This was a great poetry book. I always absolutely enjoy her work and I can't wait to read more in the near future. I highly recommend it.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review, this has not altered my opinion of this book. And I would like to thank NetGalley and the publisher for the copy of it.
This was a very well done and thought provoking set of poems that I thoroughly enjoyed working my way through. I highly recommend for those who enjoy poetry, it's a pretty good place to start if you're looking to get into poetry as well.
I always find poetry to be such a personal thing to so many that it's hard to judge based on content, but I would still give this a 5 out of 5.
This collection is written more in the style of prose than in poetry, which makes the ideas longer. It was lovely and something I think everyone should read at least once, if not more.
You offer me a platter and I expect satisfaction when I reach the last page. I wanted to love this book, but it felt a bit short for me. Literally short. It should be called Mind Amuse Bouche.
This was wonderful. Very inspiring and motivating. Simple in its language but so profound. Definitely something to look out for all the prose reader. It read more like prose than poetry.
I actually gave it 4.5 out of 5 stars because it was so inspiring, motivating and full of good advice. It's just that it's too long and I cannot fully finished it but I believe this poetry is so good ! I get bored with lengthy words especially when I used to read poetry that is short and simple yet touched my heart.
At first I didn't understand why this was labeled as poetry, because it's not written in verse at all. It's all in prose. But I learnt that there are poets who write like this and it's still valid poetry. Good to know that.
Zebian writes paragraph-long reflections on many aspects of life and things we come across while living it which can be very inspiring if you read them at the right moment. I took my time with this book because I didn't think that reading it all in one sit was appropiate. It was too much to swallow in such a short time. I decided to read 5 to 10 pages per day, give myself time to digest the ideas and then I would keep on reading some more pages the following day. That's why it took me almost 2 months to read it (I must admit there were days that I didn't read it at all, but anyway).
I liked it very much and it felt cosy, like someone was giving me a hug while reading. Also, not realted to the content, but that cover is gorgeous. Everytime I saw it I fell in love with it again and again.

I tried so hard to love this! The cover and description had me thinking I would like this but that was not the case, sadly. I’m normally so into prose poetry, I find myself liking it most. But I just could not get into this author’s writing. It read as both too simplistic and too confusing. I either found myself not getting where she was going with it or getting it and not caring. That was the big kicker of this book, was that I just didn’t care what she was trying to say. I tried and gave it a fair shot but just couldn’t finish.
These poems represent a meditation on life, from struggle for survival to success when emotions wage war within us and force us to question our very existence as we navigate this journey's paths.
I received this ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. I enjoyed this poetry collection and it has a lot of good advice. I would read it again.
Mind Platter is one of those empowering pick-me-up poetry collections that will perhaps kick you a certain place very gently. What annoyed me a bit was that Mind Platter was very repetitive in some cases and I had the feeling that I'd read the same poem earlier on.
Thought provoking pieces, like an assorted platter of musings.
However, I’m not a big fan of the preachy tone and found the style a little bland.
Mind Platter is a collection of very positive, uplifting poetry. Perfect for a long hard week, or for starting out your day positively. It almost seems to be a self help book of poetry.
This was not my favorite book of poetry, but also not my least favorite.
I read a preview copy to this book, and I cannot wait for the book to come out so that I can highlight many many words of wisdom contained within it. In fact, if I do that, it will be almost every page which is highlighted. This book could sit in poetry, or could equally be used as a self help/personal development book. I found it comforting and motivating.
Thank you Andrews McMeel Publishing for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Here's a piece of advice: Read this book. It's a wonderful collection of self-reflective poetry. Majority of the poems were about life lessons. Relatable and truly meaningful. Najwa Zebian is a new to me author and her words are captivating. I shall look forward on her upcoming poetry collection.
This really failed to grab my interest. Though I agree with the messages found in the entries that form the book, they were written as little snippets of advice when they could have been explored in much more interesting ways. I'm sure that the format will resonate with other readers, but it was too direct for what I was hoping for.
Najwa Zebian is amazing, I've been following her on social media for almost two years now and everything she says or write is full of positivity and kindness
This book is full of great insights and wisdom. I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait to share with my husband.
Mind Platter started off strong. It was full of positive entries that were encouraging and uplifting. The poems were filled with different advice about what to do and then part of the way through that all changed.
The poems became repetitive. At one point, I had to make sure I was reading a different poem. Zebian would take the same point and repeat it over and over again in a slightly different way. There were even points that contradicted one another which made some of the points a little unclear or confusing.
Book of empowering, motivational thoughts, some a sentence or two, and some longer paragraphs. A lovely book to have and consult when needed, a very good tool for self-care. While Najwa Zebian addresses the evils of the world, she consistently maintains a hopeful love towards humanity, and encourages readers to care for themselves and to face the world with confidence and certainty in their own worthiness..
"Of all the gifts I could give you, I choose to give the ones I needed
when I was in my darkest moments. You see, we all walk different
paths, but there is one tragedy that we all share: the struggle to be
ourselves in a world that wants us to be anything but ourselves."
