Playmaker is an amazing, page turning read. I fell in love with Maddox and Lacey and were rooting for them to be together from the very beginning. Their story is one that makes one believe that "bad Boys" can have hearts of gold and the "good girls" can have dreams come true. Maddox and Lacey are one sexy and streamy couple that have the love of family and friends on their side.

That what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas came to bite Maddox and Lacey in the behind as this story unfolds. I loved the banter between these characters and the passion. Though there were moments I wanted to yell at the characters, it isn't all that hard to see that people get guarded and insecurities come into play and mess a lot of things up! Overall, I think this is my favorite this series!

I am a sucker for second chance romances. L. P. Dover has pulled me into this series and it keeps getting better with each book. I love sports romances, they are a weakness of mine.

Lacey and Maddox met and got married in Vegas. Maddox thought he finally found the one only to wake up the next morning to find her gone. He wasn’t able to get her of his mind. Now years later he has finally got up the never to confront her.

Lacey is living in New York doing her residency. She tries hard to not think about the man she met and married a few years ago in Vegas. It’s hard when he plays on the same professional hockey team as her brother. She knew they couldn’t be together because he would break her heart.

Lacey and Maddox have a sweet relationship that is constantly tested. I was pulling for them to figure things out. If your looking for a sweet sports romance this is it. I can’t wait for the next book in this series.

Zero lead in with this one! You jump right into the story, which through me off at first but then then characters started coming back to me and a highly entertaining story began!!!

Maddox.... you can't help but love him now!!! But I was really surprised by his career decision.

Braeden... I just don't know what to think about him. With his whoring ways... why did he ever think he had a chance?? And is it bad I hope we don't see Sophia again??? That part of the storyline didn't work for me.

Dallas... he really seems different to me now. More accepting.

Lacey... not my most favorite character. But I did like how she handled Laura!!!

Series continues to keep my attention!! And it's totally time for Jason!!!!!

it was amazing

The Breakaway series is one of my very favorite series...
They say what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas...Sadly is Maddox Ledgers case that was partially true, fir him it stayed in his heart for 2 years. That was when he met her..Somehow this woman embedded herself in his heart.
2 Years later " Paige" is still the only girl he sees. THEN BOOM!!!! He see's her again. Only hr name isn't Paige..Who she really is knocks Maddox off his axis.
Lacey Easton has lived in NYC for a few years doing her residency at one the hospitals....She never forgot her time in Vegas, it was a whirlwind and there's a guy that she never forgot.....Fast forward and now Lacey and Maddox are thrown together again......I really loved this story.
Lacey is all Piss and Vinegar and Maddox is a pain. Together they are perfect

Playmaker is the third book in L.P. Dover's Breakaway series and this was my favorite of the series thus far. What we learned in this book is what happens in Vegas, doesn't always stay there!

Maddox Ledger plays hockey for the Charlotte Strikers and while he's an all-star on the ice, he's not known for being low-key off the ice. He's known for his temper and for being hot-headed. When he's asked to be in his teammates wedding, he's not thrilled about it because of his own current views on marriage, but he's going to do it anyway. When he is matched up with the bridesmaid he'll be walking with, not only is she beautiful, but she's also familiar.

Lacey Easton is doing her residency in New York and has come down to North Carolina for her brother's wedding. While she's excited about it, she also is trying to avoid seeing the one person she both wants to and doesn't want to. Sounds like quite the issue, right? Well, there is no way around seeing Maddox when she is paired up with him to walk down the aisle.

Knowing that their history, which began years before in Vegas, still looms heavily between them, the two have to figure out how to navigate this relationship due to lies, omissions, silence and distance. Will these two people who clearly love each other be able to make it work or will outside forces be too much for them?

While Maddox is made out to be the "bad boy" he really has a heart of gold and that is one of the things I loved about this book. It's clear early on how he feels about Lacey and he's being genuine with her. I also liked Lacey because she was real. She too knew her feelings, but she was questioning whether she could trust them and I think that is very human and normal. I really enjoyed the way this book flowed and how it all unfolded. I was engaged from the very beginning and enjoyed the ride!

It was ok. I think I would have enjoyed this book if I had read the first two in the series prior. I feel like I was told that they fell in love, told about everyone in the books history but I didn't get to feel it. So, I wasn't very attached to this book. However, I'm interested enough to try and read the first two books.

While in Vegas, one drunk night Maddox & Lacey got married but the next day she leaves and they don't see each other until months later. During their separation, Lacey saw pictures of Maddox with other women (he claimed that he didn’t sleep with any of them. He just wanted to get her jealous!!) and decides he is a player. Two years later they reconnect. What didn't work for me is that we never really see their relationship develop or grow. For me, that is the most important part of storytelling. A reader needs to know their characters and see them bond & fall in love, otherwise what is the point of writing a "romance" book?

