Book Love is super cute. I was feeling a little stressed, but then I downloaded the ARC of this book and was smiling and relaxed in no time as I flicked through the pages. Any bookworm will find something to relate to in this work. The cartoons are so cute and absolutely spot on. I definitely recognised myself in many of the scenarios. This is definitely a gift any book lover will appreciate.

Perhaps it’s a silly thing to say that I was utterly blown away by Debbie Tung’s <i>Book Love</i>. There’s really no question as to what this book was going to be about, no possibility that I wouldn’t have related to it, and yet I find myself in a place of feeling as though no book has ever truly captured my feelings quite so precisely when it comes to the wonderful books that I’ve grown up loving all my life. <i>Book Love</i> is just so relatable, I feel as though it took a piece of me and turned it into a novel. And I know there are so many others out there who are going to feel exactly the same when they pick this up.

From that annoying friend who always builds your excitement when they mention loving a story only to dash it down when they tell you they love it because they saw the film but have never actually read the book, to the boyfriend who is simply a beautiful wonder as he offers to buy you a book (mine did for our anniversary), every second of this graphic novel fills you with a deep sense of companionship. And really, what more could we ask from the books that find their ways to our shelves? I saw myself in so much of this book and it felt truly wonderful to feel connected to the author as a result.

The love of all things book related is just so deeply ingrained in myself that I could not help falling in love with a book that basically embodies that very feeling in physical format. I’m so glad that I had the opportunity to read this one and you can be certain that come January 2019, I will be buying this book for myself. Perhaps I’ll get it on my birthday since that seems somehow perfectly appropriate. And if you love books, even a little bit, believe me when I say you’ll find yourself among these pages just as I did. And it will feel <i>wonderful</i>.

<i>I received a copy of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.</i>

Someone wrote a cute comic series for this big ol' book nerd. I loved this book so much and it was really relatable. The art style was done really well and went between sweet and simple drawings to pieces that were more elaborately desgined. I can't wait to get my hands on a physical copy of this!

Book Love is a book of comics by the very talented Debbie Tung. It talks about the life of bookworms. It’s very funny and I recognize myself in a lot of the scenes drawn in this lovely little book. The illustrations are really nice. It’s a quick read and would make the perfect gift for a book lover. I’m definitely going to check out Debbie Tung’s other book.

This book is spot on. I identified with most of the scenarios and was nodding and laughing my way through it. I highly recommend it for both book lovers and those who put up with us (so that they can have a slightly better understanding of what drives us and that yes, it is magnetically impossible to pass up a bookshop without peeking in).
It does make me feel better to know that I'm not crazy or alone in my book love.

And I must say, the phone booth library has to be one of the best things I've ever seen.

Thank you, NetGalley and the publisher for the chance to read this comic.

The cover and title instantly drew me in and I immediately downloaded and started reading. I finished in one sitting. An extremely fast, gripping and entertaining read.

Perfect for any book lover, this comic focuses on a readers' love and passion for any and all books. This is a celebration of reading and a humorous portrayal of bookworms in general!

This story also has some stunning black and white illustrations throughout.

Overall, I would highly recommend giving this a go if it sounds like something you would be interested in!

This is a cute collection of book-themed comics. Some are a bit repetitive, but I think a true bookworm would enjoy this and could identify a lot with the main character.

Thank you to Debbie Tung, Andrews McMeel Publishing and NetGalley fr the opportunity to read and review this book. All comments are my own, unbiased opinion.

This cartoon book explores the world of the bibliophile: how they spend great amounts of time not only reading, but thinking about reading. Book lovers collect books, treasure books, and talk about books.
Tung is able to capture the magic of a book lover's life in these pages, and bring a smile to our lips.

Witty, cute and fun! Book lovers will surely be able to identify with this funny comics. With the struggles to keep up with your TBR to that constant trip to the library and bookstore. Some may not be original, but overall I enjoyed it. Perfect for bookworms.

Enjoyable, funny, and relatable just like Debbie's debut, Quiet Girl in a Noisy World. The difference is, this one is specifically targeted towards us bookworms.

There were many pages in this book that made me scream internally, ME! ME! ME! Yeah, many me moments. I would think many fellow book lovers feel the same way. This would be a nice decoration book to add to your book decorations (as suggested in the book).

Recommend to all book lovers out there, which is to say, all people on goodreads.

This is actually a very charming book of cartoons about what it is like to love books, to love reading books, and to love buying books.

Probably would make a perfect gift book for those you know who love books.

The two cartoons below are written almost as though the author had looked in on me. Many times I have though I’m just going to read a little, and spent the next few hours reading. Likewise, when I was done with a story, I missed the protagonists.

This book was SO CUTE! As a book lover myself, I identified with a lot of the scenarios in this book. I also loved the beautiful illustrations. I am not a big graphic novel person, but I wanted a quick read in the middle of all of the chaos that has been my personal life and stressful reading/blog life. Definitely recommend this one!

Think Calvin and Hobbes comic strips or books. Then imagine this as a book.

When this book is out published, I intend to purchase the hardcover. It's that GOOD!

Debbie Tung gets me as a book worm, book nerd, book lover, bookaholic, bibliophile, and bibliomaniac. Debbie SO gets me!

I laughed, nodded with gusto, exclaimed "Truth!", cringed, giggled, and you name it.

I love love love love this book with a passion! This is one of my newest favorite books of all time and it WILL be on my real bookshelf!

For those who LOVE books, you have got to read this. You will relate to some, most and all of the book. For me, it was ALL!

I was having a bad day and then I heard that this book of comics about books was available for review from NetGalley and downloaded it. Did I mention I am now having a great day? The comics were so relatable and any booklover should enjoy this. Yes, I have seen some of these as memes before. Do I care? No. I have found my people, my book people.

Enjoyed the wonderful illustrations and situations that represented book love. This is definitely a book for those who already adore reading. I would consider buying prints of the pages to give to my book-loving

What a wonderful book for readers! I related to every single page!

These are illustrations about the author's love of books. It depicts anything from book recommendations (Harry Potter, Maus, Persepolis, etc) to ways to arrange books (on my bookshelf is grouped by genre and then ordered by color).

It also has suggestions on how to get out of a book slump, different types of libraries,  book formats, and much more.

It was an absolute delight to read and I had a smile on every page. Highly recommend it to all book lovers.

I feel attacked by this book with how relatable absolutely everything in it is, like, am I secretly the main character?? Feels like it. Any bookworm would LOVE this book (I mean, it's a book, so obviously, but it's also the story of our lives!!). Would recommend everyone I know (aka, my family, friends, neighbors, friends of friends, family's friends, EVERYONE) to read it.

A fun collection of comics for the most hardcore of book lovers. It definitely showed quite a few scenarios that I have a hard time finding others that relate to me on, which was a lot of fun.

Book Love is perfect for any book lovers out there. Debbie Tung is a girl after my own heart – using comics to talk about her obsessive book buying habits, sorting shelves, the protectiveness over a well loved book, and all the other quirks well known to us that adore our books. It was almost painful how accurate some of her illustrations were. Though they’re still incredibly funny!
You may recognize some of the images – Debbie Tung’s work have been known to go viral. Or at least, they have in the book communities I’m in (and that’s what really counts here, right?). She has a website that you should check out if you enjoyed this book (with more comics on it!).
This would make a really cute gift to a book loving friend, or you could just buy it for yourself and add it to your book hoard. I won’t judge.

Book nerds rejoice! Debbie Tung doesn’t just understand us; she’s one of us! Debbie first drew scenes from my life in her debut ‘Quiet Girl in a Noisy World: An Introvert's Story’ and now she’s gained access to the bookish part of me which, let’s face it, is pretty much all that’s left once you take away the introvert part.

This is my second (but not final) read of this graphic novel and once again Debbie’s nailed it. Her illustrations perfectly capture the bliss of escaping into a book, the allure of a book sale, the horror of finishing a book and knowing you have to wait a whole year before you can dive into the sequel, and the special kind of magic you experience when your book order arrives. Debbie explores bookish nightmare of a favourite book being massacred by its film, the horror of price sticker residue and the devastation you feel when someone ruins the end of the book you’re reading.

Debbie talks about how we read, where we read, why we read, and I don’t think I’ve ever felt so understood. Every turn of the page resulted in validation of my bookish experiences. There was only one page I was glad I couldn’t relate to - when you have to choose between books because you’ve reached the maximum amount you can have on loan at any one time from the library. Thankfully my wonderful librarians consider the loan limit a suggestion, not a strict rule, where I’m involved; just one more reason why my library is the best in the world!

I cannot get enough of this book and only wish it had been several hundred pages longer. I wonder what part of my life Debbie is going to tackle next… Whatever it is, I need to read it immediately!

Thank you so much to NetGalley and Andrews McMeel Publishing for introducing me to Debbie with ‘Quiet Girl’ and giving me the opportunity to remember why I need every book she ever publishes.

''When i open a book, I open a window into another person's world. It becomes a truly magical experience. There's nothing else quite like it''. This quote sums up how every reader feels about reading. Every book lover can relate to each page and illustration about how much we love reading and all the things we think when it comes about books. Funny and sweet, this book is really enjoyable if you love books so much.

If you are reading this, you love books. So welcome! This is a story about you.

Get yourself a nice cup of tea, maybe your favourite blanket and get comfortable as Debbie Tung proceeds to open your mind and use its contents into this little comic book.

With a simplistic but effective art style and as few words as possible this charming book brings onto the pages the quirks and mannerisms of that strange creature that it is the book lover. From the insatiable need for new reads, the search for that perfect reading pose or to the extends we push ourselves to insert reading time on our ever busy schedules, this books touches upon it all.

A must have for that moments when we just need something funny to warm up the soul.

Debbie Tung is a cartoonist and illustrator who shares her love of reading in this delightful collection of cartoons that would be a perfect gift for any book lover, including yourself. In page after page of drawings and dialogue, I got everything she depicts from not being able to resist a bookstore you walk by to times when you’d just rather stay home and read. She even gives advice on how to read more and shares some of her favorite books, some of which are mine too. I just have to share the bubble dialogue from two of my favorites.

Girl: “Excuse me. I’d like to exchange this book you sent me for this one instead.”
Guy(store clerk): “Oh, yours has an updated cover with the movie poster. But really, they’re the exact same books.”
Girl: “No...No they’re not.”
***************************************

Guy: “You finished reading your book ?”
Girl: “Yeah.”
Guy: “How was it ?”
Girl: “It was really sad.”
Guy : “Oh no. I guess you didn’t like it ?”
Girl: “Are you kidding ? I LOVED IT !”
********************************

This one wasn’t sad, but I LOVED IT !

5 stars.

How could this book be anything less than 5 stars! Debbie Tung has yet again produced another amazing little graphic novel, and just like her first book, this too is just pure love! Every single page of this was so identifiable. Bibliophiles around the world will laugh, smile, nod in agreement with each page of this book, as it accurately shows just what the true love for a book is all about.

I just wish this was available to buy now as I NEED to add it to my collection.

Well done Debbie! Again another marvelous book! Keep them coming!

I am a fan of Debbie Tung's work and this particular title, Book Love, spoke directly to me as a book lover. Not just a voracious reader but a lover of books, the physical objects themselves.

Most book lovers, as described above, will see themselves in many of these comics. People who are mostly readers while liking books won't be left out since the comics span the range of definitions of book love. In fact, friends and relatives of readers and book lovers will get a kick out of these since it lets them know that their loved ones aren't strange, well, aren't alone in their strangeness.

I also admit that books like this will usually get 5 stars from me for a couple reasons (and if they don't get 5 stars they will likely get 1 or 2). The main reason, and the only one that I will mention, is that they are usually straightforward about what they are and they deliver it. If a reader looks at a couple of comics, or is familiar with the author, then they will be satisfied with the book. My ratings are only part whether I like or dislike a book. It is also about whether I think the book delivers on what it promises. Collections of comics by known writers/illustrators rarely have a disconnect between promise and what is delivered, so 5 stars for most.

This book will especially speak to readers and book lovers, we have some of the same idiosyncrasies and are also aware of how many people look at us. So when these comics poke fun at both ourselves and those looking at us like we're nuts, we can't help but nod and laugh. And share them with everyone we know.

4★
"The book I'm reading is about a magical world of dragons and wizards! They go on adventures and explore unknown places! And then at the mansion in Hertfordshire, a wealthy man and Mr. Darcy...Oh, wait...that's a different story."

"You're reading two books at the same time again, huh?"

GUILTY! But it does make for some wonderfully imaginative what-ifs! This little book of simple drawings of a young woman wearing a hoodie, happiest with a book and a mug of tea (with teabag) at her side, is a delight for booklovers.

Some are funny, some are poignant, and some hit so close to home that you DO feel like shouting GUILTY! [Some are a bit repetitious, but really, who cares?"

I'll share a few pages to give you an idea. It is being published in January 2019 and is currently a Read Now at NetGalley by Andrew McMeet Publishing for NetGalley reviewers (all of whom will relate to this charming little reader).

These are all me (well, a lot younger). It will make a great gift for readers.

I absolutely fell in love with this book and like many other book lovers I felt as if it was written about me. It is full of humour and a deep affection for the book. Some of the situations may seem a little extreme to those who are less fixated by the book, but for may people it will have them sighing with a contented "me to" as they remember that there are many other people who share their love of the written word. What a fantastic present for the book lover in your life, or maybe just another one for your own collection

Okay so Andrews McMeel Publishing is make me happy again.  Last week I reviewed loading penguin hugs which I got because I needed a pick-me-up.  I still be feeling a bit under the weather and so when I saw comics about book lovers, I had to immediately read them.

Debbie Tung is definitely one of me crew (even if she has no idea who I be).  She be me guru and spirit animal.  Her comics perfectly reflect book love, introversion, and habits that arise from the two.  An example of her comics (from her website):

This adorable collection is 144 pages of book fun.  All the crew should read it.  Ye can pre-order now.  Don't worry I will also remind the crew closer to publication day if ye currently be short of gold.  I just know that I am glad I found this author to brighten me windy and stormy nights.  Arrr!

This is a book that is definitely right up the alley of any bibliophile (and would make an excellent gift for any book lover in your life).

However, even as someone who both loves nothing more to curl up in a corner with a good read and is also a professional librarian, I will say that I don't think this is a comics collection that should be read all the way through at once. There is only so much humorous praise for books that I could take before it honestly ended up being too much for me, and I actually ended up reading "Book Love" in three installments over the course of two days. This book is probably best utilized as a nice break for when one is working their way through heavier reads.

