, love triangles, or even sports romances. I recommend reading the entire series in order, although, you can read this as a standalone. L.P. Dover does a wonderful job with writing a story that will pull you in on page one and she will make you fall in love with Maddox, seriously this bad ass hockey player that has a playboy bad boy persona really is not what he seems at all and once you find out the little secret hes hiding you'll fall even harder. Maddox is definitely book boyfriend material.

Great second chance Romance. These two met and fell in love. She was everything he needed and wanted. But she was the one who ran, afraid that it was just a matter of time until he would get bored and go back to his Playboy ways. But what Paige never counted on was that Maddox wouldn’t let her get away again. The chemistry between them jumps off the page. I never imagined that I would be Team Maddox but this story was great. Loved how hard Maddox works to win Paige over but will they make it? You will have to read to find out.

3.5 Stars
The books in the Breakaway series are all interconnected stand-alones and this one focuses on Maddox and Lacey. When we met then in the previous book, we discovered that they had a past and here we get to explore just what that history entails.
This is an entertaining and interesting second chance story. Emotional issues are hinted at, but there isn't a deep dive into them. Maddox and Lacey are both characters that are fairly easy to like, but I have to admit that for me, Maddox was the more appealing character. In almost all of the drama between the couple, Lacey was the factor that either created or accelerated the tension. While this didn't stop me from liking her, it left me a little frustrated that someone with her education and skill set wouldn't be more mature.
Since this is part of a series, the secondary cast plays significant roles in the story. The couples from books one and two in the series are present, especially Callie and Dallas from book two since they are related (Brother and Cousin) to Lacey and Maddox. This means there are potential spoilers if you aren't reading in order. We also see characters that will most likely feature in future stories.
This was a fun book and has me interested to see what might be in store for Justin and Braeden.

Paige aka Lacey and Maddox!
This was quite a whirlwind. Maddox and Paige meet in Las Vegas a crazy romance develops and soon they are in front of Elvis getting hitched. In the morning Paige realizes that Maddox is a player and will probably never change so she makes the first move and leaves without a trace. Maddox is furious , no explanation but he doesn't have her real name after some investigating he soon discovers more than he bargained for but it also keeps him from approaching her . Once he crosses paths with her again at a friends wedding and finds out the reasons behind her getaway it makes this player more adamant about winning back that gal that stole his heart !
Such a great story with Lacey and Maddox!

Maddox is a professional hockey player. He was a ladies man, hot headed, and didn't have a care in the world. Lacey(Paige) is a medical student very serious about becoming a doctor. She's always had a crush on Maddox from afar. She has been around hockey players all her life. She knew what kind of life they lead as far as extracurricular activities. Maddox has a very pushy father. Nothing Maddox does is enough, even winning the Stanley Cup, or playing his best. Nothing is ever good enough. Maddox tries to not let it bother him but its hard when the one person that should be proud of almost everything you do just puts you down.

Lacey and Maddox were in Vegas for spring break, fall in love, get married but she leaves the morning after leaving Maddox devastated. Three years pass, during that time, he hired a private investigator to find out where and exactly who she was, and he gets a shock of his life, when he finds out its none other than his teammates sister. During the # years, they have seen each other, but he was going by her initial reactions when they saw each other again, and she completely ignores him. They both knew who each other were, but didn't know how to approach it. I felt like Lacey was so immature in the beginning. It felt like high school jealousy, but she married the guy, that was her husband who obviously loved her so much. Her insecurities got the best of her and for that, her character, I was so turned off and thought, he deserved so much better. But she redeemed herself and treated Maddox the way he should've been treated. They do get their happily ever after. Maddox is a really sweet guy who always wanted to be happy in life and he got it. I really wanted him to get everything he wanted because he really worked hard and was the sweetest guy, especially to Lacey. I would recommend this story to other readers.

Lacey and Maddox met in Vegas, fell in love and got married. The next day, Lacey disappeared. Two years later, and they are brought back together for a wedding. Only a couple people know about the secret marriage. Maddox makes it his goal to win his wife back.

This was a good story. The characters had good depth to them and were really relatable. This was book 3 in the series, but can be read as a standalone.
