I am always interested in how a domme will be written in a BDSM novel. Usually dommes are created to be cruel, sadistic man-haters. Dulcinea comes across this way on the surface, especially with the first scene. After the first chapter, I'm pulled in and I regret reading this book on my flight across the Atlantic. Why do I regret it? Because the BDSM scenes are so arousing that I wish I could have a little "me-time".
When it comes to BDSM scenes, Ms. Trevor does a fantastic job. The scenes both in private and at her exclusive club are well done. These scenes are more or less possible in real life. This tells me that either Ms. Trevor is in the lifestyle or she did a lot of research. I am leaning more towards real life experience.
What surprised me was not how Dulcinea treats Gino. It was how Gino responds to her. It is a very dangerous game she plays and I'm not sure I'd have the balls to do it. Whilst she is messing with Gino, she is really more interested in Alonso. The thing is, finding a male submissive in real life is not difficult. In fact, I can throw a rock in any direction and basically hit a submissive. But to find a submissive that is like Alonso? Not so easy to find. When it comes to Alonso who is not a submissive and more vanilla than not…, this is when it gets interesting. This erotic suspense needs to be experienced in privacy or at least a place which allows sexual shenanigans. The sexual heat in this tale is supernova. The erotic exchange between Dulcinea and Alonso is so good. This erotic novel is highly recommended to readers looking for a strong and caring domme.
This is the story of Donna DeMarco, also known as Dulcinea. She is a Domme and the owner of Club Chivalry. She has it all, except the man that she really wants. She has the love of her loyal slaves, but not the attention of the man that she trusts the most.
I am giving this a 1.5 star rating. I enjoyed this at the beginning. I loved reading about the strong Dulcinea. She was fearless and knew how to take control, especially when she was slapping dudes into submission so they realized their mistakes in stepping up to her. However, the storyline was sorely lacking. I get that she wanted a man who was not involved in the lifestyle. She was trying to get her life to balance out where she could have the love of her slaves and also the love of the man she wanted. Her relationships seemed rushed in this story. The reader gets a glimpse of the slaves' lives and of Alonso.
The plot went haywire with the story of Gino and Jesenia/Betty. It did not make sense in the storyline. It brought no resolution to the main objective of the relationship between Dulcinea and Alonso. This aspect made Dulcinea look as if she was confused about what really important. She was willing to defy someone that could kill her or anyone associated with her? She took it as a game, in my opinion. This book was a short read, but the plot was all over the place.
This one did not do it for me on many levels and I enjoy erotica and BDSM erotica very much. The story is where is lost me and the the lack of character depth.
This was an interesting BDSM take on a classic story. I enjoyed the book. It is definitely a NSFW story. I enjoyed the story of Domina and Alonso, and the progression throughout the novel.
If you are looking for a vanilla love story this is not the book for you. If you are opened minded and can handle FF, MM, MMF or FFM and can put your preconceived notions of sex and sexuality aside you may enjoy this read.
Donna/Dulcinea is the owner of a sex club called Chivalry. The story revolves around a new member to her club Gino a mobster that tries to push her boundaries and have things his way.
There is an almost comedic element running as a secondary but not allowed to come fully to the front feel to the story. The characters have an almost larger than life feel, the mobster and his posturing are so over blown that it almost becomes a caricature of what we think a puffed up buffoon wannabe mobster is. The misunderstandings between her slaves, the almost at times young school girl feel of Dulcinea’s crush on Alonso her body guard give a different almost competing vibe to the book.
So glad the author did more than the typical spank fest that seems to dominate some of the BDSM stories. There is a nice erotic build to the sex scenes. I had read about caging before in another story and that author did a horrible job with it. This author explained in a way that you understood what it was all about and how it can stimulate the male to a greater release. There is a wonderful sensuousness to most of the story.
What didn’t work for me I spent a good portion of the time trying to figure out just how big the club was? How many people worked there and were there other aspects to the club besides the sex show? How many hours were actually in one of her days because the hours just didn’t seem to line up with the amount of erotic displays that were happening. What was her obsession with Alonso that made her almost become a brainless twit? The mob connection with Gino just seemed so B rated movie quality that it was more of an eye roll with its almost cartoonish feel to it.