This collection of cartoons would be an ideal gift for the book lover(s) in your life, including yourself. I don't read a lot of comics these days, but when a friend told me about this title I just had to check it out for myself! And I am so glad that I did, because I really enjoyed flipping through and seeing some of my own personal bookish quirks immortalized. Tung's artistic style is lovely as well, and you can tell that the author has captured what it is like to be a bookworm because she is one of us.

This is one that I'm sure every book lover will adore. Book Love is a collection of comics that depict what it is like to be a book lover - from incognitio sniffing a new book to being beckoned by your TBR when you are trying to work to going into the bookshop for ONE book and being sidelined by the sale display. Honestly, every page brought a smile to my face at how relatable the comics are. Honestly I was having a bad day and reading this made my day a little brighter, so thank you for that. This is a love story to and for book lovers, and I highly recommend it!

Many thanks to the publisher for providing me an eARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

What a cute, fast read! This is an entire book with comics dedicated to everything a book worm goes through. It was so relatable and I feel like if you're a book lover of any kind that you'll find something you've thought/done in this book! My biggest takeaway was that it focused on not just the buying aspect of reading. It also touched on libraries a lot and borrowing from people and I feel that's so important as sometimes it can feel like a lot of "relatable" bookish moments relates to only buying books. The drawings/comics were also very cute. I would totally read this again as a quick, cute read and would rec it to anyone who loves reading!

Are you a bookworm? Can you not resist a bookstore? Do you try to squeeze reading time into random bits of your day? Do you agonize over which books to take with you? Would you rather stay home and read than do… well, pretty much anything else? Oh boy, do I have the graphic novel for you.

As an avid reader, this book is extremely relatable. I definitely had a few “IT ME!” moments while reading this (I’ll leave it to you to figure out if the “I stayed up all night reading” panel above was one of them). My only quibble was that most of the love focuses on physical books, so if you’re primarily an ebook reader like me, there’ll be some comics that don’t work quite as well. Reading the panel about trying to decide how many and which books to pack for a short outing did bring me back to ye olden times before ereaders, though.

Most of the book is single-page comics, usually about a particular bookworm concern, from finding out the next book in a series isn’t coming out for a year to realizing you’re at the limit for library checkouts. These are quick, humorous, and very enjoyable. There’s also some lists – different types of libraries, ways to store books, and ways to get out a reading slump, among others. I didn’t care for these as much, except for the wonderfully illustrated list of the author’s recommended books. My favorite part, however, is the beautiful full-page illustrations.

I absolutely love the style. It’s all done in black and white, with a sort of pen on watercolor feel. The main character, a pony-tailed woman, is incredibly expressive, whether she’s crying over finishing a book or excited at her new haul of books. I loved some of the pages so much that I actually stopped reading to go check out the author’s website to see if she sells prints (alas, it seems she doesn’t). I wish some of these were done in color as I think they’d be stunning!

Overall, this is an enjoyable read for any book lover. I’m actually a bit sad this is coming out after the holidays as this would be a great gift for several friends, but there’s always next year!

This collection of comics is absolutely fun to read. They are very much relatable and I was shouting all along to how much similar it was in real life. The book is definitely a treasure for book lovers in general. I wish there were post cards for all the comics that were listed in the book because the illustrations were accurate and very cute. Looking forward to much more form Debbie Tung!!

How not to love a set of feel good comic strips about books and being a book lover?
Debbie Tung, with this lovely Book Love that book lovers all around have the same quirks, and it´s awesome.

The only caveat of this books is the narrow reality that encapsules: a reality of easy access to books, libraries and bookshops.

Read my book thanks to NetGalley, in a digital form. I don´t know if that (it´s a galley) has to do with the fact that the drawings had shadows, not included in the originals.

This book made me feel nice and warm and cosy. I switched to an ereader a few years ago and now I realise how much I miss the smell and feel of a physical book. I'm going off to sniff a bookshop.

I loved Tung’s first book about life as an introvert, and didn’t realize she had a new one coming out. Once again, she excels as conveying the emotional perspective she is portraying - in this case, that of a book lover. Very cute illustrations in this collection of comics about being a bookworm. I do wish she’d included more about libraries instead of the emphasis on book stores at the start. I found myself bookmarking several pages that I especially identified with. Some of the full page illustrations are absolutely incredible. Perfect for any book lover or person trying to understand a book lover.

This book is full of completely relatable cartoons about a book lover, so of course I loved it! I recommended it to all bibliophiles.

A simple, but simply amazing book that perfectly portrays the strange quirks of a book lover. On almost each page I was able to agree: 'Yes, that could be me!'. While the scenes captured in the comics are unexcited and mostly unsurprising, it was a pleasure to find them collected in one place here. It felt like reading a book about myself, which I'm sure most book lovers will experience the same.

Thank you Debbie Tung for putting our lives to paper.

These drawings were so cute. I found myself constantly chuckling to myself and reading them to my husband.

*Buying a book I already have because it has a beautiful cover.
*Not wanting a book that has the movie tie in cover.
*Having an ever growing "to-read" book pile.

I loved it!

First let me thank Netgalley for an advanced digital reader copy. Next let me say, OMG this graphic novel made it to my 2018 Favorites List! This book is Me! This book describes Me! This is just how I feel about books and everything about them. If you love to read, you "Must Read" this book. I can not recommend it more. This is for all the book lovers and fangirls/fanboys in the world! The story of books is amazing as well as the illustrations!

This is a charming book filled with funny and cute comics about book lovers. I'm sure every book lover will relate to each (or almost) comic. This would make a great gift for someone as well.

As a constant reader, sometimes I feel like I am alone in the universe( when everyone else at work is talking about what they binge-watched on Netflix all weekend & I have no idea what to say) with my TBR pile. None of my friends love books as I do and Book Love made me feel like Debbie Tung either wrote this just for me(doubtful) or that I am indeed just one of many with quite a few books loving thoughts and quirks.
Before my Kindle, I always had an extra suitcase full of books when I went on vacation. I always shared them with others and thought that empty suitcase would be used to bring home souvenirs(not, because other book lovers on vacation love to share too). Clothes shopping, not if there is a bookstore nearby because really, do I need more clothes? Don't ask the obvious, of course, I need more books! These comics all just made me smile and feel good and I am not sure if I could ask for anything more.
A great gift for a book lover and if I see any shirts or totes that tie in with this book, chances are I will be sporting some fun Book Love graphics.

This is a short but sweet comic that's essentially a love letter to all book lovers, and I can't stop smiling about it. The art is simple but stylish, and some of the full-page spreads are downright gorgeous.

Book Love By Debbie Tung is a graphic novel which perfectly illustrates what it means to be a true book lover. While not telling a story the characters in this graphic novel illustrate what it means to eat, breathe, and be truly in love with books 24/7 365 days a year through a series of heartwarming and hilarious individual panels.

While reading this graphic novel I kept saying “This is so me!” and running over to show my husband, who would then laugh out loud in agreement. The next page would include something I just had to show my twin daughters because it perfectly illustrated why we are never on time for car loop every morning...they have to stand there and debate which book they want to take with them to read in the car and at school, and whether or not they are close enough to finishing their current read to warrant bringing a back up book. This book also illustrates the perils of being book obsessed and what all of us book lovers fear most, lending out books, damaging books, having to pick just one book as our absolute favorite.
This graphic novel is an absolutely adorable collection of comics that I felt could have been based on my life, and I am sure every bookworm out there will feel the same way. This is something that all book lovers are going to want to check out! Thank you to Andrews McMeel Publishing and Netgalley for this free Advanced Reader’s Copy.

Every reader, passionate about books, in love with each new story that the book brings, be readers of physical or e-book copies will relate to the comics; it's almost as if my life had been plagiarized in the best of ways.

As an avid reader, I strongly recommend the reading, as well as hopefully as soon as possible, some publishers here in Brazil announces that they have purchased the publishing rights here in the country.

Undoubtedly, this is one of the best comics to have on the shelf and to present those who have tastes as peculiar and wonderful as any bookaholic. With traces simples but well-detailed scenes, the feeling is that Debbie Tung doesn’t just understand us; she’s one of us!

If you are a book lover this is the comic for you. I don't know how many times I laughed, groaned, and nodded my head as Debbie Tung went through all of the different scenarios, events, and thoughts us book lovers have. The drawings are quirky and fun and I love the fact that they are all in black, white, and grey. Some of the aspects really hit home as what it means to have books change your life and the way you view the world after joining the world of readers! I highly recommend this book!

A sweet book, and a quick read. As a reader, I found myself recognizing so much and saying, “You too, eh?” As a bookseller, I brought my own baggage and reacted to a couple questionable book buying practices that I couldn’t get past. For example, there were a couple cartoons in a row that had a narrative in which she receives a book in a package and then I swear she tries to exchange it in a brick and mortar bookstore. But at its heart,, and there is a lot of heart, it really is a book for book lovers, and those are some of my favorites.

I can relate to this book on a spiritual level. Book Love is a collection of comics, mostly four-panel one-page strips, but there are some stand-alone drawings mixed in, and they are all about books. It's basically Sarah's Scribbles, but this socially awkward heroine is obsessed with books. Such a tragedy that this book is coming out in January 2019... it would make a perfect holiday gift for any book lover!

I received this book in exchange for an honest review which has not altered my opinion of this book.

Oh my goodness! This book was so freaking adorable and I whipped through it. If you love books then be on the lookout for this one!! This takes everything that we think about as bookworms and puts it into a really creative and fun cartoon. I found that I really identified with it. I can't help but recommend this book to every bookworm that I have met.

Overall, this book was so much fun and incredibly enjoyable for me and I feel it would be for any bookworm or a person who knows a bookworm. I'm still trying to get my boyfriend to read it. 5 out of 5 from me!

So much of this rings true to me as a fellow bibliophile. Two of my favorite quotes from this book are:

"Why I Read . . . I read to learn new things. I read for ideas and inspiration. I read for enjoyment and happiness. But above all, I read to escape from the real world"

and

"When I read I'm in a world of my own."

The illustrations are delightful and perfectly match the words on the page. This is a fast and fun read! Book Love will appeal to all book lovers!

Welcome to a wonderful book lovers book, that can be read in one day. Appropriately titled "Book Love". Debbie Tung, an artist and cartoonist, melts the heart of any person who loves books and loves to read. On almost each page you can see yourself or a situation you have been in.

Short in length. long in smiles, this is a book that should not be missed. Lighthearted, engaging, and full of what we love most - books!

This is a nicely done collection of comics all about books. There are definitely some relatable moments here for anyone who loves books and reading! The illustrations are well-done, and I particularly enjoyed the occasional full-page frames -- the detail and depth in those is just amazing.

As I flipped through this book, I couldn't help but think that the format and style of these would be well suited to one of those page-a-day calendars. You could easily enjoy the comics in this book either in small doses (which is probably why I think they'd be well suited to a calendar) or in a long sitting. Overall, I enjoyed this title a lot!

If you are a book lover -- wherever you are a book blogger, bookstagrammer, booktuber or just some one that plain old loves books, this book is for you! Some of these comics are also probably very familiar to you, since I know that I have seen at least two of these short comics before reading this collection. Tung's comics seem to be very popular on the internet, so you are probably very familar with her work. This book is pretty much designed for people who love books, as it's basically a love letter to books and the people that love them. Debbie Tung is our people, and she really gets the life of being a book lover.

This is short book that is a quick read, I literally read the majority of it during my lunch break at work. If you are looking for a short and sweet book to read, I recommend this one. Especially if you are looking for something lighthearted to make you feel good.

Tung really captures what it's like to be a book lover, and how much we horde books so much! Some of the panels, like one where there is a argument between ebooks vs. print books, I didn't really agree with, but it's not done in a nasty way, but in a touch-in-cheek way. Personally I love all book formats, but I know there are other readers that are physical books or death, so maybe they will love that particular panel!

This one filled me with such warm and fuzzy feelings, I highly recommend it for any book lover out there!

Debbie Tung is a book lover~ not just a casual one but an avid lover. hahaha

If you have ever struggled to explain your love of books to someone, no need to stress, this book does a wonderful job of it.

Debbie's comics capture multiple aspects of what is is to be a lover of reading and book *ahem* collecting. This book made me laugh and relate on all levels. For half the comics I caught myself nodding in agreement like an inside joke.

If I ever meet Debbie in real life, based on this book, we'll have lots of things to talk about. We could even go to the bookstore and read for hours to become fast friends. LOL

This book comes out in January 2019 and it's going to be an automatic buy for me. Support authors, artists, and (always) fellow book worms. <3

OK, I just want to know how the author crept into my brain to write this graphic novel about book love. Thank you to @netgalley and @andrewsmcmeel for the review copy of Book Love by Debbie Tung!! This book is hilarious, relatable, and entertaining. It’s the life of a book lover told through adorable black and white illustrations. So many of the ideas pictured I have experienced in my own life—reluctance to loan out a beloved book, picking up too many books at the library, reading in awkward social situations, and finding it the book you ordered was the dreaded movie poster edition! I loved this book! It is a must read for anyone who’s packing multiple books in their vacation suitcase! This book will be released January 1, 2019!

My Rating: 4.5 out of 5

Review:
This book is an adorable collection of comics about bookworms: our daily struggles, moments of joy, bad habits, etc. It also features some great book recommendations, advice for reading slumps and a list of things book can teach all of us.

It’s been raining all day here and I was browsing some books on Netgalley and as soon as I saw this book I recognized the author's style and immediately downloaded it! Then I decided to procrastinate with my homework and read this cute and heart-warming graphic novel by the lovely author Debbie Tung!

Debbie Tung is an illustrator and also author of the book "Quiet Girl in a Noisy World". I know her from her instagram @wheresmybubble where she posts short, funny and lovely comic-illustrations about her everyday life.

I literally devoured this book while sipping a cup of tea in this cozy and rainy day.
As a book lover I related to all of the scenarios illustrated and literally smiled the whole time while reading this adorable book.

The illustrations have a very recognizable style that I love even if I expected the comics to be more “tidy and neat” for the book.

Specific Ratings:

Book Love is a new graphic collection by Debbie Tung. Well known for her gentle comics about daily life and philosophy, this collection is all about books and the bookish life. With an expected publication date in early Jan 2019 from Andrews McMeel, it's 144 pages and available in hardcover format.

The art (see cover) is simple and appealing. The author manages to convey a wealth of emotion and drama with a few lines. I found myself smiling and nodding a lot whilst reading this book.

I could recognize myself in almost every panel. I do take slight exception to her treatment of e-readers however. I -adore- analog books and indeed my house is full to bursting with new and old favorites. On the other hand, I couldn't bear to be without my e-readers. They're indispensable for all the books I don't need to revisit and they take up so little room. If they come up with an 'old book' room perfume, I'll be all set!

