I am a big fan of Lena Gregory. If you haven’t read any books by Lena and you like cozy mysteries, you owe it to yourself to pick up one of her books! In this second installment of An All Day Breakfast Café Mystery series Gia has finally become comfortable with her new life in Florida, running a restaurant specializing in breakfast foods, but an uncovered zoning regulation threatens to overturn the life she has created after fleeing NY and a boatload of bad memories. When the council president shows up lifeless in a swamp, Gia discovers secrets and lies. Can she save her café and uncover the killer before it is too late? This is such a fun and engaging series. I highly recommend it.
This series is so delightfully all over the place with the personalities of the characters, I am so hooked! Gia is a hot mess. One would almost think she was afraid of her own shadow, which at times leaves you almost belly laughing at her dramatics over what most would consider normal things. I love how the author makes sure that the characters struggles are real, zoning, phobias. Once you throw in a good murder with no real suspects, it makes for the perfect storm!
This was the second book to this series the first I haven't read yet and will go back to read it.
I enjoyed very much .
Gia didn't know why the council wanted to shutdown her cafe. All was reviled.
The story had plenty of twists to keep you guessing the humour was brilliant it had me laughing out loud .
Thanks for letting me read and review this book and will look out for her next one .
Just a fun read with plenty of mayhem, which was fun for me working in construction to be the bystander instead of in the middle of it all. The story hooks you and keeps you entertained until the end.
This is an enthralling mystery with likeable characters, a many layered plot involving murder, friends and family going back many years, a wonderful Florida setting giving you the good and the bad of living in Florida and a Bernese Mountain Dog which is a particular favorite as we have one in the family. At the urging of her best friend Savannah, Gia Morelli has moved from New York to Florida and opened the All Day Breakfast Cafe. She finds out that the town council determined that the setting for her cafe is improperly zoned and can only be used for residences. Gia wants to fight for her cafe and is approached by Marsha, a council member who wants to meet with her and give her some documents but before the meeting is to take place Gia finds Marsha's dead body. When Gia and Savannah look into the zoning history of her cafe they find a reference to Savannah;s mother who had been killed years earlier. More mayhem ensues, including Gia's home surviving an arson attack and her relationship with police detective Hunt deepens as the case moves forward. I was hooked on this story from the first page through to the end and I highly recommend it.
It looks like Gia Morelli, who’s just gotten used to life in Florida, may have to close down her All-Day Breakfast Cafe due to a zoning problem. Town council president Marcia Steers is bound and determined to shut down the cafe, but before she’s tossed out on her ear, Gia finds Marcia’s body in a local swamp. It looks like Gia isn’t the only person Marcia ticked off, and this one was angry enough to kill. Intent on saving her cafe and solving the murder, Gia begins looking for answers. A fun and snarky Florida cozy (stuff happens in Florida that would never happen anywhere else!)
