I love Debbie Tung's illustrations so much! She is one of my favourite artists. Reading a book about books, libraries, reading passion and other related stuff really made me buy more books and I just wanted to sit and read book(s) for hours.
I absolutely loved it. I highly recommend the book to book lovers :)
This was the cutest little comic book ever! I felt like Debbie Tung made it about me. Every book thought and feeling she drew. Great book for book lovers!
oh my goodness this was ADORABLE.
i saw it on netgalley and thought well that looks like a cute quick read, i don't normally read comics but i figured what the hey. and i'm so glad! i was only a few pages in when i started messaging friends to go grab it from netgalley.
there were so many little things i agreed with (and a couple i didn't, i dog ear books yes i'm a monster and don't care about movies or movie covers, i love that they are appealing to different audiences - also, no-one ever asks to borrow my books lol). a few things made me a bit emotional, like the 'once a reader, always a reader'.
there's really not much else to say, i thought this was adorable and would make such a good christmas gift for book lovers in your life - i wish it came out before christmas! i'll just have to buy it for birthdays instead.
What an adorable book this is!! Debbie Tung is one of us!
Books can truly take us to magical places. The comics are cute and relatable. Even though I don't buy books often (trying to be a minimalist and all), I do share her love for all the hardcovers at the local libraries.
A cute book for all the book nerds!!
“By living a reading life, I live many lives at once”
I absolutely adored this book. It was so relatable and cute and funny and the drawings are simply gorgeous!
A must read for every bookworm.
This collection of comics is a perfect gift for the book lover in your life. They'll find themselves nodding as they recognize themselves in every one of these comics that celebrates and gently pokes fun at how much we'd all rather be reading at any given moment of the day.
A book about loving books... Of course I would be interested! I liked the art style and the humor of Debbie Tung, and it was fun to read so many situations that I can relate to. I read the book in one sitting, and even if I enjoyed it a lot, I felt like there was something missing. I felt like there were some repetitions of events, and I sometimes lost interest into it. I still loved that she captured so many unique situations in her 4-vignette template, as it was like reading tiny stories one after the other. Overall, it was a good read.
First of all, I want to thank Netgalley and the publisher for providing me with an e-arc of this book in exchange for an honest review. I previously read and reviewed another e-arc written by Debbie Tung, Quiet Girl in a Noisy World: An Introvert's Story, which I really enjoyed and when I saw her new title, I immediately knew I needed to read it.
Book Love is a collection of comics all about reading, buying and loving books. It is definitely a must read for booklovers. While reading the comic, I got the warm and cosy feeling that I always associate with reading a book or watching a movie while being cuddled under a warm, soft blanket with something to drink nearby. I got the same comforting feeling whilst reading Book Love.
Every single page is so relatable and could have been a moment from my own life. I really enjoyed reading Book Love and recognizing myself within its pages. I highly recommend this comic! 5 stars!
The drawings are so cute and funny, I can't wait to see what Debbie Tung draws next!
This series of comics is like a love letter to books. The drawings are simple and effective, and completely relatable. Book lovers will see themselves on each page. **Read via NetGalley
Super cute comics! I think I've read some of these comics on the internet but I've never seen a collection before. Highly relatable comics about books for me. I've been converted to e-books for convenience but I do still love paper books. Very cute and funny comics.
So this comic book for book lovers is perfect for those that understand the sometimes irrational need to be surrounded by books. I grew up surrounded by them and did many of the things illustrated in this comic. From buying more than I needed to dragging them everywhere with me. Good thing I have a kindle now and my adventures are only a click away. Love that this comic captures the book lovers experience. Very accurate.
Thank you Netgalley for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
One of the better one-note, one-topic cartoon collections you could expect to find. Apparently it had a different working title, though – "Preaching to the Converted Already, Volume 1". I guess I come to books to see other people, and not get my own thoughts magnified and confirmed, as I didn't engage with this self-representation quite as much as many other reviewers. Three and a half stars.
One day I would like to meet Debbie Tung because I think she is my sister from another mother.
This graphic novel resonated with me because I adore books and so I loved each one of these comic strips which tell the story of Debbie's love for books.
