I was really happy to receive a copy of this book from NetGalley. It has samples of a range of books that have yet to be released, Having the opportunity to read even a small section of a few books I've been waiting for is amazing. Not only that, I was able to discover other books I hadn't heard of yet, so I will now be keeping an eye out for them close to their release date.
Buzz Books 2018: Young Adult Fall/Winter included selections of upcoming books such as Shadow of the Fox by Julie Kagawa, Ignite the Stars by Sangu Mandanna, The Gilded Wolves by Roshani Chokshi, and Girls of Paper and Fire by Natasha Ngan.
Overall, a fantastic selection!
I adore YA Buzz Books! It's such a great way to learn about all these new upcoming releases as well as read a sampling of each new title. I'm definitely looking forward to a bunch of these books.
I love getting these! Reading the Buzz Books tells me a lot about what YA books are coming out! I look forward to these every season!
I am not usually a fan of young adult books, but after reading the samples I am looking forward to Mammoth by Jill Baguchinsky, The Similars by Rebecca Hanover, and That's Not What Happened by Kody Keplinger. From the lists of other books I am also interested in Buried Beneath the Baobab Tree by Adaobi Tricia Nwaubani and Viviana Mazza, History vs. Women: The Defiant Lives That They Don't Want You to Know by Anita Sarkeesian and Ebony Adams, and What If It's Us by Becky Abertalli and Adam Silvera.
I really enjoy these Buzz Books; the samples included have helped be to discover new books that I probably never would have picked up otherwise.
Thank you for putting the Buzz Books 2018 together! I cannot wait to read all those upcoming novels!
Always excited to see a new Buzz Books volume! These excerpts are so helpful in choosing which titles to request. Thank you for providing such a valuable resource!
This collection of excerpts from upcoming adult books was very much a mixed bag for me. Some of them I was devastated that I didn't have the complete book, whereas others I was counting down the minutes until I could move on to the next book.
There was a wide variety of reading material, quite a few contemporaries and a fair bit of fantasy. There might have been a couple of others from different genres, but those two comprised the bulk of the content. (Actually, now that I'm thinking there was some science fiction too.) I think that there is definitely something for every reader in here!
My personal favourites were: When Elephants Fly (contemporary), The Similars (science fiction), Ignite The Stars (outer space fiction), & That's not what happened (contemporary). These were my personal favourites, but there was a wide range and definitely something for everyone.
I enjoyed the fantasy reads too, but no one of them in particular really stood out to me, whereas these were the four which really made me want to continue reading the rest of the novel.
This was definitely helpful in helping me determine which of the upcoming releases I will look at reading and/or buying in the future, but I would not really recommend reading it just for enjoyment. It is a bit jarring reading just one to three chapters of a character and then having to move on to a new set. It was definitely helpful, but also hard to follow as an enjoyment read.
Overall, I'm rating it three stars because of the wide range in stories, and my wide range of opinions for each. Many of these stories had intriguing and enjoyable beginnings, and I look forward to seeing the releases of these novels.
That's a really nice format! I loved the little snippets 0f uncoming releases and this collection has definitely helped me slim down my TBR a bit.
Another good look at the upcoming YA titles to be excited for. I love that at the end of most of the excerpts, a link to request the full galley on NetGalley is included. Based on this sampler I think the title that I am most excited for is Girls of Paper and Fire by Natasha Ngan!
Love these samplers for the way I can try out a lot of different teen books quickly and talk them up to patrons. Thanks!
Made me want to read more of The Shadow of the Fox. I love books that have worlds and characters based of off East Asian Culture, and this particular story captured me. So happy I was able to ckntinue reading it by being able to get an e'-ARC.
Also interested in more of Gilded Wolves. Historical fantasy is awesome, and I look forward to this book's release!
I love Buzz Books! Looking forward to a few on here that I haven’t even heard of. Great way to encourage summer reading.
Interesting to see what books are coming out and get a sneak peak.of what's to come. Some interesting titles
A great selection of excerpts of upcoming books! Girls of Paper and Fire is one to watch for along with Sadie, but all are great titles and I recommend checking the selection out.
i just found out about these, this is amazing. I cant believe that i didn't know about these sooner.
Since it is time to get my students excited for summer reading, I absolutely loved having the Buzz Books 2018! There are so many amazing books featured in the Buzz Books 2018! My students were feverishly writing down titles to add to their wish list!
These are some of my favorites here on netgalley! They are so great with showing what is coming next! Cant wait for the next issue!
I like these samplers, as they give me a chance to see what is coming out next and what I might be interested in. They're also great for getting a chance to see work by authors I might not normally pick up. This sampler was great for all of that, although I didn't find a whole lot of upcoming books in this particular one to add to my TBR. There were a few that still piqued my interest, or that I was already looking forward to. There were a couple in this one that seemed more middle grade than YA to me which surprised me.
I have never seen a book similar to this before. My tbr pile is now even bigger! Some most anticipated are Wildcard,Escaping Houdini, Queen of Air and Darkness, and Dry.
Always love to see what is coming up and this publication always gives a massive insight to what I should look out for.