Maddox was the bad boy of Hockey in all the previous books. He was somewhat of a schmuck and not all that likable as a person. He got into fights and I didn't know what to expect in this book. He made me love him even more in this book than I wanted too because he'd had it hard growing up. His father wasn't the easiest on him, always picking at him and making him feel as if he wasn't good enough. Then there's Lacey...at times Lacey got on my nerves - did she want Maddox, did she not want Maddox? Was she in this, was she not in this? She got jealous at the drop of a hat, but Lord forbid if Maddox got jealous just a tiny bit. I took issue with her "good friendship" with another player and yet poor Maddox couldn't so much as sneeze in another woman's direction. It took me a long while to like her - I have to admit that. Her excuse as to why she left him in the first place was flimsy at best. Girl - you're stupid!! That's all I've got to say. Otherwise, this was a good addition to the series and the author did a good job with incorporating all the previous characters.

I was given an ARC copy from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed are my own and do not reflect anyone else's.

This is the first book I have read by this author, but it surely won't be the last. This is the lovely story of Maddox and Lacey (Paige). This was a sweet, quick read with all the best elements of a romance. I liked the sports aspect, being a hockey fan. Maddox being a star player for the Carolina Strikers and Lacey, the sister to one of Maddox's team mates. The secondary characters were fantastic, in fact, I plan on introducing myself to those characters in her other books! Well written, well done!

3.5 Stars. A hot misunderstood hockey player wants a second chance. What happened in Vegas....

I really enjoyed the story of Maddox & Lacey!
What happens in Vegas doesn't always stay there! I don't want to give too much of the story away, but they had the best time there for 2 weeks, then she bolted. Now here they are 2 years later, can they recapture what they had in Vegas? How hard does Maddox have to fight to prove his love for Lacey? Read their story when this releases! 5 stars for this!

Maddox Ledger met the girl all men dream of finding, had an amazing time with her in Vegas, and then Poof! she was gone and it hurt a little more than he cared to admit. When she left she took a little part of him and he has yet been able to fully move on, she just completely vanished from his life without so much as a goodbye and he just doesn't understand why... he thought he had finally found something good in his life. But he's about to have the opportunity to ask her that question, because they just so happen to be attending the same wedding and he isn't about to let her getaway this time without a goodbye... and maybe a little more!

L.P. Dover has done it again. Another fun, quick read for the contemporary romance lover. If you enjoy sports romance genre this book is for you. A hockey “player” has a fling in Vegas, but what happens in Vegas definitely doesn’t stay in Vegas. I like that Dover made the female lead a strong character. She is a woman with a career and a good head on her shoulders. I enjoyed the banter between the lead characters. I also liked the way Dover took time to develop the characters beyond the surface.

I'm someone that ALWAYS finishes a book. no matter what. However, I just could not get through this book. I found myself skipping around. I liked the concept but the story just fell short. It was kinda silly but it wasn't supposed to be. I know most people loved this book but I just could not do it.

I did not enjoy this book and skipped parts of it. In my opinion it was silly, unrealistic.

I absolutely love this series and Playmaker did not disappoint. Maddox and Lacey are a perfect match. Lacey ran from Maddox years before, but never stopped loving him. Maddox tried to get Lacey back, but went about it the wrong way. After their paths cross, feelings resurface and Maddox will do anything to get Lacey back. Maddox is a big strong alpha male who is so tender and caring towards Lacey. Lacey is such a stubborn woman and won’t give in easily. I did not want to put the book down once I started it. You instantly fall in love with all of the characters, what a great series.

This was a well written, engaging and fairly quick read which I really enjoyed. This is the third book in the Breakaway series.
Maddox and Lacey's story becomes one that turns out very sweet and romantic after different events take place. When all of the drama was set aside and feelings were finally freely expressed, Maddox will capture your heart. For me, Lacey took a little bit longer to warm up to because she was a little too headstrong and stubborn. Maddox is a big strong alpha male who is so tender and caring towards Lacey.

There's nothing I love more than a good sports romance, especially a second chance one. Maddox was so great, but I just feel like the character of Lacey fell too short. She just kept torturing the poor guy who was doing everything in his power to get the girl. She kept blaming it on hockey players, yet was surrounded by good relationships of those that play hockey. The story just needed a stronger female character to be a match for Maddox who was swoon worthy.

I just loved Maddox. Underneath his bad boy persona he was really a great guy. Lacey brought out the best in him. This was a great second chance sports romance. I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough.