Just a few rambling thoughts - My favourite page is where she depicts the best places to read because bed and bath are my top two best places to read! When I am out and about I also peek at what other people are reading and I am sure I must look suspicious. I have actually had conversations with perfect strangers about books and it is so good to know that I am not the only one.
Book worm fears? Yes! I hear you my sister!
The only difference between me and my sister from another mother is that my hefty library is also in my kindle! So I take my huge library everywhere!
If you like graphic novels, cartoon strips and books this is definitely one book you should get for your collection.
Great art work, great topic and a lovely volume for those of us who adore books!

Any book lover worth their salt would be crazy to pass on reading a graphic novel like Debbie Tung's Book Love. Much like the titles Sarah Scribbles or Super Chill, Book Love is a series of daily life occurrences featuring the author's sheer and pure love of all things bookish. And she really captures the sense of what it means to be a lover of books. Whether novel, anthology, graphic novel, or nonfiction, there is nothing that compares to the enjoyment readers receive when diving into a book.
Tung's art style is very whimsical though not to the extent I've seen with similar titles. There is a realistic feel to her style while still capturing the wonder that comes with the subject matter. I really enjoyed the blending between her real life vignettes and the vastness of exploring a book's story. As a librarian, I'm quite taken by both the daily stories and art style present within Book Love, so perhaps I'm a bit biased. However, I believe that readers of all kinds will enjoy this graphic novel collection, and I hope they will smile and nods as much as I did while reading it.
Highly recommended.
This book is so relatable and funny! It’s perfect for any bookworm!
I’ve read another book by the same author before, “Quite girl in a noisy world” and ai really enjoyed it, but Debbie Tung gets even better with this one.
Loved this book. The illustrations were cute and fun to look at. I wasn't sure how relatable the book was going to be for me, but as soon as I started reading I could relate to almost every single one.
This is a very warm-hearted, funny and relatable collection of comics about the fun of reading. It would make a great gift for a book lover.
Book Love is a new graphic collection by Debbie Tung. Well known for her gentle comics about daily life and philosophy, this collection is all about books and the bookish life. With an expected publication date in early Jan 2019 from Andrews McMeel, it's 144 pages and available in hardcover format.
The art (see cover) is simple and appealing. The author manages to convey a wealth of emotion and drama with a few lines. I found myself smiling and nodding a lot whilst reading this book.
I could recognize myself in almost every panel. I do take slight exception to her treatment of e-readers however. I -adore- analog books and indeed my house is full to bursting with new and old favorites. On the other hand, I couldn't bear to be without my e-readers. They're indispensable for all the books I don't need to revisit and they take up so little room. If they come up with an 'old book' room perfume, I'll be all set!
Adorable book. This one would make a great gift for a bookish friend.
Four stars, appealing and relevant for anyone who loves books and reading.
First of all thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for the digital copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Review:
This book is an adorable collection of comics about bookworms: our daily struggles, moments of joy, bad habits, etc. It also features some great book recommendations, advice for reading slumps and a list of things book can teach all of us.
It’s been raining all day here and I was browsing some books on Netgalley and as soon as I saw this book I recognized the author's style and immediately downloaded it! Then I decided to procrastinate with my homework and read this cute and heart-warming graphic novel by the lovely author Debbie Tung!
Debbie Tung is an illustrator and also author of the book "Quiet Girl in a Noisy World". I know her from her instagram @wheresmybubble where she posts short, funny and lovely comic-illustrations about her everyday life.
I literally devoured this book while sipping a cup of tea in this cozy and rainy day.
As a book lover I related to all of the scenarios illustrated and literally smiled the whole time while reading this adorable book.
The illustrations have a very recognizable style that I love even if I expected the comics to be more “tidy and neat” for the book.

I don’t read comics or cartoon books, but I saw this had so many positive reviews that I felt I couldn’t pass it up. I swiftly read through it in one evening and I was laughing at how closely I related to each cartoon. A pure gem for book lovers. Truly a delightful read with charming illustrations. This would make the perfect gift for other book lovers that you know, as well.