Adorable book. This one would make a great gift for a bookish friend.

Four stars, appealing and relevant for anyone who loves books and reading.

This book is so relatable and funny! It’s perfect for any bookworm!

I’ve read another book by the same author before, “Quite girl in a noisy world” and ai really enjoyed it, but Debbie Tung gets even better with this one.

Any book lover worth their salt would be crazy to pass on reading a graphic novel like Debbie Tung's <i>Book Love</i>. Much like the titles <i>Sarah Scribbles</i> or <i>Super Chill</i>, <i>Book Love</i> is a series of daily life occurrences featuring the author's sheer and pure love of all things bookish. And she really captures the sense of what it means to be a lover of books. Whether novel, anthology, graphic novel, or nonfiction, there is nothing that compares to the enjoyment readers receive when diving into a book.

Tung's art style is very whimsical though not to the extent I've seen with similar titles. There is a realistic feel to her style while still capturing the wonder that comes with the subject matter. I really enjoyed the blending between her real life vignettes and the vastness of exploring a book's story. As a librarian, I'm quite taken by both the daily stories and art style present within <i>Book Love</i>, so perhaps I'm a bit biased. However, I believe that readers of all kinds will enjoy this graphic novel collection, and I hope they will smile and nods as much as I did while reading it.

Highly recommended.

One day I would like to meet Debbie Tung because I think she is my sister from another mother.

This graphic novel resonated with me because I adore books and so I loved each one of these comic strips which tell the story of Debbie's love for books.

Just a few rambling thoughts - My favourite page is where she depicts the best places to read because bed and bath are my top two best places to read! When I am out and about I also peek at what other people are reading and I am sure I must look suspicious. I have actually had conversations with perfect strangers about books and it is so good to know that I am not the only one.

Book worm fears? Yes! I hear you my sister!

The only difference between me and my sister from another mother is that my hefty library is also in my kindle! So I take my huge library everywhere!

If you like graphic novels, cartoon strips and books this is definitely one book you should get for your collection.

Great art work, great topic and a lovely volume for those of us who adore books!

So this comic book for book lovers is perfect for those that understand the sometimes irrational need to be surrounded by books. I grew up surrounded by them and did many of the things illustrated in this comic. From buying more than I needed to dragging them everywhere with me. Good thing I have a kindle now and my adventures are only a click away. Love that this comic captures the book lovers experience. Very accurate.

First of all, I want to thank Netgalley and the publisher for providing me with an e-arc of this book in exchange for an honest review. I previously read and reviewed another e-arc written by Debbie Tung, Quiet Girl in a Noisy World: An Introvert's Story, which I really enjoyed and when I saw her new title, I immediately knew I needed to read it.

Book Love is a collection of comics all about reading, buying and loving books. It is definitely a must read for booklovers. While reading the comic, I got the warm and cosy feeling that I always associate with reading a book or watching a movie while being cuddled under a warm, soft blanket with something to drink nearby. I got the same comforting feeling whilst reading Book Love.

Every single page is so relatable and could have been a moment from my own life. I really enjoyed reading Book Love and recognizing myself within its pages. I highly recommend this comic! 5 stars!

The drawings are so cute and funny, I can't wait to see what Debbie Tung draws next!

Books can truly take us to magical places. The comics are cute and relatable. Even though I don't buy books often (trying to be a minimalist and all), I do share her love for all the hardcovers at the local libraries.
A cute book for all the book nerds!!

i saw it on netgalley and thought well that looks like a cute quick read, i don't normally read comics but i figured what the hey. and i'm so glad! i was only a few pages in when i started messaging friends to go grab it from netgalley.

there were so many little things i agreed with (and a couple i didn't, i dog ear books yes i'm a monster and don't care about movies or movie covers, i love that they are appealing to different audiences - also, no-one ever asks to borrow my books lol). a few things made me a bit emotional, like the 'once a reader, always a reader'.

there's really not much else to say, i thought this was adorable and would make such a good christmas gift for book lovers in your life - i wish it came out before christmas! i'll just have to buy it for birthdays instead.

Debbie Tung doesn’t just understand book lovers, she is a book lover. I really enjoyed this quick read of Debbie's thoughts about everything to do with books and reading such as: how we read, where we read, why we read, and how we feel about books. Her illustrations perfectly capture the emotions we have when reading, stumbling across a book sale or a book we had forgotten about, the anguish when you finish a book on a cliff hanger, the feeling you get when you watch a movie based on a book and find out they destroyed the story and more. Every page validated one of my bookish experiences, even if it was over the top at times. This book will be in a few packages next year, once it is published.. The publisher, Andrews McMeel Publishing, generously provided me with a copy of this book to read and enjoy. The rating, ideas and opinions are my own.

Debbie Tung has done it again, with another adorable collection of comics about life as an introverted bookworm. The biggest reason I recommend this collection is not only because the art is cute and simply sweet and the stories themselves are fun, but because I think so many book lovers will be able to relate to it!

Whether it's taking a book to a party, staying up all night to finish your current read, or the undeniable pull of a bookstore no matter how many unread books you have at home, I think every bookworm will find something to love about Book Love!

Thank you so much to Andrews McMeel Publishing for providing me with this ARC in exchange for an honest review!

A very refreshing book that will definitely remind you of why you loved books and reading in the first place.

There is no plot, no amazing character, and none whatsoever of those very hard to deduce writing style. This is completely relaxing and I love it!

In my complete assumption, I believe that the main character of the comic is the author. She is so relatable and quirky. I love the simplicity of the art, it made it very easy to follow and none exhausting. Don’t get me wrong I love noisy arts too, but this definitely brings you back to a reading zone.

I am in-love with the book because of how relatable it is and if you are as obsessed as Tung with books, you’ll be laughing your arse relating with all her struggles as a bookworm.

Overall, this is such a simple and charismatic fast read comic compilation about a woman and her love for books.

Book lovers rejoice! At long last, there's a book that's made for us. A book about TBR piles, unplanned excursions to the local bookstore, and that hypnotic scent of an old book.

Debbie Tung proves herself to be a fellow bibliophile in this collection of short comics. Each one could stand on its own, posted on social media or a webcomic site, but they also work quite well together as a group. You can binge it all in one sitting, or spread it out over time. No matter what, you're bound to get hit with some relatable jokes and content. The magical joy of reading really shines through in this book, which will definitely bring a smile to anyone's face.

I'm sure that anyone could enjoy this book, including people who don't really "get" reading, but the intended audience is definitely the readers in the world, like myself, who will relate to every scenario. It's such a wholesome experience to read something that was written for a person like you.

The art style here is simple, which I like. Everything you need to know for a scene is there, and not much else. I appreciate the simplicity, since it doesn't detract from the message of each comic.

There's not much more I can say here! If you like short, sweet comics (usually only 4 panels) about being a book lover, this is definitely something you should pick up in early 2019! I highly recommend it, and I can't wait to pick up a physical copy for myself and some of my other bibliophile friends!

Book Love was so so cute!

The main characters were both adorable, and I loved all the comics, as well as the various arts.

Every part of it was so relatable! From the fright at the "Can I borrow your book?" question to the joy you feel in sharing a good book, everything was displayed so beautifully through the sweet cartoons.

I have so many favourites, but I loved the full page drawings, especially the one at the end.

I picked this book up today because I felt anxious and worried and I needed to get away from it all.

I don't know if this could get more on the nose than that, to be honest.

In this lovely graphic novel, author Debbie Tung shows us what her life - what all our lives- as a bookworm is like. She talks about experiences we've all been through, and reading it all put a smile on my face. A huge, happy smile.

I guess you could say that a lot of what she says is "mainstream" at this point, but the way in which she talks about her experiences- and her unique inky artwork- is what gives the novel a different voice.

If you're someone who loves reading, this book is definitely a must have! The whole book is, to put it in simple meme-able terms of the 21st century- a big frickin' mood xD

I'm so grateful to Andrew McMeel Publishing and NetGalley for this review copy! ❤

I loved Debbie’s Quiet Girl in a Noisy World to pieces. I didn’t think I’d ever read another book that got me so much. Well I was wrong. This book felt like it had a direct path into my head, heart and soul.

Any book lover will love this book and be able to identify with it. Several times while reading I found myself nodding and saying “Yes!” or laughing out loud. It was nice to see that some of the craziness associated with being obsessed with books is universal.

Debbie’s drawings are beautifully simplistic and her use of language superb. She always nails the sentiment she’s trying to convey without being overly wordy. I can’t wait to read more from her.

(Oh, and I NEED the comfy reading chair in the book.)

What a delightful book! Book Love is so relatable and captures many feelings and scenarios I've found myself in as a total book nerd. I actually felt as though the character was me! I found myself laughing out loud as I read through the book at situations I have totally been in myself. Such as going on vacation and taking 10 books with me because I couldn't decide which one I'd read next, so I better have a variety. And the feeling of going into a book store, book sale or library- the sight of the books, touching the books, smelling the books, leaving the store/sale/library with 10 more books that I had planned- oh yes I have totally been there! The pictures were fantastic too- capturing the true expressions and feelings of a book nerd. This is one to read over and over! Thanks so much for the ARC copy!

Debbie Tung is a very gifted artist, illustrator / graphic artist from Birmingham, England whose exceptional gifts are shared in her book of comics, Book Love. This book is sure to appeal to those who love to read. Her illustrations are charming, without being too simplistic or ornate, appealing to all age groups.

For many of us, reading is an essential part of our lives, like eating, sleeping, and Tung shows how well she understands and relates to those feelings in these wonderful little peeks into the life of another book lover. The way you feel pulled into a bookstore that you are walking past, the way a book calls to you when you are tending to real-life things, the way a book can make you feel seen.

This conversation was one of my favourites:

Him: Didn’t you finish reading that book a week ago?
Her: Yeah, I did.
Him: Then why are you still carrying it around?
Her: Um… I don’t know.
Her: I just feel like I’ve bonded with this book so much.
Her: Now that it’s over, I’m finding it hard to let go.

Who doesn’t love to feel understood?

Highly recommend it to all book lovers.

This book chronicles the everyday struggles of life as a book lover with humor and heart, whether the struggle is not enough having time to read, having to choose between reading and having a social life, or having to choose not to spend your whole paycheck at the book store. A very relatable comic for book lovers everywhere!

This was a cute collection of book related comics. Many I have seen online before but a number of them were new to me. As a public library employee and avid reader I really felt like I could see myself in a number of the illustrations.

While other books about books may set a preference in their narrative, Book Love by Debbie Tung is a celebration of reading in whatever form it takes. A slice-of-life comic about book lovers and their many, many habits, this was a joy to read and has the distinction of being re-readable several times over.

Book Love was truly a delight to read. It included not just comics for lovers of physical books, but e-books and audiobooks. As long as it's reading material, this title was supportive of however you want to get the author's words into your brain.

The artwork is very attractive. It has a little variation in style and the encapsulates the emotion of the comic at the moment. From starry eyes to a quiet book nook, the black and white drawings were a lovely choice to highlight a bookworm's life.

There are a lot of scenarios within Book Love that will have a ring of familiarity to readers: bringing books along whenever we leave the house, reading in a quiet nook at a party, not passing up sales that are too good! This will be the perfect gift for any book lover, whether it's one you're passing along or treating yourself to.

This is a great book for all book lovers, no wonder it was called Book Love!
It is a really fast read but it is the perfect book for all the book community specially those who are in a slump or just need a reminder why books are a great thing.

The drawings were simple but pretty and it was very relatable. This can be a gift for all book lovers and I think I will be reading it again and again in the future.

Thanks NetGalley for the free e-book!

This is everything a booklover could wish for in the form of a comic collection. Debbie Tung really hits the nail on the head when it comes to expressing extremely relatable situations and feelings for bookworms. Some of them are slightly exaggerated for humor's sake, but other ones are just as real as they are drawn.

I say that everyone that is passionate about reading and books would enjoy these short comics for sure!

I saw this graphic novel in the Read Now section, and I just had to read it. Being a major bookworm myself, it was too much temptation to say no to!

What an amazing book! A little book full of bookish quirks that I can all too quickly relate to. The illustrations are fantastic, the protagonist is 100% relatable and I feel as though this book is about me!

I will definitely be buying myself a copy, and probably buying it for all of my bookish friends too!

One of my coven sisters, Jon, recommended this title because I was looking for a quick and fun book to finish for our readathon last weekend. I am glad I picked this book.

Book Love is an adorable, funny collection of comics that depict the joy and pain of being a bookworm.

In every page, book lovers can totally relate to each scene because at some point in our lives, we’d been there in the same situations. Like the moments when we can’t decide which book to bring in a vacation so we end up bringing multiple books, when we stay up late at night just to finish “one more chapter,” when we become instant bffs to people whose favorite book is the same as ours, and also when we become emotionally invested in fictional characters.

The cute illustrations give more life and capture the emotions suited in every scenario.

Overall, Book Love is a fast read (I literally finished it in less than an hour) and A funny book that will leave a smile on our faces.

5/5 stars!

This is my second of Debbie Tung's graphic novels and I love it as much, maybe even more, than the first. As a lover of books, she really gets how much books and reading mean to people. Her sketches are so beautiful and also contain the comedies between readers and their books. I can't wait to purchase my own physical copy so I can read it again and so my girls can read it too.

I've seen Miss Tung's art on websites such as Pinterest, Tumblr, and Facebook before, so finding that she has a collection of her book-related drawings is a dream come true for myself and every book lover. Utilizing only the colors black, white and gray, Miss Tung beautifully presents the world of the bookworm and majestically captures the magic of books and reading. There is something that all book lovers will relate to, such as the thrill of entering a library or bookstore, the soul-crushing feeling of a spoiled book ending or a horrible movie adaptation, and generally getting lost in a book (to the point of missing a stop while taking public transit--Oops!).

This book should definitely be on every book lover's bookshelf for gorgeous artwork, the wonderfully phrased thoughts on the power of books and reading, and just the general warm fuzzy feelings that Miss Tung's art has.

Book Love is a collection of book-related cartoons that any book lover can relate to. I have seen a few of these cartoons floating around social media, but I didn't realize they were all by Debbie Tung. She has a knack for putting into her cartoons exactly the way books make me feel. My favorites in this collection include the cartoon about the sequel not coming out for a year and the cartoon entitled “A Bookworm's Essentials”.

Book Love is a wonderful collection of comics that will speak to all book lovers and reading enthusiasts. From libraries, to bookstores, to home collections, bibliophiles will see their favourite source of books represented. This book would make a great gift for avid readers.

This is a gorgeous collection of comics all relating to the topics of books and literary love. The art style is simple but elegant and all the scenarios are highly relatable to fellow book enthusiasts. I am a great fan of this author and loved her previous book about anxiety. Would recommend people check out her work as she is very talented and creates highly relatable and amusing comics.

