Super Chill by Adam Ellis is blooming hilarious! It is super relatable, humourous, and a total delight.
** I received a complimentary copy of this book through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own. **
If you love to swim in the pool of comics then you surely know Adam Ellis. No? okay! you may not know the artist but you will surely familiar with this by the grace of mighty internet –
Here, Adam presents Adam. One of the funniest and truest self in form of cartoons is here… in book.
I cannot praise enough of this book because every damn strip is effing relatable. we all have been there at one point and Adam chose to put it on paper.
Like when you are shy and cannot disagree with your hairdresser.( every effing time bro)
When you are an adult but still need your mom to get an appointment to get a haircut.
The honest expression and inner talk of your body that we need to pay heed of.
The motivation we need to invest on ourselves through peptalk to conquer higher self esteem and win adulting.
Adam perfectly shows how clumsy we could have been.
and how we consume favorite foods by believing self made myths.
and he introduced to us funny characters from other culture with which we can relate our soul.
He showed his obsession about crystals and makes you obsessive to have them too. (I want that Lemurian Seed Crystal badly)
That how every single time we pose for cute cool selfies but ended up looking like Golum.
and how the book Adam feels about real Adam.
I loved it. It’s a five star book for me because all the cartoons are so relatable with my introvert, low self esteem, lazy ass soul that I became sad and happy both after finishing the book. I am a huge Adam Ellis fan, stalk him and follow him on social medias and then this book give me some real super chills.
Will I buy this book? – Hell Yeah!
Will I recommend it to others? – to every adult ( but a non adult and introvert in inside).

A comic that acts like a slice of life, with all its comedy and wit. This is the kind of graphic novel I would use to introduce others to graphic novels.
A humorous look at serious/and not so serious issues.
I highly recommend!
Very insightful and enjoyable!
I've been reading Adam Ellis' work for a quite a while now. I loved reading his comics on BuzzFeed, and more recently I've started reading his comic Books of Adam on Webtoon. So when I found out he was to publish a book with some of his comics, I was pretty excited.
Unfortunately, I was a little disappointed. I thought that most of the comics weren't that funny, and those I did find funny were the ones I already knew from Webtoon. Moreover, I found it hard to relate to a lot of the comics you can find in the book.
I did enjoy what I read, I love Adam's drawings and it's easy to identify his work, I guess I was just expecting more.
While some of this was hit and miss, I think as a non-fan of autobiographical blogging-style comics, this is by far one of the better ones. Some of the pages don't exactly nail the comical, but when he goes on a darker tangent – such as the hang-nail, or the trip to the dentist – he clearly proves a decent inventiveness; you're smirking as well as wincing at the same time. I think I liked it because the book is half inspired by life, half making for a gag – so it's a change from the full-on yuck fest, but it's by no means all "me, me, me". Well worth a look.
"Super Chill" by Adam Ellis was hilariously relatable. It was a super quick read in which I saw myself on almost every page.
I loved this little comic! It was so funny and omg so relatable. I mean anxiety is a big part of my life unfortunately and I could related to his drawings so much, it’s good to know we’re not alone in these kind of situations!
Definitely would recommend this book to a friend
I'm a fan of Ellis' work for months and never forget to daily check his tumblr & IG so I'm familiar with his weirdness.
Super Chill delivers its premise, like, imagine yourself an anxious person, but chill.
Yeah, that.
I might want Adam to dig more, but this is chill too.
I'm sure I've read some of the Buzzfeed comics before in the past, but I've yet to read any of the ones included in Super Chill. This was a good collection of stories no doubt inspired by Ellis's day-to-day, and on one level I can relate with regard to dealing with anxiety. Although my anxiety isn't quite the same, I feel that other readers will relate to Ellis. Life can be especially difficult, especially when you're hit with so many outside factors (even the smallest ones can cause an anxiety episode). Ellis doesn't try to offer a solution but instead a means of coping with the anxiety he feels.
The art style is quite unique and readers familiar with the Buzzfeed comics will definitely recognize Ellis's signature art. Overall I do recommend Super Chill to readers. 3.5 stars out of 5 stars
Super Chill is perfect for a fast and easy read, it's funny and relatable.
I liked some parts more that other but in general it's really nice. It was three starts for me
Okay, here's the thing, I totally was tricked by the title of this graphic novel, and thought it was going to have a more succinct story. Had I not been dumb, and read the summary I would have realized that it's a collection of comics from the author. Comics that don't really transition that well from page to page.
I have been a fan of Adam Ellis' work for awhile, I used to read his blog in college, so I thought this would be a perfect fit for me. However, this just didn't gel with me. Don't get me wrong, I loved the artwork, but it was basically like he had a bunch of random one-off comics and they just put them in a book together with no rhyme or reason for it. It just felt very disjointed, and there weren't good transitions from comic to comic. It just felt really sloppy to me.
I do want to say that a lot of the short comics were really relatable. As a person with a lot of anxiety some of these really spoke to me. Some just didn't work for me, but that was okay because usually they were only like a page long until I could get to the next one.
I think if you are okay with just having a collection of comics with no real tie-through, then you will enjoy this book. I think I just was expecting something more from this book. It was an easy read, but at the end I just thought, "Meh, okay, I'm done with that." That's not really a reaction I want out of anything I read.
*I received a free egalley copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
I love Adam's comics online, so I was thrilled to see that he has a book of them coming out. We are all Adam in our own way, and I so enjoyed laughing with him in this compilation. A must-read for any 20something trying to find their way.
Adam Ellis makes me laugh.
It is a funny look at the inner most thoughts that so many people with any form of social anxiety feel.
It was very relatable in a self deprecating kind of way.
A fun and fast read.
Really enjoyed it.
I have been a fan of Adam Ellis's webtoon for a very long time. His comics are always funny and relatable and this graphic novel was no different. Fresh, funny and delightful, his work always makes puts a big smile on my face.
As someone who suffers with random bouts of anxiety, reading this was a joy. I loved the realistic but silly ways Adam has described dealing with varying mental ailments.
Super Chill is a lighthearted look at living with anxiety through a humorous larger than life lens. The art style is cute, but the artist isn’t afraid to experiment occasionally which I like. I think the slice of life comics in this collection work better than the ones that are meant to be just jokes because the rhythm doesn’t seem quite right on those. I’ll pribably check out some of his other work in the future.
Oftentimes the artwork was exemplary but I found the storytelling to be just middle of the road for the majority of the collection.
Thanks to Author/publisher for ARC of the book.
The book is not in kindle format and i think its better that way because it would not make any justice to the awesome art/illustrations.
A collection of human behavior a lot of us can connect with...general laziness, procrastination, what vacations really turn out to be are rightly captured. This book is an extremely quick read..30 mins or so but it for sure brings out laughs.
**Thank you NetGalley for letting me read this!**
This book is titled Super Chill: A Year of Living Anxiously by Adam Ellis. I'm a new fan of Mr. Ellis! This book was full of insights, and "I do that, too!" moments put out there in a hilarious way.
Sometimes it's anxiety, not wanting to do social things, and sometimes you just want the tacos more than the workout! I laughed a lot, I mean a lot! I want to read this one over again before it expires.
I have enjoyed Sarah's Scribbles, and this is in the a similar category but for guys. Enjoy!