What made it a steamy read was, the slow build, the connection and caring that all of the main players in her club had for each other. The almost seamless explanations about what was happening and Dulcinea’s choices in these carnal matters and the underlying vulnerability of the main players made the consensual sex feel normal and right.
I think if the author had allowed the humor to rise a bit more and the cartoonish elements to fade away this would have been a 5 star steamy, sensuous with just the right amounts of humor to relax and stimulate the reader.
I received an ARC from Net Galley and I am leaving an unsolicited review of the work.
Dulcinea runs Chivalry, a nightclub that is part dungeon/part live action-theater. There is chemistry between Dulcinea and her chief of security, Alonso. I absolutely loved when she showed Gino what happens when you disrespect the Dominatrix. While this is erotica, there is also suspense and some romance mixed in.
Wow what a story. Read in less than a day and kept m me on the edge of my seat. This is definitely erotica through and through BUT it's also a touching romance and gets you inside the mind of a dominatrix. For someone interested in the bdsm lifestyle this book will help you understand if this is the lifestyle that you really want. Tons of great sex throughout. Not for the faint of heart though. Graphic depictions of whipping/flogging, rough sex, male on male sex, lesbian sex and even a scene with a cross dresser. If you are into erotica and bdsm and actually want a story this is a great story to read.
I received and Advanced Reader Copy. I am voluntarily leaving a review. This is a hot steamy read. It has strong BDSM elements with M/M, M/F/M, F/F and other combinations included. It is very graphic, so not for the faint of heart. There is also suspense and romance. A very enjoyable read.
WOW ! Oh that is not a good wow either. I really do not know where to begin. While I love erotic romance and BDSM, I really did not find romance or much of a plot in this book. Which is where I am disappointed. This book was really strictly erotica. While the sex scenes, which was most of the book, were hot as hell there was not any meat to it. Nothing to really draw me in and hook me. Dulcinea wants her security guard but he is a vanilla as they get, so she thinks. New players in her VIP club may help pay the bills but cause hell in her life. I guess the ending was sweet, where her slaves knew what she needed and gave that to her.
I would read another book by Ms. Trevor because I do not believe that my non enjoyment of one book is enough to not read the author again.
I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book. My thoughts and opinions are my own.
So this story was a little out of my comfort zone but after reading several positive reviews I thought I would give it a try. What drew me was the possibility of the relationship of Alonso and Dulcinea and it did not disappoint. I thought it was sweet and okay, sexy. This is not a book for the faint of heart. I was taken aback by some of the actions but it still did not take away from the relationship of Alonso and Dulcinea.
My first time reading a book from this author. I loved her writing style and the characters are relatable. I enjoyed reading this book and will look forward to reading more from this author.
This book is not for the faint hearthed. It is absolutely HOT. This was my first book from Lissa Trevor and it was a good story. The characters were very engaging. If you are easily shocked, this book is not for you.
Thanks to the publisher via Netgalley for this copy in exchange for an honest review.
This novel screams erotic. Would a seductive sensual novel. Certainly a must read by far. I loved reading it and found it pleasant to read. Definitely a must read so check it out.
Aside from a punch to the teeth in the opening chapter that I felt crossed a line between sadomasochistic pain and brutal violence, Domme Quixote was a stunning piece of erotic fiction. Lissa Trevor interweaves fantasy erotica, real-life romance, and crime drama in a BDSM-themed novella that more than delivers on the thrills.
Dulcinea is a professional dominatrix who runs Chivalry, a nightclub that is naked dungeon in the front, and exclusive, expensive, live-action theater in the back. Her wealthiest, most dedicated clients pay an exorbitant amount of money to be part of her inner circle, gaining access to the fantasy-themed live sex shows that thrive on audience participation. There are a couple of shows we see played out in course of the story, and they are worth the price of admission on their own.