I can’t tell you enough how excited I was to read this! When I saw the cover I just felt it was something I will totally relate to and I was proven right! Only 10 pages in and I couldn’t stop smiling. It’s obviously written and drawn by someone who loves books, to be read by fellow bookworms. My thoughts in every page were all “I know right!” and “This is so me!”

This is definitely a book I would recommend to every book lover I know. It also has book recommendations, and tips on how to avoid reading slump and get more reading done. The art is so cute and charming.

It perfectly captures all the irony and nuances of being a bibliophile. They really delivered on their promise—I felt so understood and appreciated. It accepts and celebrates all kinds of book lovers with open arms.

A graphic novel that encompasses what it’s like to love books. Depicted in comic style, a variety of bookish topics are covered – favorite books, book formats, bookstores, libraries, and more.

I loved Quiet Girl in a Noisy World, so I was excited to see a new book by Debbie Tung. Even better, this one is all about books and the bibliophiles who love them.

A delightful book. I could relate to so many of the scenarios shown. A perfect read for book lovers. Charming, amusing, and accurate.

Adorable. As a book lover I found this wonderful and relate-able. It's a series of mini comics about what it's like to be a book lover. The illustrations are simple but heartfelt and some of them had me laughing as I could only say "I do that, me too!"
I loved the simplicity and the fellow feeling and it's one of those that you would love to dip into now and again.
Great reading.

When browsing NetGalley I couldn't believe my eyes that Debbie Tung's latest book was there and a Read Now too! I was so excited to start this book though I was nervous that it wouldn't live up to her previous book. I'm definitely glad that it lived up to my expectations.

I fell in love with Debbie Tung's comics when I saw them on facebook. I fell even more in love with her comics when I read her first book "Quite Girl in a Noisy World." Book love has the same feel as Quite Girl in a Noisy world but removes the introvert part and substitutes a book reader instead. I love how much fun this book was. Half the time I was convinced that the author has followed me around. Some of the comics seemed to be taken straight from my life.

I love the illustrations and I love the style the comics are in. It has a simplicity and yet on certain pages, it's complex. I just found myself in awe of Debbie Tung's abilities. This book resonates with me just like her first book but in a different kind of way.

I could definitely see any reader loving this book. It's easy to relate to and so much fun to read.

This review will be posted around December on all the sources mentioned in my blog.

I received this book from Netgalley in exchange of an honest review.

I just HAD to get this book. I am a giant bookworm, and so I couldn't resist a book called Book Love. Plus this cover just shouted at me. That is exactly me, reading between stacks of big books!

And then I started reading and I fell further in love with the book. This author is a giant book worm, just like me! Eep! Every page has a comic/illustration, and I related to all of them. It doesn't happen often that I relate so much to something, but I did with this one. Buying books while needing food? Yessirree. Reading at a party? That is me!

I have to say that apparently I read quite a few of these already, as I recognise most of them. Not sure where I read them, maybe Twitter? Still I had fun reading them again, and also discovering several new ones.

I also had a laugh at when she either accidentally spoiled someone or when someone spoiled her. I know the feelings on both accounts. I always try to keep out of spoilers, but sometimes one can just slip out. And then there is the internet with all its spoilers and people expecting you to just read a book immediately.

The art was pretty decent. I guess it may look better in a book, but on my e-copy it looked a bit blurry and grainy at times.

All in all, a highly recommended book to all bookworms in the world!

Ahhh, reading this made me think of soooo many people, fellow bookish people in the community!

Book Love is literally a great book to gift to give your bookish friends. It is ensnaring, Debbie Tung captures the readers’ heart greatly. Here’s one that sums me up the most.

I know a lot will relate to this book, I did.

Majority of the strips caught my heart so well. From the moment of how reading gets one to the moment of being broke and still manages to sacrifice and buy a few good books to fit in the bag before going home, picking a book, then bring too many books because one can’t decide which or just playing it safe.

Though there is one I felt a wee excluded, I know it’s an ongoing thing, especially to international readers like me. But the library part made me feel that. It tugs my heart. Haha. I wish we had great libraries here.

Overall, it’s a fun and relatable read. And the drawings are totally accurately adorable!

This book is adorable! As an avid bookworm, I connected deeply with many of the comics. Reading is truly a great experience and the author captured the range of emotions associated with reading very well. This book would be an ideal gift for anyone who loves reading! I hope to see more of this author's work in the future as well.

Cartoonist Debbie Tung's book will be adored by bibliophiles everywhere. It's not really a graphic novel. It's more of a collection of thoughts on books and reading with some of them serialized over several pages. It makes a perfect gift for the book lover. I received an electronic copy of the book from the publisher through NetGalley with the expectation of an honest review.

"Once a reader, always a reader."
Every bibliophile should take the time to read this cute and totally relatable graphic novel! Book Love adeptly encapsulates the reader's complex and utterly nuanced affection for books. It's entertaining and light and soooo heartwarming. I feel like I'm more connected to the book community because of this. It kind of reminds me of Little Moments of Love because of its easy format! It's a quick read and definitely a favorite of mine this year.

This really captures the soul of what it means to be a book lover. While reading I was filled with the warmth of sharing an inside joke with someone, knowing they understand even if no one else does. Would be a great book to maybe even loan that friend who just doesn't get it.

This is sheer book-loving perfection! I've followed Debbie's work for a while now and I love it all. Her illustration style is simple but the sentiments of her pieces are for bibliophiles everywhere - young and old; buyers and borrowers, paperback readers and ebook readers. This book is the perfect pick-me-up after a rough day, and would be an ideal gift for a bibliophile. I found myself relating to every page. I highly recommend it.

Book Love is a graphic novel by Debbie Tung. Her illustrations show images we as reader do, say, or think. In this graphic novel she talks about how we read, why we read, where we read.

I really enjoyed this book, I gave it a four out of five stars. I would love to pick up the final copy when its comes out. It was a great fast read I totally recommend it.

Thank you To NetGalley for providing me with the earc.

At places , it was repetitive but the overall charm of the book covers it well.

Firstly I'd like to thank NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this graphic novel in exchange for an honest review. The cover of this comic immediately hooked my interest and the description just screamed 'read me!', so that's exactly what I did and I loved every single page. Often times non-readers find bookworms and book-obsessed people such as myself a little strange and can't really relate, so reading something like this was like reading about myself. I was nodding along, laughing and smiling the whole way through. I related to every single page and just like in the book, now I want my own physical copy of this! It was so good! I especially liked the parts about being pulled into a bookstore to 'just look' and then walking out with 5 new books, and the parts about letting people borrow your books. The anxiety I got on that page when the man asked to borrow her book was very much the same as in real life! Overall, a sweet, cute, funny and highly relatable book that any bookworm would adore. 5 stars!

So very, very true!!!
This is a cartoon book depicting the love for books It describes the life, priorities and thinking of a book lover, it is funny, joyful, understanding and frustrating.
These days many of us have moved to the digital book, but only, either for convenience, or the fact that we have run out of room in our house - but it is true a physical book is special on many levels, some of which a depicted in this book.
A truer word never written!!

Book Love was adorable and spoke directly to my bibliophile soul. It gives tangibility to the feelings I have regarding written materials on a regular basis. It gives weight to the feeling of loss when you finish a really good novel. If you have even a slight book obsession this collection of comics is for you.

My Rating: 5 stars

I absolutely loved this collection of comics about the joys of reading and being a book lover! Every single page resonated with me – as a bookworm, reading this was pure bliss! The illustrations were beautiful and the ones with dialogue were so spot-on to the point that I almost got a neck cramp from nodding my head so often, lol.

This is a book that anyone who loves books absolutely has to read! With the holidays around the corner, this book would make a great gift for the booklover in your life (the minute I finished reading this, I immediately went online and ordered a physical copy for myself).

With all that said, it’s hard for me to pick a favorite comic from this book because I loved all of them alot, so I’m not going to torture myself. All I’m going to say is: READ THIS BOOK…you definitely won’t regret it!

Received ARC from Andrews McMeel Publishing via NetGalley

If you haven't read this yet.... what are you doing with your bookish life??

Okay, Book Love literally describes and illustrates (in a comic book style) all the scenarios you might find yourself in as a bookworm. i.e. something like:

sister: *comes out of bookstore carrying several books*
brother: wait. didn't you just borrow those from the library?
sister: *hugs books close* well yes, but I loved the covers so much that I HAD to have them on my bookshelf. even if they aren't very good.

While this might seem very exposing to some of you (*cough*), I definitely found it SUPER hilarious and extremely accurate. It called for some good + loud laughs and I can't wait to share it with my bookworm friends! I know that I will be on the lookout for more of Debbie Tung's books, and I wouldn't hesitate to purchase this as a gift for a bookworm. 5 stars.

Recommended to any age content-wise.

*FTC DISCLOSURE: I received a free ecopy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. All opinions are my own and a positive review was not required.

This is a cute collection of relatable comics for book lovers. I made my husband read a couple of them. "Look here! I'm not the only one." It's a gift book, so you won't find any revelations in it, but it's a fun little read.

I was looking around on Netgalley for something to read and under the read now tab I found this book Book Love by Debbie Tung the release date isn’t until January 19th but you can read it for free as I did on Netgalley. Book Love will speak to the book work /dragon in you . I couldn’t stop laughing I could relate to every single page the way movies sometimes destroy the book, the fear or lending someone a book to smelling the books in a bookstore. This was a cute little graphic novel that was nice to pass the time with.

Book Love is a sweet and fun graphic novel that perfectly encapsulates what being a book lover is all about. It's filled with anecdotes and quips that are wonderfully relatable as a fellow book lover. While reading this, I kept thinking to myself, "Yep, that's me!" Not only that, it acts as an explanation for those around us book lovers who wonder about our weird habits and quirks. It also has lists and fun tips - different places to read books, how to get out of a slump, and others.

Tung eloquently describes why book lovers love books so much - from the way they act as an escape, to enjoying a beautiful cover. I could relate to every page, and I could easily see myself reading it again and again because of that.

What's not to love?

Debbie Tung has also written and illustrated 'A Quiet Girl In A Noisy World' and together this graphic novel pair make a brilliant gift for any book-lover out there.

Many times I've been tempted to leave this book out just so people were able to understand a reader's quirks or frustrations! And that I'm not the only one who dreams of a day to myself with just my books...

Tung illustrates those often mundane moments we don't give a second thought. For me it was taking ages to select a book before I leave the house! I debate my choices too! A relatable read, and the drawings were as good as I remember fr0m her first graphic novel.

A warm, often funny in Tung's signature exaggeration, collation of small moments or oddities in a fellow reader's life. Whimsy with a dash of hilarious realism: I recommend.

I received this book through Netgalley.

I was not as big a fan of the previous book by the author: Quiet Girl in a Noisy World only because the tone of it was a little heavy. This book on the other hand is what a mind reader would say if they had an opportunity to be around me in the situations highlighted here. It is all about the love for physical books.

I do not have the place to actually own books where I now live (any more than I have already tried to stuff in it , unread) but the essence and the emotion is the same. The name of the book says it all. From the smells, to the behaviour and to everything in between, it is pure recognition that would strike those who hold the same things dear.

It is a fun read and I really enjoyed the experience.

This is a very sweet comic book about book lovers that I think is very relatable for everyone who's an avid reader. It took very little time to get through it, and I enjoyed it, though I wasn't out-of-my-mind-enthusiastic like I first thought. The reason is that I expected something funny, I think. And I don't say it wasn't at all, but it wasn't laugh-out-loud funny. It's more like a 'touché, I do this all the time!' kind of funny. Which isn't a problem, it's just not completely what I expected. That being said, I could relate to most of the bookish quirks illustrated - some more than the others, but even those that weren't so adequate for me I could imagine for other enthusiastic readers they are.
This little book can be a very good gift if given to the right person. I actually have a friend I'm thinking of buying it for.

Book Love by Debbie Tung is a 2019 Andrews McMeel Publishing publication.

This adorable book is about me. This is me- well with a few slight exceptions. But, basically, if your life revolves around books- If you live them, breathe them, inhale them, hug them, collect them, share them, quote from them…. Etc, Etc. - This book is for you.

This book isn’t a story, it doesn’t have a plot, per se. It is basically a special gift for book lovers, a celebration and homage to books and book nerds. The comic drawings are not overly dramatic, but the expressiveness is what jumps out at you. The passion, the defensiveness and protectiveness towards books and our obsession with them, and the familiar frustration with people who just don't 'get it', resonated with me one hundred percent. I laughed so hard at the dialogue because I’ve said or done these things- often. I have had variations of these arguments and conversations and have had the exact same reactions, thoughts and feelings, at one time or another. The only difference for me is that I've been known to hug my Kindle in the same way I hug a print copy book. This happens more and more often now that I really have come to depend on that large font size- but, I understood the sentiment, all the same.

This book is short and sweet and so easy to relate to. You will see yourself in this book and appreciate the nod to book lovers, and may even experience a feeling of vindication, knowing that you are in good company. This book soothes my introverted soul in ways that may make my eyes leak just a little.

What I can say for sure, is that Debbie Tung is my kind of people. I may not know her personally, but I think she may know me.

5 Amazing Book Nerd Stars!!!

This is a book laid out in black and white comic book format depicting the many ways book lovers experience joy with their books. It's as simple as that! Each page has it's own example and message and if you're an avid reader you will relate. Some of the scenarios will cause you to laugh out loud in recognition and some will make your heart swell with joy, as you recognize all the ways in which you love your books. You like the feel of them, the cover art, you inhale that wonderful book smell, and when you walk into a library or book store you feel that euphoric thrill of expectation.

I saw myself in so many of these pages! Carrying a book around with me at all times (now it's thousands on a kindle), curling up with a book and a hot beverage in a comfortable chair or bed, preferring to read a book rather than converse or interact with people. One concept I really identified with is the feeling of travelling in a limitless fashion all over the world through reading. Also, walking into a library and thinking of the millions of stories mined within the treasured binding of beloved books.

When I was reading this, I would periodically laugh out loud and nod my head. It caught the attention of my husband, who never reads books. He asked me what I was laughing about and I told him it was a book that only book lovers would understand. As expected, he walked away in a disinterested fashion. In fact, when I write my reviews for arc's he can't understand why I'm doing it if I'm not getting paid for it monetarily. Then I tell him I AM getting paid for it...in the exchange of my pleasure for just reading the book. Well, he wouldn't understand...but, that's the point of this book, isn't it? If you're a book lover, you will see yourself in this book, and it will make you smile. I especially loved the full-page drawings, and imagined how nice one of them would look hanging on my wall.

