I have really enjoyed every book in this series and Playmaker was no exception. Lacey and Maddox' love story is a little unusual and orthodox but the chemistry was definitely there. Maddox really worked his butt off to prove to Lacey how important she was to him. I also enjoyed the incorporation of the characters from the previous books in this story as well. This was a well written, engaging and fairly quick read.
I loved this second chance hockey romance. The whole team family dynamic is amazing. Maddox will just steal your heart. And Lacey, she is sassy and headstrong. They are perfect for each other and goes to show that even over time love doesn't disappear. Maddox and Lacey share a huge secret and its amazing how it all unfolds as everyone finds out. You get drama, love, and sexy hockey players in this one. L.P. Dover did an amazing job with this third book of the Breakaway Series. Can be read as a stand alone since you do get enough back ground of everyone involved. I would highly read this whole series in order though because it is that good.
Seriously disappointed in this book... yes there was a prologue, but very little back story... heroine had real issues with trusting the hero... the story just felt unreal to me..
Overall a fun story to read. On the one hand, you have bad boy hockey player Maddox, and on the other you have Lacey, a med student. The story starts out in Las Vegas, and a quickie marriage by Elvis. Next day Maddox wakes up alone, and spends a year trying to find her. The back and forth was fun to read, and the emotions were strong. I enjoyed the story, although her running seemed odd, and although it helped them in the end, it was not defined strongly. More details of why she did what she did would have made for a more understandable reason for doing what she did. Still, highly recommend this story, and hope to read Sophie and Braedon's story in the future. Fun series.
What happens in Vegas evidently does stay there!
Maddox is the bad boy of the Charlotte Strickers with an attitude that hasn't made him many friends on the team. That probably wouldn't be too big of a problem if he didn't have a history thrown which has reared itself into the present named Page- I mean Lacey Easton- who just so happens to be the sister to a teammate who doesn't like you much and is very protective of his little sis.
Lacey met Maddox knowing exactly whom he was, essentially made her bed, and fled! Surrounded by a family of hockey stars, Lacey knows their reputation and the women constantly begging for their attention. She is insecure and that costs her years away from Maddox. Now they will walk down the aisle together (again) at her brother's wedding as they are paired up bridal attendants. Finally, they both acknowledge their history, its one Maddox wants to make present, and Lacey wants to leave alone.
These two were cute together at times and other times they were frustrating. Maddox is trying to redeem himself amongst his teammates, excluding Braeden who is Lacey's best friend, and is succeeding. He is charming and goes beyond for Lacey who it seems does not give back as much as she expects to receive.
This story becomes one that turns out very sweet, romantic after different events take place. I enjoyed when all the bull was set aside and feelings freely expressed.
Always great to catch up with the Strickers!
My favorite part of a book is the build up of 2 characters falling in love....with this one, it was like it all happened behind the scenes and the reader missed it all.