What makes the story really thrive, however, is the human aspect of Dulcinea, the perfect dominatrix. Outside her role at Chivalry, she is an insecure woman who just wants to be loved. She is a great judge of character, but too trusting of herself, and blind to the faults of those submissive to her. It is fascinating to watch as she spars with the mobster who crashed her live sex-show, forcing him into chastity, and and usurping his submissive girlfriend. He chafes against the role, and . . . well, does typical mobster things to threaten her into giving him his release.
The sex here is so hot . . . so incredibly hot . . . with scenes of bondage, pegging, facesitting, chastity, corporal punishment, and more. Chivalry is a submissive's dream, and to be part of that atmosphere, part of the show, is a dream come true. Domme Quixote certainly has its darker moments, particularly with a betrayal near the end, but it also had a thread of romance that comes out in the end.
I freaking loved this book. It was fun and had great characters in it. Dulcinea has a BDSM club that does live theater. Gino, a mobster comes in with his sub, Dulcinea let's him know that she is in control, not him. She gets kidnapped by Gino, but is saved by a hunky, military security guy.. This was a new take on erotica and I was surprised and impressed by how good it was. I received this book from Net Galley for an honest review I honestly loved it
A dominatrix struggling to pay the rent for her club puts on a show and embarrasses a mobster who insults her with his attitude. OH MY GOD hahah
I haven't read an erotica in so long. It was different, than other erotica's I've read in the past. And Oh my god! This was something alright! I loved it! I can't read wait to read more from this author!
A dominatrix struggling to pay the rent for her club puts on a show and embarrasses a mobster who insults her with his attitude. Hilarity tries to ensue, but it’s not allowed.
Most stories involving dominatrices feature them having a screwed up regular life, and this one is no exception. Her desire for her security chief clouds her judgement at the worst times, but it’s her stubbornness and ego, just as much as the mobster’s, that escalate things into such dangerous situations.
But even had Don Quixote not been one of my favorite stories—seeing a fantastic version of Man of La Mancha recently no doubt helped—this would have still been a ton of fun. The sex and domination aspects were done better than the romance and mob stuff, especially the shows. There’s more than enough entertaining reading. The main character, in particular, was immensely intriguing, someone I would love to get to know better (though not as one of her slaves!).
But I kept wondering: this guy is in the mob, but he’s not the leader. She mentions she had contact with the mob when she first started the business, so she must know someone who can get Gino to lighten up. But that of course is so simple it never occurs to her. . .
I definitely enjoyed this erotic suspense drama by Lissa Trevor. I just wish the plot line of Domme Quixote had been a comedy. The comedic elements were everywhere. The misconceptions, misunderstandings and the characters over blown characteristics and desires were almost high comedy you might find in Boccaccio.. This minor quibble aside, the book is well worth the read and I highly recommend it for anyone who likes BDSM writing. Its pretty good.
Alas the plot can be separated from the actual powerful sexual drama. The use of organized crime and gun violence do not lend anything serious to the work and the reader will see it as pretty well stock in trade place holders that link the brilliant scenes of sexual drama. The eroticism will blow you away. It was like being terribly teased by a good writer who could have, and almost did produce a brilliant plot. Had it done so it would have kicked this into a higher category of romantic erotic BDSM fiction, something with serious literary merit.
Dulcinea runs a nightclub that is part dungeon/part live action-theater, her exclusive clientele pays a great deal to be a part of her sexual adventures. Now Dulcinea wants to conquer her chief of security, Alonso. Although the chemistry is there, Alonso won’t be one of her many slaves. When Gino, a mobster decides he can buy Dulcinea he is shown what happens when you disrespect the Dominatrix. What will happen when Gino is out for revenge. The is a fast-paced read with plenty of drama and hot and varied sex. I found the story to be entertaining and the sex scenes steamy. A good read.
When mobster Gino de Pasamonte decides his money can buy the best Dominatrix in the tri-state area, he's in for a big surprise when she puts him in a chastity cage and punts him out of her club, naked, for disrespecting her. Now, Gino is out for revenge and it's up to Dulcinea and Alonso to stop him from destroying Chivalry, her reputation, and her devoted slaves. When I started reading I couldn't put it down I read the book in one day.Lissa is magnifysent writer.I cannot wait to read more of her books.Keep up the great work. You should definitely read this book.