Debbie Tung’s art style is charming and these quirky comics will definitely have book lovers going “Hey! Same!!”

This delightful book of cartoons by Debbie Tung popped up a couple of times in my GR feed today, one review mentioning that it had come from NetGalley so I had a peek and, lucky me, there it was as Read Now... oh well if you insist...
This took about 15 minutes but my heart is totally warmed at all the ways she “gets” the true book lover. I found myself nodding internally every other page and wishing someone was here so I could show them - but only a true bookworm will relate... ironically my husband is away for work this weekend, which has turned into a wonderful little staycation of maximal reading opportunities.

This would make a fantastic little present for the readers in your life, I read the ebook but think a paper copy would be more meaningful to most. Unfortunately it doesn’t come out until January, as it would’ve been ideal as a Christmas present, but hey, it could be a late (or very early) one!

Thanks to NetGalley for the free ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Oh my god, if ever I thought an author was watching my life and using it for inspiration, this would be it. This is the perfect portrayal of book lovers in so many different ways. I loved seeing all the different quirks, emotions and habits of book lovers which I can definitely identify with. The flow of the book was quick and fun, often interchanging from humorous to meaningful. The art style was a beautiful sketch style that inserted just enough detail to make each character unique and each setting recognizable.

If you are a book lover or know someone who is a book lover this is a wonderful book to enjoy and share. It captures so much that is true about those of us who enjoy immersing ourselves in reading and books.

Loved loved loved this book!!
I can't express how much happy I am by reading this wonderful piece. It's soo true and relatable and above so beautifully illustrated!! Sooo heart warming and magical though no magic here only the magic of art. A book I will reread!
Wonderful book for a booklover or non- booklover.
I think I can gift this to myself or my bestfriend for sure.

I’ve never read a graphic book before. But how could I resist a book called Book Love? It’s perfect. Anyone that loves books will totally relate to it. It will make you smile, as each page is spot on. Because “every day is a good day for books.” And yes, this is meant for those that read print books. But those of us addicted to our kindles still find plenty to love. Plus, if you’re of a “certain age” you will well remember the years before we had our kindles and the love of entering a book store of a second hand book sale or not having enough shelf space to deal with all the hundreds of books owned.

My thanks to netgalley and Andrew McMeel Publishing for an advance copy of this book.

Oh gosh, what can I say? If you love graphic novels, love stories, and bookstores RUN don't walk to this one. I can't wait to purchase a hard copy of my very own. Thank you for the opportunity to review this book.

Many thanks to NetGalley, Andrews McMeel Publishing and Debbie Tung for the opportunity to read and review this book - I loved it!

A graphic novel all about the love of books - what could be better? I felt like I was talking with someone who understood, who got me, who was a kindred spirit in our love of books. I laughed, I related - I loved this book! Even though I read so much on my Kindle now, there is still nothing like a "real" book. Even though I read this electronically, I have already pre-ordered the "real" book - every book lover will want this book.

Too bad it didn't publish before Christmas because it would be perfect for all book lovers on your list. However, it will be my New Year's gift to myself!

Happy Reading!

A beautifully illustrated love letter to readers and the books they love, as well as the strange habits they develop, Book Love by Debbie Tung is the perfect gift for any reader. No matter what genre you prefer or where you stand on the e-reader versus physical book debate, this book celebrates the joy, magic and even comfort that reading brings to our lives. Prepare to chuckle in reluctant recognition as a fellow booksniffer, as you peruse the simply, yet perfectly illustrated pages that bring an artistic eloquence to a book with few words. Sigh in acceptance as you recognise your book buying habits laid bare for the world , and rejoice that you are not alone. in preferring a night with your favorite book to a night on the town.
I read and reviewed an ARC of this bookworm's delight, courtesy of the publisher and NetGalley, all opinions are my own.

If I had a friend who was a librarian, an author or a book lover, Book Love by Debbie Tung might just make the perfect small gift. It’s a friendly book of black and white drawings, all depicting situations and areas where someone who loves reading might easily find themselves. The sentiments expressed are feelings that have probably been felt by a majority of avid readers over the years, all presented in an easily accessible format.
If you are an avid reader, or know one well, there are bound to be situations and comments that are familiar to you. It’s an opportunity to see your feelings expressed, sometimes in a gentle teasing way and other times just as an illustrated explanation.
For the non-reader, this illustrated book might offer a bit of understanding regarding how an avid reader feels toward books. There isn’t any explanation of why we feel that way, not that there is any needed. Just don’t go looking through it hoping it provides you with understanding. If you are a book lover, you get it; if not, then it will still be a cute illustrated book that shows situations you have seen, although maybe not understood, when hanging out with your book loving friends.

This book is adorable! I read through the entire thing in one sitting. I can't wait to buy copies so that I can share the comics since I know many people in my life are either readers or will recognize how they relate to me. I loved this book. It'd make a great gift for any reader.

Found myself laughing while reading because it’s so accurate! Expresses so well a bookworm, there’s no need for a mirror. The passion, the vices, the worries, the happiness…. Just perfect. And very single page I could relate to me. I loved the artist style.
This book from a bookworm perspective it’s funny because we see the actions we have that became for us as natural as air. But it’s interesting even for those who aren’t so addicted to books, open their minds and show them how the specie bookworm can act, out and in their natural habitat.
Shows something so simple like spend all day reading or other things like the exciting of find the title of the book in the story or just the pain when you lend a book because you love it so much that you fear for their safety.
It’s a cute and enjoyable comic book!

Is there a more relatable book for book lovers on the market? Though I'm sure the answer to that question can be mixed, I will also emphasize how much the cells of the illustrations on just about every page here just felt like home. I could check off all the boxes presented to me: Do you huff books? Yes. Do you hoard books? Yes. Do you bring a handful of books wherever you go just in case you finish the one you're currently reading and aren't sure yet which you want to read next and need to have enough options? YES!

I cannot wait until the rest of the world can share in the pleasure I felt reading this. Debbie Tung's instagram page is a great preview of what's included, but to see the work on the page will be a whole new experience. I mean, as book worms, do we really need an excuse to buy more bookish books? May need to get a hard copy myself. :)

This is the perfect book for book lovers! The author and illustrator has perfectly captured the life of a bookworm in a series of black and white cartoon panels and illustrations. I could definitely agree with her thoughts. The book brought me lots of laughs and was quite a lighthearted diversion on a cold and gloomy day. Recommended for all book lovers. Their families would probably enjoy it and get a good laugh too.

I received this book from the publisher and from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. The opinions expressed here are entirely my own.

This was so sweet and lovely. It conveyed all those little nerdish quirks and I absolutely adored it. The illustrations are perfect for this kind of book and, just, I loved it. Not much more to say, really. I recommend it to every geek, but especially bookgeeks around the world. Even though not all of us can afford to fall for our obsession, I think most of us recognize ourselves in the main character. And perhaps a spouse recognizes their booknerd.

Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for this ARC. This review is entirely my own.

This book..is filled with pretty much a guide for friends that wonder why their bookworm friend can read so much! Ugh I really loved everything about this Comic. It is literally what every bookworm goes through while getting lost in a book. From falling a little bit in love with a fictional boyfriend to winning a long battle with the enemy. The illustrations are so cute and simple but so very very perfect! This is the most perfect book to buy for a friend, a young child or of course yourself!

We are giving the book 5/5 stars because it is perfect in every way!

Book love- I know it well. If you too love books, then this is the book for you!

Author Debbie Tung has created a relatable book of strips that details how bookworms feel about their beloved books. Drawn in black and white within a simple four panel format, the comic showcases a woman obsessed with books (I assume she is based on the author herself) and her understanding husband. So many of the strips hit home for me, as I have loved books since childhood. Libraries have always felt like home, so it comes as no surprise that I am a librarian, surrounded by what I love.

The premise of the book is all about book love, so there is no plot or characterization, it is ALL about loving books and sometimes avoiding interacting with people in favor of the books. Each strip can stand alone. At times the strips become a bit one-note, yet that is the basis of the book. As I do all the social media for my library, I hope some of these adorable strips become available for re-print (with author credit, of course!) because posts on book love are always a big hit at my library.

Thank you to NetGalley for giving me an advance copy; I just wish it was being published a few weeks earlier, so people could scoop up copies to give to the book lovers in their life. So, if you are a bibliophile, this book of comics is for you, and will be available in January 2019!

This was incredibly cute 😍

Book Love is the love letter to all things bookish - books, reading, libraries, bookshops, and especially to us bookworms and bookdragons. It is so cute and so spot-on. Every page felt like home, like it's showing me and my love for books. Debbie's art is beautiful.

I received a free copy of this book from Netgalley, but I am going to buy this book for me as soon as it is published. And then I'm going to buy copies for each of my bookish friends.

Debbie Tung gets me.

[I just went back and read the review I wrote from her first book - <i>Quiet Girl in a Noisy World</i>, and guess what’s there?? <i>Yes! I love it when a book - even better a comic book - puts into words things that have rolled around in my brain.</i> I could write the same thing about this book.]

I just spent this whole book agreeing with every page.

I’m going to a resort this spring with my girlfriend, and the most exciting thing about it is the library!

Some things are funny because they’re funny. Some things are funny because they’re true. This is both.

I love Debbie Tung’s cartoons - I guess mainly because I can relate. If you want to understand the bibliophiles in your life, check this out. If you are a bibliophile this <i>has</i> to be part of your collection.

I discovered Debbie Tung three months ago on Pinterest. After sharing one of her comics on my social platform, I kept getting recommendations for her comics until I finally followed her on Tumblr. I realised most of her comics are book-related and share-worthy much like Grant Snider. She just connects at an inner-level and gets you straight off. You feel like it’s your words, your thoughts, she’s representing on paper.

When Book Love came up for review, I just had to go through it in one sitting. At some point over the last three months, I’ve seen the strips but it still seems as fresh and joyous like you are discovering them for the first time. It’s something every bibliophile would like to hoard and flip through during a reading slump.

Given the holiday season, it’s the perfect book a non-reader can get a bookworm. Trust me, they would hold you in a special light.

I received a copy of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Even though this book is laid out as a comic book, it's just the perfect Christmas, Birthday, Boss Day, etc. book as a gift for serious book lovers like me. I got the impression that Ms. Tung followed me around while I talk to myself about books and more books. That is the main reason I purchased a book store a few years ago, it's life, my life. All off the pages will make you go, "What, that's just what I was thinking?" How can one not know the difference from the original book cover to the one created for the movie? One is the original and other is just freaking sinful. I plan on ordering 10 copies for the store and only order for my serious, serious friends. It’s is the BEST book of 2018.

A collection of short comics centered around the joys, heartbreak, and deep love that readers have with books. Very few offered new insight or "feels" into the bookish world, but does that really matter in the world of book lovers? This is a charming read that will make any book lover feel seen and would be a great little gift for any and all lovers of books to enjoy.

This is my life in pictures. I squee-ed when I saw this book and the title, I really loved reading Quiet Girl In a Noisy World and knew that this title would be just as fun as the last. Book Love is all about being a lover of books and reading and all the quirky things we tend to do. The whole things is in a graphic novel format with loads of illustration. The artist/author does such a good job describing book lovers and loves in these illustrations and had me laughing out load and saying 'yup' a lot as I agreed with the weird things I also do (smelling books, having to go into every bookstore, always needing more books, having issues loaning books out, etc.)

Everything about this was what I needed and wanted. The comic strips are so relatable and down to earth even if a bit odd... we all have our quirks. If you are a book lover or know one, this is a great book/ gift!! I highly suggest it and adore it.

This is the book which every booklover should read. It is funny, its hilarious, it is so unrealistically realistic.
.
Feeling of deja vu; overwhelms the reader and everything seems so familiar and you think subconsciously have done this all.
.
Cartoons are funny, engaging and hit the nail on the head and covers everylife a booklover could live.
.
Emotions arising out of reading books are nicely depicted and you will laugh many times reading it.
.
I loved the book and look forward for more from the cartoonist.
.
Only drawback I could find was little repetition of few themes. Otherwise excellent book for any booklover.

Adorable illustrations and cute comics about the life of a bookworm. If you have any love for books you will recognize yourself in these pages, but there is unlikely to be anything you didn't already know in this book. This book will make you say, "Me too!" or "Someone understands me!" and you will probably recommend it to all your bookish friends to share in these revelations.

It is a compilation of comics, and does not have an overarching plot but that does not detract from it's charm.

Every book lover should read this one. You know the feeling when you wrap yourself in a blanket and curl up on the sofa? This book evokes that feeling in a beautiful way. If a book could be a cuddly teddybear giving you lots of hugs, this book would be it.

I've never related to a comic/cartoon book so completely - ever. This would make a great gift for every nerdy book lover. As a book lover I related to nearly every scenario in the book. The illustrations are adorable too and they are all in black and white. Debbie Tung shows how book lovers can't pass a book store without drooling and buying something; would rather stay home and read than go to a party; would rather lose sleep and finish a book than go to sleep not knowing the ending; and so much more. Lots of fun to read!

Most of the pages hit home and I could see myself doing many of the things the booklover in the comic strip did. I think everyone who loves books would see themselves in the pages.

Thanks to Debbie Tung and Andrews Mcmeel Publishing through Netgalley for an advance copy!

Amusing look into the world of a book lover

I don't read many comics or graphic novels but the title Book Love compelled me to pick it up. I read this in one sitting with the biggest smile on my face. If you are a book lover or know one, this book is the perfect present to yourself or them!

Book Love by Debbie Tung is a fantastic little book for any book lover! I thoroughly enjoyed this one.

The book is a collection of comics that show what life is like for a bookworm. We can all relate to the main character’s exploits in the library and bookshop! The drawings are very cute and well-done. Each shows the main character, Debbie. She visits libraries, bookshops, and reads in her own comfy space. She reads just about anywhere! Each cartoon is a single page and any bookworm will recognize themselves in these pages. I laughed out loud a few times at the situations because I can totally relate.

Very nice, upbeat cartoon series in book form that you will find yourself looking at again and again. I think some of these could be framed and hung on my wall. They appealed to me that much. So, if you are a bookworm like me, you have to read this. Well, we have to read everything, but this one will be something like a mirror, showing you how we look to the rest of the world.

Great stuff! Get this book!

I'm sure other people, upon reading Debbie Tung's first book, [book: Quiet Girl in a Noisy World], had the same thought I did. Debbie Tung could not be more relatable. She could not be talking more about who I am as a person.

Debbie Tung heard us. And her response was <b>challenge accepted</b>.

