Bennie Rosato and Mary DiNuzio are back with their sixth adventure. So is Nick Machiavelli, an attorney who Mary won cases against before. This time Nick is set on humiliating Benny & Mary and possibly bankrupting the firm.

Mary is pregnant with her first child and since her husband, Anthony, is unemployed, she will have to return to work after the baby comes. Nick represents the plaintiffs in a reverse discrimination suit against the firm. The 3 male plaintiffs claim that they applied for positions but were not offered employment because of their sex. In one of those interviews John, the only male attorney in the firm, admitted to the applicant that he did not feel comfortable with the female partners.

Another large case that the firm is handling is about antitrust matters and John is the firms’s expert on antitrust law. John is unhappy that his comments about being the lone male are upsetting everyone so he decides to quit the firm. Then John is killed throwing everything and everyone into disarray.

This well crafted story has many twists and turns and new information is revealed in every chapter.

I received a free copy from NetGalley. Are there really only six in this series so far?! Mary tells the story in this one. Not sure I would want to read this one without having read some of the others for background on some of the characters. Quick read. Interesting story. Worth the time if you are already familiar with the series but don't start with this one.

Not my favorite in the series, but still a pleasure. The law firm is being sued for reverse discrimination, a timely topic. To make it worse, the lawyer going against them is Mary's nemesis, Machiavelli. The one man in Rosatto, DiNunzio and Assoc. is partially at fault because of hints that, as a man, he doesn't fit the partner profile. When he ends up murdered, Judy Carrier, newly promoted third partner, becomes the chief suspect. The resolutions to these problems and more provide many twists and turns.

I love Lisa Scottoline, I love Mary DiNunzio, so I loved FEARED. This is the newest entry in the series, which deals with the fearsome female lawyers, Mary, Bennie and Judy. This time their equilibrium is upended by a lawsuit claiming discrimination against potential male employees. Stirred into the plot are the villainous Machiavelli and the murder of their only male employee.

Not only does it deal with all these issues, but also the issue of pregnancy in the workplace and as a career bump. So much fun, yet full of meaty issues well worth discussing at a seminar or book club.

I urge readers to spend a few weeks this summer and read some of the earlier books in this series. You will enjoy every moment and you will be able to enjoy this book much more fully when you have the context.

Thank you NetGalley and Lisa Scottolini for a wonderful read!

Another predictable story... it was ok, maybe a beach read but too many books too little time for me to suggest this as a read... ordinary

A worthy addition to the Rosato series, good plot, great characters including Mary’s iconic Italian family.

Ok first off...I only gave this 4 1/2 stars because this story was a little slow in the beginning. Once you get past the slow, hold on, get ready for a super fast paced story.
Now for the review....FEARED is a super awesome story, it’s fast paced with some twists you aren’t going to be expecting. Three women work together in a law firm. They also employ a male attorney, but apparently he feels out of place and told the wrong person. John’s taking with someone about a job in the law firm ends up getting the ladies sued. They are getting sued for discrimination, the suit claims the ladies only hire women, which you’ll have to read the story to find out if they really are discriminating. Then on top of the law suit, there is a murder.....and they’re making claims that Mary did the killing. Oh boy, these ladies already have enough troubles, now this! The ending was a complete shock to me! Loved it! Happy Reading! :)

Another blockbuster from the author. Full of her usual mystery and suspense and even left me surprised at the end. The book could have done with a little less of the legalese but overall a book that I would recommend to all.

I think Lisa Scottoline is a great writer and I usually like her books and especially the Rosato & DiNunzio novels, but I had a difficult time getting into this particular book. I enjoyed the characters and thought the storyline had promise; it just took a long time to get to the meat of the story and I found myself skimming some sections (mostly the parts when DiNunzio would visit her family). This won’t deter me from reading more of her books in the future, but Feared was not one of my favorites in her series.

I think I've used all the words to describe this series previously! LOL These lawyers are great. I love the attitudes/personalities and the messes they manage to end up in while defending a case. I even learn quite a bit about the law as I read. A deep plot with more than a few twists and a couple of surprises along the way. A story you really don't want to put down.