That first book had comics for us bibliophiles, but this is all Book Love, all day, every day. From the smell of books to the joy of being at home alone with a cup of tea and a good book, there is so much "SAME" that can be shouted at this book. You'll laugh, you'll smile at the warm fuzzies that sink into your soul as you read this wonderful collection of comics she wrote just for us.

This was a graphic novel, 146 pages of comics, illustrations and quotes about a girl who loves books and reading. I loved the main character. I was able to identify with her. I work in a library and love books, reading, book stores and libraries.
My favorite page was page 14 when the main character is sad because she has finished her book. I also liked page 42 when the main character is trying to look at titles of books people are reading. On page 132 the character gets a bit confused because she is reading more than one book at a time. I like to read more than one book at a time sometimes I read three books at the same time.
Every page reminded me of what I love about reading.

Introduction:

When I saw this title over at NetGalley, I was like “What? There’s actually a graphic novel that explores about how much some people love books?” Well, of course I had to check this graphic novel out since reading is my number one passion in the world and I wanted to see if this graphic novel gets my book senses tingling! “Book Love” is a graphic novel that is written and illustrated by Debbie Tung and it definitely earns the reputation of being one of the few graphic novels that actually shows just how important and fun reading is for everyone!

What is this story about?

This graphic novel basically details the love that bookworms have for books such as getting upset when they had just finished a good book, but have to wait a whole year for the sequel to come out. And the exhilaration of smelling brand-new books in the bookstores and also the fact that books can take you to different places that you have never been to before!

What I loved about this story:

Debbie Tung’s writing: Wow…just wow…Debbie Tung has certainly done an excellent job at writing this graphic novel as it is rare that I read a graphic novel that is all about the wonderful world of reading instead of being about superheroes or slice of life stories. I loved the way that Debbie Tung explores what the world is like for a bookworm and how books are so essential in their lives. I just loved the energy and love for reading that Debbie Tung showcased in this graphic novel by using a woman in the lead role and whenever the woman in the story showed excitement for reading, I felt that excitement along with her! There were many different scenarios in this story that really called out to me, such as a situation where the woman in the story went to the bookstore to buy the second book in the series after she finished reading the first book. But then she realizes that the bookstore ran out of copies of the second book and that they would have to order the second book from an online store, but it would take over five days for the book to arrive! Oh man! I remembered those days when I had to wait a long time for a book in a series to arrive in my mail because the bookstore did not have the whole series! I really loved the humor that Debbie Tung incorporated into this book as the woman in this story was the highlight as she was such an excitable and hilarious character who has such an exaggerated reaction to books. But at the same time, is highly relatable to the audience as she shows the same love and joy that bookworms have for books!

Debbie Tung’s artwork: Debbie Tung’s artwork is hilarious and creative to look at as she does a great job at showing the excitement that the woman in the story feels about books! I loved the way that Debbie Tung drew the woman in the story as the woman is constantly being shown with an excited look on her face whenever she comes across books. I especially loved the artwork of the woman having large puppy dog eyes whenever she is experiencing something beautiful about reading. I also loved the artwork for the scenes where the woman is imagining herself floating in space as there is so much attention to detail to the starry skies of space. I liked the fact that the artwork is done in black and white as I still experience the wonderful world of books through the black and white colorings of the artwork.

Final Thoughts:

Overall, “Book Love” is a truly fantastic graphic novel that really speaks out to bookworms everywhere! If you are looking for a graphic novel that details the joy and wonder of reading, then this is definitely the one for you!

A collection of comics that express the sentiments of a quintessential bibliophile.

I have to confess I’ve been reading this slowly in order to savor it as long as possible. I frequently had to ration myself to avoid devouring it too fast. In case you haven’t figured out, I loved this so much. Debbie Tung is able to express in images and a few short words so many book lover highlights and feelings and foibles and moments of triumph. I may have to get multiple copies of this for our library, and I would love to find poster-size copies of many of these comics to hang up. If you know a book lover, get them this book. They will love you for it.

No content issues.

A witty comic about what it means to be a reader and book lover. With whimsical scenarios and a relatable main character, this comic explores the every day lives of those unique people obsessed with reading.

The artwork is clean and simple, but appealing and very expressive. I love that some of the pages are funny comics about being a reader, and some of them are a little more serious about how magical it is to get lost in a book.

From those frustrating things like stickers on a book cover that drive readers crazy, all the way to the delight of connecting with other readers over a shared love of books, this comic encompasses all the aspects of a reading life and what makes readers so special.

I loved every page! I would love to see more comics from this author/artist!

Book Love by Debbie Tung is a graphic novel containing comics depicting everything there is to love about books. Rather than a linear story, this is a collection of images celebrating all things bookish, including: reading physical books, enjoying ebooks, browsing bookshops, borrowing books, smelling books and all manner of lifestyle related scenarios involving books and reading.

The artwork is appealing and the black and white illustrations are all postcard quality. I can easily see them being converted into bookmarks, t-shirts, tea towels and more and I'd certainly purchase some for myself. A cursory search tells me the author has an Etsy shop, so that's promising.

Book Love by Debbie Tung is best read a few pages at a time. While it can easily be read in a single sitting, I think it's best enjoyed at a slower pace. I recommend Book Love for bookworms, librarians, bibliophiles, readers and booklovers.

This book was super cute! I'm sure all book lovers will be able to identify with the different scenarios, many of which will draw a knowing smile :) This doesn't read like a story, rather like a collection of memes about books. Light hearted and fun, give it a read.

I am not used to reading comic books, in fact this one is the first in many years. So i am not exactly sure how to review it.
I requested it obviously because of the title and the gorgeous cover. The drawings were cute and funny, and the fact that they were monochrome made them more appealing to me.
I loved the various "situations" depicted and i was always happy to find one i can identify with. I was already familiar with many of the scenes, i have seen them before on social media but it felt good to have them compiled in the same place.
I really loved this book about what our love for books can do to us.
Highly recommended.

When I think of Heaven, I imagine that I have access to every book ever written, and I have all the time in the world.  It is a soft, magical place filled with clouds and bookshelves and couches.  One of the few reasons I'm afraid of dying, is, well, what if I haven't finished a book I was reading by the time I die?

Honestly, Tung gets me.  And I get her.  The thought and care going into these comics were so incredibly relatable.  I, too, walk everywhere with my nose in a book.  The days I forget a book are the longest days ever.  Bookstores are a trap.  And yet I can't resist books.  They are my true love.

These monochrome comics explain just what it means to be a book lover, and all the nuances and intricacies involved in being one.  They are all absolutely fantastic, understandable, relatable, and anyone and everyone who is a book lover should most definitely read this.  They won't regret it.

I really loved this book. The illustrations were perfect and I found that I could relate to just about everything in here, especially the part about hating the books with the movie poster cover because they just aren't the same. I laughed my way through this book and I wasn't ready for it to end!

This collection of cartoons describes the behavior and thoughts of book lovers perfectly. If you love to read, you will find yourself thinking how true so many of these cartoons are. I confess to a feeling a jolt of recognition at the one showing the character using her kindle as a bookmark in a physical book. Nothing in here is really ha-ha funny in the manner of a good New Yorker cartoon; these are more slice-of-life scenes describing what it is like to be a reader. The cartoons are cute, and the situations will be familiar to every bookworm.

I really resonated with (and enjoyed) Debbie Tung's first book of cartoons, Quiet Girl in a Noisy World (see my review here), which explores the introvert experience, and depicts a love of solitude. This theme is still present here, but gets a bit more specific in Book Love, a collection of comics perfect for those of us who thrive on books and reading in general.

If reading is one of your favorite uses of "down time," and something you enjoy on a regular basis, indoors or outdoors, whether in public or private, you'll enjoy these comics too. Some explore different places and ways to read, certain problems and difficulties that readers can face, but the most common theme I noticed is the way that books can have the power to change your life -- sometimes in grand, memorable ways, and other times in small, incremental ways. Books help you understand things from others' points of view, teach you about people and places at other points in time and geography, and also have the power to touch you emotionally in different ways.

Of course, if you're a book lover these are things you are already quite aware of, but these comics offer a friendly celebration of this shared experience, and may even help rekindle that "excited" feeling you get when you've just read something you absolutely loved. I related especially to the comics that poked fun at the fact that even with an overflowing "to read" list, some of us just keep right on buying and acquiring books. No guilt here!

I read this book in a single sitting – just could not put it down. And then reread it. I was hooked from the first pages: “What a rainy and gloomy day. Perfect for staying in with a cup of tea and a good book … What a nice sunny day! Perfect for staying in with a cup of tea and a good book”.
That sums up my approach to life so well. The heroine of the book could be me, each page was almost a perfect description of my love for books and my NEED to read.
My dream has always been to have a room of wall-to-wall books, and a chaise longue to recline on while reading. So far, no chaise longue, but the number of books in my study is growing daily. Nowadays, I do most of my reading on a Kindle, as I find paper books too heavy and unwieldy (but then if the book is really good, I HAVE TO have a paper copy for the bookshelf! – see page 97), and old-fashioned bookshops are not easy to get into with a wheelchair or mobility scooter, so I do most of my book shopping now on Amazon. But, this book describes the world the way I want it to be, if only my body would get back on-side.
“When I read, I explore the past. Adventure into the future. See the world from a different perspective. Embark on a journey of self-discovery” – How true.
“Always have something to read. You never know when you’ll have an opportunity to squeeze in a page or two”. Whenever I leave the house, my Kindle comes with me – just in case I have a minute to read. Nothing else is so essential.
““I’m clearing out some of my stuff. These are old clothes that I don’t wear anymore. And these are old shoes that are too worn out.” “What about these old books that you don’t read anymore?” “NO! NOT MY BOOKS! STAY AWAY!!!””
This book is for everyone who has ever enjoyed reading and loves books.
“Every day is a good day for books”

I think I first became familiar with these shorts on Buzzfeed, and they ring so true for this bookworm! Book love is a thing only a few of us truly understand and Debbie Tung captures it beautifully.

Book Love by Debbie Tung is a cute comic/ humor book I requested from NetGalley and the review is voluntary. This is a book any bookstore will relate to! I know I did! Every illustration is cute and fun with the clever message spoke of unspoken...readers know what is means! Lol! The author has thought of everything we bookstore go through and has cleverly out it to one and paper! I think I could relate to every one of those cartoons! Very witty and fun! This is for that bookaholic in your life!

This book made me smile through the entire thing. It was over in a few short hours, but completely relatable to any book lover.

The art style was cute and adorable. The amount of emotions depicted in the individualcomics was great.

If you want a quick read that lifts your spirit, this is the book for you.

This is a fun book of cartoons for book lovers. As someone who has enjoyed this condition ever since my mother read my first picture book with me, I can say that Debbie Tung is clearly a fellow traveler, who explores all the nuances with accuracy and humor. I certainly identified with the sentiments in many of the cartoons, like feeling guilty if I do not finish a book, although I do not in any way agree with the feeling that ebooks are inferior to the printed version ( I know a lot of my fellow bibliophiles disagree.).
Except for its small size, I would say this is a quintessential “coffee table book” in a positive way. Like most books of cartoons, it is not a book to sit down and peruse from cover to cover, but picking it up and reading a few of the cartoons when you are feeling stressed or glum is a great way to bring a smile to your face…and to send you racing off to find a book to read!
My thanks to Netgalley for an advance review copy of this book.

Downloaded and read immediately. So much of the book resonated with me. I joy to read. Would make a lovely gift for a booklover, and a great book for any coffee table. Highly recommended, especially if as a bookworm you don't feel understood - Book Love will reassure you that all is well, loving books is more than O.K., and you are not alone.

Note: I received an Advance Reading Copy of this book through NetGalley for an honest review.

Just a quick look at my site or my online profiles makes it clear quite quickly that I am a book worm. I love reading, I love books, I love bookshops, conferences, book humor… anything to do with books. I have seen Debbie Tung’s comics and drawings online, not knowing it was by her. When her book Book Love came up for review on NetGalley, I couldn’t wait to read it.

Book Love contains short one-page comics (sometimes one panel, sometimes more panels) about us bookworms and the love we have for books and everything about them. About the smell. About always reading. About falling in love with a book and not being able to let go. About the dangers of the bookshop for any wallet or budget. It even has recommendations of great books to get lost in.

Book Love is a cute little book filled with very relatable bookworm comics. It’s a nice gift for the book lover in your life, or to read to understand them better. It might be a bit too much for 130+ pages, some comics later on get a bit repetitive. Still a fun little book though, four out of five stars.

very time I read Debbie’s comics I always feel seen and understood. I feel like if I met her in person we’d be instant friends because she just gets me. Her new book, Book Love is an ode to books and book lovers.

From trips to bookshops and libraries to buying multiple editions and having stacks of books to be read, to taking photos of books for social media, bringing books on a trip, preferring books to people, to the feelings of finishing a book, reading it in one sitting, and having a friend love a recommended book, to annoying book stickers, inaccurate movie adaptations, and movie tie-in editions, Book Love has it all.

Delightful, funny, and highly relatable. I’m tempted to give it to friends and say “here, this is me!”

The struggle is real for book lovers and this adorable comic collection beautifully and hilariously encapsulates it. Fun and witty, Book Love will have many book lovers nodding along as they read and connect with many (if not all) of Debbie Tung’s illustrations in the daily life of book nerds.

This is a beautiful book. The art and the drawings are just lovely and it reflects to perfection what it is to be a booklover.

Book Love is what it sounds like, a collection of cartoons for those who love reading.

The single-page strips aren’t particularly punchline-driven — the appeal comes from the familiarity. Anyone whose favorite activity is enjoying a good book or anyone who always has trouble figuring out what book to bring with them will recognize themselves in her choices.

I’m impressed with how many different ways she found to express similar ideas. Some pages are illustrations of phrases, such as “When I read, I’m in a world of my own”, and those have elaborate, full backgrounds, different from the sparser four panels. The one captioned, “The library is my second home”, with all the shelves of various books, is one I got lost in for a while. The strips often focus on the feel of becoming part of a good book, or wanting to share a wonderful read with others.

Tung’s art isn’t heavily styled. It’s simple, making her ponytailed figure comforting, like a friend, with just enough detail to establish the situation and a good grip on posing for realism. These comics aren’t cartoons so much as observations, and the pleasure comes from having felt the same way or done the same thing, as when a reader doesn’t want a good book to come to the end, or feeling ambivalent about a movie adaptation.

Overall, this is a reassuring, enjoyable read, particularly for bibliophiles. (I thought I was the only one who used part of the sofa for book stacks!) It’s a shame this wasn’t put out a month ago, as it would make a perfect holiday gift for so many people.

This is my first Debbie Tung and it certainly won't be my last. Every page resonated so hard it echoed. I've loved reading since I was a shy little girl whose only friends were books. The magic of the new book relationship is beautiful here. If you're a book lover, you'll love this. You wouldn't be here if you didn't.

I "like" a lot of bookish pages on facebook so I had seen a lot of these comics before. I think if you are an avid reader, you probably have too. They're cute and relatable, and this would probably make a nice coffee table book.

Books. They are my escape from reality, and my closest friends. Nothing brings me as much joy and sadness as the pages of my favorite book. I have lost countless nights of sleep to “one more page” and regret nothing. My extreme love for them is what prompted me to start a book blog and to join such a supportive community.

Book Love takes all of the aspects of a book worm, and puts them into the most loveable, adorable, connectable comics. Debbie Tung captures the pure essence of reading love. Page after page, my smile grew bigger and my heart grew warmer. I only intended to read a few pages at a time to savor it, but couldn’t contain my joy and read the entire work in one sitting. It happens.

I loved this book, the artwork, the innocence of it all. Some of the jokes were represented several times, but I didn’t mind since the cute art that went with it made each page unique and special. I recommend this book for anyone who loves reading, as it serves as a reminder that we are all connected by our love of books and are never truly alone.

I feel truly seen. I feel validated. I feel happy and joyful and very very satisfied.

That’s what I have to say after finishing this book and I can promise it’ll be the same reaction from any book lover like me. But be prepared, this is for those book obsessed people whose life revolves around them, not the occasional readers.

Every page, every illustration, every line felt like something I would do or say or reproductions from my own life. I’m one of those who carries a book everywhere I go, would rather read in a corner than go out, and talk obsessively about books to anyone, irrespective of whether they are interested or not. And the gushing and fangirling.... I have never seen so much of myself on page before and I’m so glad this book exists.

My only disagreements - I would rather have coffee than tea while reading, and please don’t dismiss e-readers - I cant imagine my life without them.

This book is the perfect gift for any book lover and I recommend this to anyone who wholeheartedly believes in the power of the written word.

On a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being the opposite of me and 10 being perfectly me, I'd say this book is a 100. That's right its like someone plumbed the depths of my mind, personality and subconscious and put it into book form.

That's not even an exaggeration. I was trying to find which comic exactly fit me and its hard to choose a dozen never mind just one.

(the following pages are from the e-ARC I read, so they may not match up to the finished edition)

Pg. 24 - "Oh...I thought one suitcase was for books."
Pg. 31 - that entire page
Pg. 32 - "But above all, I read to escape from the Real World."
Pg. 37 - that entire page
Pg. 38 - is my LIFE
Pg. 41 - literally the kind of party me and my friends enjoy 100% of the time
Pg. 54 - yuuuuup
Pg. 65 - a mood for every reader on social media
Pg. 72 - I've gotten into actual fights over this with strangers
Pg. 73 - MOOD
Pg. 99 - A real MOOD
Pg. 102 - it does not, in fact, count

This is basically a field guide to spot a Book Dragon. Use it wisely my friends, use it wisely.

This is a sweet book for people who love readers. It doesn't have a plot. It is a collection of scenes depicting life as a booklover. I could relate to many the scenarios. Some were heartwarming. Others were laugh out loud funny. There were a few pages that included book recommendations and advice. I would recommend this to any voracious reader looking for a light read.

I fail to see how this book WON'T appeal to your average bookworm. Debbie Tung is spot-on with every observation about being a book lover ... from the hilarious things we use as a bookmark, to finding out what a book's title was as such. Her line cartoons are accented with monochrome washes, and I'm pretty sure I've seen them floating around before, so grabbing the review ARC was a no-brainer.

This book is SO TRUE. EVERY PAGE is was nodding, smiling, crowing outloud and saying YES! THAT'S ME!!

I swear, this author is my Sister from another Mister.

I am going to get this book for my SO, because while I am a book-fanatic, they are not quite and don't get my love of books and reading. This will be the perfect way to try to bridge that gap. Not to convert, but to bring about understanding, because I am not nearly as able to express Book Love as this author is.

I will also hand sell the HECK out of this book, both for the book lovers and the not-not-so-much book lovers in their lives. Worthy book. I completely love it. I read the eARC and while digital is nice, I think the actual book-book is preferred for this one.

5, highly recommended, oh-my-gosh-I'm-not-alone, stars!

My thanks to NetGalley and Andrews McMeel Publishing for an eARC copy of this book to read and review.

The perfect gift for any book lover, this collection of comics speaks to the heart of every reader. It's lovely and charming and is meant to be read, reread, shared, and gifted. I am so happy to have found this gem!

Book Love is a very enjoyable series of comic strips about the love of books. As a book lover myself I could relate to a few items but some were even extreme for me. I will say I have a book (either physical, ebook, or audio) with me everywhere I go and I am usually read one of each format at a time (you can't read while driving so audio here I come).

I think this would be a great gift for a book lover in your life. It is definitely the book that you share with other since it can be read in an hour or so (the wonder of graphic novels/comics). Also if you want to give this format a try and you don't really want sci-fi/fantasy this is a nice one.

For fellow bibliophiles and introverts, this book is really charming. Tung captures all the intricate and intimate details of a bookish life in both its hilarity and somberness. There were many times that I stopped in wonder at seeing an emotion or experience conveyed that I didn't realize I couldn't voice before. In this way the book in its entirety is very introspective and self-aware, with plenty of funny moments to make your heart grow.

"The right book will have stories that stay with the reader forever"

With amazing art, and with cute concepts that really hit that spot in - probably - all of us bookworms, Debbie Tung got us a book that makes us connect. A book for us, book lovers that just know by looking at someone's nice bookshelf with amazing books that we'll get along just fine. That just love to spend time with just you, a cup of tea and some book. That, yes, will take a book everywhere they go!

I just loved the cuteness of all the comics, and really - except the boyfriend part that I don't have - connected with all of it! It was just some relaxing fun time to read this book, and I recommend it all!

Super cute!!! An adorable graphic novel that encompasses what it's like to be a bookworm! Would definitely recommend to all the book lovers I know. The artwork was perfect for the topic as well.

Tung has simply, cleverly yet lovingly encapsulated so much about the book-devotee experience into a collection of comics and artworks which feels like a love letter read at a support group for the happily book-besotted. A group which shrieks in understanding at someone spoiling an ending, sighs at the perils of reading multiple books at once, and completely understands (and likely joins in) when you wander “just for a second” into a bookshop.

As Tung so clearly understands, the support group is to endure the difficulties associated with reading (such as being interrupted mid-page), the delights and tragedies of buying books (that smell and sticker residue, respectively) and, above all, the treasure that books are, hold and represent to book lovers everywhere.

The art is simple, uncluttered, yet evocative with the occasional whirling of watercolour imagination and starry skies. The pages aren’t coloured beyond blacks, greys and tea-warm browns, yet this is as familiar and cherished to the bookish clan Tung is writing about as the heft and joy of their favourite books.

It’s impossible to choose a favourite page, though the “everything is ruined” panel from the cinema was perfection, and the greenery dense spread made me sigh happily, the emotion evoked familiar and beloved.
It’s not a demanding read, but it is delightful and completely relatable.

Recommended to:
Anyone who is – or knows – someone who loves books
Anyone who doesn’t like reading but needs to buy a gift for a reader (possibly because they need to apologise for interrupting their reading…)

Not recommended for:
Those who don’t see the problem in interrupting readers (but I doubt you’re reading this so moot point I guess)

Book Love is a graphic novel that can easily be read by anyone, whether they're an avid reader or not. It's a super quick read, one that I finished in the span of maybe 90 minutes while multi-tasking XD Since this book is a collection of comics centred around the theme of an undying, life long love for books, there's no complicated plot or massive cast of characters to keep track of. This might just be the perfect book to start you off on the right foot for your 2019 reading list!

I loved Debbie Tung’s Quiet Girl in a Noisy World so when I saw that she had a new book coming up, and especially one about books, I had to read it.

Without surprise I really liked this book. Cute, funny, and relatable, she writes and draws a love letter to books Book Love. With dialogues and observations, comic strips and lists, Tung writes about books but also about readers, reading, libraries, bookshops, annoying things like stickers on book covers but also the joy to share books (or not) and I loved the addition of her favourites books. This book can feel repetitive because it’s a collection of past strips, I’m not sure if I recognised some from her previous book or if she posted them on social media before.

Book Love can sometimes be a bit cliché or rehashing things we might have seen over and over on tumblr or twitter. It’s also a bit harsh on non-readers or movie adaptations (though, okay, we’ve all been hurt in the past at least once by one of those) but overall I’d still recommend it. Every reader can find a little bit of themselves in it, and be reminded that bookish people exist everywhere ❤

The highlights of this book were the fully illustrated pages. Debbie Tung can draw and colour gorgeous scenes only with shades of grey, giving this book a very peaceful tone and atmosphere.

This book is a darling and funny collection of book lover's humor. As a book nerd myself, I thoroughly identified with the protagonist's struggles (loaning books, not having enough books, needing more time to read books) as well as her joys (finding a new edition of a much loved book, falling in love with bookish boys, etc.). I heartily recommend this for anyone whose heart is filled with the pages of books.

I have been following Debbie Tung’s cartoons on social media and was thrilled at being able to review her latest, ‘Book Love’. If you have not seen her work, you simply must check her cartoons out and if you are in any way obsessed with reading, then this truly is a must have! It was her debut of ‘Quiet Girl in a Noisy World: An Introvert’s Story’, that first drew my attention. I have not looked back since and smile when her cartoons come up in my Instagram feed.

3.5 stars rounded up.

Cute cartoons for avid readers - especially female ones between tens and twenties.

I like the smell of new books, I like running my hand over their backs. I like the places and people a well-written diatribe evokes. Yes, once I walked into my closed bedroom door because I was reading a book. Reviewing an ecopy of a book for (paper) book lovers did not quite work for me.

I found myself wishing that the author would portray 'book loves' of other races, creeds, colors, ages. Book love could have appealed to so many more.

This book is exactly what the title says. Debbie Tung gets it. The best pages are ones you stop and linger over because they say exactly what you feel about books. I thought I'd glance at the book, and instead I read it through, and started to calculate which readers I knew needed their own copy. (And then I came up in bafflement against a January 1st publication date. What part of book-lover's Christmas present was overlooked here?)

If you love books, there's something in here that will resonate deep within.

“Book Love” perfectly sums up what it means to be a bibliophile. I could definitely relate to many of the scenarios, and I could absolutely picture my friends doing certain things, such as packing a suitcase full of books for vacation. I laughed out loud often. This is a love letter to books. It manages to be funny, truthful, and heartfelt. The illustrations are cute and nicely detailed. Overall, a quick, enjoyable read.

What a fantastic collection of comics! Any tea loving bookworm can relate to everything in this book! The illustrations were incredible. I wonder if the author sells individual prints - that’s how good the illustrations are. This was a very light and humorous read and I highly recommend it!

A perfect graphic novel for bookworms. It's a fun and relatable book. 98% of the comic strips described me as a book lover.I can't find any dull moments and the only con in this book was it gets redundant. Overall, it's a simple and joyful read.

This book is hilarious, the art work is so good. As a book addict I related with every single page of this and I think I need to hand it out to people who don't like books so they will understand me, it was like my life had been written by the author it's so scarily me. Very witty and completely addictive, read in one sitting and sad it ended. Every book addict should read thi, even if just to sit saying me too on every page. The art is just so adorable too !

I think the author must know me… Each page perfectly depicts my relationship with books. A little scary that there are others out there who sniff books!
Very cute and well written. Illustrations are perfect. Fantastic!
I’ll need to get this and share with the non-book people in my life so they can appreciate that I am not unique.

5 AMAZING STARS!

In 2017 I found Quiet Girl in a Noisy World: An Introvert's Story by Debbie Tung here on NetGalley and I have requested it. It was one of the greatest books I have read that year.
And when I saw this book on NetGalley in December 2018, I took it immediately. I read it last night and highly enjoyed it. I read it again earlier with my significant other and laugh together.

This book has gorgeous illustrations, so many bookish things I related to, and the main character is one you easily like.

I really want to buy Debbie's books in physical format and read them many times throughout my life. I congratulate her for this book and I highly recommend it to every book lover!

I thank NetGalley, the author and the publisher for this book!

An homage to BOOK LOVERS everywhere!

What a treat this was for my bibliophile heart! It's not a book in the usual sense as there is not one story arc or developed plot. Rather it's a celebration of book lover scenarios. There is much here to warm your heart and find relatable. I found myself smiling at each illustration, thinking of the time when I had felt the same, did the same, etc. Each page in this unique book has a special way of making readers feel understood.

Thank you Debbie Tung for sharing this amazing

This wonderful book had me chuckling at how like my life the illustrations have been on many occasions! The illustrations were detailed, but simple enough that the main points were clear without needing to focus too much on the words. This book would be a perfect gift, or personal treat for any bookworm!

Many thanks to the publishers for allowing me to access an eARC of the book via NetGalley

The comic illustrations and observation in BOOK LOVE had me nodding and chuckling. Debbie Tung must have done a Vulcan Mind Meld with book lovers everywhere because her book is spot-on. My favorite? Her disdain for books with covers from movie posters.

This book. Book Love. Is AMAZING. Never have I ever felt so accepted and understood by a book before. It’s basically about ME. Debbie Tung is basically ONE OF US!!!!!!

She has nailed it! From our bookish dreams to our bookish adventures to our bookish dilemmas and to the bookish nightmares, she very accurately gets it all.

From our obsession with new editions of the same book to our fears of destroying our books by spilling coffee over it. From our never ending difficulty to decide which book to carry with ourselves in case we finish our current read to our helplessness with our favourite books being destroyed by the not so great movie adaptation.

With each page I was like “Can this be any more true?” and “Hah! I know right!”.

I finished reading this in an hour or two and then immediately handed it over to my husband, stating “This IS me!!!!”

Book Love is a graphic novel with cute black and white illustrations validating every bookish feeling you’ve ever had. If your life revolves around books, if you read and breathe them, you NEED to get this one.

I can only review this book in three words:
This. Is. Me.

I mean, everything in this book is my inner self. This is me in every aspect of my everyday life. I laugh while being guilty at the same time reading this book. But I must say, I'm proud to be a bookworm.

Debbie Tung always draw witty graphic novels that are very much relatable. It's as if she is opening herself to her readers because every single detail she had written was true.

Dear book people, this is us, this is really who we are. Read it and see yourself in Book Love's pages. Caution: Highly relatable.

Book Love is a collection any goodreads user will enjoy. I was amazed at how many times her comics echoed my life. Like when we travel:

You don't know how many times my wife has yelled at me for bringing too many books on vacation.