Lisa Scottoline hit it out of the park once again with Feared. This book, the sixth in the Rosato and DiNunzio series (though it is good enough to stand on it's own), follows the lawyers as they are hit with a personal lawsuit and cope with the loss of one of their own. While I did get a big bogged down by the technical details of one of the lawsuits (furniture software just isn't my thing), I still found myself staying up late and getting up early to read this book! I can't wait for the next in this series.

I received this book free from NetGalley in exchange for my honest and unbiased opinion.

Wonderfully full-blown series intro!! The characters are well-defined and quite real!! The story grabbed me from the beginning and just kept going! So many surprises and twists in the skillfully written thriller! Could not put it down!! It feels like the middle of a series instead of the first book! Loved it!!

I was thrilled to receive a copy of Lisa Scottoline newest book from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review!
I was a huge fan going into this book and again she did not disappoint.
I feel like I know Mary, Bennie, Judy, Anne, all of Mary’s family and of course the Tony’s!
It was a great story, suspense, and of course all love from Mary’s big Italian American family.
I am so invested in this characters. I can’t wait to see where we will be going next!

A solid entry in the Rosato and DiNunzio series. Machiavelli is back, making life miserable for the entire firm when he files a reverse discrimination lawsuit against them, trying to irreparably damage them. Things go from bad to worse when quotes from John Foxman, one of the firm's lawyers, are brought to light. One of their "family" is murdered, Mary has some pregnancy issues, and secrets come to light. A fast paced read that will keep you turning the pages as fast as you can as Mary, Bennie, and the others work to solve the mystery.

This is the 6th book in the series and is a legal thriller. It’s fairly fast paced and is quite the page turner. There is a couple different cases going on along with the firm being sued. Mary is very pregnant and this adds a new dimension to the story. I enjoyed the book very much! I received an advance review copy in exchange for an honest review by NetGalley.

I have read Lisa Scottoline for many years and have enjoyed her books immensely. This book was no exception. It was a great read. The law firm is being sued for "male" discrimination and the ladies cannot deny they have been advocates for woman. When it comes to light their one male employee feels he has been slighted and mentioned in the law suit it goes from bad to worse especially when there is a murder of one of their own they are close to. As the ladies fight the law suit and try to solve the murder the plot takes a turn you might not have seen coming. Although it started out a little slow due to the details to keep you following along as to the status of those involved past and present this can be read as a stand alone novel and still be an enjoyable read.

I have read all of Lisa Scottoline's books.
This series is a favorite of mine- I have been looking forward to this chapter in the story.

Celebrating a baby shower- when surprise news comes.
A personal lawsuit where plaintiffs are paintiffs. They want drama and attention, they want to inflict pain.
Rosato & DiNunzio is no longer a happy, secure law firm.
Then, a death makes more drama and brings suspense. Lawyers become detectives.
All the while Mary and Anthony are preparing for parenthood.

This book will keep you reading until the final conclusion!

A novel with a plot line that will keep the reader on their toes. Great characters, as usual. Machiavelli is back...and the South Philly mama’s are on a roll. For mystery lovers and Scottaline fans...enjoy!!

In this latest thriller, Nick Machiavelli returns to sue the Rosato & DiNunzio law firm for reverse sex discrimination—claiming that three applicants were not hired because they were men. Their lone male employee, john Foxman, makes matters worse when he admits that he is looking for another position because he doesn't believe he will make partner as a male in an all-woman firm. Bennie and Mary feel betrayed when John admits he may have expressed his feelings during job interviews with competing law firms. Machiavelli has always been out to get Mary and even though she is pregnant, she and her law firm are in his sights. He will stop at nothing to bring Rosato & DiNunzio down, but murder? Mary is determined to show him for what he is even if it means including Flavia, his mother, and the Rosary Society.
I always enjoy a Scottoline book, but this is the best Rosato & DiNunzio book so far. No spoilers here, I won't divulge whether Mary and Anthony have a boy or girl. Scottoline has the Italian/South Philly experience at its best...I was laughing out loud at some of the dialogue between "Mare" and the ladies from the Rosary Society, practically smelling the chocolate chip cookies and baked ziti.