Or the disappointment of getting a new book and it's the stupid movie poster on the cover instead of the original.

The strips can get a bit repetitive, especially having to do with her smelling books. But all in all, a very enjoyable read for any book lover. This would make the perfect gift for those readers in your life.

This is the perfect graphic novel for any book lover out there. I was so excited when I heard that Debbie Tung was coming out with another graphic novel. I absolutely loved her other book "Quiet Girl in a Noisy World: An Introvert's Story". Book Love has the same art as well as the same characters. I love her art as well as her story telling. She makes everything so relatable.

The book is constructed in a way where you have many one page long stories or scenarios. It's a graphic novel you can put down and pick up a month later and enjoy it.

The content is filled with book related things such as dnf'ing a book, lending out books, stickers on books and books turning into movies.

There is also book recommendations and reading advice in the graphic novel, which I highly appreciated.

The bottom line is that this is hilarious, and so relatible for every book lover. If you're a booklover, please pick this up, you won't regret it!!

P.S. Also recommend this to bookstagrammers and booktubers, as she does touch on both booktube and bookstagram.

This book perfectly captures the way that book lovers see the world. From the fact that we find it nearly impossible to leave the house without a book to the fact that we become so attached to the worlds and characters that the ending of a book is almost physically painful. The perfect gift for the book lovers in your life.

If you've read Quiet Girl in a Noisy World, you will be familiar with the style and illustrations of this book. The focus of the book is on the love of everything bookish. One of my favorite illustrations is about speaking in literary quotes--I'm guilty of that! I also loved the page titled "Memoirs I Could Write" and one of those being "To All the Books I Bought But Never Read". I think book lovers everywhere will be able to relate.

A true bookworm is reflected in the pages of Debbie's book. Turning through the pages I would picture myself practically being drawn! *wink*
'Book love' is a collection of illustrations that bookworms all over the world will try post to each other. Did you stay up all night to finish your latest book obsession? I know I did.

I don't think I have ever read a book that I related to more than 'Book Love.' For those of us that are hardcore readers, it is sometimes hard to get other people to understand the things that are important to us. How a good book can affect us for days afterward. How we always bring a book with us (just in case!), and that it is sometimes just as hard - if not harder - to decide what book to bring than what to wear. Or that special feeling when we walk into a bookstore or a library and are surrounded by all that literary potential. Author Debbie Tung very obviously gets it. And in addition to the subject matter, the comic panels are adorable. My biggest note of critique was that I wanted it to be longer. I didn't want it to end!

Book Love was a very cute graphic novel. It really captured the love of reading and the struggles a booknerd has. It was extremely accurate and the pictures really fit the text.

The sweetest thing in the world. Cute and lovely. It would be an excellent gift book for a fellow book lover. I've got one in mind! Debbie Tung totally nails the compromises avid readers make when they live with other people. When conversation is a pain because it takes away from book time! The pull of a bookshop where you just can't wait to empty your wallet to acquire the latest book by your favourite author. The way you befriend characters and the way your heart strings are constantly tugged. This is a treat.

Thanks to Netgalley for giving me access to this little treasure.

Book Love is a short version of you and me every day living through the situations via book person's perspective, we surround our live around the books and books and so - the graphics are greyish black and white, the plot makes one laugh recognizing and relating, the same exact situation you have been through either in a bookstore or library - spotting the new arrival book section, spending all day reading and feeling great, and so many more. We have seen the quotation with book reader's situations and this short book is something very similar - except these are original illustrations.
I enjoyed how each page tells one story and "problem" in a bookish person's life. This is a funny and fast read.

This was one of the cutest, most relatable graphic novels I have ever read. Obviously the topic is great for any bookworm, and on basically every single page I was just screaming "ME ME ME" inside my head. I was tempted to make a list of all the pages I found the most relatable, but to be honest, that would have been nearly the whole book.

The mix of content was well done, too - I liked that there was some variety between the super #relatable, real-life scenes and the more "philosophic" ideas about books being windows into different worlds and feeling so close to book characters that they feel like friends.

The art style was also super cute. I often prefer greyscale illustrations because color can sometimes become overwhelming so this was perfect for me. The mix of comic-style panels and full-page illustrations (as well as pages where the different scenes were not actually separated by panel lines) was also really enjoyable.

My one tiny tidbit of criticism: Reading it in one go, this collection got a bit repetitive to me after a while so I wouldn't recommend that, and it makes sense considering the format the author usually publishes her work. And ultimately, this didn't take away much of my enjoyment.

I would highly recommend this to all booklovers and am keen to check out the author's other book as well!

With hilarious and spot on visual interpretations, this book truly captures the daily life of your everyday bookworm. You will certainly find a representation of yourself on many of these pages if you are the following: Obsessed with books! For some, you may even feel like this could be a illustrated memoir!😂

I love how Tung can take a variety of situations and show how a bookworm would handle it. This is not in a story format. It is written and illustrated as moments in a bookworm's life. If you consider yourself a book lover, then Book Love is a must have for your shelf or coffee table!

Bibliophiles (especially young women) will resonate with the scenarios and sentiments that fill the pages of this entertaining book of cartoons. Simply illustrated, the author captures the ethos of book lovers' hearts--at times exaggerated but with a ring of truth. Many of Andrews McMeel cartoon publications have been a bit too off color for our tastes. Not so with this one. Book lovers will recognize themselves here.

I don’t usually read comic books, probably because the only ones I’ve come across have been superhero type stories that I prefer to watch on the big screen. I do enjoy cartoons though and this book is just perfect. It’s full of fab cartoons all bookworms will appreciate. It had me smiling, laughing, nodding my head in agreement and sighing out loud, because Debbie Tung knows exactly how I feel about books.

Thanks to Andrews McMeel Publishing who provided a copy via NetGalley.!

On a day, a friend calls me at WhatsApp and shows me a book. And she simply compels me to know it because I had a duty to read since I talk so much about books as I say I love them. She also said that I had the obligation to read the book if I really love books as much as I say out there.
So I read it and I just fall in love. I felt that this book is about me, that Debbie Tung was inspired by me to write the comics about this girl who loves books and know stories so much.
Book love is an ode to books and people who love books and stories. It is a tribute, a gift to all lovers of this wonderful object that it’s capable to transport us to real and imaginary worlds.
Since the first comic strip, I've gone crazy about this book. The author was able to express all the feelings that book fans have about being in touch with their object of love.
The comic strips show reader’s routine and all the situations we have as we come across incredible stories. We can notice many feelings while we are reading: the love to the books, the inexplicable sensation when we get in a library or a bookstore, the afflictions for an inexplicable and pitiless end; and so on. There is kindness in its pages that I cannot explain.
Another nice detail is that Tung, when designing and writing the books, reveals the importance that books have in people's lives for their growth as a transformative citizen. It is not specific, but you can notice it in every comic strip.
Book love is a very short book and is a great gift tip for those who love books. I just think that everyone who really says they love books and stories should read it. Unfortunately he still does not have a Portuguese version, but we're already in the crowd for some cool publishing house to release it for us. It will be a success here in Brazil and in the world.

Thank you so much Debbie Tung for express our feelings about books and reading

A cute and sweet little book about book lovers!

There's not much more to say than that! Quirky and a fun, fast read!

Let's talk about love. But not any kind of love. One of the most longstanding, honest and rewarding of all of them: Book love. Faithful companions, although they can also disappoint you once in a while, they will never leave you. Actually, you can learn even from a bad book, especially if you are a writer.

In a graphic novel exploring everything a bookworm will expect from a work called Book Love, Debbie Tung develops topics well appreciated among those who love reading. 'Books are best friends, bringing pure joy', says in one of the sketches and I fully agree with that.

Although I personally not agree completely that books equals escapism and you read to escape from the current reality - an accusation often threw by those who despise reading people, this topic appears a couple of times in the book. In addition to explaining and elaborating about the book love, there are also not a few ideas about bookish lifestyle and even a couple of hints about why to date a bookworm (couldn't agree more).

The ideas are relatively easy and frequently referred to by bookworms, the illustration are also simple and without a high level of sophistication. If you have teenagers that need a motivation why to read, Book Love appeals to them in a very direct way, suited for their everyday style and elliptic, telegraphic-like communication. If you are a bookworm yourself - as I do - you can spend some pleasant after-work time in the company of this graphic story. You might want to read (even) more after that.

‘Bookworms rejoice! These charming comics capture exactly what it feels like to be head-over-heels for hardcovers. And paperbacks! And ebooks! And bookstores! And libraries!

Book Love is a gift book of comics tailor-made for tea-sipping, spine-sniffing, book-hoarding bibliophiles. Debbie Tung’s comics are humorous and instantly recognizable—making readers laugh while precisely conveying the thoughts and habits of book nerds. Book Love is the ideal gift to let a book lover know they’re understood and appreciated.’

This. So much this. Debbie Tung's Book Love speaks to my soul. It's like the author has been spying on my (admittedly boring) life! It's clear she's an avid bibliophile herself. This book was an awesome reminder that we book-lovers are not alone, even when it feels like no one around us understands. I loved that she sketched out myriad amazing books others might enjoy. They were so varied, there's sure to be something for everyone. I made a reading challenge using these panels.

One sketch is about how to get more reading done, and a panel included keeping a list of books you've read. Such a great idea! I've done this since 1993, and going back over the list is a great mnemonic tool. I can pull up a wealth of memories by scanning the list. A perfect gift for the bibliophile in your life!

How to review 130-odd pages of sweet cartoon drawings, on the subject of being a true bibliophile? Urm, it’s really good! :)
Simple drawings, many truisms about being a book lover. There is nothing not to love about this book. It’s cute more than funny – although some of the bookish situations are so true to (my) life that they did make me laugh – but that’s more than fine. This is a huge warm cosy blanket of a book that says “I’m a bookdragon, too, let’s bond over our love of books.” Not crime novels or fantasy books, but the sheer pleasure of reading.

This is the cutest book ever! Every book lover should have a copy of this on their shelves. Not only is it the most relatable thing that you will read, but the graphics are spot on.

This book is for all of those who read the book before the movie, who cannot pass up a book sale, who walk in to buy one and walk out with 10. Each graphic is unique, all telling a different part of being a book lover. From the passion you may have towards a book, to the defensive nature of not wanting to lend them out, Debbie Tung has covered it all.

This book had me laughing with how relatable it was, even tying in bookstagram into a few of the images.

Even if graphics are not your preferred genre, you will definitely want to check this book out. It is a super quick read, but it will have you referring back to it, letting you know that all book lovers are alike in one way or another.

I saw a page from Quiet Girl in a Noisy World in one of my groups on social media and it made me laugh, so I decided to check out Ms. Tung’s Book Love and I am unbelievably glad that I did! I absolutely loved this book of comics — it was beyond wonderful to read and I truly enjoyed every minute of it! Every thought and feeling I’ve had about books, Debbie Tung managed to capture perfectly. If you’re a bookworm, every page of this book will have you nodding and laughing because you feel that exact same way as the girl in the comic or you will do the things that she does. Book Love made me feel so happy and warm inside, it made me love and appreciate books and reading even more and feel so connected to the author. I can’t wait to see what Debbie Tung comes up with next!

Title: Book Love

Author: Debbie Tung

Genre: Nonfiction, Graphic, Teens, Bookworms, Art, Comic, Books

Plot: The love of books has fueled an entire industry for centuries but more importantly, it has fueled the imaginations of readers all over the world. Books inspire us, connect us to complete strangers, provide conversation starters, distract us, inform us and force us to expand our horizons and consider other worldviews and whole worlds. Books comfort us when we are feeling blue or in need of some companionship in a lonely point of our lives. Books can be our shelter or the diving board of life. And you are never too old or too young to pick up a book and dive in.

Through her beautifully drawn artwork, Debbie Tung visually captures what it means to be a book lover, to value reading real books in a digital world and what the definition of book love really is. This is one book that every book lover should have on their shelves.

Likes/Dislikes: I told my husband he has to buy me a copy of this book and he said, "You want a book about reading books?" I enthusiastically said yes and shoved it in his face to look at but he was more amused than interested. Fingers crossed that I get a new book for Mother's Day. In the meantime, this book is perfect. The size is adorable and very travel friendly, the artwork is beautiful while still being accessible to non-artistic people like me and it exactly captures what every reader goes through. Plus, it smells amazing! You have to buy this book!

Rating: G-all ages. Highly recommended

As a book lover, I really enjoyed this book. It was totally relatable, some of the comics made me laugh and some made me think of how much I love books and how they have really been a comfort these past few years. Although I think book lovers with more access to physical books might appreciate it more than those who mostly have access to ebooks and audiobooks, im sure all book lovers will enjoy this book.

Book Love was a simply adorable and easy read! This would be just lovely in print. The type of book where you can devour the whole thing in one sitting, or only read a few pages at a time. Perfect for a coffee table book, or for a gift to any of your bibliophile friends. It's very easy to relate to, and immediately puts a smile on your face. I can't wait to see a printed copy, and will definitely be picking a few up for some of my friends!

Thank you to NetGalley, as well as the publisher for providing me with a digital copy of this book, in exchange for an honest review.

Have you ever thought about the crazy things that you been doing as a bookworm? Of course I would not blame you because I do them as well. And this book is for you. I can’t recommend this enough to anyone who loves books.

Book love kept me grinning throughout the book because it was all true. And it was as if someone took a peek into my life and just drew them but in a less clumsy way.

Though it would hardly take an hour to finish this one, I would suggest to go through this book slowly and enjoy taking a laugh at yourself.

Final thought: Catch yourself smiling at the quirky bookworm habits

Recommended to: Must read for book lovers!

This book consists of book lover comic pages, done in a simple, but distinctive style. All the pages were extremely relatable and I couldn't help but share a lot of them in my insta-stories. It is a treasure find for me and I would definitely love to read more from this artist. Some of the topics include prioritising book buying over any other kind of shopping, hyping about authors loving your photos on instagram, reading at parties or other social gatherings, reading until very late at night, smelling books, bookworm fears and quirks etc.
A perfect gift for any book lover out there.

Debbie Tung is amazing. When I read (and reread) her books, Quiet Girl in a Noisy World: An Introvert's Story, and Book Love I am always smiling. And surprised, because within her simple comics I find myself. First as an introvert and now as a bibliophile. She understands and illustrates my introversion and my love for books exactly as I feel them. I get the feeling that Debbie is talking about me, or that we have twin souls. The situations she describes, I've lived them. And she portraits them with such humor!!!

This is a comic book with lots of white space, where the black and white drawings call to our attention. The text is short. Together, image and text convey effortlessly the episodes, portrait a feeling in the most efficient, straightforward and delicious way.

Really great reading for book lovers!
